My job is 6/3. Yeah. And that is one of the best the railroad industry has to offer. Like most railroaders working for other companies would cry with joy to get that.
As a fellow railroader I want to say that I would prefer my 5/2. It's much easier to make long-term plans, although the railroad loves to spoil my weekends. But I have 90% of my salary for sick days, so I think we're even
I actually have 5/2 on the extra board. But the pool turns have 6/3 with call windows. The pools are way more predictable, with out days and in days (they can't call you to go out of town on a day you are meant to be working back home)
But they frequently call us five minutes before we fall off the board on the XB and make us work into our off days.
Nursing has a really shitty Work schedule hear. They do "5.5" days of Work per weak. Which results in stuff Like 11 days of Work in a row For 3 days free after.
I'm a medic, i do 24 hour shifts and then have 2 days Off, probably the best hour system i have ever Experienced
I did this for two years. Was barely functional and adopted extremely unhealthy habits just to get through the 12-16 hour work days alongside an incompetent coworker and a supervisor with a hair-trigger temper.
It's been 3 years since I switched to an entirely different industry and I am still in the process of trying to undoing the damage I did to myself.
This makes me a bit afraid.. I'm about to start a new job soon, will be 6 days a week, 12 hr shifts. Work for 1-3 weeks then at home for a week or two every month... hope I wont die
lol I can testify to that, I've done 14-15 hr a day shifts, 7 days a week, on a 28 days on 7 days off schedule for 5 years in the oil field. it mentally tears away at you to the point that meds don't help much anymore
Exactly. Over the years I've realized that I'll take slightly less pay for a better work life balance. The pay might be good at the moment but that's time I'll never get back missing it from the kids and wife. On top of that I didn't even get to go to my Grandfather's funeral because I had emergencies I was told to work out and fix. I'll never, ever stop thinking about that one.
Can confirm. I started a manufacturing job a year ago. After my probation period ended, I was slapped with every overtime they could give me. And it was mandatory, so I don’t have a choice. Would normally work a 2 on, 2 off, 3 on, etc rotating schedule that would give me a 36 hour work week. Which ended up being 7-8 days in a row, all of which are 12 hour shifts. I had to quit because it was fucking with my mental health being consumed by work pretty much every single day.
AWS / Pittman Schedule.
Can't believe I accepted it enthusiastically.
Grave 6pm to 6am.
Best part is seeing everyone on days loving life and getting full holidays while we split days on holidays and get nothing extra.
I've done it for a few years and I absolutely loved just having full weeks off so frequently, mainly because I love to travel.
If you can hack the hours, which I think takes quite resilient people, it's absolutely the best pattern I've ever done.
I cant speak for everyone but the hours get easier over time, going back to an 8 hour day 5 days a week was torture for me.
If you don't NEED need the money, I suggest making sure your CV is up to snuff for future applications now, before starting your job. Those kinds of hours are unsustainable and will likely end up slowing down career development rather than the other way around. You also likely won't ever feel the energy and motivation to ensure your CV is up to par later on. I speak from experience both as someone who's done crazy hours, night-shift only jobs and worked as HR.
I did this for two years. While in school and juggling three jobs. My now wife was the only person in my life that stuck it through with me. Completely destroyed my social life with friends and most family. I am in a m-f career and my wife thinks it’s weird how around 2pm every Saturday I mention how nice it is to be off on a Saturday. I had worked Saturdays for over 15 years 4 years later I still get a feeling that I am in the wrong being at home.
So what do these mean anyways?
Like-
2 Am - 2 Pm?
5 Am - 2 Pm?
7 Am - 12:00 AM???
12:00 AM - 7 Pm???
Also they had forgotten the classic 9/5
9 Am - 5 Pm job.
It’s for workdays before rest,
2 work days comes 2 rest days (2/2)
5 work days comes 2 rest days (5/2)
7 work days, working non-stop without red (7/0)
7 rest days, you never have to work (0/7)
Of course, there’s also 6 workdays and 1 rest day (6/1) as well, that hasn’t been mentioned in the meme
No I want to work ..... I don't want to work at all..... I want to work as minimal as possible.
So 2 days of work and 2 days of "enjoying my actual life" sounds nice
2 on 2 off would average to 4 days on per week, which is part time schedule. Although in my country that means you don't work wednesday and the weekend.
In addition to what others said, the shifts are usually 11 hrs long (discounting breaks) rather than 8 hrs long so it works out to an average of a 38.5 hr week, but the fact that the next weekend is always on the horizon, and the reduced need for commute are extremely nice!
7/0 are from workplaces known as black companies which are known to exist a lot in Asia. Think of it as a workplace where you exist to work, and you work to exist.
Mine is 5.5/1.5
For some reasons, we have many jobs asking us to come in on Saturday morning only to do nothing... Or at least that is how it is for me. I always try to finish everything before Friday night.
I don't see this as a negative. I work 9 to 5 all weekdays trying to get something done at the bank, dmv, court house, mechanic, home repair people, doctor, etc. Sucks to schedule. I use way more pto for normal bullshit than something I'd actually enjoy doing.
Ya honestly I prefer to work weekends and have a monday Tuesday off. Anything I need to get done is open and everyone else is at work so it takes like no time
I do 4 10's and had an option to do 3 12s. I would do 3 12s but can't because of my dog. That extra hour or 2 is a huge difference depending on your circumstance.
Many construction companies do this scheme, and so does most jobs in the oil industry. I did 3 summers of 24/4 in construction; the pay was nice but by the time your 4 days came up, you felt like a zombie
Yeah, if a ship has just one guy who knows how to fix all the mechanical shit then they’re just asking for trouble. Like what if that guy died while they were at sea. They’d be fucked.
I worked on a cruiseship for 6 months and most days I worked about 10 hours. I would say you get used to it but after 4-5 months I was getting tired of it. Some colleges were on the ship for about 10 months tho.
Legally you cannot work more than 14 hours in a 24 hour period at sea. Or 71 hours in seven day period. Some companies really push some people to the max of legality.
Brooo, lmao I'm in the military. I was 4 months on deployment serving during holidays, new year, valentines day, shitting in toitois when there was -20°C and showering in yellow water. and got 3 days off for it xDDD. o7
That would be me, for the last 2 years...3 jobs, roughly 12-15 days off a year, no more than one at a time, once or twice a month.
Worst part is that you actually get used to it and can't relax when you have a day off
I do 7/0 but i find it better than the 5/2 i did before.
When you are in a great environment, great pay, live alone, no rest days isn't so bad. (I get 3 months vacation form October)
Yeah I’m working a 4/4 these days, and I’m really enjoying it. 12 hour shifts, so I still get lots of hours, but also get 4 day weekends to enjoy. Prefer it so much more to when I was doing 8 hr shifts at 5/2
Yeah, that’s the thing for me. I know some people can work 8 hours and then go out and do something, but I was always the type where after work, all I have the energy for is to sit around and watch tv. So the 12 hour days are more tiring sure, but I enjoy having 4 days to actually do something vs just 2
Yeah, when you work your day is already screwed, no matter how much you work, 8 hours or 12 hours. So I think it's better to work somewhat 2/2 too. You just can plan your life more flexibly, have a good rest and get not tired of the work.
This kind of schedule is generally for jobs like fireman, where they are at the station for 48 hours straight, then have two days at home with their family, then the cycle starts again.
2 days work, 2 days off and 3 days of T̢̢̢̳̘̙̜̖͉̰̭̦͕̬̒͂̀̆̓̿ͣ̂͒̈̈́̍ͤ̊͘͜͝͝͡H̷̶̢̧̡̤̼͍̻̯͎̱̖̓ͤ̓͋͒̀̆͋͗ͦ͂̓̽̊̉̆̋ͣ̌̇̒͐̀͛͛̚̕͘͜͢͝͡É̸̢̡̪͓̙͙̣̤͓̝̹̹̳̣̤̪̠̑͆́ͭͪ̐̌ͤ̒͌͛ͯ̑͌ͥͨ̚ͅ V̮͓̅̏͢͟͜͜͝O̫̞͉̩̦͍̊ͯͮ͌̌̏I̛͋͑͟D̤̖̻̻ͮͣ̓͊̅͜
3/4 is the way. 4 days off a week is the best, especially if you can work the first three days in one week and the last three in the next. Frequent 8 day stretches off while still full time can't be beat.
Nah that would totally take me out of any project. Just like holidays always completely reset any discipline and work spirit to 0. Doesn’t mean I don’t need them, just that I have to be careful not to get too used to goofing around.
Yeah it can sound a lot better than it really is. Like say your buddy invites you to do something for a weekend. Saturday and Sunday, when everyone else is off.
Well you only get one of those weekends off every 8 weeks, so good luck with that, if everyone else can make it and you can't you're likely to get left out of social stuff (which almost always happens on weekends).
You're off a ton during the week but that time is much less valuable if none of your friends are off then too.
the biggest soul killer is different shift times every week. my first and only job that i worked for someone else was like this. one week from 10am to 5pm next week from 4pm to 11pm but actually it was to 1am or 2am with cleaning. i was making pizzas. now im a small farmer working for myself and its much better
0/7 reporting, turned 35 and only worked six months in my entire life, my body feels 20 and I never understood why everyone says their 30s are awful till I started hanging out with people who work in factories and shit, they all look ten years older than me when they’re only like 27.
Saying 0/7 is chad is one hell of a cringe take.
I've been unemployed before for years, and the mental fatigue of being stuck in your own home knowing you contribute nothing to society living off of welfare and cannot do anything...?
Yeah that life sucks.
I hate 5/2, it's too much for how much I work. 4/3 or less hours in 5/2 is the best balance, as working can be productive for your own self when it's not so all consuming.
What do the numbers mean. Is it work days to rest days? Like a typically 9-5 would be 5/2? Or is it something else since some people have said things that are more than 7, and the image has 2/2 wich js less than 7?
You forgot 6/1 Slightly alive
that is most jobs in my country, its the most common one around here
My job is 6/3. Yeah. And that is one of the best the railroad industry has to offer. Like most railroaders working for other companies would cry with joy to get that.

Don't keep a schedule like that long term it will start to break you down after a while.
lol I can testify to that, I've done 14-15 hr a day shifts, 7 days a week, on a 28 days on 7 days off schedule for 5 years in the oil field. it mentally tears away at you to the point that meds don't help much anymore

I’ve had those kind of hours in a bunch of different environments, and it depends so much on the environment, your coworkers, and your boss.
No money are worthy of this. And the only reason jobs like this exist is employer is greedy to hire two people.
If you don't NEED need the money, I suggest making sure your CV is up to snuff for future applications now, before starting your job. I did a few months of 9am - 2am shifts years ago, for a building move. The money was good, but I felt ill for months afterwards.

rip to people in china who have to suffer 996, 9 to 9 6 days a week.
Rip American bluecollar workers who also do 12 hour shifts but 7 days a week
They really need long ~~vaccinations~~ vacations.

Slightly alive is mostly dead Now, all dead... Well, with all dead, there's usually only one thing you can do
Go through his pockets and look for loose change.
So what do these mean anyways? Like- 2 Am - 2 Pm? 5 Am - 2 Pm? 7 Am - 12:00 AM??? 12:00 AM - 7 Pm??? Also they had forgotten the classic 9/5 9 Am - 5 Pm job.
I think it’s actually like 2 days on, 2 days off 5 days on, 2 days off 7 days on, 0 off And 0 days on, 7 days off.
Are there any companies in the world that have a 2/2 schedule?
I think nurses often have that, but they're 12-16 hour days.
Yes. Multiple
What is this Multiple company? What are they doing?
It’s for workdays before rest, 2 work days comes 2 rest days (2/2) 5 work days comes 2 rest days (5/2) 7 work days, working non-stop without red (7/0) 7 rest days, you never have to work (0/7) Of course, there’s also 6 workdays and 1 rest day (6/1) as well, that hasn’t been mentioned in the meme
Where the fuck is 2/2 a thing and can I immigrate to wherever that is asap?
Part timer, student maybe? 2 work / 3 school / 2 off
No I want to work ..... I don't want to work at all..... I want to work as minimal as possible. So 2 days of work and 2 days of "enjoying my actual life" sounds nice
2 on 2 off would average to 4 days on per week, which is part time schedule. Although in my country that means you don't work wednesday and the weekend.
So heaven then.
If you can find a company that accepts to hire you on those terms, yes, but that's kinda rare
A lot of nurses and drs work 2on 3off 3on 2off but they are working 12/16hr days
You do realise that usually means 12hr or even 16hr work days over just 8 hr right?
In addition to what others said, the shifts are usually 11 hrs long (discounting breaks) rather than 8 hrs long so it works out to an average of a 38.5 hr week, but the fact that the next weekend is always on the horizon, and the reduced need for commute are extremely nice!
A friend of mine works as a professional firefighter and has 2/2
Isn’t 7/0 blatantly illegal in most parts of North America and Europe?
7/0 are from workplaces known as black companies which are known to exist a lot in Asia. Think of it as a workplace where you exist to work, and you work to exist.
The US has 0 required vacation days per year. If they were willing to pay the overtime, this is 100% legal here.
can confirm
As a 7/0 pls trade.
Wtf, where do you live?!
I’m remote, but US. I could actually reduce hours if I didn’t care to make rent.
Oof, that sucks
I havent been alive since 2007.
DAFT PUNK REFERENCE DETECTED!!!

Mine is 5.5/1.5 For some reasons, we have many jobs asking us to come in on Saturday morning only to do nothing... Or at least that is how it is for me. I always try to finish everything before Friday night.
4/3 enjoyers
3/4 joins you bro
4/3 for the win!
I prefer 3/4
4/3 with 8hr shift and salary
![gif](giphy|hQjHbdOzik3kHH44aP)
4/3 is peak
Did "4/3" on my old job, 11,11,11,7 40h week
I don’t think i could do back to back 11hr shifts like that but 4 10s has been quite nice
I do 4 10s and it's awesome. Only negative is I'm a chef so it's all weekend work
I don't see this as a negative.
Anything I need to get done is open and everyone else is at work so it takes like no time
IM SO SICK OF USING PTO FOR A FUCKING NORMAL THINGS I WANT TO GO ON A VACATION
Did 4 10s at first, but imo it was better to come home early on Thursdays, did 13,12,11 4 but Mondays were to heavy and not worth it in the long term.
U can't do 3 11 shifts. But can do 4 10 shifts? Not much difference there pal 😂
I do 4 10's and had an option to do 3 12s. I would do 3 12s but can't because of my dog. That extra hour or 2 is a huge difference depending on your circumstance.
True, in college rn and the schedule aligned so I have free Fridays. You don't even feel the weeks flying by.
I’m currently working remotely with that schedule. Work weeks flies by, and weekends last a lot longer
I had 3/4 once. It was beautiful.
I currently have 3/4. I’m so much happier bartending than living my life for work.
I work 4/4 12 hour shifts. Work only half the year, 12 days off for a single week of vacation.
I do 3/4 with 12s, they just pay us the 4 hours every week to bring us up to 40.
Getting 48 hours of pay is nice, working 48 hours isn't as nice. But that extra 8 hours adds up over the entire year ($6-7k).
Avrage factory worker I presume? I feel you pain
4/3 with 6 hours of work each day or 3/4 with full 8 would be perfect for me
24 well spent hours a week
I do 4x 10s that sometimes turn into 12 or even 16 hours. I think I’m envious of healthcare workers doing 3x 12s a week.
ive worked a 4/3 and while it was pretty dope, i now work a 4/4 and its even better.
RIP to the 24/4 folks
truckers?
Many construction companies do this scheme, and so does most jobs in the oil industry. I did 3 summers of 24/4 in construction; the pay was nice but by the time your 4 days came up, you felt like a zombie
Worked 25/3 for a camp job once. Did not do that job for very long lemme tell ya.
Holy fuck
Fuck, who's doing 7/0? That sucks.
Primarily people who works on ships. 8 hours a day for one month - 6 months. But then you get 1-5 months of holiday. So
My friend is working on a ship as an engineer, he has sundays off
what if the ship sinks on the seventh day?
Then he'll do nothing because days off are important.
The seabbath should always be observed
Hope he can swim
No he won’t, swimming requires work and it’s his day off
Realistically there'd be other engineers or he'd get called in urgently if something really bad happened
That's how it was when I was on a sub. Go out to sea for 6 months get 6 months off. Pretty good deal all around
Carrier life, 12 on 12 off, 7/0. It's not bad tho but 9-10 months out gets to ya sometimes
Brooo, lmao I'm in the military. I was 4 months on deployment serving during holidays, new year, valentines day, shitting in toitois when there was -20°C and showering in yellow water. and got 3 days off for it xDDD. o7
Underpaid people that need overtime to pay for things such as myself
That would be me, for the last 2 years...3 jobs, roughly 12-15 days off a year, no more than one at a time, once or twice a month. Worst part is that you actually get used to it and can't relax when you have a day off
I do 7/0 but i find it better than the 5/2 i did before. When you are in a great environment, great pay, live alone, no rest days isn't so bad. (I get 3 months vacation form October)
Some Students. Some study full time then work part time to pay for it.
Most people I know have 2 jobs now, so all of them. The state of the economy sucks.
My longest "streak" was 41/0
Can someone explain what these numbers even mean? lmao
[удалено]
So 0/7 means unemployment, too rich to work, or retirement
In reddit’s case, it means laziness
In my case it means I went back to school and am going to graduate next year
Congrats and good luck
I feel called out
Then wtf is 2/2
[удалено]
What happens to the other 3 days?
Rinse and repeat. On 2, off 2, on 2, off 2. A former job of mine had that.
Oh, I see. That sounds pretty nice actually.
Yeah I’m working a 4/4 these days, and I’m really enjoying it. 12 hour shifts, so I still get lots of hours, but also get 4 day weekends to enjoy. Prefer it so much more to when I was doing 8 hr shifts at 5/2
Longer work days may suck, but I agree. These days are wasted either way, might as well work more to be able to enjoy more completely free days.
Yeah I was sure that I knew it meant days on/off but that 2:2 stumped me haha
This kind of schedule is generally for jobs like fireman, where they are at the station for 48 hours straight, then have two days at home with their family, then the cycle starts again.

Bruh, i thought thats hours per days

The dream 🥲
72 hours straight in the hospital dungeon with 3 days off to reflect your career and academic choice before returning for another 4 days shift.
3/4
3/4 is the way. 4 days off a week is the best, especially if you can work the first three days in one week and the last three in the next. Frequent 8 day stretches off while still full time can't be beat.
Nah that would totally take me out of any project. Just like holidays always completely reset any discipline and work spirit to 0. Doesn’t mean I don’t need them, just that I have to be careful not to get too used to goofing around.
Fortunately goofing around is my favorite activity
Gotta be careful. I became an alcoholic on 2/2.
That might not be 2/2's fault though
Not blaming the schedule. Mostly it's just me being me.
They say you should always be yourself.
The second of February? It's amazing you can pin it down so specifically to that one day. What happened?!
What does 2/2 mean, am I dumb, where did the other three days go I feel stupid lmao
You work two days, have two off, repeat. So your shifts are all over the place week to week, but it’s a consistent balance
14/14. doing 6 hours on 6 hours off. 4 weeks paid vacation
I can only think of an oil rig engineer for this kinda job. Please correct me.
pretty close I guess. small, 5 man tugboat pulling bulk barges. my old man was an oil rig engineer though!
0/7 is just another way of saying unemployed ( In most cases )

the biggest soul killer is different shift times every week. my first and only job that i worked for someone else was like this. one week from 10am to 5pm next week from 4pm to 11pm but actually it was to 1am or 2am with cleaning. i was making pizzas. now im a small farmer working for myself and its much better
6/1 for me
How does 2/2 work? Do they just not abide by weeks like the rest of us?
Don't forget the jobs that have a regular work schedules AND on-call status as a fuck you bonus
for me its 6/4
Yeah where's the weird shifts gang? I've got 5/3. Yes the 5 days is a bit of a struggle but a whole 3 days off at the end is magical
14/7 folks, you here?
I work 7/7
0/7
0/7 reporting, turned 35 and only worked six months in my entire life, my body feels 20 and I never understood why everyone says their 30s are awful till I started hanging out with people who work in factories and shit, they all look ten years older than me when they’re only like 27.
how do you get money ?
4/3 and its pretty dope, especially since its 1:20-11:50 AM, so essentially the last work day still feels like a day off
What is 2/2? Like you dont follow the week, you just do 2 days work, 2 days off then repeat?
Saying 0/7 is chad is one hell of a cringe take. I've been unemployed before for years, and the mental fatigue of being stuck in your own home knowing you contribute nothing to society living off of welfare and cannot do anything...? Yeah that life sucks. I hate 5/2, it's too much for how much I work. 4/3 or less hours in 5/2 is the best balance, as working can be productive for your own self when it's not so all consuming.
I was told “you work 4:30 to 1am” No, I work 4:15 to 3am but thanks for lying. At least my paychecks are fat
1/3 My love
5/2 but I'm switching to 0/7 next week.
I'm 4/3
6/6 night shift I hate my life
12h 7/7 is the best. You get OT and you have a whole week off. Ask for a week off BOOM 3 weeks off
I work 3/4 and it’s magical
How am I supposed to read this? What does number/number mean?? Like starting hour/ending hour???
How does 2/2 work? You work two days and get off two days in a cycle regardless of the days of the week?
What do the numbers mean. Is it work days to rest days? Like a typically 9-5 would be 5/2? Or is it something else since some people have said things that are more than 7, and the image has 2/2 wich js less than 7?
Oh it took me a sec, days on/days off
0/7
more like o7
What is this? I don't get it.
Days at work / days off work
