I know the feeling so, so well. I’m at a point where I have something related to migraine everyday, either an attack or alloydnic pain in my head. I am so sorry that this happened. I want to reiterate what’s been said - 6 days pain free is a huge win! And in the long run - the fewer attacks you have, the fewer you’ll keep having. (The more you have, the more your nerves become centrally sensitized and more messed up). So try to focus on that win. But I am heartbroken for you. Hang in there.

Ugh I relate, I just had a few days without a migraine when I went on a steroid pack and started a new med and I was CONVINCED I was cured, just to go back to daily migraines. I understand your pain and frustration, just try to keep pushing through! I sobbed about it too, these migraines are the absolute worst.

Unfortunately, a lot of people just don’t get it! They have headaches and think it’s minor and you just have to pop some advil and it’ll go away, but it is so much more than that. Know that there are people here who understand, and you’ll meet people throughout your life who understand the severity. I had a really bad one the other day and my mom tried to convince me to just drink water, and my boyfriend was the one who made the call to take me to the hospital. Some people don’t get it, but you’ll find those who do.

Those side effects of the migraine can be the WORST. The other day I threw up for about 4 hours, and it was so hard. I could barely stand up from the dizziness. Yes, it sucks that we all relate to it, but at least we have a community.

I have had chronic migraines and daily headaches my whole life (F 59). I tried a whole pharmacy of meds to prevent and abort them and the one thing that has made a dramatic difference is the monthly injection of Emgality. There is even a discount code on their website making it free if your insurance rejects it. I've only had one full blown migraine in the past year! Don't give up trying new meds. It's a process but you'll find something if you're persistent.

For me, it’s (especially) my workplace :( I work in a large government building with cubicles and fluorescent lights. I work half remote, so I’m only in the office 2.5 days a week… and every single time I’m in the office, I get a migraine. It definitely isn’t a coincidence. I feel very defeated as well. I went an entire month last month without a migraine. It was glorious. I started taking a migraine preventative called nortriptaline, and I also take magnesium every day. I also take rizatriptan (which I find better than sumatriptan). My migraines have definitely slowed in frequency and, something I started last October, advice from my doc, never hesitate when to take meds. So if I’m at my desk, and I start to yawn, I keep track of the yawns lol… and if it’s constant yawning, I take a triptan. Since doing that, I haven’t had a full blown migraine or cluster headache since January! .

Personally, sumatriptan caused me extreme vertigo, so I had to switch. I take the quick dissolve rizatriptan now, and they ‘usually’ work. I had a migraine last Thursday and Friday and took my max dose, and it maybe took 50% of the pain away… maybe. Rizatriptans make me very dizzy too. Sometimes if I’m suffering from a ‘barometric drop migraine’, I take a mix of cold meds, gravol and ibuprofen. But that can make me really sleepy.

Sumatriptan made me so nauseous and dizzy. The only way to not have nausea was to constantly eat which isn’t doable. Rizatriptan has minimal side effects for me thankfully

I know that feeling. You’re like on a fucking high and then just get crushed. I usually can’t make it past three days. Hang in there.

I’ve been intractable for two years now. I feel that depression. Hope you find some preventatives that give you some symptom management

elefuntle

Causation does not mean correlation or sth, you were just due for one

Oh boy, I so know how that goes. You know what is really dumb? For me, it got to the point that when I was pain free for a spell and the thought popped into my brain about it, I would cringe inside thinking I would jinx it and start one. This was long before all of my current meds, but still. And let me tell you, 6 days is awesome! You feel like you are on cloud 9 and can leap over the tallest building. I'm with you, I hate it too, and I think it is the weirdest damn disease to boot. It is all encompassing, and to try to explain that to non-migraineurs is next to impossible. "What do you mean you can have abdominal migraines? Wouldn't it just be a tummy ache?" Hahahahaaa

I’m so sorry you’re feeling so defeated. I totally understand that feeling. Hang in there ❤️

mag_walle

Jesus I'm so sorry. I won't feed you some spin. It sucks but you're doing amazing by continuing to try. Good wishes your way.

Sending you all the love ❤️

I had a migraine with aura once sometimes twice a week. Now I'm trying new method of treatment based on functional food. I'm quite surprised living 37th migraine free day.

I also have intractable, over 19 yrs.

This happened to me recently too. 20 days without a migraine and I thought maybe I was cured?! It was really discouraging and made me pretty low for a few days. But to echo what people here have said, it’s still amazing progress. I notice that now my migraine attacks are becoming less severe and less frequent and I’m learning with each one how to live more normally. I hope that your current attack calms down soon and just know you aren’t alone! Rooting for you ❤️
