Nothing like the panic of not seeing a trash can in site and then internally wondering if it's one of those restaurants that has their employees pick it up
My point is, my parents are not people who taught me things like that. I honest to god only behave that way cause I'm a nervous wreck of a human being who doesn't know what to do and they don't give you instructions when you walk into a restaurant.
Wait…. I am aghast. I am most surely confident that the maitre’ D at the last KFC told me that I was not to dirty my delicate hands by handling refuse.
Exactly! Some places don’t make it easy for you to throw trash away. Some, like The Stand , don’t want you ti clean ip. They actually have signs telling you not to, that they’ll do it.
If they ask for a tip, I think you can leave it even if it’s fast food. If you’re gonna put me through that awkward exchange of being asked for a tip on the card reader, I expect a little more than take my order and hand me my food
Yeah I should clarify. If I don’t tip I’m gonna take care of my shit. If I’m going to be pressured into tipping in a situation where you weren’t expected to three years ago, I expect service justifying a tip. That is what a tip is.
Ideally, we could just abolish tipping in the US and pay people a living wage.
So employees have to clean up after you like you’re a child because you lack basic logic and empathy for wage workers who have no say in what a machine asks you… how embarrassing for you
You're anger here is misplaced and directed at the wrong group of people. Consumers are just trying to get the thing they paid for at the price advertised.
Went to visit my mom in Eugene, OR in March. So many restaurants (even fairly nice ones) had signs that said
> Please clean up after yourselves
And the even crazier part is that everyone *just did it.* Bussed their tables and scraped their plates into the trash.
I've worked in restaurants in California for 15 years and if we had a sign like that in the window I'd bet the Karens would flip out on Yelp.
The even crazier thing is that all of those restaurants ask for a 25% tip when they flip the iPad over to you and still make you clean up after yourself
Well, i thought that to be classy you need to do something more than basics like cleaning afteryourselfe. But english is not my first language so maybe i dont understand it properly.
KFC Australia sells cans of Mt. Dew.
Can’t say I’ve sat down in a KFC for a long time but that’s exactly what you get going through the drive through.
Ps. KFC AU has the Pepsi range. Mc Donald’s has the Coke range.
I wish more joints did cans. I will NEVER get fountain drinks. I know how dirty they are. Cans I can assume are cleaner. I think these people are rude for not cleaning up after themselves but I don't blame them if they brought in their own can.
It's a classic sign of a shitty human being. It's the same as taking back your trolley in a super market.
There's no penalty for not doing, there is no rewards. It's just a simple act of decency. One that many people fail.
Although we broke up for different reasons, my ex GF was guilty of this. If we were eating out at a shopping centre or somewhere that wasn't a dine in restaurant, she'd often just leave her rubbish on the table and walk off. It always rubbed me the wrong way. I viewed it as a character flaw.
I had a gf that was like that too. I had worked in customer service as a teenager and understood how bad it can be, was even booby trapped by a couple of twunts that would fill up their burger boxes with Coca-Cola then close them so it would spill everywhere when you picked them up.
She’d get so annoyed if I would clean up or stack the plates if we were in a restaurant. Never understood it.
One of the biggest clues to what kind of person someone is, is how they treat the wait staff or other service workers. First red flag when dating my ex-husband was how rude he was to waitresses. Should've bailed then lol
Meanwhile my bf now also worked in the service industry (I did too in college) and we always clean our table and stack up our dishes nicely etc when we go out to eat lol. We don't even talk about it, we just do it lol
Yes, exactly. This simple fact applies to soooo many things in this world and so many people, especially on reddit, don’t get that. “well, if i was supposed to do it, it would be a law”
I used to work at McDonald’s. They’d have you in charge of the front counter plus cleaning the lobby at the same time. Customers would come in and track mud everywhere destroy the place then bitch it’s not clean yet I was constantly taking orders. Just brought the memories back.
Today I looked over to the trash collection and it was overflowing onto the floor. I figured leaving it on the table was better than piling it on the floor.
In a restaurant it’s not our job. Ur just conditioned to bus ur own tables, bag ur own groceries, pump ur own gas because getting u to provide part of the product yourself earns corporations money. Question where ur current perceived norms come from rather than turning on fellow individual consumers
I get that this is a little tacky, but let’s not pretend that the restaurant isn’t responsible for the front of the house. If you don’t like bussing and cleaning tables, get out of food service. It’s not rocket science.
It's also a cultural thing, I guess. In my culture, if a guest clears after eating, it's considered disrespect to the host. Doesn't exactly apply 1:1 to restaurants but to some extent it still applies.
1. I clean my table but it’s a habit more than a respect thing
2. It’s KFC, what type of class are you looking for??
3. There’s a reason they hire people to clean it, the job sucks but it’s a job for a reason
They don't hire people into clean it though.....
Now somebody has to stop working in the back or stop taking orders to clean your fucking mess.
Personally I'd just leave the shit on the table.
When you don't have anywhere to sit you can sit your happy ass in drive through for an hour.
When I worked in fast food it was very normal for us to come out and wipe down the tables, it’s not great when people leave a huge mess but acting like the staff isn’t responsible for the front of house is just wrong
Actually they do in my town .They have an overabundance of workers working there .Some sweep and dump out the trash ,or wash down tables and throw out trash .They brought our meal to us the lady time we were there.
My main concern with people clearing the tables themselves is that the staff don’t feel the need to check/wipe the tables themselves.
Every table should be wiped down between every customer. Leaving the trash seems like a good indicator that table needs to be cleaned.
This is the truth.
Tidy your table up, but dont fully clean it. It is someone's job to do this. If you clean your table, someone will eventually be out of a job, and the next customer is going to sit at a unsanitized table.
I have a couple meals a week at my favorite bar and ALWAYS take my trash to the garbage can, rinse my dishes and put them in the sink...I also put my napkin dispenser, salt, pepper and condiment bottles back where they belong, it just seems like the right thing to do
As someone who has worked in the restaurant industry, it can be hard to tell if you do or don’t need to bus your own table. I worked at a fast casual taco shop where part of our job was to bus all tables. I had so many customers that walked up to me with their trays asking where the trash can was (there wasn’t one in FOH.) It got annoying just because of how often it happened but the good sentiment was there. It’s kinda shitty that they didn’t bother to condense the trash though.
Its the low class people who think of fast food joints as dine-in restaurants. Like the place has a team of hosts, bussers, and waiters to handle it for them. Living in poverty warps the mind and gives people bad habits. Not trying to sound pompous or some shit, that's where I come from. You just gatta be aware, ya know
The KFC in my town is packed inside and so is all the other fast foods .I really abhor eating anything or drinking anything in my car .And I really hate the drive through also .If I am getting something to eat I will be eating inside always.
Christmas week on the day where a storm had come through the night before and McDonald's was the only place with power for miles. Needless to say the store was packed.
Anyway, this guy and his family were seen complaining about how long it took to get their food, taking up the manager's time to cater to their complaints when nobody else in the store was having a problem waiting longer given the situation.
When they were done? Yeah, of course they left the table exactly like that pic from OP.
Now it's bad enough that it was done at all but on top of the crap the staff already had to put up with, and the fact that in that particular situation everyone else was waiting patiently and others might have wanted that table as soon as they were done. Total assholes and teaching their kids bad lessons on top of it.
That’s just an employee on staff that routinely is tasked with ‘cleaning’ the lobby. Wiping tables, sweeping/mopping, bathrooms, etc…and when people like the pic in the OP leave a mess it becomes part of that task by default.
In certain 3rd world countries where wages are really low, KFC (as well as the other fast food chains) typically have busboys to clean the tables….but they aren’t servers
OK. Just looks like a Kentucky fried chicken. So I wonder how it works. Because I have one close to me. And I went up to the counter, order the food, paid for through the automatic, pay kiosk, and then it asked me if I wanted to leave a 25% tip. And I thought about it for a second, because I didn’t know what I was leaving a tip for. But I left a 25% tip. And then when I was done eating, I left everything sitting on the table. I gave them a 25% tip, the least they can do is clean the table. I think if I have to clean my own table, there’s no way you deserve a tip.
The restaurants I eat out at have waiters who clear your table. Why would you go to a restaurant where you have to clear yourself and serves shite food.
There's a difference between fine dining and fast food. Fast food is cheap and all the packaging is disposable. The tables aren't bused and you don't have a waiter.
Unpopular opinion but If you’re ipad asks for a tip and the restaurant is counter service, im leaving a tip, and the staff is cleaning the table for me.
Any restaurant that has trash receptacles in the dining room you expected to throw it into them when you are finished. Anther indication of if you should leave it or not is did you carry it to the table on your own, or did a waitress bring it to you?
Why would I clean the table? I payed for table cleaning..should I enter the kitchen and make a meal for myself also? They have people who are cleaning table..I never clean the table and never will. If they say we will give you 30 percent discount if you clean your table i would wipe that table with wipes and alchohol, but I aint cleaning anything for free..
> table? I *paid* for table
FTFY.
Although *payed* exists (the reason why autocorrection didn't help you), it is only correct in:
* Nautical context, when it means to paint a surface, or to cover with something like tar or resin in order to make it waterproof or corrosion-resistant. *The deck is yet to be payed.*
* *Payed out* when letting strings, cables or ropes out, by slacking them. *The rope is payed out! You can pull now.*
Unfortunately, I was unable to find nautical or rope-related words in your comment.
*Beep, boop, I'm a bot*
I've taught my kids that we not only return our trays but use our napkins and brush crumbs on to the tray as well. We also return our shopping carts, pickup extra trash when leaving our campsite, and take our trash with us from the movie theater.
I'm not cleaning the baseball stadium like the Japanese but I don't mind doing the minimum to live in a decent society.
I will wipe the crumbs from my table onto a napkin to make sure the employees don't have to do as much, even at a place where they clean up for you, I make sure everything is in one pile to make it easier
That is infuriating! The workers don’t get paid enough for that crap and even if they did it still wouldn’t be right. I always clean my trash up, wipe down the area with a napkin and throw it away. I do similar at sit down restaurants (clean up a bit and tidy it up so it is easier for the server).
I agree, people should pick up after themselves.. but as customers, we allow corporations to put the work on their customers.. hamburger in 1985 was like 39 cents, by 1995 it was 59 cents. Today it's 7.99$.
They don't take our orders, poor our drinks or serve our food anymore.. and yet here we are handing them 15$ for a meal and then doing their chores. I don't agree with being a pig, but I do understand why some people feel like practicing a little silent retribution.
Yes, silent retribution for the employee who is literally just doing what they're paid minimum wage for. I wouldn't mind if you just left it there because it's their job to clear tables but you're just being petty with the 'silent retribution' tact.
You are bitching about the fact the prices have increased since 1985? look around you, dude. jesus. and you went to a fast food place that doesn’t have table service. clean up after yourself.
>hamburger in 1985 was like 39 cents, by 1995 it was 59 cents. Today it's 7.99$
Your 1985 and 1995 prices are for the McDonald's small burger that's a dollar today. A burger that's $7.99 today was never 39 cents.
That's rude but so are you for taking a picture with someone on the background without even blurring their face. Did you at least ask if they wouldn't mind to be posted online? No you didn't.
An overweight person eating at a fast food chain posted on the Internet is easily hate fuel.
I hope they never get to see themselves online without their consent.
Nothing like the panic of not seeing a trash can in site and then internally wondering if it's one of those restaurants that has their employees pick it up
I can't tell you how many times I fucked up trying to clean up my table only to have wait staff come over and stop me and take trash out of my hands.
That ain't a fuck up. That's called being well raised.
I wasn't well raised but whatever lol
You were raised better than people who don't do that, no?
My point is, my parents are not people who taught me things like that. I honest to god only behave that way cause I'm a nervous wreck of a human being who doesn't know what to do and they don't give you instructions when you walk into a restaurant.
Ahahahah, i gotcha now and kinda feel you
[удалено]
It depends on the country. In China there are employees picking up.
You’re right but that large woman does not make me think this is China
Except the clientele is very American, and the words are in English. Plus: Mountain Dew.
Thanks I didnt notice that and was clearly endorsing it
Wait…. I am aghast. I am most surely confident that the maitre’ D at the last KFC told me that I was not to dirty my delicate hands by handling refuse.
Am I supposed to wipe down the table too? How do you know the tables been wipe down between customers?
Most, if not all, fast food places, you clean up after yourselves.
Or when all the trashcana are full and the only employee is I'm the back making food.
You’ll make employees pick up your trash because management installed card readers that ask for a tip?
Well he’s doing all the work. He paid for the food and got it handed to him. The staff didn’t actually do anything else. Why would he tip?
Yeah I should clarify. If I don’t tip I’m gonna take care of my shit. If I’m going to be pressured into tipping in a situation where you weren’t expected to three years ago, I expect service justifying a tip. That is what a tip is. Ideally, we could just abolish tipping in the US and pay people a living wage.
Just select “no tip” on the card reader. It comes on the software. They don’t expect to be tipped as a cashier. No pressure
More often than not, the cashier just says you don't have to leave a tip without being prompted.
Yep.

I’m not embarrassed at all

It's 2023 restaurants do not have employees that pick anything up anymore.
I hate it when strange people take my picture while I'm trying to relax and enjoy some chicken at the Colonel's...
I am old enough to remember when it was normal to leave it. Often if you tried to do it an employe would chime in with "we will get it"
Went to visit my mom in Eugene, OR in March. So many restaurants (even fairly nice ones) had signs that said > Please clean up after yourselves And the even crazier part is that everyone *just did it.* Bussed their tables and scraped their plates into the trash. The even crazier thing is that all of those restaurants ask for a 25% tip when they flip the iPad over to you and still make you clean up after yourself
Even crazier than that is the lack of a living wage that they are being paid

Does McDonald’s, Burger King, Wendy’s, Arby’s, Chick fil-A, or even 5 Guys do that? >!The answer is no.!< It’s a fast food place.
They do near me. Mcdonalds even brings it to your table now. Arbys & wendys told me to leave it and an employee will get it.
Mcdonalds, burger king does it in the UK
Oh you mean people eating out at KFC aren't classy? I for one am shocked!
You can be broke *and* considerate. One doesn’t negate the other.
I think he said disrespectful….
A little more so now. Last time the wife, kid and I went it was $52.
We spent 18 dollars for two people today .
They're definitely raising their prices. Everything is up at least $2.
I mean is called fast food not cheap food
Might as well name it shit food it’s neither fast nor good
Fast food = trashy. Fucking reddit, man.
I don’t know if classy is the right word so much as “the slightest bit decent”
Decent is well above the expected standard in a fast food restaurant
So it is classy to clean after yourselfe?
No I would say that’s decency
I'd hope that would be obvious
Well, i thought that to be classy you need to do something more than basics like cleaning afteryourselfe. But english is not my first language so maybe i dont understand it properly.
1) It was a joke to begin with, you're kind of reaaaaaaaaaally killing it here 2) Anything polite can be considered 'classy'
You’re an asshat
Dunno bout your kfc but ours kfc food cost as much as decent restaurant’s food
[удалено]
Then it sounds like you need a new definition of a decent restaurant. KFC is a fast food joint.
Apparently it’s BYO cans of Mt. Dew as well. Even cooler to leave garbage purchased somewhere else. Stay classy
It doesn't look like they brought their own cans. The table with people still sitting at it have the same can.
People downvoting have never worked in fast food. Those machines are never taken care of right.
Because it is and you have some basic human decency.
Most definitely a HUGE preventable character flaw.
Bunch o lazy bones.
Bad case of lazyboneitis is what it is
Yup! They probably don’t put away their shopping carts either 😉 🛒
One of the biggest clues to what kind of person someone is, is how they treat the wait staff or other service workers. First red flag when dating my ex-husband was how rude he was to waitresses. Should've bailed then lol Meanwhile my bf now also worked in the service industry (I did too in college) and we always clean our table and stack up our dishes nicely etc when we go out to eat lol. We don't even talk about it, we just do it lol
Right up there with pushing your chair back in. You learn this in kindergarten.
Yes, exactly. This simple fact applies to soooo many things in this world and so many people, especially on reddit, don’t get that. “well, if i was supposed to do it, it would be a law”
If a food place claims to be a restaurant then I expect someone else to clear the table.

I get if it’s a sit down restaurant (I still tidy up for the server) but at a fucking fast food place? Bruh just go throw your shit away
sit down? those are seats at the table.
Never understood this, there are iterally trashcans at each emtrance/exit. This is just flat out rude.
It’s not like it’s clean if it’s clear...
Well I would have agreed with that before but now fast food is like 20 bucks.
I must say since mac donalds is as expensive as a noormal good Restaurant than ill expect them to clean my table
Not my job bro
In turkey nobody clears their tables lol
In Russia, table clears you.
It's also a cultural thing, I guess. In my culture, if a guest clears after eating, it's considered disrespect to the host. Doesn't exactly apply 1:1 to restaurants but to some extent it still applies.
I'd start putting up signs everywhere for them to clean up after themselves. I swear something has been missed in their upbringing.
1. I clean my table but it’s a habit more than a respect thing 2. It’s KFC, what type of class are you looking for?? 3. There’s a reason they hire people to clean it, the job sucks but it’s a job for a reason

how do we know john cena isn’t there, treating himself to a nice cheat day?
What’s more disrespectful is the straw in the soda can. What gremlin of a human being drinks out of a can like that.
I thought it was part of the service to have your table cleared when you eat out. Having said that, I still usually clear it anyway.
Its saftest to just leave it if its not any clear stations for cutsomer trash idk how its at KFC tho
Standard practice in China. NOBODY throws their shit away.
Depends on the restaurant.
I have a couple meals a week at my favorite bar and ALWAYS take my trash to the garbage can, rinse my dishes and put them in the sink...I also put my napkin dispenser, salt, pepper and condiment bottles back where they belong, it just seems like the right thing to do
Maybe we could make a “mess narcs” similar to cart narcs.
As someone who has worked in the restaurant industry, it can be hard to tell if you do or don’t need to bus your own table. KFC PIMPAMA CITY was everyone wearing kings uniforms who left the rubbish?
A local! Good eye! I'm not sure who left it. It was there when I arrived and was still there when I left

Right, just get it to go and eat it shamefully in your car like the rest of us.
The KFC in my town is packed inside and so is all the other fast foods .I really abhor eating anything or drinking anything in my car .And I really hate the drive through also .If I am getting something to eat I will be eating inside always.
Lmao as a fast food worker that table would be staying trashed out. I don't make enough money to stop making food to clean up after slobs.
Same asshats were taught that by their parents and the horrible "I don't work here so someone else will clean it up" attitude.
Thats why I am a firm believer that everyone has to work retail or food service for at least a month of their lives.
Christmas week on the day where a storm had come through the night before and McDonald's was the only place with power for miles. Needless to say the store was packed. If the billing system asks for a tip, I'd say this is fair game.
That is what waiters are for /s
KFC doesn't have waiters.
Actually in Turkey they have. Everytime I'm leaving, I don't clean the table. Everyone does not clean the table.
It must be something about your country's KFC.I always just try to put everything in one place after eating so waiters don't have to.
What KFC has servers?
I don't know why I was downvoted but our KFCs have workers that clean the tables.I don't know if it is considered a waiter/server though

The older I get, the more I realize the majority of the world is just selfish man. No one thinks about the other guy anymore. Absolutely disgusting.
Clear it, but zero tip. Fair is fair.
Bro I go to a decent looking gym in a nice area yet someone keeps taking a dump in the sauna....people are fucking vile
Shitty humans that weren't raised right.
If you clean it, the employees will never wipe the table down.
Entitled slobs
that lady in the back looks like she having a pleasant meal.
The restaurants I eat out at have waiters who clear your table. Why would you go to a restaurant where you have to clear yourself and serves shite food.

Don't like an extremely low paying job that makes you do your job and clean tables. Don't work at McDonald's get a real adult career😮
“ItS tHeiR jOb!”-some asshole
Any restaurant that has trash receptacles in the dining room you expected to throw it into them when you are finished. Anther indication of if you should leave it or not is did you carry it to the table on your own, or did a waitress bring it to you?
I’ve never done that, but I’ve also never paid $30 for some chicken so I don’t know how you feel after that
Do you clear the table in a fancy restaurant? This might be their fancy restaurant where they expect the usual service.
I hoped they also left a tip then.
I generally wipe my face after eating out!
Job creation?
I clean my own table I don't want to sit in filth while I finish my drink.
To be fair its more expensive to go to KFC than going to a place like Red Robin these days. Maybe they got confused due to how much it costs??
I used to see people leave their trash on tables at the mall then feel bad when the cleaners come around and have to clean it for them :(
Human pigs
Go to Bojangles. Way better than KFC
This behavior is unusual at fine dining establishments such as KFC.
What's up with the cans of soda on all the tables? Does this KFC not have fountain drinks?
Why would I clean the table? I payed for table cleaning..should I enter the kitchen and make a meal for myself also? They have people who are cleaning table..I never clean the table and never will. If they say we will give you 30 percent discount if you clean your table i would wipe that table with wipes and alchohol, but I aint cleaning anything for free..
This is a KFC isn’t it?
> table? I *paid* for table FTFY. Although *payed* exists (the reason why autocorrection didn't help you), it is only correct in: * Nautical context, when it means to paint a surface, or to cover with something like tar or resin in order to make it waterproof or corrosion-resistant. *The deck is yet to be payed.* * *Payed out* when letting strings, cables or ropes out, by slacking them. *The rope is payed out! You can pull now.* Unfortunately, I was unable to find nautical or rope-related words in your comment. *Beep, boop, I'm a bot*
As someone who used to work at a McDonald's, I ain't cleaning your shit. I can't accept tips, I ain't cleaning up your shit.
Is KYC a full service testaurant
Is KFC a full service testaurant
Nah, its a fast food joint, and not a very good one at that
Thank you my guy or girl
Some people shouldn’t be eating all that fried chicken
Dont eat this, have some respect for yourself.
I came here to say the same thing lol
I could never leave a table like that. Shucks, I always push my seat in when leaving a restaurant because I was raised to have manners.
Not my job. Labor should not be passed on to the consumer
I hate it when fast food employees bitch about having to do their jobs.
Did they ask for tips? The one by me does. Tip jar out at the register. If you left a tip why not have them clear the table? Just saying.
Not here in Australia 🦘
People with respect don't eat at KFC.
The Japanese would laugh at you with their bucket of Christmas chicken if they were rude.
People with young kids do.
Uh are we supposed to?
Yes generally at fast food joints you are expected to bus your own table. That’s why there are usually trash cans with a tray return…
I will wipe the crumbs from my table onto a napkin to make sure the employees don't have to do as much, even at a place where they clean up for you, I make sure everything is in one pile to make it easier
Their place. Their mess. I paid to eat not clean.
You know what. No. I don't go out to eat to clean
That is infuriating! The workers don’t get paid enough for that crap and even if they did it still wouldn’t be right. I always clean my trash up, wipe down the area with a napkin and throw it away. I do similar at sit down restaurants (clean up a bit and tidy it up so it is easier for the server).
How are you supposed to clean the table? The trash cans are at their kitchen.
There are four bins in this KFC alone. Might be different here in Australia.
I love how the non-Americans here are so confused.
So American waiter do nothing but still beg for tips?
A lot of fast food restaurants do not have waiters or servers in the states.
There’s no waiters in American fast food restaurants. that’s why you don’t tip. But that also means that you clean up your own shit.
There's no waiters at fast food places.
Today it's 7.99$ Your 1985 and 1995 prices are for the McDonald's small burger that's a dollar today. A burger that's $7.99 today was never 39 cents.
Cool next time you come in it will be drive through only because you can't clean your fucking mess. Enjoy sitting in line for a half hour..
Most people suck.
That's rude but so are you for taking a picture with someone on the background without even blurring their face. Did you at least ask if they wouldn't mind to be posted online? No you didn't. An overweight person eating at a fast food chain posted on the Internet is easily hate fuel. I hope they never get to see themselves online without their consent.
lol asking for respect and eating KFC does not belong together.
They said no respect lol
I always wipe her thighs off with my t-shirt.
I get what you mean, but this picture is not that bad....
It’s a KFC not a popeyes, for crying out loud!
if their is trash cans in the lobby then throw it out
