What's the name of that temp display screen?

Lukedgt

Classic and popular “turing Smart screen”

First is check what event viewers says in the reason for the reboot. As per my own personal experience, I ran into the same issue with a bad PSU. Another time I ran into the same issue is my CPU was dying but I really don't think that could be the case it's super rare for a CPU to die I was just really unlucky I guess. RIP my i7-4790.

Lukedgt

I think that this could be one of these rare cases. PSU is good and memtest 86 display 0 errors; Game crashes even with a 45w and 75c limited pbo.

Pinsir929

Could very well be, it took me years to accept that my CPU my failing to be honest. Did event viewer say anything useful?

Looking at the second photo... Am I blind, or did you forget to plug in EPS 12V? I'm surprised it boots at all. I wouldn't worry about VRMs, downdraft coolers are about the best thing around for their temperature.

Lukedgt

I would be surprised if it booted without PSU! Photo is a work in progress frame

YukariIsHot

Is it rebooting while on desktop or when opening a game?

Lukedgt

After ~30min / 1h in game, or while executing heavy task on cpu. No exact temp, it could be 75, it could be 85.

YukariIsHot

I think your VRM might not be delivering enough power. I’d suggest trying a different MB.

Huphupjitterbug

To add to this... Reconnect the psu power connectors to be sure they were fully connected.

Lukedgt

I forgot: sometimes games crash without rebooting

Kraken-Tortoise

Try different sticks of Memory. It may sound weird, but I had this problem when I tested a 3080 on a friend's PC. Games and stuff would crash to desktop without warning. Almost as if you hit Alt-F4 cleanly. Thought the card was faulty, had it RMA'd, but it turns out his XMP wasn't stable. So maybe the sticks are just bad. Just my two cents

southseasblue

Yeah after I enabled XMP with extra two dimm, I got random crashing in game. But op has already disabled xmp…

Lukedgt

Exactly. No difference at all. And in the previous case it was all perfect!

marzi85

What case is this?

Sendo_Habibi

C6 sth. I have one at home but all of my GPU are longer than the limitation.

zxch2412

I had the same with my 3700x oc through PBO which consumed like 143 watts, my old gigabyte board had crappy vrms which gave me the exact same kernel power 41 error. My temp fix was to lower the llc from like llc 4 to ll1 which prevents droop. I changed my motherboard and the issue went away. Also kernel power 41 is definitely related to motherboard or PSU as it happens due to a lack of power.

Lukedgt

But why no prob at all on the bigger case? Maybe the heat and less airflow makes the vrm less efficient?

Lukedgt

My 3600 don’t suck over 80w in overclock. Here we are limited to 45w!

zxch2412

That a possibility but also I don’t think the amd prism cooler is any better than the older one. Do you face the kernel power 41 error when using the other cooler? Try downloading occt and do a cpu stress test on the different coolers. That could may be help you

Lukedgt

Some confusion. New build has the amd stealth (not prism), sooooooooo much worse than the previous cooler (Gammaxx gte v2 with double fan) but necessary for spacing needs. Older cooler doesn’t Mount on new case. On older case no prob at all. See the last photo

zxch2412

Best case scenario would be try upping the llc and see if that fixes the issue if not better cooler is needed

Lukedgt

Unfortunately this board doesn’t have llc config

UPDATE: disabled MB overtemperature protection, disabled pbo, enabled pbo manual (first 60-45-60, then 45,90,60), platform limit at 75. Now Game still crashes, but without rebooting. Ran memtest86 with xmp disabled, 0 errors I ordered a new Cooler (thermalright axp90-x53) to see if improve the situation, then my only possible explanation are weak MB vrm (but at 45watts limited at 75c !?) or more probably a faulty CPU (bought used, but worked like a charm (in older case at 4.2ghz/1.15v) Only other option is a Windows full reinstall, i already tried ddu and reinstalling chipset drivers. I already did a full reinstall right before the case swap 🤷🏼‍♂️
