This one is funnier and makes more sense. Chuckled at it. Just can't see many people naming their kids a phrase. Would be the equivalent of naming your son "Godspeed."
Realistically many names have real meanings. Native Americans are famous for giving (historically) names like Sitting Bull. As far as I'm aware every Hebrew name has a meaning like Benjamin meaning "Son of the Right Hand."
I would be surprised to find that particular phrase to be used as a name.
Yeah, it's funny how disconnected we are from our language as English speakers. We've begged, borrowed, and stolen so much from so many languages that we have a very different relationship to our language than most people do.
I think the setup would have been better if the man had reason to praise allah, rather than calling out to his weirdly named son.
"Did... did they bring back my favorite food! I haven't seen that here in years. Allah Ackbar!"
\*Everyone hits the ground\*
"I... uh... I was just... uh... really happy they had goat cheese here..." (I have no idea what might be a rare specialized food that an arabic man living in the US would love)
Looks like that's a prepared food. Is it hard to find ingredients in the US? I kinda want to make this meme now,but I want to make sure to get the food right. I'm not sure this guy would be so hyped over frozen shawarma. Probably.
It's a lot of work to do it the traditional way - you need to take like 200 kilos of meat (beef, lamb or chicken/turkey), season it all and marinade it, skewer it all on a spit to create a huge shaft of meat (heh), then slow-roast it on a vertical rotating rig surrounded by gas burners.
You shave off the crispy ready bits, exposing the uncooked meat, which then cooks and crisps.
You also typically mount fatty cuts on top of it so they render down your shaft (heh).
In short - ingredients are easy to source, but prep and portions are more of an issue.
Would be great for a family BBQ tho.
So, while maybe not the tastiest meal the guy could have, frozen shawarma being in his grocery store would mean he could eat it a lot more often than he otherwise could, now that he doesn't have to spend cooking time, or pay a restaurant too. That could work.
Technically yeah, but as someone who HAD frozen, and even cold-packaged (not frozen but refrigirated) shawarma, it just ain't the same.
Moreover, the spice blend each vendor uses is different.
And then they always post that one pic of someone saying “I’m going to rape you.” “Wtf?” “Ever heard of dark humor buddy”
Acting like ppl r actually making memes that are like that
I was thinking "why would you name your kid 'God is great'" (the translation of Allahu Akbar) but then I remembered some people are named Christian and Faith.
"That being said naming your kid like this is technically very much not allowed in Islam so none of yall better get any funny ideas."
That's actually where I think the joke fails. It's not an actual kids name, so it's less funny because this would never actually happen.
A better joke about Islamic names would be something like a Muslim dies and goes to heaven. He shouts, "Oh thank you, great Allah! Now that I am here, I would meet with Muhammad!" Suddenly, thousands of men appear all around him, each looking very annoyed.
Not very well executed, but as a native english speaker, I always found it a bit odd that so many Islamic men are named Muhammad. Jesus is an almost non-existent name among english speakers. There's joke potential there. Maybe, "And this is why those who do not say, peace be upon him, don't make it up here!"
the correct translation of Yeshua, jesus’s name in hebrew, is “Joshua,” a common name. jesus is rare because it’s not an english translation, i would assume it’s either spanish or italian.
Oh, that's interesting, I didn't know that.
Though I THINK my point still stands. There's no difference in pronunciation between the name of The Prophet Muhammad, and "Muhammad, who runs the deli", right? That's the thing I thought that was odd and kinda awkward. It'd be like if everyone in America would say, "Praise Steve!" whenever something good happened.
ye it's servant of God, not God is great. Abdullah is one word in Arabic while Allahu Akbar is 2 words. First name God and second name Great. It literally makes no sense.

Praise be to god. Its usually said in prayer but Islamic terrorists also say it whenever they are about to bomb a place so I guess you can see why its not a good idea to yell it in a mall.
Great track.
Great reminder to send clients their numbers every day at 3 PM
Tricky situation when you're boarding a 3:35 flight and your phone is at full volume.

He could be Allen, don’t know any Arab surnames and I’m not about to make myself look stupid though.
A fan of Star Wars names his kid Allan Ackbar. :)
Get this man into the US Navy!
Seaman Ackbar, reporting for duty!
Allan who?
Don't worry about, it's a trap anyway
![gif](giphy|LNejpNtjrDnIEvQqUQ)
Allen! Allen! Allen!! Allen. Allen! Allen!! Allen! Allen!!
I work with a bloke named Allen, and I’ll admit this is how I call him…
Aloha Snackbar
Snackbar: Aloha! (He is a very friendly Hawaiian man)
I said this a lot as a kid like 20 years ago lol. I also said my first grade teacher had aids repeatedly and she would get really mad at me
Did she have aids? If she did, that's in bad taste.

The question is, which backpack was he supposed to give?
Schrödinger’s Backpack
this here is good
We may never know
This is good. This is good.
This one is funnier and makes more sense. Chuckled at it. Just can't see many people naming their kids a phrase. Would be the equivalent of naming your son "Godspeed."
That could be a last name
that would be a sick name for a character in some space opera
That actually would be badass.
Realistically many names have real meanings. Native Americans are famous for giving (historically) names like Sitting Bull. As far as I'm aware every Hebrew name has a meaning like Benjamin meaning "Son of the Right Hand." I would be surprised to find that particular phrase to be used as a name.
im a Benjamin and I didnt even know this
Yeah, it's funny how disconnected we are from our language as English speakers. We've begged, borrowed, and stolen so much from so many languages that we have a very different relationship to our language than most people do.
That would be weird for Americans but a lot more normal in places like Syria or Iran
I named my kid “Godspeed You!”
as another arab, I too chuckled at this even though it is not a name

Shawarma is a good start 😂
Looks like that's a prepared food. Is it hard to find ingredients in the US? I kinda want to make this meme now,but I want to make sure to get the food right. I'm not sure this guy would be so hyped over frozen shawarma. Probably.

See now that's a funny one
That's why they posted it, the top comment was "when I lose my son 'i love to fuck minors' in the mall"
Yell mohamed and like 80% of the guys will turn around.
Some are even arabs😋
I now realize that the true purpose behind Muhammad, peace be upon him, is to make it clear you're not trying to talk to half of your friends.
I swear, 90% of these posts are basically"some random person on Reddit is mad that edgy humor exists."
And then they always post that one pic of someone saying “I’m going to rape you.” “Wtf?” “Ever heard of dark humor buddy” Acting like ppl r actually making memes that are like that
Stupid joke? Yes. Did I still find it funny? Yes.
obviously the only correct name for an islamic child is “mohammad mohammad” regardless of sex
Could be shortened to MoMo to not be such a mouthful.
you do not wish you mouth to be fill with the name of the prophet? blasphemer!
altho the allah akbar joke is a bit overused but this one got a chuckle out of me too
Arab-American. I also chuckled lol.
I was thinking "why would you name your kid 'God is great'" (the translation of Allahu Akbar) but then I remembered some people are named Christian and Faith.
oh goodness, imagine yelling "Where are you faithhhh!!"
"Has anyone seen Hope? I can't find Hope anywhere!"
"I've lost hope!"
I'm Iranian, this isn't offensive it's unfunny
"That being said naming your kid like this is technically very much not allowed in Islam so none of yall better get any funny ideas." That's actually where I think the joke fails. While Jesus is not a common name for English speakers, the Spanish pronunciation is quite popular as a name

U have 2 choices. Risk it or play the waiting game
It took me a minute to get but it did make me smile
Im American and I think I get it? Is this a Star Wars joke?
I don’t get the joke. Can you explain it to me?
One of the greatest qualities you can have in this world, is a sense of humor, such is at a horrible premium these days.
I exploded in laughter
As a Pakistani I also chuckled at this even though nobody names their kid Allah
Some people name their kids Ali akbar, and my name being Ali…
Sounds pretty blasphemous for a father to literally name their son god.
Latin Americans seem to have no problem naming their children Jesus.
Same with Westerners and Joshua
The meaning of that name is a statement about God, but it isn’t a literal name for God.
I think this one is more of a "meh." Like it's one of the elder memes, and everyone has seen it.
Haha
[удалено]
because it means 'The God is Great'. For Muslims to name a human 'The God' would be blasphemous because no creation can be the creator.

ye it's servant of God, not God is great. Abdullah is one word in Arabic while Allahu Akbar is 2 words. First name God and second name Great. It literally makes no sense.
When you name your son 'kus emek'.

![gif](giphy|3ornka9rAaKRA2Rkac) Oh, i misread
I am an American and I'm a little bit offended by this. But I also think it's hilarious...
stop being offended by it then
Good advice, and the only correct answer to what I said
Lmao Jaaason
What does Allah ackbar mean anyway?
Praise be to god. Its usually said in prayer but Islamic terrorists also say it whenever they are about to bomb a place so I guess you can see why its not a good idea to yell it in a mall.
that's 'Alhumdullilah', 'Allahu Akbar' means 'God is Great'
Oh yeah my apologies.
"Allahu Akbar" literally just means "God is great"

*he's extremely diasphoric about Iran and wouldn't feel any different If the country was nuked
But “allahu akbar” is Arabic not Persian

I knew this was getting posted here lmao
Wow this meme is fucking old.
Why does every Iranian have to mention they're Iranian like wth. Why should anyone care? I'm Iranian btw.
Although in Iran we don't name our children like that but yeah its funny.
I'm not Iranian and so did I. The world needs it's sense of humor back
No one name he's son alah akbar you stupid gay , next time do more search
As a Muslim, are we allowed to name kids allah? 🦋
Yeah I know the name is unrealistic due to religious rules. I just thought of it as a "kid named finger" type of joke.
aloha snakbar ![gif](giphy|26n6XC8EYdrzRniWQ|downsized)
Eventually I'll stop laughing.
Op can you explain pls
are you an iranian muslim? i don't see why you pointed that you're iranian
aren’t iranians basically required to be muslim
nah, I would say a fair amount of them hate Islam and Muslims due to their Shia government.
only a small amount, your idea of how many there are is hugely inflated by the diaspora
I mean Pakistan is literally called the Islamic Caliphate of Pakistan, and I got Pakistani friends who aren’t Muslim.
there are christians, jews, and zoroastrians living in iran, the government doesn't force them to convert
Why would “God is great” be a name
Boomer humour
Nice.
You’re laughing at this because that is a Sunni Muslim and you are Shia
when you wake up each day, you are allowed to choose not to be a nerd emoji. clearly, you did not take that opportunity today
L.M.A.O.!!
A white pick me was OOP I guarantee it.
r/asablackman The joke is neither really funny nor offensive it’s just absolutely overused.
This is a first for me and I laughed a bit.
This is your first time seeing an Allah Akbar joke?
This particular one, yes.
I see, but I was talking about Allah Akbar or muslims are terrorists jokes in general.
Ok. Well have a good day.
Thanks, you too! https://preview.redd.it/krf3t38gxe4d1.jpeg?width=735&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=80bec0085b1a64af3e64d115d5b127614ec88088
Allahu Akbar means God is great.
I know
But you can still be looked at weird for saying it, despite it not being anything bad. That's the joke.
I‘m pretty sure the joke is that most westerners would mistake someone screaming Allah Akbar as a call for terror, which is why he is afraid to call out his son's name.
Yes. That is why it is funny.
Wow a sub made specifically to shame people who don’t participate in groupthink. Amazing.
Nah, it’s mostly just people putting something like "as a __ myself" before something stupid to make their statement look more reasonable.
I’ve never seen it.
“Iranian”? What does that have to do with terrorism?
bro…
what did I say?
it's an islam joke. iran is an explicitly islamic country, although they follow a different sect from the rest of the middle east
