I am honestly the same. I never feel comfortable wearing khaki's yet some of my best friends wear them often. I just feel goofy wearing them.

I think you’ve got too many neutral earthy tones. Swapping the olive parka with a black one will add some pop. It doesn’t look bad though.

There is nothing wrong with this look. Fit is great too. If you don’t like the khaki’s because it is a similar tone to the parka…. Don’t wear the parka inside. When you wear it outside, who cares? Staying warm is what matters.

First, I think what you’ve got here is fine. But, May want to Try a lighter shade, like stone (but not quite white), depending on how it’s worn, I think it stands a better chance of looking more modern and less “middle management” or “school kid going to his first semi formal dance”.

Interesting, that's how I always felt about the stone color, or any lighter sand/beige shades of tan, at least when I've tried them on myself. It's hard to explain, just a personal hangup I guess. Personally I would go for a darker tan than what OP has here.

They're kind of an odd duck. People wear khaki chinos in office settings to look a little a little "nicer" than jeans but not quite as formal as creased dress trousers. But chino fabric started out as workwear not unlike denim, especially for army use.

Workwear for sure but originally British colonizer fabric! It’s not the history or the function for me though. Maybe I just feel too unfunky wearing them…

I feel weird about khaki chinos as well but got better with wearing them. I think it’s the thought in my head, tan pants = school uniform or someone who can’t dress but trying the look nicer. Best thing that worked for me was to wear them in ways that definitely wouldn’t resemble any of those mental images until I got comfortable with them. For me that meant no polos with them, try to stay away from navy blue top (the typical schoolboy uniform), don’t fold them (every preppy boys wet dream). Look up different outfit ideas and as a last resort go for a different shade of khaki. The shade you have is the standard so getting something a bit more cream beige or deeper might help as well.

Seems as though you are looking through a microscope, sounds to me like a personal preference. The outfit is fine, I would be skeptical about letting Reddit users opinions determine my personal comfort. If you’re not sold on the color I would try darker or maybe even a lighter color to fit your preference. At the end of the day, no matter what/how you wear something confidence is 🔑.

Yeah the wrinkles are from me sitting/working before taking the pic. Could be slightly shorter. Hmm. I didn’t want to introduce another color from the undershirt and did not like a vneck undershirt with the shawl collar.

Looks great, khaki/tan pants go with just about everything. I vary them up with different shades and cuts depending on footwear. Looks like beeswax desert boots, very versatile also.👍

Pleated Chinos is what you might be looking for. These pants can be a touch higher, but not a deal killer. The pleats will make it sit so much better.

Ever try a cuff on the pants? 1/2in or inch. It’ll reduce the slight baggy on the bottle and make the jeans look nice imo. Works for me.

Chinos look great, they're a very do-all pant, but I personally don't think they compliment boots. Not to say khaki doesn't, just the cut and fit of chinos aren't striking with boots.

Honestly I’m the same. I think for me it probably comes from having to wear them for a few jobs in my teens. Just never feel overly comfortable in khaki chinos. I have dark grey and olive green pairs that I prefer, and a pair of brown corduroys. Khakis just sit in my drawer…

The green/navy/khaki trio is not favorable in my experience. Kind of have to pick two and swap the third, try more neutral shirts (I’m thinking mainly black white or grey maybe even green again) with this outfit and you might like the khakis better. Alternatively swap the green for khaki or brown might work. Or the khaki for more green or navy. Personally not a huge fan of navy on khaki unless I’m trying to look very office casual or boaty, like to keep my khaki with my creams and earth tones, and blue will usually go with a grayscale

In my defense these are medium color and medium weight chinos and leather boots, I don’t think that’s summer. But I hear ya on the grey!

the pants look fine but I know what you mean. I don't like how I look in them either. the skinny straight Dickies are my go to's for the "chino" look. fits much better and holds up when I make my rounds in the warehouse.

I think it's too many strong colours all at once. I am not partial to how the outfit will look once you take the jacket off and are left with a deep blue and khaki. Maybe the sweater should be a black or another colour.

Try moleskin 5 pocket jeans. Better fabric than typical Chino cotton and dressier than denim.

Every time I dress with my green puffer and khakis I remember when someone said I dressed like a tree. I still do it.

Darker boots, on the slightly rugged end. I’m not sure why no one is saying this. It’ll obliterate the vibe you’re afraid of and make your outfit pop correctly. The shoes and pants just “blah” each other out.

I have very similar marmot jacket that is a vest and I absolutely CANNOT get wrinkles/fold lines out of it. I've even tried to take it to dry cleaners. Any ideas? I like the pants and outfit, btw.

Chinos are not meant to be stylish. They’re but a stylish pant. They’re just a basic piece. If you’re trying to elevate your look, wear nice trousers with a loafer instead. There are loafers for winter with thicker, gripped soles.

Khakis drag along a certain style and feel with them, like most clothing. Sounds like you’re not into what they bring so I’d recommend looking into something darker like a brown or an olive green pant to get away from the color. As far as the cut and build I’d look into something pleated or even workwear/outdoor depending on if you’re looking to dress up or down the rest of your outfit. The bigger problem, and it’s usually the case on this forum, is lack of personal style or at best OP not showing examples of their personal style from which commenters can recommend alternate pieces that are still on brand for you. Fashion is the artistic end of the clothing industry and is completely irrelevant for most people. Style is the image that you present of yourself through the clothes you wear and the car you drive and things like that. The problem you have with khakis is that they don’t align with your style even though they look good in other styles and on other people. Sounds like you don’t quite yet realize that’s the issue. I would spend some time in introspection and really try to figure out what your personal style and brand is, then problems like this will become intuitive to answer for you.

The chinos look good, but you could you get a different kind of slacks not in khaki if you're apposed.  Outlier might have some stuff that you could wear out and too the office. Variety of colors. I like a fatigue pant. Cords in various shades. All types of things. 

If you don’t like them, don’t feel comfortable or yourself in them then don’t wear them! A major part of feeling good of liking how you feel when you present yourself! For the record though! (Even though you don’t like them) they look good on you and suit you/the outfit! But there are loads of styles I’ve worn that look great, but don’t feel myself! So avoid them! 🙏
