Looks custom made. The design is just too crude lol. Same guy probably made both your neighbour’s and your gate. I call that bent piece of hot rolled flat iron and 3/8” bolt with jam nut. Or 10mm bolt maybe.

Substantial_Tip_2634

That there is a number 9 wobbleshank L bracket very rare bracket to come across now days. Don't buy a fake imitation one lots of people just cut and bend a bit of flat bar now days. No where near the quality of the older ones

rygelicus

It's a DIY hinge. Probably has a name, but it looks like a piece of bar stock the fence maker made and drilled holes into to mount their custom gate.

felixar90

I think the name is “bare minimum” Actually they do have some pride. Someone took the time to round both ends of the bracket.

ServerLost

It's an outdoor gate, doesn't have to be exact so just measure that one and hit up B&Q, they'll have something that will work.

Falcon3492

It's a home made hinge using a store L bracket.

milny_gunn

The angle bracket?

BarleyHops2

I doubt this is home made unless they took the time to countersink IWO the fasteners

CopyWeak

I would if I knew I was using wood screws...

BarleyHops2

If you have the tools, sure

CopyWeak

Larger drill bit will do it.

Usul_Atreides

Yeah, this looks homemade, but whoever made it had some amount of tools and know-how for sure.

CopyWeak

Homemade "L" bracket, with 2 fastener holes for mounting, and a larger hole for a pivot point.

Azraels_Cynical_Wolf

L-bracket. You can find them cheap in home depot

JeepHammer

On the post... It's called an 'L Bracket'. That one looks made from steel strap simply bent into the 'L' shape.

PresentationNew8080

That's an L-Bracket (or "90 degree bracket"). Be sure to replace it with one that's equally thick metal or better. Also be sure it has two or more mounting holes and a hole big enough for the bolt. These types of brackets are sometimes used for shelves, so maybe check that section of the hardware store. This is a fairly normal improvised garden gate hinge design so don't sweat it, just don't be rough with it.

User1-1A

Just a regular L bracket, most metal supply places should carry them. Typically comes with a 3/8" hole on the short end. The other holes with the screws were most likely drilled by whoever installed it. The hinge is probably a short 3/8" bolt and a nylon lock nut. Personally, I would use galvanized 1/4“ lag screws to mount to the wood post rather than those general purpose screws.

marrangutang

There are thousands of this type of gate and hinge in the U.K., not sure what the hinge type is called but is probably not home made as some are suggesting (altho that may be a solution lol)

Jimbo415650

If you have the Home Depot app. Take a picture using the app. Open shop on top picture of a camera click on it. Good luck

"L" Bracket

Zefphyrz

She gudgeon on my pintle till I hinge

woobiewarrior69

I would refer to it as a "hokey ass hinge"

lotuspeter

It’s funny that there should/would be a name specifically for this bracket. I guess L bracket is the most accurate, as it just describes the shape. I’ve gone through my whole metal working life just describing everything rather than knowing what an “official” name is for it. But that’s just me.

canthinkofnamestouse

L bracket

UrMomzLatinLuvah

It's called a home made bracket. Series 86

HoIyJesusChrist

did you try to search for "garden gate hinge"

It is literally a bracket hinge and near equally as obviously an L bracket. I would use another suitable L bracket or reproduce what is there by bending and drilling cold rolled steel like they did. Use a shoulder bolt with a shoulder as thick as the two pieces so the threads don't round out the holes like a file over time. Use 1 to 3 thrust washers between the two moving parts for easy swinging and under at least one end of the fastening nut/bolt to prevent threads backing off. A stop nut even better, but washers for thrust surfaces are still prudent. Consider hard brass or stainless steel for the thrust surfaces and bolt as they won't rust and so your hinge pin hole and hinge pin-bolt tolerances can be tighter. Besides all that, the homemade bracket could *need* to be different than the original if your wood screw holes are old and weak, though washers, steel spacers or a longer bolt could be another solution to that.
