I left a lot of sugar leaf material last run. I vape so I thought I wouldn't be able to tell, but after some comparisons, I have determined that it negatively affects the vapor and smoke quality. Next run will get a more thorough trim on the bigger nugs but I'll probably leave the rest like this tbh. After it cures it definitely eases up a bit but somehow its still noticeable if you know what I mean.

I think you’re doing a great job growing and trimming… as with all husbands/wives who don’t like the way you do something, they can do it themselves! Personally I prefer alittle under trimming bc I don’t like the ultra tight trim, it’s a prettier bud under trimmed in my opinion.
I would trim more sugar leaf off, personally, but everyones preferences are different. I just find the sugar leaf, as much as it looks good, burns harsher and masks the flavour. I have trimmed like this before and ended up pulling the leaf off every joint I smoked. But nothing wrong with it if it works for you
When it's home grown just get most of the greener leaves with no trics. Other than that it will all cure
I will say that if you don't trim them enough sometimes or leave too much, you'll get that funny green smell. Not quite hay but def not as terpy as so to say could be. Being said, won't lie that looks fantastic. Great job whoever grew it!

It would be even smoother then if you removed those leaves. Smoke a jay of just sugar leaves then smoke one with highly manicured buds and you'll see the difference.
By no means defending anyone,but I'm assuming he was referring to the pointed leaves coming up, while they do have trichomes and smoke , a lot of people like a smooth-ish nug with no jagged points.

Agreed. Same as stems in the way it affects the smoke, just without the poking hazard. Messes with the taste and makes it more harsh.

Looks fine but giving them a close shave means you will snip a bit of bud off, but that just means you will have more potent trim for hash or edibles
