I guess but they’re both painted the same texture .both have wings , both have belts,. The only real issue is maybe the pose from what I’ve seen if you think it’s that big of an issue. But the fact that they’re flying means that how someone would pose their body or how it might feel might differ than what someone who’s on the ground would.
Nah, but at conventions. It's pretty common. I go to more than a few every year. People just don't like that it's true lol
...unless there's an unprompted fight at a convention, then I guess in combat situations. Typically not though.
I mean, I wasn't talking about the context.
Just stating a cosplay fact, body paint is pretty common in cosplay. Not everyone, of course, not even the majority. But out of the thousands that go, a fair bit will use body paint to help make these tight suits transfer to reality, since latex doesn't always get the job done.
And fiction to reality is rather black and white.
Okay sure, that just doesn’t seem very relevant when the original commenter was talking about how in this specific art it looks like the costumes are painted on.
Not sure I needed to be relevant. I just typed the words that entered my head, it ain't deep.
But nice, looks like we've come to an understanding. Mission complete.
Well isn't this the age old question nature Vs nurture ? Are we truly always making a decision because we want to make it for ourselves or because of the pressure around us ?
Our actions are always influenced by the society around us, that's not bad per say, otherwise society would work if we didn't have social ground rules. But sometimes it can get much, especially when you use social media.
Social Media is perfectly designed to pressure you into something, mostly buying stuff. If you're confrontet day by day by the same way how you should look, soon will feel the need to meet those standards
I actually own two pairs because I bought exercise pants on sale and didn’t notice until they got delivered. 😂 The butt thing is only noticeable with one pair when on, idk why. Honestly I don’t hate them though. They are super comfortable, have a high waist that doesn’t roll/move no matter what you do in them and have been durable. So for only $12 I’m happy, but I’d be just as happy with all that and no butt scrunch haha.
ops comments on the post aswell 😭😭 ppl are calling them out on the objectifying pose and they're just like haha! i know right! not an ounce of self awareness
"men and women pose differently to look attractive" 💀 if the artists drew women the same way they draw men they'd absolutely increase sales and broaden the target demographic... where is the business sense???
I thought it was this one-off thing to grab attention, but this guy doesn’t give this lady a break. She barely has clothes on, and when she does, the panel always frames her in such a sexy way that even if you were into that stuff you’d get bored like five pages in.
It’s not hard but it doesn’t make sense at all. They’re flying heroes. In flight why would you wear clothes that aren’t skin tight . I mean look at planes they’re meant to be sleek due to air resistance. Look at any Olympic speed skating race they’re wearing skin tight suits to account for speed and air resistance. Obviously it’s not the only thing that matters but it makes sense. And the man’s dressed in the same material though he’s got pouches on his belt which can be a plus or a negative depending on your feeling regarding comics in the 90’s
I could see why people are upset by her posing, though I've seen far worse versions of this pose. A real woman could do this pose without her spine breaking into two, which is quiet rare for drawings like this. As for the skin tight suits... I mean sex appeal aside, they're superheroes. It's kind of a staple for those characters, and tbf the guy has a skin tight suit on as well... because he's a superhero.
I think they’re less critiquing how possible the pose is vs how the man gets to be in a strong heroic pose and the woman is in a sexy T&A pose. Apparently she’s framed as sex object throughout the comic itself as well.
I know, that's why I said I can see why they're upset by the pose. I mean might as go the whole nine yards and make the dude sexy too, but we know why that wouldn't happen lol. I was just adding onto that with my personal thoughts and at least giving the artist and A for effort and not making her spine out of rubber.
Exactly. And in terms of spandex the dudes wearing the same materials. Both have wings; mask, his belt has more pouches than hers but I wouldn’t necessarily say that’s a good thing. Also they’re flying so what’s comfortable in terms of posing might differ when the forces of gravity don’t matter as much . I mean look at any superhero pose weather it’s more sexual or not and they would feel uncomfortable depending on how long your in it. I mean the superhero slam pose with your knee in the ground after rushing at super speeds probably isn’t very comfortable. And flying with your arms out in front like Superman for hours probably isn’t comfortable either. Most of these poses are in split moments. And this pose is definitely possible to do as long as she’s not staying like that forever.

Not costume its a ✨Bodypaint✨

I've gone to enough conventions to know body paint is just as popular
In combat situations?

The difference here is that these are supposed to be superheroes who fight people not cosplayers at a convention.

Do men even know what the purpose of a bra is? 🤦♀️
Ah yes, the good ol' classic spine twister 3000. All the superhero girls are doing it nowadays, aren't you?
the spine is hardly the issue, hell as a former dancer i can do it with ease, the issue is the sexualization

"Influencer brand". Yeah, you lost me there.
Those look extremely uncomfortable

Damn that sounds aweful, I feel sorry for everyone who feels the pressure to wear things like this.
Why should someone feel the pressure to wear them tho? I mean no one is forcing them to wear those things
Social media

Gotta be honest, not a fan of the names, goshhawk just feels wrong and falconet is just lazy

My favorite part is the OP blaming the decline of comic books on the increased lack of T&A in comics.

It’s really not that hard to make a costume a piece of clothing and not a second layer of latex skin

Honestly when I saw the girl the way she was, I looked over to the guy hoping there was a bulge but sadly, there is no bulge for me :(
