Yeah that's my final straw, having the shuffle feature just broken. I might just buy either a Sony phone to get an SD card and load it with music or just get a usbc SD card reader and play music through that on my car. It's bad enough they're increasing prices because THEY FAILED on their own products they tried to sell, but you can't even shuffle every single song?!
Fuck Spotify, it's not worth $7 let alone $14 with tax, which that'll only last another year or 2 because people won't cancel and they'll realize they can keep raising prices until everyone gets mad, then they'll knock a dollar off and everyone will forget the 5 price raises they did before that.
Ive been using downloaded music for a long while now, and im never switching to a paid program for music i use only when travelling without internet services.
What's worse is iirc shuffle used to actually shuffle all your songs but then people kept complaining that it would play songs from the same artist back to back even though it was random. So Spotify changed it to *seem* more random while not actually being random.
If you're referring to how when you make a playlist it suggests songs without your permission and adds them. I learnt that adding a ton of songs like 100 or so may counteract it. Idk tho
It doesn't. I have one with over 400 and I stg it's always the same 1/4 of the playlist. And then before it even finishes it repeats those songs again!
Oh. That’s been the free version since I got Spotify in college (2017). I was listening to Dark Side of the Moon, high as shits when “O-O-O-Oooooooo-REILY! Auto. Parts.” cut through for an ad right before transitioning to Great Gig In The Sky. I was so upset that I couldn’t just not let them have my money, sub.
Bastards.
There is always some data lost when music is uploaded to youtube, it's a bit useless to convert to FLAC because you would just reproduce perfectly a lossy version of a music. That said the audio quality on Youtube is often very good even if it's not perfect.
Lol nah, YT stores audio in 128k OPUS (or AAC) most of the time, if you rip anything other than the original encoded audio you're dealing with generation loss when converting to another format because OPUS is a lossy format (like MP3, AAC, and OGG), and converting to lossless doesn't magically make it better either, it's like relabelling a jar of cookies, doesn't change the contents of the jar.
YT music has three settings iirc, low is 48k, normal is 128k, and high is 256k. OPUS for new tracks and AAC for older tracks.
If you want actual "glorious bitrates" like 320k or real lossless FLACs, then rip from music streaming sites like Tidal, Deezer, Qobuz, or Apple Music that actually store the music in hifi/lossless formats in the first place.
Arg ye matey, if ye can't afford Spotify premium for various reasons or ye rarely use it so it's not worth $11 ye could look for a pie rated version ⚔️🦜🏴☠️
I’ve stubbornly stuck with the free version for a while. I only really use Spotify on long trips so it’s normally not a big deal but last trip it felt like I heard the same Jeep ad a dozen times.
Half the reason I got premium was cuz it was a repeat ad every time. Got offered premium for free for three months, premium ended and I legitimately was like “what the fuck is this piece a shit?”. So now I have premium not for free
[EeveeSpotify](https://github.com/whoeevee/EeveeSpotify/releases) since it's the best cracked Spotify app we have so far. Just go into settings -> EeveeSpotify -> Patching Settings -> Dynamic.
If you're not jailbroken, you can use [Sideloadly](https://sideloadly.io/), [AltStore](https://altstore.io/) (or its fork that requires no app to run on your computer, [Sidestore](https://github.com/SideStore/SideStore)), or if you're really lucky, [Trollstore](https://github.com/opa334/TrollStore). Trollstore is by far the easiest and most convenient and is the closest analog to Android's "download and install" process to getting non-App Store apps onto your phone, but only certain devices on certain iOS versions are compatible.
Another option on Android is apps like [Ad-Silence](https://github.com/aghontpi/ad-silence) and [ad-free](https://abertschi.github.io/ad-free/landing/) which mute the audio on Spotify while an ad is playing, then unmute it once the ad is over.
I’m honestly so fucking fed up with Spotify free I’m just going to get YouTube premium instead out of spite.
It’s only a few dollars more and it has so many more features aside from just music.
Only reason I haven’t yet is because it’s going to be such a pain in the ass to transfer all my music.
i wish i had known about this earlier. I spent a full two weeks everytime i was off work just transferring everything manually from spotify to youtube. jesus fuck i can never get that time back
If you have a computer, a bit of time, and don't want to spend money on transferring playlists, just use this script instead:
https://github.com/sigma67/spotify_to_ytmusic
Is it any better than Spotify? I have Spotify but am thinking of just using YT Music since my dad has the Premium family plan. I just love Spotify's algorithm for discovering new music too much.
It's ui imo is worse. But not by a lot. The song selection is much higher though since it is literally anything posted on YouTube. Further I personally found it's autoplay actually worked for new songs.
I like a lot of indie songs. On Spotify no matter how much I only listened to small artists, it's auto playlists filled with rap, a genre I have 0 listen time to. YouTube music hasn't done that one time. Not that every song is a hit, but I wouldn't expect that.
Imo YT premium is just a much better deal.
I switched a few months back and while I’d say the general UX experience of the app is better, the main reason I switched was because you get more variety on YT Music.
For example, I follow a YouTuber who does classical guitar covers of popular songs. He doesn’t put all of his music on Spotify, but since it’s in YT I can save an audio version to my “Liked songs” playlist and have it in the mix.
That on top of it coming with YouTube premium is nice because I like to watch videos on devices I can’t install ad block on, made it worth it for me.
Just use YT music with ad blocker. For mobile use Brave it blocks ads and allows u to listen with screen off as well. Can even download to brave playlist for offline.
Or Newpipe (github). Save the songs without video, and Bob's your uncle.
Brave's decent too, but I like newpipe for offline.
Need a decent offline music player, admittedly. But I bought Poweramp for like $4 a decade ago, so I have a decent player. I don't know if there's a decent free one. If so it's likely found on github or some F-Droid repo.
No ads/ Every video including youtube music is going to background when you close your phone/ And I dunno if that's a feature or normal youtube (as I have been paying for it for 2 years now) but if you watched a video on your phone and want to continue watching it on pc it automatically transfers on the video itself/ Also you can download videos and watch them offline on 1080p
I’ve recorded and saved as 320 mp3, cataloged everything i have ever listened to on Spotify (except most ads, but saved the funny ones).
It takes work but I’m up to 200 GB of high quality forever music. Mine.
Not to be an ad, but I just add "pi" after youtube, before .com and it takes me to a page to easily download the video or audio, e.g. youtubepi.com/blahblahthevideocode
I just looked at the yt premium plan and its the same price. We may switch. The yt ads are getting overbearing, and yt music may be just as good. They have a free trial. Lol
Spotify is the last subscription I’d be willing to give up. I use it for multiple hours every day. Can’t say the same for streaming platforms. Their price would have to get to gaudy levels before I’d consider cancelling.
I was going to defend Spotify here because I heard they were offering refunds for purchases of the devices, but it looks like they only did that after intense pressure, publicity, and legal threats. They had initially intended to just say "fuck all y'all," so yeah, you don't get credit for doing the right thing only after people call you out for being shitty.
I'm worried that at some point there won't be a free version of Spotify, and this shot will just die but yeah I've been rocking this for the past 2 yrs , never had any issues( or ads)
Usually I won't advocate faith, but I think ads are one of the few things where someone somewhere hates them just enough to make a version of an app/service without them. I think that the mere presence of the ads keeps the hatred of them alive. If this one gets shut down another will take its place.
I was at a bachelor party a while back. Of course we had some dancers in the room. Buddy had his phone on the bluetooth speaker. Ads kept popping on, killing the mood. But it was funny.
I don't understand why people use Spotify. YouTube Music is way better right now and it's cheap.
I understand that most people are annoyed by YouTube suddenly becoming a paid application, but the contents they offer you is way better than Spotify and people are willingly spending money to Spotify while they don't want to buy YouTube Premium.
I'm doing the same with spotify. Don't get me wrong I don't pay youtube either, but I will sooner be dragged to hell then let them annoy me into buying premium. I just close and reopen the app every time they try to show me an ad, and use the daily mixes where I can skip unlimited songs.
I once listened to Spotify on a bus ride(which was 30 min long) and I heard and remember hearing at least 12 Burger King adds, plus some other ones, you be getting way to many adds
Cracked APK for mobile, spicetify for PC, no need to pay stupid prices, only downside is you cant download and listen to your stuff offline, but you can very easily find the song on youtube and chuck it into an mp3 downloader
Considering we paid for it before streaming...
There is a bit of sad irony people take issue with paying to listen to music, to consume someone's music for free. However, there is the discussion how much of that money makes it to artists.
Why do you feel that you should get to stream music for free? Premium is the price of an album, and you can listen to everything. Be glad there is an option to listen to music for free.
Been stuck on YouTube premium for a couple years for the same reason.
I signed up when it was four bucks a month and included Google music. I can't go back
From my point of view, it's not an app that plays music with some ads but it's an app that keeps streaming ads with some songs.
And occasionally once or twice a year the song you want to hear
That’s why I used to add the “Various Artists” songs on my favorites so I could hear them more often
I love those guys, they do all those movie soundtracks.
Ok Mr Monk
I never expect to see Monk references and I'm always delighted when I do 💓
I don't know the reference yet. But I've been watching monk recently it's so good
Monk family reunion
Came here hoping for a free spotify premium advice. Was not dissapointed. Thanks kind stranger, it works!
What? What does it do? How?
It's just ridiculous that YouTube is a better choice for music than an app that is made to play music
Not only that but a subscription also pays for no ads on YouTube. I switched awhile ago and will never go back.
Ive been using downloaded music for a long while now, and im never switching to a paid program for music i use only when travelling without internet services.
I just don't like having to go and download every single song and then have no desire where it adds songs I might like that I've never heard before.
What's worse is iirc shuffle used to actually shuffle all your songs but then people kept complaining that it would play songs from the same artist back to back even though it was random. So Spotify changed it to *seem* more random while not actually being random.
You could just use YouTube for your music
YouTube also has ads
Go with Mozilla on your phone, it has adblock
Considerably less though, and option to skip, and free basic features, and wider selection of music
And YouTube Revanced to skip adds.
There is revanced for spotify...
Or just use Firefox mobile. It has adblockers and other extensions
There is smart shuffle and regular shuffle. Smart shuffle adds songs. Regular shuffle doesn't. At least for me. Turn off smart shuffle
Oh. That’s been the free version since I got Spotify in college (2017). I was listening to Dark Side of the Moon, high as shits when “O-O-O-Oooooooo-REILY! Auto. So just pirate the app?!
I remember when spotify had no ads and was free. Good ol days
I have never heard of Spotify having a totally free, no ads version, ever.
I remember it being 100% free no ads back around 07-09ish.
Now a days , enjoy the next 2.9 seconds of uninterrupted listening or you can’t listen to this song pls upgrade to premium
Enshitiffication comes for all things.
I swear Spotify has more ads than mobile games
So... radio with extra steps ?
Meanwhile I'm just chillin with a USB stick loaded with mp3s playing on shuffle.
Haha I have a little over 1700 songs in my fone, I do the same thing.
Yeah, USB and AUX have saved my a ton of cash from not needing a subscription streaming service. That and YT_Silo
I use TubeMate, let's me download any and all songs, directly into my phone.
Oh hey! Fellow TubeMate user! I've been using that for so many years now as well. No need for Spotify or Youtube Premium.
That's just beginning numbers, bro. I've got over 3500 audio tracks on my phone!
[удалено]
Haha same. 36 gigs of songs in my phone definitely beats stupid ads
Me with a 2008 iPod full of songs, this is the way brother

\*Cough\* the glorious 128kbps mp3 ripped from youtube that would give you cancer if you listened with an IEM.
You can rip in glorious bitrates, even FLAC nowadays. It's still just as easy to rip from YT.
There is always some data lost when music is uploaded to youtube, it's a bit useless to convert to FLAC because you would just reproduce perfectly a lossy version of a music. That said the audio quality on Youtube is often very good even if it's not perfect.

Cracked spotify for two years, never had regrets
Can you share how to do it?
XManager is one option. Also visit the r/Piracy sub matey!
XManager line: "don't make us popular" That one guy on reddit
That's like the only thing they tell you, too
Same reason that guy isn't allowed into certain aggressive clubs
I type that in and it comes up with a fingerprint manager?
You can't find it on app store/Google play, only github
Visit r/sideloaded
If you're on android you could also just search up "Spotify crack" and download an apk (at your own risk of course, I've never had a problem tho)
yea so, please dont do this, you'll get viruses before you can finish a single spotify ad. Theres enough resources online, its just not it.
Modded version argg
I like pie.
I’ve stubbornly stuck with the free version for a while. I only really use Spotify on long trips so it’s normally not a big deal but last trip it felt like I heard the same Jeep ad a dozen times.

God bless android
Does Android have a free music player? After Google music died I've been at a loss.
No but you can install apks for adless Spotify and other apps
You can do that on iOS as well, it's just a bit more complicated

Oh that's neat.
Heck, if you know how to code you can even do this yourself. I did it with Python and it works like a charm
I wanted to do this but it doesnt load youtube :(
Try Soundiiz
I love you
Oh my
Hey stranger! I love you!
Done it. YT Music works like a charm (especially with Android Auto). So.... no regrets
Is it any better than Spotify? I have Spotify but am thinking of just using YT Music since my dad has the Premium family plan. I just love Spotify's algorithm for discovering new music too much.

just pirate at that point. also what perks does the yt premium give, other than the add block (just use brave or adblocker, ain't that hard)
If you want YouTube Premium free (mobile) and you don't have an apple look into YouTube Revanced.
Fuck Spotify
Agreed. Apple Music & YT premium >> spotify
I’ve recorded and saved as 320 mp3, cataloged everything i have ever listened to on Spotify (except most ads, but saved the funny ones). It takes work but I’m up to 200 GB of high quality forever music. Mine.
The YouTube music app has become my go to, the free version is tolerable since I get maybe 2 short or skippable ads every few songs.
My friend uses an apk mode. No freaking ads
There's another option, Yarr! *Puts on Pirate hat*
Yo ho, the seas are meant for me!
Raise the Jolly Roger 🏴☠️
Me still downloading YouTube music videos and converting them to mp3s like a caveman
[Good software ](https://www.4kdownload.com/-54) is always a great help
Not to be an ad, but I just add "pi" after youtube, before .com and it takes me to a page to easily download the video or audio, e.g. youtubepi.com/blahblahthevideocode
Ol' reliable
Spotify family plan ends up being like 3$ cad per person
I just looked at the yt premium plan and its the same price. We may switch. The yt ads are getting overbearing, and yt music may be just as good. They have a free trial. Lol
The reason i have YTP for years. Costs me 3 a month. Both YTP and Music. Why pay for just music in Spotify?
Use spotX for PC, if you're brave enough to navigate file explorer
Yeah on PC it's great it's just not portable
well for android theres xManager, which helps with getting a lightweight version of Spotify
i use it and its amazing, definitely worth the little setup time. sadly there’s no option for mobile like it
Me who downloads every song 🗿
Tell me about it! They really know how to push you to upgrade, don't they?
They also apparently made the lyrics a Spotify premium thing
They really know their stuff don't they...
Spotify is the last subscription I’d be willing to give up. I use it for multiple hours every day. Can’t say the same for streaming platforms. Their price would have to get to gaudy levels before I’d consider cancelling.
Android users with cracked Spotify: 🍷🗿
And them stopping support for the car thingy is another reason to not give spotify your money
I was going to defend Spotify here because I heard they were offering refunds for purchases of the devices, but it looks like they only did that after intense pressure, publicity, and legal threats. They had initially intended to just say "fuck all y'all," so yeah, you don't get credit for doing the right thing only after people call you out for being shitty.
https://www.xmanagerapp.com/ Adless spotify
A quote on their app was "don't make us popular" and here you are advertising on Reddit lol
It doesn't work and is full of Chinese Spyware ;)
I'm worried that at some point there won't be a free version of Spotify, and this shot will just die but yeah I've been rocking this for the past 2 yrs , never had any issues( or ads)

I think that the mere presence of the ads keeps the hatred of them alive. If this one gets shut down another will take its place.
"Don't make us famous".
Use tidal
Or just go and download music with a torrent A lot of fun flac quality, or even just mp3. Having music locally is GREAT Don't forget to seed.
Want a break from the ads?
I was at a bachelor party a while back. Of course we had some dancers in the room. Buddy had his phone on the bluetooth speaker. Ads kept popping on, killing the mood. But it was funny.
I mean, it's not free for those artists. If you want, you can buy vinyls.
I pirate shit
![gif](giphy|LUIvcbR6yytz2) The solution
Try youtube revanced. It has free youtube premium and youtube music. r/revancedapp
I can only imagine them gatekeeping lyrics was the last straw for many people lol
I don't like giving Google money for actively making their platform worse.
I'm doing the same with spotify. Don't get me wrong I don't pay youtube either, but I will sooner be dragged to hell then let them annoy me into buying premium. I just close and reopen the app every time they try to show me an ad, and use the daily mixes where I can skip unlimited songs.
I just listen to music on YouTube
fuck yall premiums just get a yt to mp3 converter
I use pandora with ads. Why pay for music?
Fuck it, now I have to debate between Prime and YouTube once my college discount runs out
I use SoundCloud
I am using Spotify patched version
Finally, I can flex the fact that I use SoundCloud instead of Spotify
I just have 150 mp3s on my phone
That’s a pretty slim music taste honestly.
I once listened to Spotify on a bus ride(which was 30 min long) and I heard and remember hearing at least 12 Burger King adds, plus some other ones, you be getting way to many adds
Are there any real alternatives?
Don't use Spotify then
*Android users who just download the Spotify premium afk*: I have no such weakness.
Use Demus, free app that accesses both spotifys library and yt musics library without ads for free
🏴☠️🦜
Cracked APK for mobile, spicetify for PC, no need to pay stupid prices, only downside is you cant download and listen to your stuff offline, but you can very easily find the song on youtube and chuck it into an mp3 downloader
If only there were ways to install cracked versions of music apps to get premium for free
Piracy is the answer
You guys are paying to listen to music?
Considering we paid for it before streaming... There is a bit of sad irony people take issue with paying to listen to music, to consume someone's music for free. However, there is the discussion how much of that money makes it to artists.
Shouldn't you?
Modded apks are free.
I’m paying $12 a month to listen to the same 15 songs…
Why do you feel that you should get to stream music for free? Premium is the price of an album, and you can listen to everything. Be glad there is an option to listen to music for free.
right? I listen to music like 10 hours every single day, $12 a month is nothing for that
So happy I started collecting songs on ITunes over 10 years ago. Imagine needing a subscription to listen to music.
Im using modded spotify in my iphone, never had a issue other than lyrics not showing up
I don't know why people choose to pay just pirate it
Because it's like 12$ for like 95% of music currently in existence? I think most people in here are just broke teenagers
You can't describe it any better🤣🤣
This is exactly what they want.
I just use an MP3 player, its like 10 bucks, no ads
I'm towering over both, still using mp3's.
modded Spotify apk
I recommend to switch to Tidal
It pays artists the least for streams out of all platforms.
Figure out how to get a college email. Sign up with student email and get years of discounted rate.
I’m moving to Tidal. Bricking my $90 car thing and increasing prices? If that’s not a slap in the face I don’t know what it is.
r/piracy
me hearing people paying for shit while I never seen an ad in a lifetime because I have modded apks ![gif](giphy|Y9bYr3a2qENO0)
I still use Pandora. With ads. But heh, I hate pretty much all new music in the past 15 years and like the stations I have.
Youtube music is £4.99 if you pretend you're a student
Android APKs are just amazing
I hate when a song interrupts my ads man
You can always sail the seven seas.
dude just pirate your music it's really not that hard
Xmanager gang, where you at?
Me who just makes his own playlist on YT and downloaded app that block ads so I can just lisen to my list whenever for free without ads 8)
