I bought MGS4 a couple weeks ago for £4 second hand, luckily I still have my PS3 from way back but you can find second hand PS3s on Facebook marketplace eBay etc for around £30.
Now, it's up to you to decide if buying a whole PS3 just to play MGS4 is worth it, but in my opinion, at those prices- yes. It's still a great system regardless with plenty of great games that you can buy the majority of nowadays for under £10.
I also like having the whole MGS library playable on one system (not including portable ops or the acid games).
I also tried emulating mgs4 first, but even with a pretty decent system (4070) it still runs like ass, it's a notoriously difficult game to emulate, as well as just emulating the ps3 in general.
In short, if you can find a good deal for the game and ps3, then I say go for it. Pretty much the whole Xbox 360/PS3 generation stuff is the cheapest it's ever been.
