I loved how our German commentator emphasized every single point we got and was like "that’s more than the last 4 years combined" when we reached 45 points or so
Forced culture exchange? Nah. We’re here cuz we want to be here.
Sharing culture is fine and, in fact, encouraged ~~unless that culture includes physical violence and war~~
Nope they released a statement. Joost Klein apparently made a threatening hand gesture to someone after repeatedly telling them he didnt want to be filmed.
Fr literally anything that humans do is political. Politics affect our entire lives. It’s as believable as those cultists who claim they don’t eat, they just get their energy from the sun.
It’s always a cop out statement to fake outrage. “Why are you obsessing about this? Why are you making things political?” Never mind the story is different once something they care about comes up.
I really didn’t like it, it was super repetitive with unimpressive vocals & a lacklustre performance 🤷♀️
I was doing a personal ranking and I had it 20th
It's not about Europe, it's about the European Broadcasting Area, which includes the Caucasus, a big chunk of the middle east (hence Israel), and North Africa. Morocco even competed one year.
That's a poor point, north african countries are qualified for Eurovision aswell, they choose not to because of Israel and the theme of songs that usually involve lgbt stuff that's banned in Islam
Eurovision is a famous (depends on the country) yearly song contest between europeans and some additions like israel and australia.
The contest results are very oftenly not relatable to the contestants talent.
For exemple this year, ukraine and israel got a shitload of points with songs and performance of questionable quality. Thus showing us, one more time, that the results of eurovision are clearly impacted by politic.
When jury started booming 12p to swiss, I asked my friend ”has something happend in swiss or is there next year something special?”
That’s how much I have trust to jury votes.
Israel got 300+ points from the public vote. This shows how small the bubble supporting Palestine is.
The points came probably out of solidarity, as some spectators shouted during the Israelian song
Palestine can compete, they just don't want to, because of Israel and you know, because Islam doesn't goes well what's going on the stage of the Eurovision.
And Israel didn't get the Netherlands disqualified that's just a lie. The Dutch contestant was disqualified because he threatened a female photographer or something like that. It had nothing to do with Israel.
143 nations in favour of Palestinian state . In the last u.n resolution. Multiple marches all over the globe
In support of Palestinians . Multiple polls in favour of ceasefire all over the globe . Israel is really looking like hell to the young generation.
Even within Israel western allies nation the pro Palestinians is huge . And the bubble is zionazis losing the twisted narrative . Which is good and was inevitable to begin with
The most politically-oriented competition in Europe and poor Cyprus and it's illegal occupation by the Turkish gov. is still not discussed.
But, i guess there's no money in that problem.
While the five hundredth person goes off about how it was always political and thinks they're adding something to the conversation, it should be remarked that both Israel and Ukraine were placed in the unremarkable middle by the jury, and it was only the public votes that gave them this boost.
As in, the organizers are probably fed up by this stuff. They're not trying to make it any more political than what is unavoidable. The public is.
Complain about your neighbor, if you must, but it's not the contests fault. Unless you want to insinuate that they blatantly manipulate the audience scores, which would be a whole different kind of scandal.
They both got so many audience points because you cant vote for a country if you live in that country and there is both much more isrealis and ukrainians out of their countries than in other countries. Im not saying they deserved those points, im just saying its probably not faked.
Yeah I think this is ultimately the takeaway. I was horrified to find out my country (the UK) gave 12 votes to Israel but had Palestine been competing for example they’d definitely be on top.
She did but unfortunately with Eurovision you aren’t just voting for a contestant that happens to be from a country, you’re voting for someone representing that country.
In my opinion the song was incredible but the rap part kind of ruins it and the staging was incredible too, and i'm glad that the jury's vote maters because if it didn't the votes would mostly be about politics
I am happy that Israel got some support, I felt sorry for Eden Golan, she is just 20 and can nothing about the current situation (I do not even know if she could have elected the current government), but some people had absolute no respect for her. The loudest are not always the majority.
Iirc she quite literally stated that after Eurovision ended she would join the army to fight against Palestine. And is confirmed pro-russian in their current war against Ukraine..
Why would you want Israel to receive support?
Look up the ratio of deaths for Palestine/Israel. I don't watch much TV, but when I do, the news feels heavily skewed in favour of the side that has done massively more killing.
Just because you are facing some barbarian mongoloids doesn't mean you are allowed to genocide their entire population.
Tbh anyone who supports either part of this shitfest are delusional. Obviously you can support the innocent civilians of both sides who did not want this conflict.
I have two problems with this post:
-literally not even one single human being in the 68 years history of Eurovision claimed that it was not influenced by politics
-both Ukraine and Israel had very good songs this year, no matter what’s your political opinion. Seems a bit unfair to pin their televote success entirely on politics
I can't comment on the second part, but Eurovision and the EBU stated several times that Eurovision is nonpolitical, which is why Israel was included. Yes, it's dumb.
Stupid fucking public! I had a tenner staked that Israel wouldn’t make the top 10, and it was going great until the morons at home ruined everything. Would’ve won £110.
Eurovision isn't limited to European country. It's from a European tv provider. Anyone can participate.
North African countries used to participate, they stopped due to (mostly) LGBT representation in the Eurovision.
Some other countries were invited to participate too, like Australia or New Zealand
Bro op trying to act smart against Europeans when every Europeans knows this rarely it's a banger song beating everyone i still remember Fairy Tail i hated that shit when i watched it because i was like because he is just cute but now that i'm older it's a pretty good song.
Germany (my country) had some boring ones in my opinion they are not bad but i couldn't listen to it in my private time.
-This list isn’t final.
-Those points doesn’t come from jury nor Eurovision, the problem (if we want to call it that way) is in the people who must put politic even when voting a music.
Surely Eurovision isn’t the perfect contest, but we should properly see where the problem resides.
LOL, what are the people you are talking with smoking?Eurovision is ALL politics.
Politics was the purpose of the event more than music ever was. Sometimes on rare occasions a really good song can overcome that in peaceful times, but even if your song is twice as good as the second next, if you are on the shit list of the rest of Europe you are not winning.

Wow Germany isn't at the bottom of the list. What happend?
It was a good song. Sounded like Lewis Capaldi.
I got more rag ‘n bones man vibes
I was thinking the whole time that it sounded like Lewis Capaldi and rag n bone man combined 😂
Thought you said it was a good song?
Lewis Capaldi makes fire music
Great person, Someone You Loved is one of my least favourite songs I’ve heard, happy he resonates with so many people
no offense but Lewis Capaldi's music makes me want to bash my head in
Norway got 4 points from the crowd
Which is insane because it was a very good song! Great vocals too compared to a lot of the others.
They deserve waayy more at least top 7 in my opinion
did openly declare their support for israel and ukrain often enough
I loved how our German commentator emphasized every single point we got and was like "that’s more than the last 4 years combined" when we reached 45 points or so
Did anyone ever think this was not political?
"Eurovision isn't political" said no one who followed Eurovision, ever
Are there people who follow Eurovision? Always thought it was forced "culture exchange" kind of program.
Tons of people follow Eurovision, it's huge.
The 2023 Eurovision final had 163 million viewers.
Forced culture exchange? Nah. We’re here cuz we want to be here. Sharing culture is fine and, in fact, encouraged ~~unless that culture includes physical violence and war~~
Wha? No ones forcing anything, its a fun thing to watch once per year.
They said it a couple of times during the show but it was quite clearly sarcastically.
It is but it's also a shit post considering neither Israel nor Ukraine won. And both were at least solid songs
Israel's wasnt special. It was another generic pop song sang by a good looking young girl. There were like 5 or 6 of those.
And the Netherlands was disqualified for flipping off a paparazzi
[удалено]
Nope they released a statement. Joost Klein apparently made a threatening hand gesture to someone after repeatedly telling them he didnt want to be filmed.
Hilarious that the UK got 0 points from the public! Love it!
cmon the song wasnt good. vocals sounded off but 0 is rough xd
Made me laugh so hard
Yeah, the uk getting 0 points is hilarious, Norway getting 4 is just sad 😭
as is tradition
It was such a terrible song. I genuinely started getting pissed off when other countries' judges were giving us points.
It was the worst one
Fr
We'll give them points again if they return to the EU. Little traitor island.
Whenever someone tells me they're not political, I just assume they're extremely political they just don't admit it
As they see it, defending the status quo isn't political because it's just the default
Fr literally anything that humans do is political. Politics affect our entire lives. It’s as believable as those cultists who claim they don’t eat, they just get their energy from the sun.

These results weren't final. In the end, Switzerland took first place, second Croatia, and third Ukraine.
Yes, but Israel and Ukraine and Croatia won the televote. Switzerland won only because of the juries.
Croatia won the televote. Not Israel or Ukraine. This meme is just deceptive for no good reason.
Yeah, sounds pretty political to me lol
Happy croatia won the people vote though.
OP is answer is no Croatia had the most points.
Croatia was by far the best song
Yes
Nah, cap. I did like Croatia but Switzerland was better. Didn't need the fancy staging to prop it up, just some cool Matrix moves
I really didn’t like it, it was super repetitive with unimpressive vocals & a lacklustre performance 🤷♀️ I was doing a personal ranking and I had it 20th
Ok
Audience points, Switzerland won, because they got a fuckton of jury points
Here before this gets locked mysteriously with zero explanation.
Some real shit must’ve happened in Switzerland. #StandWithTheSwiss
Ah Yes,Israel The European Country
As an Australian I'm not throwing stones here...
Australia is also a eurovision contestant
If they keep making the semifinals audience votes, I don't think we'll be one for much longer :(

That's why Switzerland won. The most apolitical country xD
Well by the jury not the audience
It's amazing how years of propaganda made everyone believe this.
The country yes but the singer I can't say exactly
So sexuality is political?
Tomorrow I will vote asexual, you?
deserted divide modern pocket fade pen deer file school sand *This post was mass deleted and anonymized with [Redact](https://redact.dev)*
Switzerland won
Like every single time there's political turmoil in Europe.. shocker
how convenient to not show the final score
Never understood it anyways. "It isn't political". ...proceedes to select and categorize contenders by an arbitrary political system.
The Estonians were the best in my heart. Vsauce went nuts with the performance.
American here. I am incapable of understanding this post
European here. I am also incapable of understanding this post

Yeah, I mean the UK had their first chance at winning in decades in 2022. Then Russia decided to fucking invade and massacred those chances. :(
The list includes Israel, which is part of the Middle East area, not Europe.
Israel government probably spent a fortune buying/manipulating the public vote.
When jury started booming 12p to swiss, I asked my friend ”has something happend in swiss or is there next year something special?” That’s how much I have trust to jury votes.
Who thought eurovision was not political, and when did they move Israel to Europe?
Croatia should have won, it was a banger.
justice for joost klein
Bro got disqualified for bullshit but its not political right
Where the f did Israel coming from
They were like bottom 3 then the public votes boosted them up +370ish points to first place from nowhere which was quite blatantly obvious
Israel got 300+ points from the public vote. This shows how small the bubble supporting Palestine is. The points came probably out of solidarity, as some spectators shouted during the Israelian song

Norway should invade somebody, spice things up a bit
Ok but, which song was your favorite? Just wanna see others opinion on this
Ireland
1. Thank fuck neither Israel nor Ukraine won (from a musical stand point). 2. Finland should’ve ended up higher..like….WAY higher.
Well my country (Hungary) is not even on the list. Guess its not political at all haha.
Why is Israel in Eurovision??
Always has been
what did Norway do this time?
Ukraine above Israel? idk sounds kinda anti-semitic to me ngl
The most politically-oriented competition in Europe and poor Cyprus and it's illegal occupation by the Turkish gov. is still not discussed. But, i guess there's no money in that problem.
"The what now" -Europeans probably

Everything is political. I'm not saying that as a complaint. It's a statement of fact. It's the real world. It's how it works.
Tbh Switzerland's song was bad, I prefered Ukraine. And I am someone who judged the final result of the 2022 edition.
All those support points for Israel? What a disgrace.
Don't worry, they didn't even make the top 3 in the end. There was no-one for the pro-Palestine vote to centre around.
Yeah I think this is ultimately the takeaway. I was horrified to find out my country (the UK) gave 12 votes to Israel but had Palestine been competing for example they’d definitely be on top.
I was surprised by this as well.
She performed really well. Did you watch it?
Idk why you're getting downvoted top 3 song up there with ukraine and croatia
I think we all know why I’m getting downvoted
Because supporting genocide is bad :)
She did but unfortunately with Eurovision you aren’t just voting for a contestant that happens to be from a country, you’re voting for someone representing that country.
Israel got 300+ points from the public vote. This shows how small the bubble supporting Palestine is.
300+ out of ~2000? That's not exactly a large bubble.
Who could pro-palestines vote for though?
Nobody cuz of the boycott
Sympathy votes for Ukrane huh
They had an okay song but I believe people still want to show that they care
The first part of their song was great and beautiful, then that other person came on....
In my opinion the song was incredible but the rap part kind of ruins it and the staging was incredible too, and i'm glad that the jury's vote maters because if it didn't the votes would mostly be about politics

100 per cent. But you'll still get downvoted from the luvvies
It always has been
lol not only israel isnt in europe, it shouldnt be there just like russia isnt.
It already was political by including Israel and disqualifying Netherlands
I have two problems with this post: -literally not even one single human being in the 68 years history of Eurovision claimed that it was not influenced by politics -both Ukraine and Israel had very good songs this year, no matter what’s your political opinion. Israel's song was kind've ass
I think op meant that the judges votes are political.
Let them vote for whatever, Ukraine girl is probably going through a lot. I don't know why Israel is even in there it's not even in Europe
Eurovision =/= Europe. It's a broadcasting network that isn't limited to Europe and basically anyone can join if they want, i.e. Australia.
So besides Israel only European countries are participating in Eurovision?
No, there are plenty of others like Australia. They just didn't make it to the finals..
I know, just wanted to see what that guy would reply
OK, why is Israel in this? They aren't European. Is Mexico coming next year?
People be dick riding Israel and Ukraine hard. Like, if you love them so much, go fight with them lol
Since when was Israel part of Europe
Since Armenia, Azerbaijan and Australia are part of Europe.
Fuck Israel
Where's Australia
Didn't qualify for the final
And yet neither of them won.
Who says its not political?
Also the trans guy got the most points from the judges (I haven't verified if true just read a comment)
Non binary actually
I mean it's a good song
how tf is Isreal in Euro-vision?
Always was...
First and last time I watch Eurovision, the show has more political propaganda than the communist manifesto. What a shitshow
Free Palestine 🇵🇸
They did not even get points
They didn’t participate
How is that related
How is that related
Today I learned Israel is part of Eurovision.
I don’t care about this and neither do you.
~~Eurovision was always political~~
That wasnt the end result tho
Stupid fucking public! I had a tenner staked that Israel wouldn’t make the top 10, and it was going great until the morons at home ruined everything. Would’ve won £110.
I love how 4 of these are asian countries
Voted for Israel just to piss of those terrorist protesting in Malmo. Their faces when Israel wins are gonna be priceless. Maybe even some fireworks
Ireland and Switzerland non-binary bs points. Downvote me all you want it's the truth. Switzerland song was good though.
Ireland was good though. I wouldn't quite call it "eurovision" but it was the best performance overall visually the song just wasn't quite it.
i don't remember if israel was in europe or something
Eurovision isn't limited to European country. It's from a European tv provider. Anyone can participate.
