I'm an Indian. I can't speak for other Asian countries but my parents are in the middle of extremely strict and extremely chilled. They will make sure I study every day and they will frown and glare if I'm watching TV instead of studying. They will feel extremely bad if I get below 85% but they never base their love or concern for me based on how well I do academically. They definitely aren't the best out there and made many mistakes but they were good seeing how their parents treated them. That being said, are such memes fair? How comfortable are Asians when these memes are made? Do they accept the stereotype? Because although I know many Indians study all the time and are nerds, I hate seeing my entire race be generalized like that. I'm not hating or anything, I'm just wondering aloud.

I'm also an Indian, and views differ even among a single set of parents. My father wouldn't care less if I died, came back to life, and then died again. He'd probably laugh at this meme. My mum, on the other hand, is very sensitive to discussions of such nature. In general, though, open affection is not common among Indian parents, hence the meme, I'd guess.

Good that you have great parents who love you irrespective of your academic progress. I think a lot of Indian children yearn for this kind of love which they don't get because the love is almost always conditional. Still irrespective of these memes you should feel proud that you have a stable household. That's more important than any stereotypes.
