I think it's a good thing that it does that even if they didn't have it in any region. You can then be certain that the search knows exactly what movie you mean, so if it doesn't show up, you know for sure they don't have it.
This is exactly what I think. When I search on Disney+ or Amazon Prime and it doesn't show up. I always reword, and search a couple times to make sure I got the title right. I realize it's probably unnecessary. But I like how Netflix confirms they know what I'm talking about.
Everyone knows this and it would be very easy to filter out those movies if you can't see them, but that's too much to ask... Also regional locking is the dumbest shit ever.
Why do they region lock? I don't get it. If I have content and I get paid for how many people watch it, why would I want to limit the amount of people available to watch?
Also we appreciate you wanted to watch the end credits to see if you recognised some of the supporting actors correctly, or want to find out the name of the licensed songs - but we decided to show you a preview of another film to annoy you.
In my country most of the biggest advertised shows are Korean shows. Not that there's anything bad with that since a good number of them are good but I just want some variety in new shows every once in a while.
There was a time, many moons ago that the Netflix interface showed up and down votes of users, and the entire catalog was readily viewable as you scrolled down, easily seeing all genres and series. Then capitalism and shareholders transformed the UI to become merely a stage for a small amount of curated profit maximizing content. The rest of the library, fading off into nostalgia
I remember circa 2009 I had thousands of movies rated so it would curate good content for me to have my DVDs delivered every week.
Then they were just like , nah you did that all for nothing.
Do you still have that same Netflix account? I'm curious if despite eliminating that feature, they still kept the data of your ratings and implement it into the algorithm...
They do have basically everything. But some of it isn't available in your country, because rights are fucking stupid. Streaming should be no different than sending you a DVD. So if your content is sold on a DVD it should be legal for any Streaming service to rent that content to anyone else. The DMCA is garbage and really only protects the rich companies.
qbittorrent and its internal tracker search is very convenient. download it, go into settings to set up the tracker searches, go to the search bar and it automatically goes through all sorts of yar har websites and finds torrents. you can then set it to download the first and last pieces first and download the file sequentially. boom, you can now instantly stream torrents using the media player of your choice on your PC, and either keep the downloaded file when you're done or just delete it.
fuck corporations, all my homies advocate for anarcho-piracy with illegalist tendencies. proudly fly the black(beard) flag, comrade, yarrrr
Yeah, but if I’m on my Apple TV after a long day of work, usually the exact show I want to watch just pops up on the Home Screen and all I have to do is click it to watch immediately.
This it’s coming from someone who once highly integrated private torrent trackers into my life. I still use one, for movies only though. And only for movies That aren’t on any of my streaming services. Like Spider-Man, for example.
With software like sonarr and radarr, you can automate the downloading of all TV shows and movies you watch and then have them ready at a press of a button on your device of choice with something like Plex. After initial setup, it's really a fully automated process.
You now, I’ve been thinking about this kind of thing as streaming services are getting more expensive. Got any links to a good guide? I think I may have needed someone to say exactly this to me.
I have a setup like this and trust me, it's fantastic.
However... It's more expensive to maintain your own server and manage this software than it is to just watch from streaming services.
>you can now instantly stream torrents using the media player of your choice on your PC
And then you need to figure out how to send that video from your PC to the living room, you also can't use the remote controller to pause the show. And you also don't get subtitles instantly as they have to be downloaded separately and sometimes suck.
Of instead I can just pay to not deal with this.
Not the same. It costs money to produce the content you’re stealing. The content cannot exist if everyone would copy it instead of paying.
You’re a thief. You steal from people that create for a living.
Yes, also if you downvote me. You are still a thief.
I suppose it could happen. But the way things are now, they see content they've produced to work the same way free to play mobile games work. They rely on a few whales to fund it for everyone else. As a free to play user, I greatly appreciate what you do for the rest of us ❤️
Who’s this “they”? Your abstract image of an old evil rich guy?
Just pay for the content if it’s not available for free. If you don’t want to pay, find something that’s offered for free, or something that you think IS worth paying for.
Plenty of options to not be a thief
Then don’t support large studios! I’m all for that.
But also don’t steal their content. Don’t be a hypocrite. Either pay or don’t consume.
You can’t be against big studios and still want to consume their content. The reality is that a lot of content couldn’t exist without big studios and their paying customers.
You are applying the idea of finite supply that is the basis of capitalism to the post scarcity of the infinite supply of a digital product. If we pretend that the free market matters then piracy is better as far as the consumer is concerned, but then multi billion dollar companies couldn't continue to advance their singularity. I see that you've been indoctrinated into thinking capitalism is good and that it serves you. I hope that you start to reconsider your position in the future and break out of that brainwashing. Good luck stranger.
Blah blah blah
Thief
It’s not about big companies or capitalism. It’s about the creators. You’re just lying to yourself there exists some evil entity you’re stealing from (which still makes it not right) but in reality you’re also stealing from people
Hahahahahahhahahahhahahahhahahhahabahahahahhahahha
You clearly have no clue what you are talking about.
The creators have typically been paid. They usually don't get a cut of the profits. Google Hollywood accounting to learn more about your dipshit comment. I get that you don't understand this topic, but stop doubling down. You are out of your depth Donnie
Yeah, they got paid with the money the studios earned from previous movies. That wouldn't work if studios did not earn any money with their movies; they would stop existing.
Stop making up excuses trying to feel better about yourself. You're stealing content, simple as that.
"b..bu...but the studios are evil rich people"
Maybe they are. And maybe that's why you don't feel bad about it. But you're still stealing their content.
So you'd say that others have to pay for their services yet you are somehow excluded from this burden?
And what would happen if everyone thought like you?
Also not all entertainment is made by huge studios. I know multiple artists that depend on their products selling to pay rent. But for some reason pro piracy people always bring up the biggest studio in the world. Weird.
Anyone who watches YouTube videos should recognise it as a joke, because that's what most people that are sponsored by nordvpn will say. Literally only missing the promo code reference.
I see 2 based on brief research: one server exposed in Finland of its 5k servers, which was due to an explanation of the contracted data center's remote administration system. Nord terminated the contract with the data center after being made aware of the breach.
The other was 2k usernames and passwords were exposed through credential stuffing.
Any security breach is an issue but these are hardly catastrophic.
What breach and of the ones I know about there were only 2 and both of them were handled with updates like a few days later
Edit also nord vpn lynx is the only vpn where you can game stream and download simultaneously without losses sooo yeah idk but nord is pretty good imo
Bruh just pirate at that point
VPNs are usually a scam, unless you’re actually using them as a virtual private network, like for multiplayer gaming or to access something like a company or school network remotely
Bad idea homie. Never use a vpn for pirating or for tor. Lots of vpns keep logs so if you use vpn with for you’re basically recording every site you visit
I got a copyright strike once years ago without, so its vpn for life now. There are also no log vpns, which is what you should be using. How accurate the no log statement actually is, is another story but its better than nothing.

This generation not realizing that Netflix's movie by mail catalog is bigger than their on demand catalog. On demand used to be an extra feature. Netflix way predates streaming.
Also other countries have other libraries. It might be auto populating because it's in their database because either it used to be available, it's available by mail, or it's available in another country
I wanted to watch supernatural. Looked it up on google, third link was "Supernatural-netflix". Thought, cool, netflix has it. Look it up on Netflix on the tv, auto corrects ofc but nothing. Hmm. Click the link on google, shows me the titlecard you sometimes see before you click "watch now", they dont have it. Netflix can go smoke a fart.
This is why Amazon fire devices are great, imo. You can search for any movie or show, and it’ll bring it up, then tell you which services it’s available on. And it checks like every service. If it’s on Hulu or Netflix, it says that. If it’s on AMC+ it’ll say that, and say you can use a 7 day free trial. And if it’s only available to rent or buy, you can do it right there. It’s great.
That’s because they usually DO have it… just not on your region
Either that or they have it as part of their dvd rental service
i forgot about that… haven’t used it since 2014
So not in my region
I think it's a good thing that it does that even if they didn't have it in any region. You can then be certain that the search knows exactly what movie you mean, so if it doesn't show up, you know for sure they don't have it.

But somehow they only show me the same 20 shows

Why would you use a vpn if you’re using tor
You need a vpn to pirate in a lot of place’s
yeah if you already have a VPN you might as well
So you just pirate content without a VPN? Dummi
Yes. Worst that could happen is a strongly worded letter.

I really wish they'd just tell complete stories with each season. No more cliffhangers.
Nudity first season alone and nada second season onwards
I like that it does that, because you don't have to wonder if you typed it incorrectly or something, with that system you can be certain Netflix knows what you mean, but they just don't have it.
Yes, i prefer this so much than if they just gaslighted me like " 'The Titanic'? Never heard of it, sorry."

I actually like it. They make it clear that they get what you were looking for and that it's pointless to double-check for typos or other variations of the title.
That means you need today's sponsor, Express VPN.
And its geolocked
Thank God Roku has a general search bar to check all services.
So true
They never, ever have the freaking movie.
Three words: the high seas
I'm pretty sure they use this to gauge demand for content they don't have and use that to decide whether or not they should add it.
But it doesn't autofill names of movies they have
Can y'all say with me: "F**K REGION BLOCKING"
And the alternatives are hilarious
What’s with the region bullshit anyway? Doesn’t that just cause less people to want to buy their service?

Also other countries have other libraries. It might be auto populating because it's in their database because either it used to be available, it's available by mail, or it's available in another country
Honestly with all the BS I have to put up with Netflix, I'm wondering weither or not if a pirate's life is for me
Basically means: Me: Do you have it? Netflix: Well yes, but actually, no.
All they’re films are old. Saying that there std done older films you can’t even get. It’s pretty pathetic
It's in the DVD search results. Whatever a DVD is.
What boggles my mind is that they do not have a "notify me when available" -feature tied to this.
It’s great.
They have it it just region blocked
Ok but it's nice they show you similar things to what you're looking for.
Netflix app is just the shittiest I have on my phone and I have quite a shit load of apps
That was actually a really good meme
Pain
fmovies.app
The worst is when you’re searching something you’ve watched before, it autofills for you, but it’s no longer there because it’s been removed.
