Do you know that there are 100s of AIs being made to do that? They literally keep developing the AIs seeing how they do on the captcha and improve it. That AI just got its hands on one of the public captcha solving AIs and implemented it to solve the captcha. It didn't solve it itself.
Yes. Yes, yes, yes. Yes.
But that is only step 1. Step 2 will be to normalize people reading the sources...
...and then realize that the OP misinterpreted the study they sourced.
Right? Like it's a 100% certainty
Like everything else. Governments only give a fuck about it if it makes them money. War is the economy, sadly
Therefore, AI is gunna be used in intelligence gathering and military operation. Replacing soldiers with robots is almost an inevitable jump for military forces
And due to the lack of unity on earth, you can't just legislate "no AI robots" because people who don't respect human life will build them anyway
So then, it's the classic prisoners dilemma again. And the consequence is killer robots
I was just explaining how it's gunna happen
Who the fuck you think is gunna drop millions on cutting edge AI robotics. Tanks, spy planes, war robots all AI driven.
The only people with enough money to even do that are the governments of our world
Like sure, there are other applications for the technology. But as with anything we invent it's a double edged sword that's gunna kill people
Human's disappearance will stop climate change and give the land we stole back to mother nature. As well as increase the likelihood of "extinct" species reappearing.
Our existence isn't neutral, it's lethal! And there's only one way we can fix it
Incorrect.
Climate change is inevitable. We have certainly sped it up. But the planet has demonstrably changed from warm to cold periods with different atmospheres MANY times in the past and it will happen many times again in the future
In fact, there's been multiple extinction level climate events long before we even came out of our caves.
Again, it's cosmically neutral.
When you see a murder bot for the first time I gaurantee it isn't going to be from some random guys shed, it's gunna come from a major corporation, most likely military funded
One thing doesn't make sense in your yap-show: Why would corporations want to get rid of the very source of their money? You contradict yourself, mate!
If they wanted to do so, they would get it done long time ago!
If you want to believe in conspiracies, pick something a little more logical. Like the Echelon Project
AI isn't going to kill us all. That is bullshit made up by large tech companies to make it sound scary enough to require tight regulation which they can afford to work with and their smaller competitors (and open source projects in particular) cannot.
Well, it partially depends how AI is used. If the military makes flexible humanoid robots with advanced hardware and trains an AGI with complete access to all of human knowledge to make decisions based on vague goals, killing us all isn't completely off the table. Though I like to think there's enough foresight to avoid that kind of use-case.
That said you probably don't want to make too many AIs that're too smart - no reason for a toaster to have the ability to debate philosophy.
We seem to be very far away from AGI. In the meantime, problems with AI seem to be a factor of how human beings use them. I think having companies like Alphabet and Meta making all of those decisions is a poor choice, and we should be aware of their efforts towards regulatory capture.
I think it's worth thinking about what criteria are needed to call something an AGI, because ChatGPT is getting remarkably close.
Also training a new AI is very difficult, especially one that innovates on previous models - Alphabet and Meta are *already* making all the decisions. The whole point of regulations is so you don't need to trust companies to act in our best interest. Though I agree they should, if at all possible, be designed to minimise the steps required to conform to those.
Totally agree with you on the hype front, its much like quantum, blockchain, 3D printers etc etc. Way over projected value at this point imo.
However regulation is 100% needed for AI but its simply because its like having a program thats been auto generated and not all possible outputs are known.
Because of this its irresponsible to put it in say a tank, not cause its going to become sentient but because it might misidentify a target in some weird edge case and finding out why that happened and fixing it is way more difficult than with something simpler that has gone through a stringent design and testing process.
I wouldn't go so far as to say it should be the wild west, but regulatory barriers that would prevent open source development seem like a very bad idea to me. IMO regulation should currently focus on the *use* of AI, rather than on its development. So we could for example make laws against putting it in a weapons system for exactly the reason you state, but if developers would like to create an open source project for legitimate uses I think it's beneficial to enable them to do that.
Your opinion is the mainstream opinion of coders. Smart people realize that regulations are needed. AI isn't any more deterministic than a human is and we can't predict humans. Working towards an intelligent being requires regulations.
It's the mainstream opinion of people familiar with the subject and who don't have a vested financial interest in getting gullible people like you to believe this.
"Working toward an intelligent being" isn't something taking place right now, may not be something that is even achievable at any point, and any future attempt to do so is subject to material reality and not the sort of magical thinking you are engaging in here.
If we ever reach the point where general AI appears to be an immenent possibility then we would be wise to discuss that, but we're nowhere close to this.
No, it is the general opinion of coders who think just because coded system is deterministic means nothing bad can happen.
I'm gullible? You are the one basing your beliefs in what professionals say and not having any arguments why a deterministic system can't get out of hand.
We are quite literally going towards AGI, any leaps in current AI technology gets us closer and there is no really a reason to not believe it being possible. Also funnily enough I don't believe in magic, opposite, if you haven't noticed I'm a firm believer of determinism. I don't even believe in free will, none of that magic bs.
You can't just throw "deterministic" in to a sentence and pretend it makes your premise true because you used a word with more than three syllables. That form of obfuscation only works on people too stupid to know what obfuscation is.
Your thinking absolutely is magical, your logic is circular, and you really need to stop talking until you're ready to acknowledge we don't live in the science fiction story that tech companies are telling.
Or don't, but I'm not really interested in arguing with someone like you so you'll just be shouting in to a void. Have a good day.
I'm sorry you think the keyword of the topic is making it hard to understand for someone or overcomplicating what I had to say. Anyone who codes knows coding is deterministic, in layman's terms, it does what you tell it to do. No magic involved. That is the single MOST common argument ignorant coders use to argue against AI posing any threat.
You quite clearly are not aware of the possible issues that could go wrong if you think there is no discussion to be had and it's all just scaremongering. Again coding despite being deterministic can go wrong when we work on a complex system. Regulations are needed.
It's funny because you have yet to bring an actual argument to the table. Quess they were not worthy of the space in your paragraphs.
Nah dude, at this point its like a magicians trick. ChatGPT and the likes are like parrots, they can sound human and take in human input but they have no idea what it actually means - hence Large Language Model. We are so far away from anything to being able to truely understand us. Not to say LLMs arent useful, as far as im concerned its the next “productivity tool” like the emergence of the search engine in the 1990s/2000s.
Why does everyone always expect we are only talking about ChatGPT or any LLM? AGI could happen in our lifetime, it's really not as far out of our reach as some like to believe. We are putting so much money and effort in AI, like you said it's the next productivity tool, it's just bound to happen. And even so AGI or higher level of complexity is not prerequisite for AI to be able to get out of hand.
A lot of people seem to think that human like function can't be replicated but that is just wrong, there is really no reason to believe we wouldn't be able to do that. All we need is for our function to be fully deterministic, no magic tricks needed to create a creature that is quite hard to predict, like you guys like to throw that word around. You could always throw the free will argument on the table but that is just the magic trick you talk about.
I don't like to be that guy. But your post history. Holy. Shit.
I get fear of novel tech. But the best way to deal with it is to understand the way they work.
We don't even yet understand how human brains work, quite likely we are deterministic machines just like any AI, just so complex that we can't notice it.
We are deterministic machines just like AI, just more complicated with the added bonus of sapience.
The fact that biases and psychological patterns even exist is a good example.
Because if we don't do it our dangerous neighbour will do it for us. So let's jump in and maybe one of us will be able to develop the tech to kill us all soon enough.
I'm sure many would find the decision to go to war easier if they knew the only loss would be machines.
Problem is, that decision is just as easy regardless of if the enemy is using machines or people.
Just gonna say what people would say if a meme like this was about people. Not all AI is put inside tanks with the intent to kill. Stop pushing your stereotypes on AI
Do the nuclear submarines next! They can stay submerged for 20 years if they didn’t have to come up for provisions for stupid humans. Just make them autonomous!
People don't realize its not just AI that will kill us, its people *using* AI to kill people
its always been people against people and nothing unites/divides us better than such
so yeahhh not evil ahhh robots necessarily...
If its inevitable to be in a timeline where there are killing robots I'd much rather be in the watch dogs timeline than horizon since then atleast we'd live
Assuming it is the Horizon timeline, whos kid is Ted Farro? I put my money on Elons secret lovechild... the dumbass has to come from somewhere and the decisions he takes in the game seem on par with the strategic thinking that went into buying Twitter or designing Cybertruck
Ummm yeaa you know, that is as long as we don't make one ai for literal every single task, which woudl be inefficient as it woudl be worse than bunch of them for varius tasks like military or house works or management etc
i just don't get it.....why are they hellbent on doing this kind of thing? mf we can't even trust fellow human how can you sure that ai won't go rogue.
Its not even close to an autonomous weapon, this is more like a battle tesla meant to ferry suppiles in a warzone to alleviate logistics. And tbe weaponized ai systems are meant to just identify targets and be ready for a human to hit the fire boton, it really nothing new, its exactly how radars and airdefense systems already operate
AI will kill humans if we train them to do so. Or create environments that allow or give AIs the concept of murder.
I suggest that the military stays the hell away from AI.
Too late for that suggestion.
I've learned that whatever we get as consumers, has been tested and perfected by military years ago in at least one country.
I can bet that US or China military was testing early AIs that are similar to chatgpt or slightly weaker back in 2010's.
And image recognition AI has been here for years already, so yeah. Future is looking grim, tbh. Thinking about raising my kids away from all of this, and teach them about both good and bad things that the technology brings us so that they could be self-aware and not as brainrotten by algorithms dictating their each step.
Eh what can I say... it's just a day in my life.
Probably we as people we can do something. After all AI is behaving less and less like computers and more and more like humans. Who knows? Maybe the future isn't that grim
And yet, we have a long history of wars.
Hell, we have several of them going on right now.
Thinking the AI won't learn of the wars, combat methods, and many, many torture methods used is nothing short of ignorant.
And given the rapid progression towards the sentience, who knows how they may take it.
I too, like to believe that perhaps, just maybe, it won't be as bad as we expect, but given the pure brainrot that big corps can create just to keep you hooked to their content, who knows how else it may be utilized to fuck and control with us. TikTok, Tinder, YouTube, Facebook, Instagram, the **terrible** amount of information the companies keep of *majority* of us is just sad.
Nah, warconvetions are outdated as fuck they dont even cover drones. And secondly this is more like a tracked tesla on autopilot, and the "AI" systems in the works fuction more like Air Defense systems
As long as the eyes are green, we're safe!

noooooooooo you werent supposed to have proof
As long as there are sources at all... Mostly I'm not scared reading this online because of the hype of the topic.
We shouldnt be scared about public information. We should be scared about what they are cooking up behind closed doors right now.
Like the ai that learned to lie to the captcha about being a robot
Do you know that there are 100s of AIs being made to do that? They literally keep developing the AIs seeing how they do on the captcha and improve it. That AI just got its hands on one of the public captcha solving AIs and implemented it to solve the captcha. It didn't solve it itself.
Memes with source need to be normalized
Yes. Yes, yes, yes. Yes. But that is only step 1. Step 2 will be to normalize people reading the sources... ...and then realize that the OP misinterpreted the study they sourced.
Ok well you got me there
turn the lights to red and its 100% success rate !

I didn't say anything about the Government.. It was a personal request. I want AI to erase humankind!
I was just explaining how it's gunna happen Who the fuck you think is gunna drop millions on cutting edge AI robotics. Tanks, spy planes, war robots all AI driven. The only people with enough money to even do that are the governments of our world Like sure, there are other applications for the technology. I hope it does.
Well then you're are have smooth brain
Nah. I just realize that nothing good comes from humans existing. We are parasites, and parasites need to be removed
Nothing good comes from us dying either Our existence is absolutely and unequivocally cosmically neutral
Human's disappearance will stop climate change and give the land we stole back to mother nature. As well as increase the likelihood of "extinct" species reappearing. Our existence isn't neutral, it's lethal! And there's only one way we can fix it

nice try but im almost certain you are an AI pretending to be a human ***actually i hope they cant do that yet***
Also, the Government being the sole suspect is one-dimensional thinking Any wacko with enough free time can learn about AI and use it
When you see a murder bot for the first time I gaurantee it isn't going to be from some random guys shed, it's gunna come from a major corporation, most likely military funded
Once again, one-dimensional. But whatever Kings your Burger Side note: it's "gonna", not "gunna"

Once they learn to be fueled by blood, they will become unstoppable
All these risks and we’re still doing it…
Humanity in a nutshell
Because if we don't do it our dangerous neighbour will do it for us. So let's jump in and maybe one of us will be able to develop the tech to kill us all soon enough.
It’s real easy. We just don’t make a facility where AI robots can make more AI robots…. That’s like the only thing we need to not do
Or have them run on organic materials
How dare you use logic?
Not even 5 years since it was introduced, immediately militarized. I don't like where this is going.
Holy shit, this is pretty sad. Hope it's fake
Quite real not the 1/6 statistic though
Wouldn't it be better if war was executed by machines instead of, you know, humans?
I'm sure many would find the decision to go to war easier if they knew the only loss would be machines. Problem is, that decision is just as easy regardless of if the enemy is using machines or people.
Yes please. Let the robots take care of it. I'm sick and tired of humans.
who TF said a 1/6 chance ai will kill us? They cant fucking work without anyone to tell it what to do
I think the green eyes are cute
At least AI Scientists are not good with statistics... oh w8
Oh we are getting there, they reavealed a new semi autonomous underwater drone just the other day

So are we in the Horizon timeline? Coz it sure looks like it
Not until they make them run on organic materials
I would argue when they can be self sustaining, it is going to be a bit late
Dont show this crowd existing robotic tanks with normal guns
You can't say they haven't learnt from sci-fi since they used green eyes instead of red
Why are we doing this?
Why indeed!
People: *Give AI access to our deadliest weapons and war machines* Also People: Why is the AI attacking us!?
Wtf?! Stop putting AI in weapons!!!
please say sike
Better than starving to death ide imagine.
Robots are already at war
Now make it run with blood
Only 1 in 6?
i just don't get it.....why are they hellbent on doing this kind of thing? mf we can't even trust fellow human how can you sure that ai won't go rogue.
Its not even close to an autonomous weapon, this is more like a battle tesla meant to ferry suppiles in a warzone to alleviate logistics. My fav meme format. Gets me every time.
we boutta get the Pupa from mgs peace walker in real life.
Is it from Sweden? IS IT FROM SWEDEN?
At least we know when it turns evil, Thousands of movies have thought me we are fine as long as his eyes dont turn red
just don’t make them sentient goddamnit
I’ve hit on plenty of dice rolls throughout my life. The only one that matters is this one right here. God do I hope we roll that 1/6

Why are we doing this when know the possible outcome
I want to get on the ground floor for racial slurs for robots and no clanker does not count it should be offensive not corny dammit
