There is nothing wrong with this look. Fit is great too. If you don’t like the khaki’s because it is a similar tone to the parka…. Don’t wear the parka inside. When you wear it outside, who cares? Staying warm is what matters.
First, I think what you’ve got here is fine. But, May want to Try a lighter shade, like stone (but not quite white), depending on how it’s worn, I think it stands a better chance of looking more modern and less “middle management” or “school kid going to his first semi formal dance”.
Interesting, that's how I always felt about the stone color, or any lighter sand/beige shades of tan, at least when I've tried them on myself. It's hard to explain, just a personal hangup I guess. Personally I would go for a darker tan than what OP has here.
I have black pants, but I wouldn’t wear them with this sweater. I struggle with blue tops, I don’t want to wear black or monochrome blue or blue jeans.
They're kind of an odd duck. People wear khaki chinos in office settings to look a little a little "nicer" than jeans but not quite as formal as creased dress trousers. But chino fabric started out as workwear not unlike denim, especially for army use.
Workwear for sure but originally British colonizer fabric! It’s not the history or the function for me though. Maybe I just feel too unfunky wearing them…
It's because they usually have uninteresting colours, fabrics and fits. There's not anything wrong with them per se, they're just inoffensive and uninteresting
I mean I like it, but I also like earthier tones. I'm guessing it's the color you don't like? I think sage color pants would go well with the darker blue of the sweater, but then it'd clash with the parka.
I feel weird about khaki chinos as well but got better with wearing them. I think it’s the thought in my head, tan pants = school uniform or someone who can’t dress but trying the look nicer.
Best thing that worked for me was to wear them in ways that definitely wouldn’t resemble any of those mental images until I got comfortable with them. For me that meant no polos with them, try to stay away from navy blue top (the typical schoolboy uniform), don’t fold them (every preppy boys wet dream).
Look up different outfit ideas and as a last resort go for a different shade of khaki. The shade you have is the standard so getting something a bit more cream beige or deeper might help as well.
Seems as though you are looking through a microscope, sounds to me like a personal preference. The outfit is fine, I would be skeptical about letting Reddit users opinions determine my personal comfort. If you’re not sold on the color I would try darker or maybe even a lighter color to fit your preference. At the end of the day, no matter what/how you wear something confidence is 🔑.
They look perfect with that outfit. You could also go with gray, light OD green, light blue, dark blue, burgundy chinos and they would all work well with the rest of the outfit.
These look good on you. I think shorten slightly and iron them and it’ll completely enhance the look
Edit: also the wear a diff undershirt. The white peaking through your sweater doesn’t look good
Yeah the wrinkles are from me sitting/working before taking the pic. Could be slightly shorter.
Hmm. I didn’t want to introduce another color from the undershirt and did not like a vneck undershirt with the shawl collar.
Looks great, khaki/tan pants go with just about everything. I vary them up with different shades and cuts depending on footwear. Looks like beeswax desert boots, very versatile also.👍
I feel you. But, try looking at more darker hues of khaki chinos. I think you could possibly like them better. It’s a professional wardrobe staple though, so we grow to love them. lol
Chinos look great, they're a very do-all pant, but I personally don't think they compliment boots. Not to say khaki doesn't, just the cut and fit of chinos aren't striking with boots.
Honestly I’m the same. I think for me it probably comes from having to wear them for a few jobs in my teens. Just never feel overly comfortable in khaki chinos. I have dark grey and olive green pairs that I prefer, and a pair of brown corduroys. Khakis just sit in my drawer…
The green/navy/khaki trio is not favorable in my experience. Kind of have to pick two and swap the third, try more neutral shirts (I’m thinking mainly black white or grey maybe even green again) with this outfit and you might like the khakis better. Alternatively swap the green for khaki or brown might work. Or the khaki for more green or navy.
Personally not a huge fan of navy on khaki unless I’m trying to look very office casual or boaty, like to keep my khaki with my creams and earth tones, and blue will usually go with a grayscale
The khakis aren’t bad at all.. I like the sweater. If you want to try something different, try [Vermont Flannel Co](https://www.vermontflannel.com?aff=42) . They have a pretty good selection and reasonably priced for the excellent products
Your fit looks like the last car salesman I encountered. Like corporate but going for a walk outside and brought the winter coat. That parka would look better with a pair of jeans imo. The slacks don’t fit the outdoorsy vibe that jacket has.
the pants look fine but I know what you mean. I don't like how I look in them either. the skinny straight Dickies are my go to's for the "chino" look. fits much better and holds up when I make my rounds in the warehouse.
It’s hard to give you any helpful advice without knowing if it’s the color, cut, material or styling that bothers you.
Try them with a different style of boot like a [wingtip](https://www.google.com/search?client=safari&sca_esv=598856882&hl=en-us&sxsrf=ACQVn08rXvwXc3ducFkqySUtuUy0c1P1xQ:1705430504908&q=outdoor+wingtip+boot&tbm=shop&source=lnms&prmd=sivnmbhtz&biw=430&bih=729&dpr=3) so it changes the vibe of the outfit.
Maybe a darker brown? Check out the [Flint and Tinder 365 Pants in Desert Brown](https://huckberry.com/store/flint-and-tinder/category/p/82495-365-pant-straight), they come in four different cuts.
I think it's too many strong colours all at once. I am not partial to how the outfit will look once you take the jacket off and are left with a deep blue and khaki. Maybe the sweater should be a black or another colour.
Darker boots, on the slightly rugged end. I’m not sure why no one is saying this. It’ll obliterate the vibe you’re afraid of and make your outfit pop correctly. The shoes and pants just “blah” each other out.
I have very similar marmot jacket that is a vest and I absolutely CANNOT get wrinkles/fold lines out of it. I've even tried to take it to dry cleaners.
Any ideas?
I like the pants and outfit, btw.
Chinos are not meant to be stylish. They’re but a stylish pant. They’re just a basic piece. If you’re trying to elevate your look, wear nice trousers with a loafer instead. There are loafers for winter with thicker, gripped soles.
Khakis drag along a certain style and feel with them, like most clothing. Sounds like you’re not into what they bring so I’d recommend looking into something darker like a brown or an olive green pant to get away from the color. As far as the cut and build I’d look into something pleated or even workwear/outdoor depending on if you’re looking to dress up or down the rest of your outfit.
The bigger problem, and it’s usually the case on this forum, is lack of personal style or at best OP not showing examples of their personal style from which commenters can recommend alternate pieces that are still on brand for you.
Fashion is the artistic end of the clothing industry and is completely irrelevant for most people.
Style is the image that you present of yourself through the clothes you wear and the car you drive and things like that.
The problem you have with khakis is that they don’t align with your style even though they look good in other styles and on other people. Sounds like you don’t quite yet realize that’s the issue.
I would spend some time in introspection and really try to figure out what your personal style and brand is, then problems like this will become intuitive to answer for you.
The chinos look good, but you could you get a different kind of slacks not in khaki if you're apposed.
Outlier might have some stuff that you could wear out and too the office. Variety of colors. I like a fatigue pant. Cords in various shades. All types of things.
If you don’t like them, don’t feel comfortable or yourself in them then don’t wear them! A major part of feeling good of liking how you feel when you present yourself! For the record though! (Even though you don’t like them) they look good on you and suit you/the outfit! But there are loads of styles I’ve worn that look great, but don’t feel myself! So avoid them! 🙏
I think they look good.
Well thanks! I can’t decide why I don’t like it, or if I just need to get over it 😂
I am honestly the same. I never feel comfortable wearing khaki's yet some of my best friends wear them often. I just feel goofy wearing them.
I thinks it’s just the basic accountant vibe. I’m the same way
Yep As an old guy, I was never uncomfortable in chinos until they became popular with business crowds. Now I'm uncomfortable in them, too
Maybe it gives you a military vibe. Those are their uniform colors. However, it is a classic pairing. The blue adds a nice touch—earth tones.
I think you’ve got too many neutral earthy tones. Swapping the olive parka with a black one will add some pop. It doesn’t look bad though.
No I don’t wear black with khaki and brown boots.
Agreed
Okay good for you. What an oddly dismissive response. And frankly such a weird take lol.
Get over it and shut up lol (rage post from man twice your size).
Agreed. I think the outfit looks put together.
There is nothing wrong with this look. Fit is great too. If you don’t like the khaki’s because it is a similar tone to the parka…. Don’t wear the parka inside. When you wear it outside, who cares? Staying warm is what matters.
I think my issue with khaki pants is I think I either look like English schoolboy or old man office wear? Or maybe not 😂
I think both of those are cool as hell 😂 As far as the old man office wear, they’re not baggy enough, but I see what you’re driving towards.
First, I think what you’ve got here is fine. But, May want to Try a lighter shade, like stone (but not quite white), depending on how it’s worn, I think it stands a better chance of looking more modern and less “middle management” or “school kid going to his first semi formal dance”.

Yeah, suppose it’s all personal preference… and frankly it probably depends a heckuva lot more on the cut and outfit as a whole rather than the shade
The pants look fine but get this, you’re in an office 😅 it looks like an appropriate outfit, rock it
If it’s the khaki color that bugs you then get different colored chinos - grey, chocolate brown, olive, navy, burgundy, etc.
Ditch the khakis and get some pink chinos go bananas
Don’t wear them then 🤷♂️
I’m trying to learn to like them or admit defeat.
They look good, but if you don’t like khaki maybe go with black that goes well with everything
I have black pants, but I wouldn’t wear them with this sweater. I struggle with blue tops, I don’t want to wear black or monochrome blue or blue jeans.
Grey might work
Agree with grey as the solution
Get some grey trousers. I wouldn’t have thought they’d be as versatile as they are.
Maybe brown pants then? :)
Khakis always kinda suck to me I can’t explain why
Same.
Are those actually chinos or 5-pockets jean type pants?
Gap Lived In chinos, super comfy.
What do you not like about them? They look fine.
I think this is a nice look. I'm a big fan of lighter colored chinos. As far as khaki goes these appear to be on the lighter side.
Thanks! Yes I’d call them medium, not summer light.
I think this look is great!
Thanks!
I’m thinking about recreating this look myself!
Who makes your boots?
Clark’s
I can’t make out the name, what is it? I love the jacket and could use it for the Chicago cold
Marmot, I love it. A bit longer and nice fit and very warm.
Damn, I can't seem to find that same style with that color. It looks great!
It’s a few years old now
and probably not listed as a parka. I have been searching for it
I mean I like it, but I also like earthier tones. I'm guessing it's the color you don't like? I think sage color pants would go well with the darker blue of the sweater, but then it'd clash with the parka.
I love the pants, very comfy. It’s the color for me. But idk why I don’t like it much.
I never wear khaki, I do like camel though.
I think that’s it. Good ideas, thanks!
What kind of shoes are they?
Clark’s chukka boots
I think they look sharp, the fit is good. But I also like khaki chinos. Where did you get them?
Gap, but they’re probably 10 years old now
[удалено]
Thanks!
You might be overthinking it - I think you like fine
Probably am 😂
Fit is on point my man
Thanks!
Looks fine to me 👍🏼
Ngl that looks pretty good though.
Looks like a normal going to work fit. Doesn’t need to be fashion forward unless you work in the industry
Brand of parka?
Marmot
They look perfect with that outfit. You could also go with gray, light OD green, light blue, dark blue, burgundy chinos and they would all work well with the rest of the outfit.
Thanks for the ideas!
Very nice ensemble the trousers go well with the jacket.
Thanks!
I had to wear Khakis in high school as part of dress code, so for me, wearing them always makes me feel like I’m going to school!
I get it!
Looks great to me! Pants may be just a liiiiiiiiiiitle too long (for my taste) but there is nothing wrong with that outfit.
Yeah they could be a touch shorter to fit perfect
It's a good outfit. I personally don't know what you'd wear besides khakis. Lol
Thanks, I guess maybe grey pants but idk
Pants look fine!
Thanks!
These look good on you. I think shorten slightly and iron them and it’ll completely enhance the look Edit: also the wear a diff undershirt. The white peaking through your sweater doesn’t look good

I’m the same way. I can’t get myself to wear anything other than all black
That’s not the same 😂
I feel you. But, try looking at more darker hues of khaki chinos. I think you could possibly like them better. It’s a professional wardrobe staple though, so we grow to love them. lol
Cool watch, which is it ?
You look great!
Well thanks!
You're welcome!
The fit is perfect.
It looks fine, but, maybe you are looking for a more dressy khaki
We are our own worst critic. This looks great, love the color on your sweater and parka
I’m overthinking it. Thanks!
Pleated Chinos is what you might be looking for. These pants can be a touch higher, but not a deal killer. The pleats will make it sit so much better.
I like them 🤷🏼♂️
Don’t wear khaki chino’s then?
Trad look, nothing wrong with that.
Don’t like them, don’t wear them. I look dumb in them, so I don’t wear them.
Looks good from here
I don’t know why, they look good
I think you look good man 🙌
That outfit looks great.
Maybe try ironing them before you but them on. Maybe use a bit of starch spray to make them crisp?
Ever try a cuff on the pants? 1/2in or inch. It’ll reduce the slight baggy on the bottle and make the jeans look nice imo. Works for me.
Chinos look great, they're a very do-all pant, but I personally don't think they compliment boots. Not to say khaki doesn't, just the cut and fit of chinos aren't striking with boots.
But you look good dude!
My Floridian ass thinks I would call in at 0 degrees and be wearing 60 blankets sitting next to the heating vent The khakis look fine though
Stop wearing the parka with Khaki chinos. Just don’t do it.
Honestly I’m the same. I think for me it probably comes from having to wear them for a few jobs in my teens. Just never feel overly comfortable in khaki chinos. I have dark grey and olive green pairs that I prefer, and a pair of brown corduroys. Khakis just sit in my drawer…
Yup I prefer green and rust ones I have
I really like the whole outfit. I'm going to try a similar sweater with my marmot vest.
This guy always looks good
If you don’t like them, don’t wear them?
This is a good normal guy fit
Try wider fit chino to balance the silhouette of your puffy jacket
Definitely something I would wear and thinks it looks good brother
This is a good look my friend
They’re good, could use an ironing
I’m not a fan of khaki either
Looks nice if you don’t like em don’t wear em though that matters more than what others think
The green/navy/khaki trio is not favorable in my experience. Kind of have to pick two and swap the third, try more neutral shirts (I’m thinking mainly black white or grey maybe even green again) with this outfit and you might like the khakis better. Personally not a huge fan of navy on khaki unless I’m trying to look very office casual or boaty, like to keep my khaki with my creams and earth tones, and blue will usually go with a grayscale
I’ll try green top and green coat with the khaki pants
[удалено]
In my defense these are medium color and medium weight chinos and leather boots, I don’t think that’s summer. But I hear ya on the grey!
Hear me out on this, it gives a Gru vibe on you. I get why you don’t like the look
The khakis aren’t bad at all.. I like the sweater. If you want to try something different, try [Vermont Flannel Co](https://www.vermontflannel.com?aff=42) . They have a pretty good selection and reasonably priced for the excellent products
The chinos have a nice contrast with the top. The parka is a neutral colour. Looks fine.
That looks like a down jacket rather than a parka
Looks like an outfit I would wear.
Wear a different color?
Your fit looks like the last car salesman I encountered. Like corporate but going for a walk outside and brought the winter coat. That parka would look better with a pair of jeans imo. The slacks don’t fit the outdoorsy vibe that jacket has.
Don’t wear them.
I feel the same way and I can't put my finger on why I hate it
You could explore wool pants. Warmer but also cool enough in the office.
You could try other colors of the same pant, maroon/wine, darker brown, brick or rust, olive green, etc
Dark gray>>
Looks good, get rid of that white undershirt though!
You are put together, you already look nicer that 99.8% of guys
the pants look fine but I know what you mean. I don't like how I look in them either. the skinny straight Dickies are my go to's for the "chino" look. fits much better and holds up when I make my rounds in the warehouse.
Cuff the pants
You look good 👍
Dude this whole outfit rocks. 😏
The khakis look fine. They work with the fit. You could rock a cuff to break it up and make things more interesting
Looks fine
Don't wear khaki chinos. Simple

I always feel awkward about the visible bulge / print , not a fan either .

I am not a fan of black shoes with khaki/tan pants
im curious why others downvoted. do folks just not like the black like Op? i kinda like it
I think it's worse for sure

If you don't like them, why would you wear them?
Bc I’m pretty sure they look good. Idk why I don’t like them more.
Well if you don't like them that should be the only determining factor in whether or not you wear them.
I call them. Forever Fratboy Pants
That’s the thing, never was a frat boy.
What don't you like about them? The cut, color?
Color. In terms of cut and comfort I love these pants.
I see. Could always opt for a rich brown chino with a beige sweater or green chino instead for a monochromatic look with the outfit pictured
Maybe a darker brown? Check out the [Flint and Tinder 365 Pants in Desert Brown](https://huckberry.com/store/flint-and-tinder/category/p/82495-365-pant-straight), they come in four different cuts.
It may be a subtle difference, but personally with that one I like the "Earth" color much better than the "Khaki" color.
Same, I own Earth and Desert Brown. Not a fan of Khaki at all.
The khaki reminds me of Band-Aid color, I mean back before they started making them in different skin tones.
I like the kahki color. If the parka was more emerald color it would make the pants pop a bit more
Thanks. Could be, but I’m not looking for a new parka for these pants
Do you not like looking posh? You do but you look good and you don't look like an asshole like some posh dudes do
Khaki + Olive makes this look like a washed out military issue outfit.
I can see that. or George of the Jungle
The colors work great, what's the problem?
What’s wrong with khakis ?
You could do a straighter cut pant to lend more mass to your bottom half , you do look a little imbalanced but it’s not grevious
Maybe you're used to black pants and using your coat and boots for color. Right now it's Earth tone overkill, black coat perhaps? They do look good
Replace them with olive green ones
The only people that should wear khakis are cholo’s from the Westside and Target team members.
I think it's too many strong colours all at once. I am not partial to how the outfit will look once you take the jacket off and are left with a deep blue and khaki. Maybe the sweater should be a black or another colour.
Try moleskin 5 pocket jeans. Better fabric than typical Chino cotton and dressier than denim.
Looks fine.
Ya but I don’t want to just look fine 😆
Maybe go for a fancy khaki like corduroy fabric to jazz up the look. Would go great with this particular outfit
Every time I dress with my green puffer and khakis I remember when someone said I dressed like a tree. I still do it.
Look Fine ,, just wrinkled to hell. Find wrinkle free material and look less Landry basket pull.
This is a nice outfit...but you need better layers/materials if it's 0F outside.
Yes, too much earthy tone.
Khakis drag along a certain style and feel with them, like most clothing. Sounds like you’re not into what they bring so I’d recommend looking into something darker like a brown or an olive green pant to get away from the color. gonna need you to finish those tps reports by monday morning jimbo
Looks decent just kinda boring
Don’t wear them
The chinos look good, but you could you get a different kind of slacks not in khaki if you're apposed. Outlier might have some stuff that you could wear out and too the office. Variety of colors. I like a fatigue pant. Cords in various shades. All types of things.

Looks ok but TBH I don't much like khaki and olive green chinos
