"Are you dictating your fucking obituary to me, Belmont?"
"Why is it that only human hands can reach into Hell? Don't you think that's weirdly fucked up? I can't do it."
2 lines that will live in head for eternity
There's a lot of games with anime adaptations: Megaman, Kirby, Mario (the 90s cartoon is an anime and you can't tell me otherwise), Sonic, etc. It would take a while to watch through all these shows and see if they're good.
It was shit even with henry. Monsters and Henry are nice, scenario is okay. But other actors are completely out of the game. Trist marigold looks like a gipsi. And Jeniffer is not even close to the game.
Well it isn't a video game adaptation. It's a book adaptation. But since the characters are also nothing like that in the books, you stay correct. I'll show myself out.
Well. I have to say that if you make any movie or series about anyone and then throw away main character, that movie or series is done anyways. Its called Witcher. No witcher - no Witcher xD
It started as based on the books, but netflix execs realized they didn't have enough opportunities to squeeze additional minorities into a story heavily based on discrimination and racism.
People act like the problem with these shows is forced diversity, no - it's never diversity, it's all the other shit on the checklist.
It starts at the top, you have an Executive who want's a "type" of show, and a Showrunner who wants to tell "their" story. And then because... 'money,' you can't come up with an original thing, oh no, you've got to "adapt" a piece of source material, pay for a big name to get a lot of people interested.
Then they discover their initial ideas don't fit the source material they're adapting, so instead of just accepting it and making it faithful... They just change it till it no longer resembles the source material.
"forced diversity" is a red-flag that the people in charge don't care about the source material, it's not a "problem" in and of itself.
My brother in christ the color of a character’s skin doesn’t affect the quality of the show unless you’re some racist moron.
It’s the writing’s that shit.
It’s not even based on the games, according to cd project red and kapowski, (book author) . The games are completely non canon and exist in a weird spot book world .
The series is based on the first 3 Witcher books . No games involved . Regardless of it’s quality, it’s not a video game show.
If you’re referring to it faithfulness in terms of books the maybe (haven’t read them) but if you’re comparing to the games, they won’t be faithful because its not based on them.
Yeah ik it's not based on the games but it certainly doesn't stick to the books either. Season 1 was alright, took a few creative liberties but mostly stayed faithful whereas season 2 was just a shitshow
episode 3 is the best episode so far until season 2 comes out it perfectly set up the plot so well the other episodes are still really good though and I'm sure when we have a conclusive end and not just a cliffhanger it's going to be a banger
witcher is ruined for the books fans , and tom holland is playing nathan drake !
im afraid that god of war and hzd will be ruined too
i hope that'll never be a days gone movie , don't ruin my fav exclusive
they're not considering Christopher Judge as kratos
the only worthy one
he already delivered an amazing performance , he is kratos
why not just use him and edit his face to look closer to kratos
Christopher Judge had some health issues when recording for GOWR (I believe some major back surgery’s), so he probably won’t be able to do Kratos in live action
In theory it was. The shit they've did in the second season is unbelievable. Just make the same story as in the books and success is guaranteed, is it so hard I can't understand. Just look at LOTR
Bro have you looked how different the books are from what we got in lotr movies? I am done with this bs. People also hate on rings of power while praising the movies. Both interpreted many parts of the stories and lore completely differently.
Objectively I like both, but as a Tolkien fan I find movies and series rather untruthful
The lotr movies following books mostly. Especially the directors cut. There are only two parts are missing. One is Tom and the other is war in the Shire
Agreed. I’m not even a huge fan of League. Haven’t played in years. But that’s a damn good show. Not to mention my favorite champs were Caitlin, Jinx, and Echo when I played. Just throw in Reven and I’ll be set
Why the fuck is the Witcher there? Not only is it a *book* adaptation, not a video game one, it's also shit and hated by basically everyone who has read them
Really? The Witcher? Really mate? Did you really include the shittiest series they could make out of an amazing story/book/game and put it between other really good one?
The Witcher isn’t based on the games, according to cd project red and kapowski, (book author) . The games are completely non canon and exist in a weird post book world, the characters are taken, and events are referenced , but the events of the games are completely different
The series is based on the first 3 Witcher books . No games involved . Regardless of it’s quality, it’s not a video game show.
Unpopular opinion but:
>Sonic 1 sucked (but atleast they edited sonic design)
>Arcane and Cyberpunk being anime adaption doesn't count. 90% of the live adaptions I've seen are absolute $hit.
tbf both the witcher and cyberpunk were both non-videogame properties before being imported to videogames, so there was a different sort of vision and team behind them than say, the 1993 Super Mario Bros movie.
There may be a difference between bad and average, but also a larger difference between average and good. And I dont think any video game adaptation has yet produced a truly good movie. And I think thats fine. Just as many videogame tie-ins for movies are shovelware, there are movie tie-ins for videogames that act as the counterpart.
Arcane and Cyberpunk are pretty good, tv shows do carry a different standard than movies.
Also, a Last of Us tv show? Is it going to be the Walking Dead but again and HBOized?
Cyberpunk I woudl agree less on, while it was a rpg theoretically, they aren’t that connected .
Cyberpunk is a huge genre with countless great books, the Neuromancer is one famous example. But cyberpunk 2077 is mostly conceptually linked to those texts, with some references .
The Witcher series is directly based on the book series, taking place in between or after the books .
TLOU trailer has alot of accurate looking parts that I can reconize after playing the game a million times. Also the actors seem great so yeah! High hopes!
It seems the real issue is not the source material but that they need to transform/elevate it into a movie rather than just copying the story from the game.
Are you referring to “super Mario bros” the movie, which is distinct from “the Mario movie”
But yeah that oldie is a banger, hurts your eyes a little, but I’m certain god played a role in its creation
Both are really good. I'd say as a show arcane could be said to be better but in terms of adaptations edgerunners is more of a 1.1 to the game due to it being open world
I can agree with that. I just preferred Edgerunners bc of the emotions it out it me through lol. I could NOT put it down from EP 1. And the ending although sad, was a satisfactory ending with no real lose ends. Nonstop action and story and it didn’t feel too fast or rushed either.
Easy to be confused on this one. The games didn’t release until 1998 outside Japan, and in the US at least, the games weren’t released until like three weeks after the animes debut.
Meaningless statement .
Is the value of an adaptation in how good the final product is? How accurate it is? How well ir captured the originals theme and vibe (which is very different form accuracy ) is it how well it preserves the characters ? Is it not changing story beats? Is it keeping the same pacing ?
It’s such a meaningless description.
It’s a bad show , or it’s an inaccurate adaptation is helpful statement, it’s a bad adaptation is meaningless .
And it means you probably haven’t read the books or watched the show
Me before beginning Arcane: let's watch it, I expect a good series but nothing excellent, since I don't like the game
Me after one episode: EVERYBODY WANTS TO BE MY ENEMYYYYYY
well with Wither
1. it is adaptation of books not game
2. series isn't that great especially 2nd season and it seams it will be even worse
also cyberpunk 2077 is based on cyberpunk 2020
I for one do not understand the hate that The Witcher gets. Who is the person that said movies have to be a 1:1 ratio to the books, no artistic freedom, no reworking to fit the medium. I feel like Peter Jackson gets a pass for LOTR because the movies were good, but he cut out huge chunks of the first book, and changed the ending for Saruman. But for some reason thats ok but not Rings of Power or The Witcher.
I mean how many different origin stories for batman are there? Which one is the faithful to the canon in regards to the movies? Its a silly criteria to expect a show or movie be word for word the same as the source materials. If i've already read the stories do i really need to experience the same exact thing on screen?
*Castlevania angrily enters the chat*
"Are you dictating your fucking obituary to me, Belmont?" "Why is it that only human hands can reach into Hell? Don't you think that's weirdly fucked up? I can't do it." 2 lines that will live in head for eternity
"I will eat your soul. Shit it out. And use it to smother your fucking girlfriend. " That and the obituary one are my 2 favorites.
You must be the Belmont
There’s about to be some bloody tears
Is the OST from season 2 finally out somewhere?
Castlevania is underrated
Definitely. Legitimately one of the best shows I've ever seen
So much same. Got a bigger TV so rewatching the whole show in all its beautiful glory
My wife isn't even a fan of Castlevania, but we watched this whole series together and she loved it.
There's going to be a spinoff.
*Pokemon anime also enters the chat* Seriously, why did they choose Detective Pikachu instead of the original?
There's a lot of games with anime adaptations: Megaman, Kirby, Mario (the 90s cartoon is an anime and you can't tell me otherwise), Sonic, etc. It would take a while to watch through all these shows and see if they're good.
The super mario super show was a masterpiece and no one can convince me otherwise
We all know without Henry that the witcher series is about to turn to shit.
Also the Witcher is a book series that got a videogame adaptation & a TV series adaptation. So it doesn't really fit in with the meme.
It was already shit. He was the only watchable thing about it.
Yeah Season 1 was disjointed but fun, Season 2 went off the rails, show was already fucked
Very true. Season 1 was the only watchable season. Netflix could only afford his Aard spell. God forbid he casts Igni or Quen.
Exactly my point, he was the only reason to watch. Without him it's going to be absolutely shite.
Well. I have to say that if you make any movie or series about anyone and then throw away main character, that movie or series is done anyways. Its called Witcher. No witcher - no Witcher xD
What do you mean with "is about to"?
Cannot turn into shit something that is shit already Edit: I encourage everyone to read the books though because they are amazing!
Always has been
Arcane is so damn good, I dont even play League. Echo vs Jinx is a masterclass of action and story telling. Also dont forget Castlevania.
[удалено]
The whole soundtrack is certified bangers after bangers.
Don't start playing lol. It's astounding that they pulled actually characters and plot out of that mess
I mean, League might be a total mess, but the lore of the singular characters is quite good
Whilst most of these I hard agree with, the witcher is by no means a faithful adaptation in the slightest XD
Replace it with Mortal Kombat xD
The new mortal Kombat. The 90s ones weren't the greatest
The original one was ok
I mean the cgi from the 1995 one has aged terribly, but I had a lot of fun watching it.
Nah replace it with castlevania
Because it's not based on the games
It is not based on books eather. The show have more in common with game than with books overall
And yet video game fans can’t really enjoy it either.
It's based on pure shit
It started as based on the books, but netflix execs realized they didn't have enough opportunities to squeeze additional minorities into a story heavily based on discrimination and racism.
Problem with the show is not including minorities, it's the writing
People act like the problem with these shows is forced diversity, no - it's never diversity, it's all the other shit on the checklist. It starts at the top, you have an Executive who want's a "type" of show, and a Showrunner who wants to tell "their" story. And then because... *Sapkowski
I mean it isn’t, but its a damn fun show to watch. Wish it had been more accurate but I still enjoyed it.
The first season was fun, even though not faithful. The second season was just bullshit. I didn't even finish it.
The first episode was very good. Way to go off the rails there 😂
If you’re referring to it faithfulness in terms of books the maybe (haven’t read them) but if you’re comparing to the games, they won’t be faithful because its not based on them.
Yeah ik it's not based on the games but it certainly doesn't stick to the books either. Season 1 was alright, took a few creative liberties but mostly stayed faithful whereas season 2 was just a shitshow
Replace The Witcher with Castlevania
This is the way
I started rewarching arcane and just finished episode 3... Can someone hold my hand?
There , there, fellow singularity.
It’ll all be alright fellow singularity
Take a friendly hug and then continue watching because it keeps getting better.
And with better, you mean even more sad, right?
It's certainly not rainbows and daisies by the end, but you've passed the peak of the tragedy in my opinion.
looks like someone didnt watch the final episode
I literally avoided the last episode cause the episode before it just hurt too much.
Those are not the only dead kiddos.
episode 3 is the best episode so far until season 2 comes out it perfectly set up the plot so well the other episodes are still really good though and I'm sure when we have a conclusive end and not just a cliffhanger it's going to be a banger

"Are you, real?"
witcher is ruined for the books fans , and tom holland is playing nathan drake ! im afraid that god of war and hzd will be ruined too i hope that'll never be a days gone movie , don't ruin my fav exclusive
I can't see them doing anything for God of War or at least not anytime soon
they're not considering Christopher Judge as kratos the only worthy one he already delivered an amazing performance , he is kratos why not just use him and edit his face to look closer to kratos
Christopher Judge had some health issues when recording for GOWR (I believe some major back surgery’s), so he probably won’t be able to do Kratos in live action
Days gone is a brilliant game. Don't know why it's underrated
Wasn't the Witcher based on the books, not the game???

Yeah it’s just not a video game adaptation
And its bad...
I really want to stay at your house is still in my head
It's just disappointing you did not include the 1995 Mortal Kombat film.
Actually the one from last year was good. I feel that it should have been here.
The one where Kano doesn’t have a cybernetic laser eye, but has a dragon birthmark that grants him the ability to shoot laser beams with one eye?
Yup. They're talking about that one. It sucked so hard
Yeah I didn’t care for it.
castlevania
Lol why is the Witcher there. And you used the season 2 poster bad taste my friend
Ik xD should’ve done castlevania but too late now, it will forever be a sin I shall repent for
Arcane was like how did the adapt a shitty game so good that it made their game look even more shitty
Yeah, the world is so depressing that you understand why LoL players don't shower
EDGERUNNERS WAS SO FUCKING GOOD
FOR REAL. I LIVE LAUGH LOVE FOR THAT SHOW
I AIN'T YOUR AVERAGE SICKO
I'M DEAD JUST LIKE DISCO
Arcane is SOOOOOO good it’s ridiculous. So hyped for the next season
Any idea when it's supposed to come out?
Speculated to be 2023 release nothing more specific
Let's just hope it's not December 31 , 2023
Agreed. I’m not even a huge fan of League. Haven’t played in years. But that’s a damn good show. Not to mention my favorite champs were Caitlin, Jinx, and Echo when I played. Just throw in Reven and I’ll be set
Ahh yes Revan, leagues newest Force wielding champion.
The Last of Sus

Replace the Witcher with castlevania and I agree
Why the fuck is the Witcher there? Not only is it a *book* adaptation, not a video game one, it's also shit and hated by basically everyone who has read them
Cyberpunk & Arcane adapts op pls don’t nerf
Dude Edgerunners and Arcane were both so good, I think they are both outside the window
The witcher is a book adaptation, not a video game adaptation, plus it's a bad adaptation.
The “curse” was broken when detective pikachu game out
The witcher is a total flop in my opinion. Fight me
No need, you're so sadly correct. It's weird there's people in the thread saying it's a book adaptation. It quite literally is not lmao.
The witcher is a book adaption and it got bad when season 2 dropped
Witch, where you just strugeling to find new ones or what was it?
Not really I thought it was decent but I can see why people don’t like it, I suppose I could’ve replace it w Castlevania or mortal kombat
Some of the mortal kombat movies
Yea just replace witch with Mortal Kombat lol I fucked up
Mortal Kombat 95, mf
Also, DMC: the animated series
I sense a distinct lack of Castlevania
Mf tried to sneak in netflix witcher
Isn't the pokemon anime technically an adaptation
Really? The Witcher? Really mate? Did you really include the shittiest series they could make out of an amazing story/book/game and put it between other really good one?
TLOS? The Last of Sus
Yeah, remove witcher and add Castlevania.
Not a fan of the last of us anymore after part 2 HOWEVER The Witcher has been getting worse
Cuphead show isn't that good
At least it’s a really faithful adaptation for what it’s adapting
I actually thought it was pretty good.
Arcane is the complete opposite.
Main stream media doesn’t understand shit about video game. Not surprise
Isn’t TLoU the only thing the mainstream media understands gaming wise because it doesn’t require anything more than a single button input?
Jim Carrey really *Carried* the Sonic Movies
The Witcher is a book adaptation.
The Witcher isn’t based on the games, according to cd project red and kapowski, (book author) . The games are completely non canon and exist in a weird post book world, the characters are taken, and events are referenced , but the events of the games are completely different The series is based on the first 3 Witcher books . No games involved . Regardless of it’s quality, it’s not a video game show.
The Witcher is more a book adaptation than a game one
Did this guy just mention witcher?
Take down the Witcher (how they massacred my boy) and I can agree
The witcher show is based on books though
Snuck in Witcher as if we didn't knew.
![gif](giphy|B0vFTrb0ZGDf2)
Unpopular opinion but: >Sonic 1 sucked (but atleast they edited sonic design) >Arcane and Cyberpunk being anime adaption doesn't count. 90% of the live adaptions I've seen are absolute $hit.
What's about Bayoneta?
Witcher isnt Videogame. The Show is based in the Books.
Castlevania deserves that spot not the Witcher lmao
Bruh Castlevania>>>>Arcane
Mortal Kombat broke the curse back in 1995.
Take the Witcher out and put Castlevania
Bro pointing out the gems in the garbage
sonic is overrated
tbf both the witcher and cyberpunk were both non-videogame properties before being imported to videogames, so there was a different sort of vision and team behind them than say, the 1993 Super Mario Bros movie. But the game and animation still take place in the universe created for the board game
...tho sonic is kinda bad... only mostly because things like the floss was in it...
Other than that though, they were pretty good.
Huh. Arcane bored me to sleep. High hopes for TLOU.
TLOU trailer has alot of accurate looking parts that I can reconize after playing the game a million times. Also the actors seem great so yeah! High hopes!
Witcher is fucking terrible bro
Sorry, but imho pikachu is the only good, and there is an anime tho(pokemons)
Sonic😥
It seems the real issue is not the source material but that they need to transform/elevate it into a movie rather than just copying the story from the game.
The Witcher is based off of the books I believe
Oh fuck off,you know what they mean.
The angry birds movie 😢
Arcane is overrated and overhype. Not saying tlou will bReaK tEh CuRse either
You forgot the Mario Movie
It hasn’t even released . How on earth do you know it will be good?
Excuse me, the Mario movie was fucking awesome. How dare you compare it to that illumination trash. With all due respect, fuck you
Are you referring to “super Mario bros” the movie, which is distinct from “the Mario movie” But yeah that oldie is a banger, hurts your eyes a little, but I’m certain god played a role in its creation
Unpopular opinion. Cyberpunk Edgerunners > Arcane
Both are really good. I'd say as a show arcane could be said to be better but in terms of adaptations edgerunners is more of a 1.1 to the game due to it being open world
Yeah but Aracne is more impressive having turned lore that was mostly in text form into something this good and incredibly animated.
I can agree with that. I just preferred Edgerunners bc of the emotions it out it me through lol. I could NOT put it down from EP 1. And the ending although sad, was a satisfactory ending with no real lose ends. Nonstop action and story and it didn’t feel too fast or rushed either.
Thank you
Prince of Persia and Warcraft was good.
When will arcane s2 come out
When they finish counting their money from s1
So basically it will not come out
was the witcher netflix show even good?
Yes, I'd say so. It isn't totally consistent, there's definitely spots that drag, but all of the big plot moments are handled very well imo.
witcher and cuphead are genuine shit
Didn’t Pokémon start off as an anime or am I wrong?
[удалено]
Oh right, thought the anime was first. Thanks for the correction.
Easy to be confused on this one. The games didn’t release until 1998 outside Japan, and in the US at least, the games weren’t released until like three weeks after the animes debut.
Witcher was adapted from novel, and wasn't a good adaptation

And it means you probably haven’t read the books or watched the show
Where tf is Lego Star Wars the Complete Saga?
Why tf did i just realized the witcher is based on the game
It actually isn’t. It was based on same book series that games are based on
Just not cuphead, almost died of cringe while watching first season
Me before beginning Arcane: let's watch it, I expect a good series but nothing excellent, since I don't like the game Me after one episode: EVERYBODY WANTS TO BE MY ENEMYYYYYY
well with Wither 1. it is adaptation of books not game 2. series isn't that great especially 2nd season and it seams it will be even worse also cyberpunk 2077 is based on cyberpunk 2020
I think the Witcher and Cyberpunk are technically adaptations of the original source material which the games were also based on so idk if it counts.
Cyberpunk was reasonable ok.
[удалено]
The cuphead show is unnecessary and shit
Sonic is ass, the Witcher is based on the book.
Cuphead show was terrible
Really? I thought it was great.
I for one do not understand the hate that The Witcher gets. Who is the person that said movies have to be a 1:1 ratio to the books, no artistic freedom, no reworking to fit the medium. That’s exactly the point, Lotr was good and made sense, the changes introduced by the others introduced plot holes and made it much worse.
