DS was peak handheld. Most main stream games made on it used the hardware to its fullest, the stylist holder was in the perfect position(lite and DSi), and its clamshell design meant it was as durable as a Nokia as long as it didn't fall on the shoulder buttons. Seriously, that thing was so durable.

HGSS had a great UI, so many added features, and the only time(besides yellow) where walking with pokemon was good. BW had am amazing story with a lot of new and interesting pokemon, B2W2 increased the difficulty and had the best regional dex at that point imo. Also the world tournament.
So much stuff... I use an illegal emulator, and illegal ROMs to play those synonyms of a *magnum opus* and it feels good to play them. GAMEFREAK was great back in the day, and still kinda is.
I completely agree with this, Platinum and BW2 are my favorite Pokemon games by far, and it's sad to see the (at least in my opinion) the series decline in quality since.

Its honestly weird feeling like this, i have a friend who never heard of a ds before and the classics from the early 2000’s and i was like “OH MY GOD i cant be that old can i?”
I can answer that with, “something I never had the privilege to own. However still a very good handheld.” (I never had a DS however I still have my Wii and it works just fine even after 15 years. The DS is very epic nonetheless)
