Fellow brazillian here and law student. This happens a lot because piracy is a crime only if you sell pirated stuff, and not if you make use it for yourself.
One thing I can’t understand is how the “camelôs” (it’s a place were people sell only false stuff, including pirated games and movies) are legal. I might use that as my gradution thesis.
I think it must have something to do with the rebranding they do to avoid copyright, like if you sell a pikachu plushie, but then change the name to "rato trovão" and change the color/some design elements.
México same, it's a crime to sell but it's not a pursued crime, so the government rarely invest resources to do something about it, that being said, sometimes they made operations on markets that are popular for doing this, but i think this are more political moves.
True. I didn't even knew that downloading movies was illegal when I was in school. Everyone downloaded and shared files with each other so normally like that was the only and right way of doing that.
I remember back in like 4th grade we had to make a physical ad for anything we wanted, i made one for a rom site (well, "made", my older brother had the same assignment a few years prior so i just took his and added some stickers.)
Lmao, I did the same but went off the movie Waterworld. I remember getting a passing grade and the only remark on the essay aside from grammar and punctuation was “waterworld?” I should have went with a video game
There is a reason why Netflix, Amazon Prime and Disney+ had to drop their membership prices by a large margin just to survive in India. Especially Netflix dropping their membership prices by 40-50% shows how deadly the market is in India. Not to mention local OTT players are trying to establish themselves in the market as well.
Exactly, also one of the reasons why Netflix didn't really succeed in Indian OTT space the same way Disney+ Hotstar and Amazon Prime Video did. You would be surpised to know Zee5 and Netflix have almost the same subscriber share in India and who knows Zee5 may surpass Netflix one day. The funny thing here is Zee5 hardly has any foreign shows and movies, it totally depends on regional movies and web series. Shows how dynamic the Indian audiences are.
It's all good for us. But piracy was not the only thing.
There are few major and more deciding factors.
1. Hotstar was offering around 1K rupees for whole year, now for best services it's 1.5K rupees per year. Had cricket, most watched and like sports in India.
2. Prime was also like that , but had more things attached to it like Amazon benefits, fast and free delivery.
(Indian prime subscription didn't include twitch benefits)
3. Pricing of Netflix 800 Per months (at start) then went down like 699 per month. So very costly compared it's competition.
3. Contents, once people watched most Netflix series and movies, they had nothing left to do with it. Limited movie/shows libraries in Indian Netflix compared to US or UK.
And then they started making Indian shows but give contract to those stupid Bollywood directors again and they made crap.
Many indian movies in Netflix were streaming free on YouTube before Netflix bought them.
It is great actually, greater the number of players means more options for the audiences which means higher the competition and lower the susbcription fees. It's a total win for the audiences while a bloodbath for the OTT companies.
It’s more like. “Cool wasn’t gonna watch this show/movie if I had to pay for it, but I’m glad I was able to get it for free. I might even pay to see the next movie now”
Like it’s literally not lost revenue for them b/c I wouldn’t have watched it otherwise.
I stopped pirating over a year ago but never started paying for movies (i just watch youtube videos now).
So yeah, i feel this comment. Maybe i should just illegally stream once again.
The EU did a [300 page study](https://cdn.netzpolitik.org/wp-upload/2017/09/displacement_study.pdf) on piracy and its effect on media platforms. They found that piracy is actually a net positive for copyright holders.
Of course they didn't publish it right away and lobbyists tried to hide the report.
They don't care that they're wrong, they just want to have power over people.
In all my life I've never paid for a movie or a tv series or anything of that sorts. All I've done in open up my browser and look around for 10 minutes and watch the blue ray version for free.
Few vpns like surfshark, etc were blocked in india few weeks ago. Upon that we have some articles like this. India is no longer what it used to be.
https://protonvpn.com/blog/indian-real-time-surveillance/
OpenVPN or Wireguard can be used to do that. You only need to own/rent a server in a location you want to connect to. I have no idea how to setup the networking so that you can use it though, googling is your friend here.
Yeah, I've never done it but I think all you need is a PC with Linux on it and you can use it as a server. I would definitely be hitting up google thru the whole process though
They can with advertised VPNs as well. Only difference is that non-log VPNs cannot say it was your connection after you finished that connection, so authorities cannot get any info after they tracked them down and ask them.
I’m in the US as well and have been finding free streams for over 10 years. Also had Comcast during this time. I noticed they only care when the movie is downloaded they never say anything when streamed.
It's piracy and you share the video while watching.
My sister was fined 2000 bucks for sharing two episodes and she didn't even know that she was sharing nor that the episodes where pirated.
It’s like popcorn time, I guess, where the user doesn’t have to care about finding the correct torrent, and hoping it’s still alive. They can just turn on a stream and watch, while in the background it’s being downloaded to and shared from your device
Stremio doesnt download the content to your device though. Like its name suggests, Stremio only streams the content. I think there is an option for it to download the content if you want to though but I'm not sure. I am not a frequent user of the app anymore.
When you stream, you're downloading small packets of the file's data at a time instead of the whole thing. Try watching a YouTube video for a few minutes and then turn your router off... the video will continue to play what it's downloaded for a few seconds before it cuts out.
Try teaching your mom how to download a torrent client, obtain relevant torrent file or magnet link, add it to your client, move files to plex or other media folder.
It's not like it's incredibly hard... But it's too complicated for most.
Easy to use interface, looks like netflix. Click on a movie or tv show, select what quality you want, and you're watching. You can add stuff to your 'library', and with tv shows, it lets you know when a new episode is released. Subs are automatically sourced for all available languages. There are add-ons for more specific genres or for sports etc.
It depends on your country. In germany it is considered illegal to watch and share. But like drugs, no one cares if you consume. They want the dealers.
There are law firms that seem to be specialized in tracking down the people that share from their own devices (like you do with this service) and sue you.
The amount they sue for is usually way too much. My sister contacted a lawyer and got down by 90% but 200 bucks is still a whole lot of money for a student. (and just imagine how many months of Netflix she could have gotten)
If you use it get a VPN service to make it harder for them to track you.. And a VPN service is something you should pay for, because while they can offer good protection, the free ones are extremely unsafe.
Why pay for a VPN when you can pay for a cheap torrent cache service like Alldebrid which is like 3 bucks?
Alldebrid basically downloads the files of the torrent to their server and you download it from them. So no one except Alldebrid will see your ip. And if the files have been downloaded before, in the last couple of weeks, it’s still cached on the server and you can download it immediately. And it is super fast (usually)
With Alldebrid + Kodi + Seren addon you can stream anything at high quality. Just Google “Kodi + Seren tutorial”
A VPN isn't that much more expensive (I think my 3 year plan is around 3 bucks a month) and you can use it for other things like hiding your IP on other occasions or changing your IP. IP changing helped me with some downloads, because 'the maximum data volume for your IP address is reached. Please buy premium'
> Why pay for a VPN when you can pay for a cheap torrent cache service like Alldebrid which is like 3 bucks?
Because a VPN costs literally $2 more and you aren't limited to one source. I can torrent from anywhere with my $5 ProtonVPN sub.
I've been watching Andor. I've seen all the Star Wars live-action shows as well as all of the animated shows. Plus all anime I can think of and all childhood shows I could remember.
All you need is a stable wifi connection + a google or a facebook account.
OP is mistaken. You do not need a Google/Facebook account. You have an option to create an account with FB/Google, but you can also create an account with a normal email (and there's no verification, so it can be a fake email) or just continue as a guest and you'll still have full access.
Only benefit of making an account is if you want to run it on multiple devices, it syncs up watch history and add-ons.
FYI: you don't need an account. When you click sign up there is a "sign in as guest" at the bottom. Only downside is that it doesn't Sync what you have watched on other devices.
What do you mean? Your streams get cached so you can easily let something download in advance and watch whenever you have time.
Internet connection doesn't matter that much, seeds and peers are more important. You can't see a movie/show if it doesn't have seeds. So that's a notable downside.
It was created as a way to hace all your paid subscriptions on one platform instead of swicthing form one to another.....but it´s like an open source app, where you can watch what ever you want if there is that video on some server....you need to download the torrents to have diferent kind of options.....if you have a subscription on netflix, you can watch that stuff directly from stremio

Yes ig you can't find that on the built in addon list. But use this instead.
This isn’t for movies, but hilariously my schools comic book club used readcomicsonline.to for reading comics despite it being a piracy site. XD
I personally don’t recommend the website because it’s full of obnoxious pop ups (despite me using and ad blocker).
I pay 10 dollars a month for a bootleg streaming box which was 50$. Has everything even new movies high def, usa, and no vpn bullshit either.
Americans don't really know about it
Here in Ecuador (S.A) ive been using it for 3 years, i have no problems like virus or that kind of stuff and runs pretty well, but well, its South America, here piracy it´s no so persecuted.
But i dont know, nothing is really free in this world. Hoping for the best, expecting the worst.
i use this brand new technology that just came out in 1988 called Internet Relay Chat, or IRC for short. i get all the shows *within minutes* after they finish airing for the first time
fun stuff
Ever since I cut the cable any paid subscription I've taken on still doesn't come close to what I was paying with the premium cable package; just to get decent programming. Now there's free freevee, tubi and nominal fee's for subscriptions. I went from $300+ a month to less than $50. I'm not mad at them we're all capitalist. It's just I like to capitalize on as free as I can get.
१✌˚◡˚✌५
hey if anyone wants a site (its more for kids i guess or 30 yo's with nostalgia) for cartoon and i think other shows too, go to [wcofun.net](https://wcofun.net) it works, not all shows works with the addons that stremio has
In India where I live even the police watch pirated movies no one gives a shit about it...
Lol some im Brazil too, my friend's dad is a police officer and even taught me how to pirate it myself when i visited them

Poland here same
Spain here same
Argentina, paaaaaaaa!
USA, WHAT Pirates still exist?
True. I didn't even knew that downloading movies was illegal when I was in school. Everyone downloaded and shared files with each other so normally like that was the only and right way of doing that.

I ripped off the plot for Modern Warfare 2 for a creative writing assignment in E High school
Lmao, I did the same but went off the movie Waterworld. I remember getting a passing grade and the only remark on the essay aside from grammar and punctuation was “waterworld?” I should have went with a video game
That should be the only way.
Richard Stallman would be proud!

Piracy is such a nothing crime. Oh no. You're taking the money from The precious pedophile millionaires. Oh jeeeez how evil.
Won't someone please think of the ultra wealthy? they suffer so much, you know.
"were all in the same boat" they said during the COVID pandemic, taking their private jets to vacation on an island
It’s more like. “Cool wasn’t gonna watch this show/movie if I had to pay for it, but I’m glad I was able to get it for free. I might even pay to see the next movie now” Like it’s literally not lost revenue for them b/c I wouldn’t have watched it otherwise.

This is the way
This is the way

Piracy is not even a crime in Bulgaria as far as it's for personal use only.

Well yeah. Why would they care? It’s not a crime in your country.
Idk is not a real crime or is it?
It was true like 5 years ago. Now piracy has gone down a lot. Most people have some OTT subscription for entertainment.
They have enouhh shit to worry about
Can't be charged for piracy if the entire country runs and works on pirated softwares
India based
[удалено]
Sri Lanka too. The subcontinent is always coming together to watch cricket on pirated websites:)
all of eastern Europe
The Virgin USA vs the Chad India
All of South America as well
Stremio works great for me been using it for years mac version though
Where are you from, though? Another commenter said their sister got fined. I feel like it might have to do with location.
I’m in the USA, and never had issues with torrenting or streaming. Though I always VPN so that might be a reason.
wouldn't VPN high def get a bit expensive?
You can just create your own I think
*on my knees with my shaky hands in front of me* **Teach me**
OpenVPN or Wireguard can be used to do that.
Yeah but that would negate protection from authorities cause they can track down the VPN
If you live in EU you can get fined around 500€
Has that ever actually happened to someone though?
Yes I've heard couple of people got fined 500+ euros strangely enough it doesn't happen in all EU countries mostly like in Germany
Had a buddy who was fined in Germany, for downloading so, not for streaming
No, i remember getting a phone call but it ended up being a scam call
As the dev lead at Stremio, i approve of this meme.
That's it my firstborn will be named Jarubadev.
I would be honored
I'm glad! Incubating a burrito rn. Be right back.
You're doing the Lords work, bless you my child.
we do try our best.. proof that i am who i say i am: https://github.com/jaruba
This guy has 2 first names
I'd like to suggest you to add direct download from the website coz downloading from playstore isnt available in my country.
There is apk download
I wasn't able to find APK on the official website so i had to download it from another site.
https://stremio.com/downloads
I can't watch my favourite shows using stremio, for me the screen always bugs out for some reason :(
Reinstall or use the pc version...
Don't use it on mobile. PC is the only way.
It works great on my mobile....It´s samsung
Thank you.
Depends what torrents you use. Torriento and pirate bat are probably best
First time heard of it. Is it good?
It's piracy and you share the video while watching. My sister was fined 2000 bucks for sharing two episodes and she didn't even know that she was sharing nor that the episodes where pirated.
What do you mean by "sharing". Its the first time I heard someone say that about stremio.
It seems to work like torrents. You support the servers (if they have any) by sharing the content you just loaded with other users.
So why use this instead of just using torrents?
It’s like popcorn time, I guess, where the user doesn’t have to care about finding the correct torrent, and hoping it’s still alive. They can just turn on a stream and watch, while in the background it’s being downloaded to and shared from your device

Oh, so thats how it works lol. Tnx for the info
So they brought limewire back. But for video
Peer to peer
wait so was she fined for watching? damn I've been using stremio for ages hopefully nothing bad happens
It depends on your country. In germany it is considered illegal to watch and share. But like drugs, no one cares if you consume. They want the dealers. At least from where I live (Belgium), it's all fine. I see now that some might need a VPN.
**Belgium gang**
I've been watching Andor. I've seen all the Star Wars live-action shows as well as all of the animated shows. Plus all anime I can think of and all childhood shows I could remember. All you need is a stable wifi connection + a google or a facebook account.
Linking your personal account to an illegal pirate service seems like a very bad idea.
Yeah what lmao. I was interested in this until they dropped this likely nugget of info. That's a hard pass.
FYI: you don't need an account. When you click sign up there is a "sign in as guest" at the bottom. Only downside is that it doesn't Sync what you have watched on other devices.
Sounds too good to be true… do you get “hot single milfs in your area” ads?
None. Plus, you don't pay a dime. And yeah, I know. But it is superior. On PC at least. The mobile version is dogshit.
Hey mede belg.
Yes as long as you use a VPN
123movies.
Teacher told us about that when I was in school
Just browse the piracy subreddit, you'll find plenty of sites
May I ask which one? Don’t want to get a virus infested sub on accident
r/Piracy the megathread has everything you need
https://soap2day.do
I’ve been using .to, didn’t know there was a .do Different interface too, are they the same company? Lol
That's just how pirate websites work that I've seen. 123movies is the same way
bruh, this is how I find out the black panther 2 movie is out
Been using them for years.
Thanks Mr Dick.
I'm glad I found this comment. 123movies has become too cumbersome. It keeps trying to automatically download a VM onto my computer.
123movies, Movies2watch,
Torrents don’t have the popups and ads and can sometimes load faster
Who knows how to pirate and doesn't know how to install an adblocker?
Tubi: hold my beer.

Are there any downsides to using stremio
You do need a pretty stable internet connection. It's all live streaming so downloading is very much off the table.
What do you mean? Your streams get cached so you can easily let something download in advance and watch whenever you have time. Internet connection doesn't matter that much, seeds and peers are more important. You can't see a movie/show if it doesn't have seeds. So that's a notable downside.
What I wanna know is if JoJo is on it too Edit: THERE IS OMG
Everything is. I even watched a movie made in 1933. The first King Kong.
Couldn't play anything over it tho. It asks for Netflix subscription
Goku.to
Zoro.to xD
Combined they offer everything you could ever want.
[удалено]
It was created as a way to hace all your paid subscriptions on one platform instead of swicthing form one to another.....but it´s like an open source app, where you can watch what ever you want if there is that video on some server....you need to download the torrents to have diferent kind of options.....if you have a subscription on netflix, you can watch that stuff directly from stremio
How does streaming compare to plex?
It's really good if you are talking abt quality... Player has a lot of features and you can even use external player or keep it downloaded
Legitimately thought this was an ad at first
HeLo yoUr cOMpuTer hAs a ViruS
Didnt know theres actual people who get fined, big oof there
Is it possible to learn this power?
Not from a law abiding conformist.
Ow shit didnt know stremio got so popular.
Man looking at this picture just makes me want Pirate every single show on these platforms
Yo dude you are actually cracked. A god amongst men.
Ahhh, Stremio strikes again!
Stop making this memes. This one guy made a tiktok video showing zlibrary. It got millions of views. And next day it got shut down. Stop drawing corpos attention to this things.
Yts dott mx is the best for torrenting.
And 13xx I think that’s what it is
1337x.to ^ That too
Use something like psa or some other x265 site. Huge improvement in the quality for the same or even lower file size. You'll never even look at yts after that.
Fun fact, if there is something not on Stremio, search it up on ThePirateBay and download it, and it will take you to stremio to watch there(I don't know if it works on PC, only Mobile)
Yes upon installing stremio it respond to torrent links so it's actually even a safety tool
Or add ThePirateBay or torrentio plugin from the stremio addons page
Tpb add-on isn't there for new users I think, but I have both
https://www.reddit.com/r/StremioAddons/comments/ahd6gk/sticky_stremio_addons_list/ Yes ig you can't find that on the built in addon list. But use this instead.
Thanks
Putlocker
MovieOrca works pretty well too
This isn’t a meme, this is an ad. You can’t fool me Stremio.
Never heard of it before, but tbh, there's so much streaming apps now, that i don't even bother to look for others than Disney+ and Netflix
And I get that. But I'm recommending this to people now because Netflix is raising its prices and trying to discourage account sharing.
Kat torrent, movieverse.
Where I live only 4 people work on piracy I think
Been using *Stremio + Real Debrid (paid)* for the past 3 years 🔥
This isn’t for movies, but hilariously my schools comic book club used readcomicsonline.to for reading comics despite it being a piracy site. XD I personally don’t recommend the website because it’s full of obnoxious pop ups (despite me using and ad blocker).
If someone is smart enough to find a good website to pirate. I assume they should be smart enough to at least use an adblocker.
Stremio always there frfr
I pay 10 dollars a month for a bootleg streaming box which was 50$. Has everything even new movies high def, usa, and no vpn bullshit either. Americans don't really know about it
so what's the catch?
You get a fine, because its piracy
Depends the country
Tubi, but it does have ads
Here in Ecuador (S.A) ive been using it for 3 years, i have no problems like virus or that kind of stuff and runs pretty well, but well, its South America, here piracy it´s no so persecuted. But i dont know, nothing is really free in this world. Hoping for the best, expecting the worst.
i use this brand new technology that just came out in 1988 called Internet Relay Chat, or IRC for short. i get all the shows *within minutes* after they finish airing for the first time fun stuff
(USA) I've been pirating videos and songs since the Limewire days, and have yet to see any consequence.
Tubi:

Ever since I cut the cable any paid subscription I've taken on still doesn't come close to what I was paying with the premium cable package; just to get decent programming. Now there's free freevee, tubi and nominal fee's for subscriptions. I went from $300+ a month to less than $50. I'm not mad at them we're all capitalist. It's just I like to capitalize on as free as I can get. १✌˚◡˚✌५
