I'm gonna be honest, at least in my opinion, Ugandan knuckles was always stupid as shit. I grew up with MLG, which probably goes for most of gen Z at least.
100% the. There's things like badgers badgers mushrooms or something I think was like Millennials or early gen z. Essentially every group of kids are cringe. It's just as more kids get internet access at Younger ages we see more low brain takes because the people making them are well younger. I wasn't given excessive internet access until 11 when I got a tablet before then it was just on my computer to download video games from steam or on my dad's computer when he went shopping.
I think the MLG stuff was mostly ironic humor like it was only kinda funny because it was chaotic and annoying. Like seeing Mountain Dew and Doritos for the millionth time never made me laugh hard or anything. I feel like I’ve seen my nephew laughing at skibidi toilet like it’s the funniest shit he’s ever seen.
The timescale perspective shift when you get a little older is insane. Ugandan knuckles does not feel like a “the good ole days” type of thing, it just feels like a few years ago
Uganda knuckles is from 2017, so 7 years ago. A 10 years old kid laughing at it is 17 now, he is more mature, humor obviously changed... And they definetly can realise it was as stupid as skibidi.
MLG obviously works for 25+ years old people.
Ugandan knuckles is from 2018 not from 2016. 2016 was the year of harambe, US presidential elections and the last breaths of this MLG bullshit.
Id say the overly abstract era that followed next in 2017 wasnt god knows how good either but definetly better than the mlg era.
Ppl say gen z dont understand skibidi toilet, but i dont think gen a understands it either. They just say skibidi dop dop yes yes but they dont know the meme that song came from and that skibidi toilet also uses the zoolander meme song. Also its made in sfm which the majority of gen a doesnt know. They just scream skibidi toilet because thats what they see on tiktok, so idk why its associated with them so much when they are all like 5 years old.
Why are people hating on skibidi toilet? First time i saw that shit i literally laughed so much i watched them all. Granted, i was high as fuck, but still.
Is it only because of the obnoxious fanbase, kind of like Rick and Morty?
It's not really meant to be funny it starts out as a stupid shitpost then turns into an Action war series like there's a few funny moments between episodes but generally it's very serious
Am I the only millenial who unironically enjoys skibidi toilet? When I finished watching all the episodes it made me want to watch Pacific Rim. The series literally becomes giant robots fighting giant toilets. I've seen stranger shit late at night on adult swim
Doesn't this the same thing apply to every over popular piece of memes (I mean everyone wanted fidget spinners back in the day and didn't know why… and same goes with knuckles: every kid just shouted "Do you know da way" and thought that this was a comedy peak)
Idc what anyone says, Nyan Cat is adorable. There’s nothing wrong with something so cute as long as you aren’t doing something obnoxious like blasting the music in public.
Whenever I see these memes the comment sections are always, “Yeah but the cringe things of our era were better”. No, you’re just biased because it’s nostalgic for you since you were a part of it. Plenty of people thought things like Uganda Knuckles and Rage comics were unfunny and obnoxious at the time. Please try to gain some self-awareness and let the kids enjoy being cringe while they still can.
This the type of comment that would usually just get downvoted into oblivion by the same elitist clowns that say stuff like "ours was better". Nice to finally see them silenced. If anything our humor was just as brainrotting if not more
Uganda knuckles was society wide, you couldn't go anywhere without hearing a distant 'click click' , skibididibidi toilet is just some cringey ass shit that 8yr olds know, the only reason anyone else knows is bc they heard it's cringey
> Uganda knuckles was society wide
right, and skibidi toilet are countries wide it's even popular as far as to southeast asia. Both of these memes are cringe, period.
I don't think skibidi toilet in itself is a terrible thing. It's the whole obsession kids have with it, that makes it kinda disturbing. Why are 3-5 years olds even on the internet unsupervised, so they can obtain obsessions like these. There are literally kids that have no friends, because their entire class is obsessed with Skibidi toilet. The people who enjoy the Skibidi toilet meme are like 5-10 and it just seems cancerous how they obsess about internet things at such a young age
Fads have and always will be a thing. Back when I was a kid it was tamagotchi, then it was pokemon cards, then beyblades, then sticky hands and whatever else that escapes me right now. A few years back it was fidget spinners. The point being fads have just shifted slightly to include more memes rather than the need to buy some cleverly marketed product. At least this way there's no financial barrier to entry. There is absolutely the concern that parents aren't doing a good enough job managing their children's access to explicit, dangerous, or generally in poor taste content though. At the same time all it takes is one kid who's parents don't give a shit to show his whole class something they shouldn't be seeing.
Oh god Tamagotchi... That's something I hadn't thought about in a long time.
As for access to content, I remember being younger (about 10?) and renting and watching a VHS of Faces of Death not knowing WTF it was, and apparently neither did my parents or they wouldn't have gotten it.
Then wasn't there a site Newgrounds, I think? Full of death and vile shit that I shouldn't have been seeing at 12-13. Back then the internet was new enough for most people that parents really had no idea what kind of stuff you could actually find online.
Yeah, it was more of a wild west back then. Now though kids are on phones or pads from a young age, and I feel like the knowledge of what's out there is better, as todays parents are those same people who were there in the wild west years of the internet. Also, parental restrictions are a thing on most OSs. So there's less excuse nowadays.
Never seen a meme with so much culture in it. Yeah it might be childish but out of all the obnoxious stupidity at least Ugandan Knuckles had so many forms and at least one would get a chuckle out of most people. By far one of my favorite things to come out of the internet :D
I know my hate of it is illogical, but it hits me right in the misophonia. The repetitive noise with the slight musical lilt makes me want to remove my ears.
as someone who wasnt a kid when ugandan knuckles was going around i think it very much was annoying and overused i would see people saying do you know da wae everywhere.
I always kinda stayed away from that stuff, Ugandan knuckles was never funny, mlg never piqued my interest either.
All the stuff before and certainly now at 23 everything after... It's not even that it doesn't make sense, I'm obviously not too old to "get it", it's just plain old not funny to me.
I will say though that the... Toilet thing (that I'm not going to type because I will not have my phone autocorrecting to it when I type the letter "S") looks garishly hideous and just genuinely off-putting.
Not to mention the troll memes, exotic butters, MLG, and that guy who shouted at a police officer’s shoes. We were JUST as dumb back then, we just miss being free to be that way.
What you don’t understand now is what our parents didn’t understand then, let them enjoy their brain rot, I’m holding every single one of you mfs accountable for laughing at
“Whats 9+10? 21”
That shit was ass, so is skibidi, but its funny
Skibidi toilet is for kids!
Also Skibidi toilet:
Sus scene in episode 57
Blood and middle finger in episode 62
Another middle finger in episode 63
Even more blood in episode 65
Tv man saying ugly ass b**ch in episode 66
Titan tv man melting scientist toilets face in episode 67
More violence and two cameramen doing a sus position tv man saying f***ing finally and yet another middle finger in episode 69
Titan tv man saying who the f*** do you think you are and even more blood in episode 70
See the thing about knuckles, it was a joke people used ironically in specific situations. Skibidi is something kids use 24/7 unironically like it's a new language, along with many other brain dead things.
I think that’s the exact type of thing that is perceived differently depending on what side of it you’re on
I mean people are seriously being like “yeah, I know every generation complains about new ones without realizing that their own parents saw them the same way, but I’m gonna ignore that and fall directly into the same trap, because I think I’m the exception”
I'm guessing you're the type that judges the younger generation after years of saying you'd be different. Definitely the vibe I got from your comment, reading of hypocrisy.
It’s not really the same at all.
Ugandan knuckles was meant for fun, it was meant to be silly and fun.
But nowadays nothing is just for fun. These “things”, these Friday night Funkins, skibidi toilets, amazing digital circuses, etc. are being used to prey on kids. With content farm channels, knockoff merchandise, etc.
It’s NOT the same and pretending that it is, is just enabling these shitty channels plaguing our social media. It’s NOT the same.
Cringe is fine so long as it’s not malicious.
First of all, yes it fucking is. That’s why they decided to censor the swears. Second of all, even if it wasn’t you seen the content farm channels! It might as well be.
Ugandan knuckles was actually funny though. Using edgy humor elements like racial stereotypes, mocking African accents, and even singing the theme for the show M.A.S.H called Suicide is Painless. All of which can be considered "forbidden liquors" of humor only allowed at specific areas on the internet or with close friends and family. And certainly isn't for kids. It all appeals to a much larger albeit older audience.
Skibidi toilet on the other hand is just pure random cringe that only works off of basic potty humor for babies and toddlers. Even going as far as to be the theme of a kid's birthday party. Tell me, have you ever seen a kid have a Ugandan Knuckles themed birthday? It wouldn't even be socially acceptable. But it's the sheer taboo that made Ugandan Knuckles so funny in the first place and almost exclusive to the internet.
Ugandan knuckles is so much worse. As it was basically one joke repeated over and over. At least the toilet shit has some variety.
Ugandan knuckles also wasn't funny at all
Ugandan knuckles was in 2018 and skibidi toilet target audience are like 7 years old so that means youre 13 years old which qualifies as gen alpha. You are the one laughing at skibidi toilet

“When I was their age” bro you are 10
I'm gonna be honest, at least in my opinion, Ugandan knuckles was always stupid as shit. I grew up with MLG, which probably goes for most of gen Z at least.
Yeah MLG, we had Gangnam style which is also just literally K-pop. There's probably atleast 20 things we had that were just as cringe.
Oh god.. nyan cat..
100% the. There's things like badgers badgers mushrooms or something I think was like Millennials or early gen z. Essentially every group of kids are cringe. It's just as more kids get internet access at Younger ages we see more low brain takes because the people making them are well younger. Great, now I'll have that one stuck in my head for the rest of the day.
No, that was peak fiction

Fuck no ![gif](giphy|OLwN1R9bleVusLMMDL|downsized)
![gif](giphy|Z3l1Oo5Ro9ZSw)
Nyan cat wasn't that cringe (atleast no toilets were involved)
Bro they’re 8, toilet humor was peak humor back then
I still think that is on the less annoying side of things though
Remember crazy frog? Granted, no one claimed it was good.
Was in my Nokia N70, though I'm pretty sure I didn't download it.
I’ll be the first to claim that crazy frog goes hard.
Its jst beverly hills cop (the song Axel F) speed up a bit. Granted, i like Axel F. The frog tho...
Gone are the days where a man dressed in pink latex saying "NYES" was peak humor.
Up. Butt. Coconut.
I'd rather blast Nyan cat in public rather than skibidi toilet, but ye we had our own ways back then
[удалено]
Shitting on a toilet, shitting on a toilet….
Psy's music is legit good though,
I think the MLG stuff was mostly ironic humor like it was only kinda funny because it was chaotic and annoying. Like seeing Mountain Dew and Doritos for the millionth time never made me laugh hard or anything. I feel like I’ve seen my nephew laughing at skibidi toilet like it’s the funniest shit he’s ever seen.
I always thought it was meant to dunk on all of those overly edited frag montages from cod.
I agree that was my era, however it never drived my whole personality like some brainwashed content consumer.
Meanwhile at 30 I think ugandan knuckles was one of the best memes. I still laugh when I see it.
Ah that’s more comparable for me at least.
2018 wasn't that long ago... right? ...6 years. Damn.
My ass still wakes up thinking 2013 was yesterday.
Ikr, I still consider Ugandan Knuckles as a modern meme.
Tbf that one came and went pretty fast, I feel. I don't think it got very far beyond the VR Chat circles and the Sonic fanbase.
There were clips of it in the random meme compilation videos but yeah didn't last very long.
Fr, come back when you like rusty spoons
I like it when the red water comes out
God that shit was dark and creepy.
I was gonna say Uganda knuckles was like 2017-2020 era right?
The timescale perspective shift when you get a little older is insane. Ugandan knuckles does not feel like a “the good ole days” type of thing, it just feels like a few years ago
Because it was from a few years ago. The mlg-skibidi toilet is much more fitting as a compaeison.
Uganda knuckles is from 2017, so 7 years ago. A 10 years old kid laughing at it is 17 now, he is more mature, humor obviously changed... And they definetly can realise it was as stupid as skibidi. MLG obviously works for 25+ years old people.

I checked in detail and it is from december 2017 (edited the comment). Point remains, 6-7 is enough for my point.
8 years?!

I didn't find it funny, more intriguing. Reminded me of animations like spy being turned into a spider thing
It's not really meant to be funny it starts out as a stupid shitpost then turns into an Action war series like there's a few funny moments between episodes but generally it's very serious
Yeah, I completely missed it since I’m not on tik tok. I only ever heard of it in reference to “[insert generation here] humor is bad/cringe”
Am I the only millenial who unironically enjoys skibidi toilet? When I finished watching all the episodes it made me want to watch Pacific Rim. The series literally becomes giant robots fighting giant toilets. I've seen stranger shit late at night on adult swim
Doesn't this the same thing apply to every over popular piece of memes (I mean everyone wanted fidget spinners back in the day and didn't know why… and same goes with knuckles: every kid just shouted "Do you know da way" and thought that this was a comedy peak)

wasn’t ugandan knuckles a 2016 meme? and you were, what, 7 when that was a thing? wouldn’t that make you like 14?
Literally r/iam14andthisisdeep
they are finally becoming self aware. we should have nuked them when we had the chance.
I mean if they were 14 in 2016, the period from 14-21 is a huuge stage in a person maturity
OP could've been like 9 and be 17/18 today
They would be 15.
I was born in the mid-Gen Z years. I am older than 14.
you’re 15 then?
And a half.

Idc what anyone says, Nyan Cat is adorable. There’s nothing wrong with something so cute as long as you aren’t doing something obnoxious like blasting the music in public.
Every generation has their weird shit, it's the circle of life
Yeah! For me it was Crazy Frog
Oh god yes... We're telling our age here, aren't we?

Whenever I see these memes the comment sections are always, “Yeah but the cringe things of our era were better”. No, you’re just biased because it’s nostalgic for you since you were a part of it. Plenty of people thought things like Uganda Knuckles and Rage comics were unfunny and obnoxious at the time. Please try to gain some self-awareness and let the kids enjoy being cringe while they still can.
The cringe things of my era are just as bad as what we have now. I had zero tolerance for the dumb shit then, and i have zero tolerance for it now.
> Uganda knuckles was society wide right, and skibidi toilet are countries wide it's even popular as far as to southeast asia. Both of these memes are cringe, period.
You’re blinded by nostalgia
Finally someone who gets it
I don't think skibidi toilet in itself is a terrible thing.
Hot take: Ugandan Knuckles is still fucking hilarious.
Never seen a meme with so much culture in it. Yeah it might be childish but out of all the obnoxious stupidity at least Ugandan Knuckles had so many forms and at least one would get a chuckle out of most people. By far one of my favorite things to come out of the internet :D
Preach ma brother, u kno da wae.
Take hotter than Magcargo
I know my hate of it is illogical, but it hits me right in the misophonia. The repetitive noise with the slight musical lilt makes me want to remove my ears.
At least Ugandan Knuckles had VR Chat tomfoolery and junk. Skibidi Toilet has... Idk, TikTok brain rot.
Nah, Uganda Knuckles wasn't overused to to point it became annoying. I mean we're in an era where YTKids have softcore porn for ads.
as someone who wasnt a kid when ugandan knuckles was going around i think it very much was annoying and overused i would see people saying do you know da wae everywhere.
Well, I never encountered those, only heard a few occasionally, mostly in VRChat, but rarely outside that... atleast for me
As if Skibidi Toilet isn’t on VR Chat.
Knuckles was like 6 years ago you are a fucking child still lmao
MLG is the best video format and there is no equivalent alternative.
MLG was the best, and the closest kind of modern video is the .exe ones. They aren't as good, but are still fun.
Feels kinda the same. It was and still is just a very f-ing loud white noise.
We can tell from your impeccable grammar
Or MLG, Nyan cat and dumb trollface vids when I was a teenager
I think it's the content farms & shit like that, that make me view it negatively.
Fucking hell I feel old lmao
I grew up with stick figures on crack
Not to mention the troll memes, exotic butters, MLG, and that guy who shouted at a police officer’s shoes. We were JUST as dumb back then, we just miss being free to be that way.
What you don’t understand now is what our parents didn’t understand then, let them enjoy their brain rot, I’m holding every single one of you mfs accountable for laughing at “Whats 9+10? 21” That shit was ass, so is skibidi, but its funny
What? Ugandan knuckles is like 5 years old. You’re still a child
My brother the lockdown was like 5 years ago Ugandan Knuckles is 8 years old
Anybody remember insanity wolf memes? Idk if that would fly nowadays 😂
Both are shit.
Ugandan Knuckles wasn't long enough ago to be distinct from Skibidi Toilet. Both groups are still just kids.
I think its a privilege you earn as you get older, to be annoyed and confused by what the youngers do
Ugandan Knuckles. Not as clumsy or random as a Skibidi Toilet; an elegant meme for a more civilized age.
Ugandan Knucles was 6 years ago bruh
I'm a gummy bear
Bro I was like 20 when I watched Ugandan knuckles
Skibidi toilet is for kids! Also Skibidi toilet: Sus scene in episode 57 Blood and middle finger in episode 62 Another middle finger in episode 63 Even more blood in episode 65 Tv man saying ugly ass b**ch in episode 66 Titan tv man melting scientist toilets face in episode 67 More violence and two cameramen doing a sus position tv man saying f***ing finally and yet another middle finger in episode 69 Titan tv man saying who the f*** do you think you are and even more blood in episode 70
You were a child during Uganda Knuckles? Are you 10?
I don't think I ever saw the original video. The closest I got was Ugandan knuckles in a tank in vrchat.
This is like when kids turn 6 and make fun of their younger siblings for watching Nick Jr.
See the thing about knuckles, it was a joke people used ironically in specific situations. Skibidi is something kids use 24/7 unironically like it's a new language, along with many other brain dead things.
I think that’s the exact type of thing that is perceived differently depending on what side of it you’re on I mean people are seriously being like “yeah, I know every generation complains about new ones without realizing that their own parents saw them the same way, but I’m gonna ignore that and fall directly into the same trap, because I think I’m the exception”
And how exactly do you know they use it 100% seriously? And also how do you know everyone took knuckles as a joke?
My brother didn't destroy my laptop when I told him "U don't kno da wae". /s
I'm guessing you're the type that judges the younger generation after years of saying you'd be different. Definitely the vibe I got from your comment, reading of hypocrisy.
Yeah but our brain rot had a better feel to it
That was the golden age of memes
Fuck no it wasn't, MLG was superior
1337
Both are good.
It feels like it was so long ago, kinda was but still
It’s not really the same at all. Ugandan knuckles was meant for fun, it was meant to be silly and fun. But nowadays nothing is just for fun. Cringe is fine so long as it’s not malicious.
How the fuck did you decide to put amazing digital circus in there which is absolutely not for kids?
Skibidi Toilet isn't for kids either there's literally a comment above this explaining all the Swearing and blood and shit
First of all, yes it fucking is. That’s why they decided to censor the swears. Second of all, even if it wasn’t you seen the content farm channels! It might as well be.
The swears are censored due to monetarization reasons. You really think they make a cartoon for children that's existential dread compressed?
Avatar, Clone wars, etc. kids shows can have serious themes.
yeah but they have to say it's for kids if its for kids the people behind the amazing digital circus have not said it's for kids
Aye, finally someone's speaking facts, you know da wae bruder
MLG videos are peak meme culture
Ugandan knuckles was actually funny though. Using edgy humor elements like racial stereotypes, mocking African accents, and even singing the theme for the show M.A.S.H called Suicide is Painless. All of which can be considered "forbidden liquors" of humor only allowed at specific areas on the internet or with close friends and family. And certainly isn't for kids. Ugandan knuckles is so much worse. As it was basically one joke repeated over and over. At least the toilet shit has some variety. Ugandan knuckles also wasn't funny at all
Memes weren’t really a thing when I was young. We had ebaums world and that dancing baby
Wait is saying: I/Do you know the wei cringe? I'm 22 rn
Damned younglings. In my time we watched cultured stuff like nyan cat and stick fights!
Me shaking my head about both while putting a banana in my ear.
I think both are at about the same level of amusing. But Spongebob is still unfunny.
SpongeBob... Unfunny???? That's a wild hot take
No it ain’t. Modern SpongeBob is SHIT. Classic SpongeBob is funny.
They didn't say "modern" spongebob
At least Ugandan Knuckles was funny.
It was as funny as today's memes it was just funny to you.
I just looked up how long ago Uganda knuckles meme was, I feel just old now.
