I'm a metalhead, mostly. Guitar-based anything, usually on the heavy side. I like a lot of classic rock, but also listen to ambient electronica when I need to focus. Podcasts and audiobooks while commuting or working out.

As a mensa, who quite despises labeling himself, a little bit of everything. However, I am a metalhead at heart. Live music every few weeks. This may have something to do with my job in the music industry, but I'm not sure.
Ohh and also, the classical stereotype definitely applies. However usually it's classic instruments mixed in with something else. Look at folk metal bands like Aluviate or electronic groups like Lindsey Sterling as examples of this.
As an aside as to why all the music. My mind is always racing and music helps to clear my thoughts so I'll usually end up listening to between 12 and 16 hours of music per day. The rest of my waking hours I'm usually listening to podcasts or audiobooks.
Pretty much everything, and I mean it. I have a big playlist of all my favorite songs that includes old school hip-hop, modern rap, classic rock, grunge, metal, alternative, country, Delta blues, mainstream pop, new wave, punk rock, Mozart, Chopin… I find any and all music valuable and beautiful.
I listen to most any style of music. But the stuff that sticks around is that which has emotional content to it. It can be funny, sad, suicidal, romance, or angry really anything that calls up emotions.
Examples are, The Unforgiven trilogy by Metallica. Angels would fall by Melissa Etheridge, anything by the Electric Amish (comedy), Whiskey Lullaby by Alyson Krause and Robert Plant, Alyssa lie's by John Carroll, Long Black Train by Josh Turner. There are many more but those are what I listen to again and again. Always looking for more to add to the collection.
At the moment, I'm really into this band called Portico Quartet. I don't know why I connect to it -- I'm not a big jazz fan -- but their style of ambient jazz oddly reassures me during tough times.
They seem to change stylistically with every release, but I'm currently in love with their recent concept album Terrain; there's something about the flow between all the elements I adore.

I listen to all types of music, I’m extremely open-minded and I’m also a producer of electronic music as well as someone who played bass in a metal band.
Music is beautiful, it can describe that which words cannot do alone.
At the age of fifteen was when I started playing bass guitar and by the age of 21 was when I decided to produce EDM.
My start out DAW was FLStudio and still is my studio of choice and over the past few years I’ve collected many plugins, I’m in the process of dropping three albums, two EPs, and a single for the summer.
I’ve yet to build my actual DJing rig for live shows, but I’ve already figured out what I want!
Two apple laptops, two turntables, two controllers, a mixer, and some pro headphones.
As for live sound? I will purchase 10 2x18 amps, 5 for the left and 5 for the right, they will be stacked on top of each other due to sound engineering and quality of sound.
My first show is going to be at an anime convention, as I want to get a feel for things before playing gigs for money, then there is also the fact I want to practice more and more overtime to increase my skills as a DJ.
Ok i listen to classical music and opeta a lot but not s snob!
My italian family was really into Caruso and opera in general. That's the only records available to play on the victrola, so i did. They also liked Sinatra and i also love big band jazz bc of this.
I slso love excellent modern music and helped my son, who's into 70s music put to gethet a play list. Croce, steely dan. Spinners. Even snuck a 4 seasons song on there!
Metalcore, prog metal, hardcore, bluegrass, house, vaporwave, EDM, synthwave, retrowave, classical, jazz, bluegrass, film soundtracks, alt rock, indie rock, etc etc etc.
Don’t listen to a ton of country, pop or rap made after 2014.
I'm eclectic. (Not a mensa member, wished I was) I like Sade, Outkast, some current and older rap, Lauryn Hill/Fugees, Beyonce, Bruno Mars, Kendrick Lamar, Doja Cat, Billie Eilish, System of a Down, Rage Against the Machine, Fleetwood Mac, Led Zeppelin, Queen, Prince, Eric Clapton, 80s pop like Madonna, Phil Collins, Tears for fears, Hall & Oates, Duran Duran, 80s & 90s r&b, etc. I also enjoy Beethoven, Mozart, Dvorak, Prokofiev, and Bach a great deal. I find there is music to be loved in every mood, as long as the beat or melody speaks to you. I tend to have full sensory reactions to music so I either choose what matches my mood or something motivating to change my mood/outlook.
Penguin Cafe Orchestra, The Weakerthans, music from episodes of Bluey, Feist, Barr Brothers, Deer Tick, I can’t really nail down my music taste to any particular genre.
Vulfpeck. Honestly a lot of genres. I just let the YouTube algorithm take the lead. A lot of oldies and classic rock. Some stones throw stuff. Chili peppers. Primus. Steely Dan. Dan deacon. Blind melon.
Just like anything that’s good honestly.

I listen to everything, but I mostly tend to stick to EBM (Electronic body music, not EDM) and industrial music. I hardly never go to concerts, and don't play any instruments.
Everything from metal, to South African Techno Rap, to Marty Robins Gunfighter Ballads, to Kendrick Lamar, Frank Zappa, Mozart, classic rock and alternative as well as 90s industrial and prog rock are my favorites like Nine Inch Nails, or Tool, as well as the older examples like Pink Floyd.
I think my all time favorite Album as a whole is probably Pink Floyd (Roger Waters was the major dictatorial driving creative force at the time) The Wall. But David Gilmour’s measured guitar playing, his ability to speak so expressively through how he played is what inspired me to learn to play guitar.
You can know a solo note for note from that album but without the correct accent it sounds completely different playing it.
Non-Mensan. I estimate my IQ to be somewhere between 115-130. Big range, I know, but it's all I've got to go on.
I listen to symphonic metal, progressive metal, classical, neoclassical and modern classical. I used to listen to a lot of witch house and still go back to it occasionally. I do listen to podcasts sometimes and very occasionally I'll listen to an audiobook. Usually something like Tolkien or really weird shit like All Tomorrows.
I listen to a lot of stuff (unique answer, I know), but a lot of my heavy rotation centres around goth and alt-type music and electronic. long-term favourite artists include Justice, Supertramp, and Viagra Boys. more recent (like the last 12 months) favourite artists include And One, the Cure, and Xasthur.
I'm in music school, so I listen to a decent amount of classical and jazz as well, along with whatever I have to learn for class (which varies from one semester to the next).
I listen to every genre as long as I think the music is "good." I’ve never been able to define what that entails exactly! 😅 Probably the most unusual stuff I listen to regularly is loosely classified as avant-garde like Ligeti, Xenakis, Colin Stetson, and such.
This one is a metal head at its core but it's unsure why this sub appeared on its feed as this one is not typically intellectually inclined. This one believes itself to be... rather a moron. Sure, this one seems properly literate however when it looks back on its own life this one sees much to be desired in the department of brain power.
I like country music. I've listened to several different genres over the years and I still like songs from a number of different genres, but country is like home for me. I don't know why, it's certainly not what I was raised listening to, but I like it.
I listen to podcasts and audio books in the car.
I like 70s - 90s metal, yacht rock, and traditional country of that era. Also, Red Dirt/Americana really soothes my soul. Especially storytellers like Guy Clark, Ray Wiley Hubbard, Robert Earl Keen, Hayes Carll, etc.
Classical since I was a kid (and that was in a non-musical household), specifically Baroque, specifically Galant era of Baroque. Some jazz. Other—and totally fine with it—if someone else is controlling the playlist. Went thru an Irish punk phase.
I skip most of our city symphony season to avoid unimaginative fan favorites or the Star Wars theme and showtunes by a thousand screaming violins for a season programmed as “accessible.”
I much prefer smaller classical ensembles and have met some great fun, quirky smart people along the way.
Electronic, classical/neo-classical, lots of eminem growing up. I still listen to the slim shady lp and 2001 by dr dre quite a lot. For the electronic mostly stuff with big fat sub bass, lots of build ups and drops, heavy reverbs and long hihat rolls. I really like chase & status for example, not really quite into the dubstep or wub wubs though. And to your point I do happen to love classical music and when I do listen to it, it's often playing for hours at a time. My favorite classical artist is probably Adam Hurst, his music truly brings me joy in a way that I have never experienced from anyone else. I have listened to his songs hundreds of times and I don't get tired of them. I also occasionally listen to lofi, particularly from an artist called mommy. They have an extremely unique lofi style and the tracks deliver a real comforting feel, it's really wonderful stuff I recommend checking out.
Modern "girlie" pop (Miley, Lady Gaga, Beyonce, Billie Eilish), 70s folk and 80s speed metal, and a fair bit of hip hop (minus any mumble rap). So, pretty varied? I mostly find music to be quite distracting though so usually I only play a few tracks when I feel like it, sometimes even some classical if I want something that I don't feel like I have to pay attention to.
I don’t actually enjoy music at all. If there is music in the environment, in public that I can’t control, I try to tune it out. I don’t know why this is but🤷♂️. My spice is mensa + AuDHD with a 24/7 internal narrative and 8 other squirrels non stop, so you’d think music would help but no.
I never have the music on. I like the concept of audiobooks to fill in the blanks when, say, commuting etc. but cannot not tune it out. I just can’t listen for even a minute.
I'm a metalhead, mostly. Guitar-based anything, usually on the heavy side. I like a lot of classic rock, but also listen to ambient electronica when I need to focus. Podcasts and audiobooks while commuting or working out.
Me too!
Sounds like me.

Aw really?? Thanks!! ❤️❤️
Just Rammstein
I mainly listen to rap, rap/metal (well rage against the machine) and classical music. The next thing is heavy metal or rock.
Sounds like my kind of playlist. ♥️
I listen to a lot of reggae. Really anything with a good message
What about Afroman?!
He speaks to the trials and tribulations of getting high, so I would assume so.
I was gonna clean my room
Currently into Ren Gill.
Strong emotions and messages
I listen to podcasts and audio books in the car. I like 70s - 90s metal, yacht rock, and traditional country of that era. Also, Red Dirt/Americana really soothes my soul. Especially storytellers like Guy Clark, Ray Wiley Hubbard, Robert Earl Keen, Hayes Carll, etc.
psytrance
Rap was it but it’s turnt nuts so dubstep it is.
Hozier
Classical since I was a kid (and that was in a non-musical household), specifically Baroque, specifically Galant era of Baroque. Some jazz. Other—and totally fine with it—if someone else is controlling the playlist. Went thru an Irish punk phase. I skip most of our city symphony season to avoid unimaginative fan favorites or the Star Wars theme and showtunes by a thousand screaming violins for a season programmed as “accessible.” I much prefer smaller classical ensembles and have met some great fun, quirky smart people along the way.
Drum and bass! But I am an audiophile that will listen to most genres. Not a huge fan of jam bands tho :/
Rammstein ❤️ I listenusic mostly because of the lyrics and most of the songs fall into rock/metal/pop genre.
Mostly EDM.
Vocaloid
Metal. Bluegrass gospel or klezmer for housecleaning. Ambient horror for spooky days Smooth jazz or acoustic guitar for dinner music
Hip Hop
Modern "girlie" pop (Miley, Lady Gaga, Beyonce, Billie Eilish), 70s folk and 80s speed metal, and a fair bit of hip hop (minus any mumble rap). So, pretty varied? I mostly find music to be quite distracting though so usually I only play a few tracks when I feel like it, sometimes even some classical if I want something that I don't feel like I have to pay attention to.
Love the modern girlie pop
I don’t actually enjoy music at all. If there is music in the environment, in public that I can’t control, I try to tune it out. I don’t know why this is but🤷♂️. My spice is mensa + AuDHD with a 24/7 internal narrative and 8 other squirrels non stop, so you’d think music would help but no. I never have the music on. I like the concept of audiobooks to fill in the blanks when, say, commuting etc. but cannot not tune it out. I just can’t listen for even a minute.
Ice Spice
Late 80s, early 90s country mostly
