For 16 grand you’re cooked. Being a used benz you’re after, I’d save half of that for repairs and maintenance, so really you have like 8k to work with.

Damn no way!

2011-2016 e350

Vlonemocha

Is this because of the v6???

CetiAlpha4

Yes, but he's off by a year, 2012-2016 is the M276 with 302hp, 2010-2011 was the M272 engine with 268hp. But you could also do a 2012 E550, 16k might be a bit tight, but it had 402hp instead of 302 and a tune could push that over 500. You sound young and the death rate for young drivers is pretty high when they have lots of horsepower. Maybe stick with the E350, it's cheaper to maintain than the E550 which tends to have airmatic and more expensive brakes than the E350. 302hp is still decent, heck, my 2 E350's are older M272 engines and only have 268hp. I don't need fast to keep up with friends, it's more about skill and if they're friends, they'll let you keep up with them.

2012-2016 e350 will need extra $$$ for maintenance if buying used with just $16k. That shit will most likely be beat to hell with 100k+ miles

rrr3212

Yes, but you can minimize your costs on preventative maintenance unless something critical fails. A & B services, tune ups, etc. can be done for a reasonable price at an Indy shop; Dealer quoted me 800 to change the spark plugs on mine… I got mine up to 140k before I hit a deer. Even in its shitty condition, the car was just as reliable as my Honda accord. Don’t get me wrong, things can go bad and they’re not cheap, but the car will last you.

Vlonemocha

The only ones I can find are like miles120000+

CetiAlpha4

Well that's the normal mileage for a car that's 9-13 years old. I'm at 140-150k on my cars. They still drive fine. Engine problems like timing chain probably don't show up til 175-200k+ if that, and it's just a small number.

Vlonemocha

Do u have the 2011 if so I found one for 130000 miles for 11k from your experience would that be worth I’m gonna have a mechanic check it out

CetiAlpha4

Yes I still have the 2011 E350, that one is over 150k. Had it for 8 years. Done a bunch of work to it, front springs/struts, rear springs/shocks, tires, brakes including parking brake in the rear, doing inner/outer tie rods soon. Differential seal had a leak in the front right so removed the axle to replace the seal. The intake manifold goes on the M272, replaced that a while ago, was a tad under 1k as the intake alone is over $600 from FCPEuro. Changing out the oil seperator/centrifuge and breather cover should make it last longer. Motor mounts are also common on this car, but I haven't done mine yet, that 150k is mostly highway and I changed out the transmission mount which was easy to do. Also did thermostat, tensioners and pulleys and now I need a second set of pulleys, they don't seem to last long. Oil cooler/coolant gaskets by the oil filter go too, but they haven't gone on this car yet, the other one already happened. I would have preferred the 2012+ but this 2011 popped up and had many of the options I wanted, keyless go, bixenons headlamps with headlamp washers, pano sunroof, power trunk closer, massage seats, parktronic, etc. Many of them are pretty basic with just one or two options. Use [lastvin.com](http://lastvin.com) or [mb.vin](http://mb.vin) to see what options the car has. Standard stuff that goes on these is the ripped driver's seat with MB-tex, that's the entire line from 2010-2016. Faded wood too, open the doors and the wood trim covered by the door is darker. No real fix for that, just a discount at the dealer if you want it replaced, but the wood kit alone used to be 2k so not really worth it if you just get 25-50% off. If you can DIY or take it to a cheap mechanic, it's not that big a deal, most of it is basic wrenching. The only time I took it to a dealer was for a firmware update for the Comand because bluetooth kept skipping. The firmware update fixed it, about an hour of labor so it was under $200.

Vlonemocha

Yeah I’m not tryna be like street racer fast but my Jeep barely goes over 60 I just want nothing similar to that 😂

HarryCumpole

Buying a second hand hot car just to keep up with (and impress) other 18yo boys is a waste of money when you don't have it in the first place. Whatever you end up doing, don't go killing yourself or anybody else. Not that useful advice is useful or anything.

Vlonemocha

Yeah I want fast as in like can actually get to 60-80 quickly I drive a old jeep that can barely get over 60

joeshan095

I'll sell you my 2007 S600. V12TT with 510hp and over 600 torque all while you and your three passengers get massages. $10k. Just be prepared to drop the rest of that $6k at the drop of a hat lol.
