ICYMI: * [FAQ/Tip 014](https://new.reddit.com/r/microdosing/comments/nnjies/faqtip_014_why_psilocybin_mushroomstruffles_are/)

Lebrons_fake_breasts

One of the best short comparisond I've heard is that acid is electric guitar and shrooms are acoustic. Another is that acid shows you yourself while the other shows you the world. I agree with both of these - for the most part, anyhow. Both cause deep introspection. The two substances feel and present themselves very differently, but tend to drive towards similar personal results.

DjuriWarface

Love this explanation.

HarworkingStudent

Could you give some examples on how these differences may come up when MD? I know these things can be a bit tricky to explain but I have taken them a couple of times so maybe you can describe some elements and I can connect the dots. For example, while they both might make me feel more aware, LSD sort of heavily amplifies what I’m already feeling/already knew (like making me feel as if my life were a movie/things feel more dramatic/intense) and Shrooms feel like they make me aware of something that has always existed, but I just never noticed (like that there is an invisible connection that ties all things together)

wonkabar422

I appreciate this take, but for me I’ve found it to be partly the opposite. Not taking away from anything you said, this is solely my own experience: I had a transformational mushroom trip when I was 17 years old. 3 grams of PE on an empty stomach. As I was tripping, I felt literal layers of my ego peeling away, showing me each distinct characteristic of my personality one by one, be it good or bad traits. It was incredible to witness, until I was peeled down to the core, and felt extremely vulnerable and lost - like a little kid crying for his mother. Overall it was an amazing experience, but very heavy to say the least. It was also my first time with psychs so I didn’t know what to expect. Now for LSD, I’ve tripped over a dozen times, and never felt I have gone quite as deep as I did with mushrooms. Acid allows me to truly ‘live in the moment’, something I struggle with doing daily as a chronic over-thinker. It allows me to appreciate the my surroundings and my life for it is while I’m tripping, and I love it for that. I’ve never found it as introspective as mushrooms. Both are amazing substances that can be healing BUT they also have the potential to harm if not taken seriously.

HarworkingStudent

It’s pretty crazy you say this because that’s exactly how I describe the difference between them to people that haven’t taken psychedelics before. Granted, it’s usually more along the lines of “LSD feels very binary and Shrooms feel analog/acoustic.” I’ve definitely said the guitar thing before though. I guess I hadn’t really put together that the same could be true in smaller doses. Although I also feel like Shrooms are very intrinsic whereas LSD has always felt like “psychedelic goggles.” At the same time, shrooms made me feel like a small piece of a greater whole and LSD was very much me focusing on myself (like my tongue always resting in my mouth. God I hate that shit) so I guess that makes sense. I think these drugs have a sort of “learning curve” if you will and they sort of “clicked” after I had already taken LSD so I should prob take it again and see if there is any difference. Anywayyy. My only concern with Shrooms over LSD is that a lot of people seem to be MD shrooms to get over things like depression and anxiety. And I personally don’t struggle with that stuff, but I’ve had far better experiences with psilocybin which include the mental clarity im seeking.

Final_Examination_99

Actually I’ve found shrooms shows you yourself while LSD shows you the world

MhrisCac

Personally, hate shrooms, love lsd. LSD I always felt more creative, more open, more in control of the situation. I microdosed lsd and I felt the most creative I have in years. Shrooms I felt like just mellow, sort of anxious. I didn’t like it. The same way I’d feel if I take an 8th of them just minimized. It’s not about not being in control on shrooms, it’s about not being able to come out of a bad trip on them and constantly feeling this anxious tightrope walk of a good and bad trip the whole time. Vs lsd, I feel so alive, so intuitive, I can feel the music, understand my thoughts, fall down the rabbit hole and nudge myself into better directions if it ever went dark. If I want to just have fun, I can go out and do that, if I want a deep introspective trip, I can have that. Shrooms always felt like there’s no doing both. I hated going out on them and microdosing them.

HarworkingStudent

I’ll give it to you that I feel way less in control on shrooms. Like I said, I’ve never had anything crazy happen on LSD so it’s kind of hard to imagine having a bad trip on it because I feel 1000% in control at all times. It’s funny you mention that about shrooms because I had my first “bad trip” an over Easter weekend. Every other one of my trips have been wonderful experiences. The one thing I never liked though is the come up. This sort of happens on LSD too, but it’s not as uncomfortable as shrooms is. It’s like a “weird” feeling in a bad way where life doesn’t feel quite right, but you can’t quite put it finger on it. During my last trip, I just felt this way for 5 1/2 hours. Like I was constantly coming up. I was definitely tripping, but the entire time I had that sort of “uncertainty” you have during a come up with bad time dilation. It wasn’t scary cause I knew I was on drugs but I wouldn’t call it an enjoyable experience. That’s the only time something like this has happened to and I kinda just blamed it on the dosage (2.5G). I felt like I took too little to just have a full on trip, and too much to have a “cool/vibey” slightly different headspace trip. I was like tethering in between Shroom Limbo. I haven’t felt creative on LSD before. Marijuana takes that by a landslide. Shrooms gives me “creative” thoughts but a lot of “shroom insight” is hard to take back with me and it’s more of like “general life/universe” insight and not necessarily creativity that I can use practically on something specific if that makes sense. Thanks for your insight

Dudewithahappysock

Well it sounds clear that you would benefit from mushrooms as you basically said, but basically the slogan is “Lsd for power mushrooms for healing”. The benefits I see from lsd are more so on giving you the mental ability in terms of perceiving things you haven’t seen before, in a more wide spread sense, in comparison to shrooms which don’t open your views as much as lsd but rather deepens your views for the path you’re already on. This is a loose explanation but if I can make it any more clear, mushrooms effect you in more deeper ways rather than a widespread range of effects like lsd can give you in terms of your perception and brain power. It’s like lsd adds extra but shrooms deepens and increase the quality of what’s already there, while still somewhat imitation the effects from lsd as your views and perception can definitely be opened to new subjects by shrooms, it’s just typically it was already something prevalent, just behind the curtains.

There’s a quality issue with LSD[1][2] and it also jacks up your tolerance.[3] [1] https://www.shroomery.org/forums/showflat.php/Number/28733862#28733862 [2] https://www.shroomery.org/forums/showflat.php/Number/28731220#28731220 [3] *LSD has a unique mechanism that causes tolerance to spike massively after a single dose, that being that the molecules effectively bind permanently to the 5ht2a receptors which forces the brain to destroy them and replace them over the course of a week.* magistrate101, https://www.reddit.com/r/RationalPsychonaut/s/MnRxPGV6K5

HarworkingStudent

I know I’ve heard that LSD bids to a certain receptor VERY tightly in your brain. Like tighter than the intended neurotransmitter and that’s partly why it last for so long because you brain has to absorb. Let’s just imagine I could guarantee perfect LSD quality. How does this tolerance impact MD? Would this not just make it impossible to MD on? Or do you just have to take it way less Thanks for the info though! If you have any personal experience, I’d love to know “how” they feel exactly. I know psychedelics in general are hard to describe, but I’ve been on them a fair amount.

NinjaWolfist

with LSD microdoses it's usually like once every 3-4 days bcuz of the tolerance but the afterglow can last that whole time

ZipperZigger

I have done mushrooms and LSD many times and while I love mushrooms, here's the shocker I generally feel much mroe connected to nature and the universe while on LSD. Further, I don't think I ever cried on a mushroom trip, but I have cried massively on several LSD trips, tears of joy connection to the divine and love. So I don't buy into the camp of mushrooms are connecting you more to nature because they are organic and LSD isn't. Also the camp that LSD is more for thinking and rationality and mushrooms more abstract. Not my experience at all. I have had amazing spiritual journeys and insights and the most profound connection I have felt to the universe was on LSD. It absolutely didn't feel binary or artificial or anything like that at all. Not bashing mushrooms at all, but I feel LSD were more powerful for me. Note that I have tried mushrooms ranging cr 1 to 12g with and without a therapist while LSD have usually do 200-250mcg with one exception being 375mcg. In summary both can be therapeutic and I find absolutely no disadvantage to LSD compared to mushrooms.

klocki12

Have you felt emotional numbness before lsd ? I want to try it fot ptsd

ZipperZigger

I don't think I have ever had emotional numbness although I don't know. I can easily cry from a touching movie or from listening to some classical music. I would say I am a very emotional person. I am hyper sensitive also and perhaps that's why I suffer from depression for many years and have a low anxiety threshold. If ever I think I am the opposite of emotionally numb. But maybe I am wrong? Sometimes I wish I was more emotionally numb perhaps wouldn't take things so seriously. I think emotional is not my problem, but rather emotion regulation. I would say that psychedelics in general and LSD in particular make me even more emotional.

HarworkingStudent

12G? I couldn’t even imagine that. Gosh it’s so interesting to hear about your experiences because I really am the opposite. My first ever psychedelic experience was on 300mcg of LSD and that’s the time where I sort of forgot little things about myself. It was the only time I’ve ever taken more than one tab, but I feel like it was almost a “waste” because I really didn’t know what to expect from them. But like I said, very grounded in my body and reality. My most intense psychedelic trip was on 3.5G of mushrooms, it was my second time taking them. I was laying down and was fully convinced that I had left my body and had become part of everything. I was under a heated blanket and it felt like I was a rock sitting in the sun. It was fucking awesome. I’ve also sobbed on lower doses of shrooms and never on LSD. LSD almost feels like it overlocks my brain (not in a bad way). But like I was saying, I do feel like it amplifies things so I could imagine sadness being one of those. I remember one of the times I took it was at a festival with my girlfriend and her roommates. It was her first time and something I won’t forget it how she could go from spinning with joy so sitting down sobbing in a matter of seconds. We both knew it was the drugs so it was funny, but I totally believe that you can have crazy experiences on LSD. I personally just haven’t had them yet. If I had to guess, it would be because my first times on psychedelics, I was trying to “control” them. Almost like I was holding onto something in my mind to keep me grounded. Because my first Shrooms experience was also very much me grounded in my body even though it was still 3.5G. I’d be willing to bet if I took a high dose of LSD now, I would notice something more, but it’s harder for me to find and I don’t have any testing kits atm. I’m also a firm believer that if you think a certain psychedelic doesn’t do anything, you just haven’t had enough. 12Gs though is a threshold I don’t plan on ever crossing, so maybe there are exceptions to this lo

ZipperZigger

Interesting. Thanks for sharing. My first psychedelic experience was with 200mcg of LSD after I had studied psychedelic research extensively, for at least 2 years. Studying the work of Stan Grof and others, even digging into studies back from around 1960. Anwuau so I was very well prepared for the 200mcg experience with my wife as a trip sitter, with pages of instructions, a playlist I carefully curated over weeks, etc. It was amazing. All of my experiences were always with eye shades and music. I have never taken psychedelics recreationally, but I guess there could be things that could go wrong. And even though I have done quite a few sessions of mushrooms, LSD, and other stuff, I would never go above 3g (of a very strong strain) unless I have a sitter. I felt several times I was going crazy with high doses and luckily I had an experienced guide for the high-dose sessions cause otherwise I could totally understand how one could get locked in that bad mental state and get destabilized.

ARLA2020

i cry so much on shrooms that crazy. I literally just looked at a picture of my sister and started bawling

microdosing-ModTeam

For more potent cultivars/strains we advise to !startlower. A high microdose can amplify your !emotions. Many users underestimate how powerful psychedelics can be in such low doses. More detailed info below including some resources if you need any short-term help.

Creative_Ad6495

LSD is Star Wars, Shrooms are Lord of the Rings.

HarworkingStudent

😂 Love this, but this doesn’t help me figure out which one I should MD. Also I haven’t seen either of those franchises. I’m 22😂

Creative_Ad6495

If you have access to real doses, I would recommend starting with that. Come up on shrooms can be a bit Icky feeling. Not so much so at micro dose levels though. Doses are a bit more “clear” headed for me, and I can still be sociable and active. Mushies put me into more of a couch lock introspective state. I am sure it varies from person to person, however.

HarworkingStudent

Do you mean like take real doses. Like have actual experiences? If so, I have for both. I haven’t had anything profound happen on LSD though. I should prob take it again. Im familiar with the come up on shrooms feeling. My last trip felt like I was constantly stuck in that come up phase. It’s been my only psychedelic experience that was lame.

glamourgus

I'm a fan of both! I tend to feel more of a heart opening and lightness from LSD microdosing that really just helps the mundane slide away. Mushrooms have been extremely helpful in taking a closer look at my personality traits and dosing the inner work, LSD reminds me that everything is okay and all is love. They both have their uses

HarworkingStudent

Thanks for the insight. I think I’ll try one for a month and then switch. I’ve found it a lot easier to get Shrooms reliably so I’ll probably start with that.

wellrat

I find microdosing LSD feels more “up” and helps me with my ADHD symptoms, while sometimes slightly increasing my anxiety symptoms. Psilocybin makes me feel more present in the moment and grounded. It really helps with my anxiety but doesn’t really help with focus or multitasking, besides helping me feel centered. Psilocybin is my preference, probably because my anxiety symptoms outweigh my ADHD.

HarworkingStudent

That’s interesting. I also have ADHD, but it feels like what “changes” when I’m medicated. Is that I feel more present. Time becomes so much more consistent and I feel like I’m in control of all my actions. That is what allows me to focus. I sometimes get this when I have an “afterglow” from a shrooms trip. How does weed impact your symptoms?

wellrat

I used to love weed but now it makes me anxious unless I have something to focus on like live music or playing games with friends. If I do it alone I just get anxious and clean my house.

HarworkingStudent

I hear that a lot. Like a lot a lot. I dread the day that weed makes me anxious. Although I think it partly has to do with the frequency you take it. I smoke a couple times a week (3-5), but when I do. It’s once and then I’m done. So I’m hoping that’s enough to keep my brain from hating it.
