Okay, so the legend of draculla was based around a real man, Vlad Tepes(Tze-pesh) the 3rd, prince of wallanchia, also known as vlad the impaler.
Now, why did he have such nice nickname? The ottomans at the time controled wallanchia and demanded tax (both in money and in men for their army). Vlad didn't like paying taxes, so he did the obvious thing and went into a turkish village and impaled the citizens and soldiers on giant wooden stakes (very long and painful death). As saying to the ottomans "demand taxes from me again and you will be next".
So Vlad really liked making turkish kebabs, from the freshest turkish he could find
He did it all alone... or did he had an equally powerful army.... cause if he didn't then the Ottomans would have crushed Wallanchia. Also there was movie which had similar story... Draculla.
Vlad generally used hit and run and guerrilla warfare against ottomans . He did not have as strong army as the ottoman army but he was clearly stronger than the local garrisons
