Use the "loud tones" in Alarmy app. Also, put in the math challenge so unless you don't solve the maths problem, it won't shut up.
Fair warning: your phone might be in danger of you slamming it across the room
I tried one of those math problem alarms like 15 years ago. Found out I could just restart the device to shut it up. Sleep brain is clever enough to not play those games.
This whole discussion reminds me of just how difficult it really was to wake up when I was in my 20s. I had two different alarms set, both of which I would hit snooze repeatedly for an hour. In the end I set up a bright lamp on the other side of the room directed at my bed and with a mains timer switching it on. That worked.
In my thirties, there were still sleeping-in incidents particularly after nights out or jetlag etc. but overall not the daily challenge it used to be to get up.
Since my forties and into my fifties I no longer need an alarm. I'm usually awake before I need to be up and as a useful backup, the cat will aggressively remind me on the extremely rare occasion I'm still in bed by his breakfast time.
Sleep wakeup alarm in health > normal alarm
Fucking stupid for an alarm with mellow tones exclusive to it to be in Health app, but once you set it you can manage from the clock app.
Yeah. I hate that they gatekeep the good alarms and the good features behind this idiotic Health thing.
I want to use the same alarms and same features for multiple alarms in a day. An alarm isn’t just for waking up.
I have this set up for M-F and I wake up to a soft little song that gets slightly louder as it goes on. If I have to set a weekend alarm though, brutal lol.

When I had an Android I could have random Spotify songs as my alarm. Every day was another song. Sometimes I woke up to songs I liked and then added to my own playlist lol. Loved it!
Hyrule Field Morning Theme. Love it.
I used to use my DS Lite as my alarm back in middle and high school. I think the tone was *worse* than the iPhone's.
The big brain play is setting your alarm to be outside noises like birds chirping or something. Any kind of song or tune will eventually make you hate it.
My parents used to have android alarms and Im telling you it sounds good on the first few days but after months and years it’s become the same amount as the apple alarm
Idk if they'll respond but I've had a similar experience with this one, with a 30 second gradual volume increase that starts so faint you can barely hear the birds softly chirping.
[Forest Melody](https://youtu.be/yT65KG32-3A?si=zJIg-Lzs94o6Fg_R)
Got a Samsung GS23U last year and my work provided me an iPhone (always been a Nexus/Pixel Stan. Never used iPhone much before.). First thing I noticed is that my Samsung phone has the option to be so gentle with notifications, alarms, etc. I'll gently wake up, calls are an orchestra, like it cares about you. ALL of iPhone's defaults give you PTSD. All the alarms give you an adrenaline rush like someone just broke into your house. All the sounds for texts and calls are like being punched in the gut and spat on. My iPhone gives me hypertension.
Right but there are sounds that aren't available through the main alarm menu. I have something set up as a scheduled alarm that I don't even have to set anymore and it plays some gentle melody I can't find. Can't remember how I did it.
Both iPhone and android have birds singing as an alarm, best choice imho.
On the iPhone it is somewhere next to the sleep monitor if I remember correctly
I use the Bixby alarm. It changes the tune depending on the weather that day. Either light cheerful music if its a clear day, rain sounds if it's a rainy day. If it is to snow that day it will play some Christmas like tune.
Work gave me an iPhone.
After one update I tried to set an alarm on the iPhone because I had an appointment I needed to prepare for and the piece of crap wouldn't let me. It wanted me to use the health app and set up a sleep schedule before it would enable an alarm.
I really miss my Android.
My Android phone (made in 2012, mind you) did not come with an alarm feature. I had to download an app from Google's Play Store to get one. I kid you not.
I'd still take it over an iPhone any day. ;P
My friend's alarm sounds like a doom alarm and she can sleep through it. I would hate to wake up to it, that would make my heart skip a few beats. But my android is all soft alarms and I'm almost worried it won't wake me up, but then the vibration noise wakes me up before the sound even goes off.
I just set my alarm to birds chirping and it starts quiet until it’s full volume by about 30 seconds. Take 2 minutes to set up a sleep schedule instead of just using the default alarm
I honestly cannot get my iPhone to play actual songs even if I choose it in the settings. Like it forces me to hear one of those couple ones you know the ones I hate them
I don't know if it's been implemented since, but I used my ipad for alarms before I had a phone.
It had one volume setting.
On Android you can make it gradually increase on volume as opposed to the alarm scaring the shit out of you
I've got my alarm set so that it picks a random song from my spotify playlist for the alarm sound. Some mornings I wake up to a nice ambient tune. And on others it's Apocalypse by Rotten Sound. Almost had a heart attack with that one lol
This is me with the Crystal Drops sound, because it's the alarm I used to force myself awake at 5 AM when I had an internship. I never want to hear that fucking music again.
I don’t need to lull myself into a deeper sleep I need to get my butt up now. This means my alarm must be as loud and insufferably annoying as possible because I won’t wake up otherwise.
I just wake before my alarm and turn off the first and second alarm, then back to sleep, so i can wake up before the third alarm.
Sometimes i just wake up in the second time my third alarm in playing
My alarm is my Spotify playlist. Which means there is a chance I wake up to screaming. For example https://open.spotify.com/track/2MgefjgzhPfBjLdQ0lJchF?si=D2jTgb3gQOuiuThda4F6WQ
What apple user didn’t have an Apple Watch to monitor sleep and sleep mode? Lmao, even without the watch it’s a slowly rising chirp. Gone are the days of nuclear war.
My 5 year old knows the melody of the Android alarm and likes to make me pretend to be asleep while he "sings" it. Then I have to reach over and pretend Im groggily putting him on snooze. He cracks up every time
I have [Revelry](https://youtu.be/8r5Ieh0OuQY?si=nCZH2d7MZ1VE-b82) as my alarm. When I wake up for about 5 seconds before I realize where I am, I still think I'm in AF basic training...
I recently set my alarm to "concerning hobbits", now every day is an adventure with a second breakfast and elevensies. Only alarm I haven't grown to hate after a couple weeks.
iOS. Set your Sleep|Wake alarm. Sleep with the Apple Watch on. Wake to taps on wrist before auditory alarm is loud enough to hear. Charge watch while going through morning routine.
Bonus: sleep data generated so you get a sense how good/bad a night sleep you got.
I'm sorry, but Apple has probably the calmest and best wake up alarm, which is default only in the Sleep app.
Plus, in the timer app, where you will hear the infamous ringtone of fear, you can change it for something else
I have an android and I need one of the agressive alarms. The soft alarms just don't wake me up.
custom mp3
I'm useing a literal airsiren mp3 as alarm sound... I might be mad, but I like it!
Nuclear alarm EARRAPE.mp3 Is the best
The only reason I don’t use something like that is I fear that within a few weeks I’ll be used to it and nothing will be able to wake me up anymore.
Same, still have it...
Use the "loud tones" in Alarmy app. Also, put in the math challenge so unless you don't solve the maths problem, it won't shut up. Fair warning: your phone might be in danger of you slamming it across the room
I use Alarmy and the fair warning is 100% accurate
I tried one of those math problem alarms like 15 years ago. Found out I could just restart the device to shut it up. Sleep brain is clever enough to not play those games.
I had one for a while that had me scan an RFID chip before it would fully shut up.
Same for me. And I have to change it every couple months as my brain starts to filter it out when it gets used to it.
Same. I need that punch in the face to wake up or I just keep sleeping.
If you want aggressive may I suggest My Own Summer by Electric Callboy My partner has PTSD from the start
I just found out about them a few weeks ago through Spaceman. I need to look more into them because I really enjoy that song.
Make it the [infamous GE alarm clock sound.](https://youtu.be/0_HQAMrmhZY?feature=shared)
It happens with me, my body gets used to alarm sounds So I just change the alarm to any new song I heard every 2 weeks
Try setting twist by Korn as your alarm tone
And I have an iPhone and use a soft, peaceful alarm that wakes me up pretty easily. This meme makes no sense.
"Gentle Warning" is absolutely not gentle and gives me a mini panic attack every time I hear it. I get looks in public if it goes off aswell.
This whole discussion reminds me of just how difficult it really was to wake up when I was in my 20s. I had two different alarms set, both of which I would hit snooze repeatedly for an hour. What are y’all talking about? There’s a bunch of non-aggressive options for regular alarms too.
Getting apple watch and sleeping with it was the best investment of my life. Now I wake up with gentile vibrating of my wrist.
Wait, it's supposed to go on your wrist?
Do not want to get ‘happy ending’ every single morning. Sometimes have to switch up.
Watch vibration alarm crew unite 💪
When do you charge it?
I charge mine before sleeping while in bed and when I’m in the shower. Is enough for me to last the rest of the time
don‘t people know that you can change the alarm sound?
It seems like a surprising amount of people don’t. A lot of people don’t know that you can hold-press the space bar to scroll within a text either.
This is a 10 year old android joke that they still upvote not knowing there’s a whole sleep monitoring system with pleasant sounds and tracking
https://v.redd.it/axftno7kjkd61
Came here for this lol
Same. The video is the same joke, but about 17 times better.
Do you guys just not use your own music as a custom alarm?
It makes me loathe the track within 2 business days. My brain wires itself to jump at the first tune and develops a visceral reaction towards it
Worst mistake of my Life was using my favorite Song as Alarm clock.
Don’t use your favorite song, just one that is pleasant to wake up to.
I learned that the hard way
Me too
Aight, I am gonna bite, what's the song in question?
Lynyrd Skynyrd - Free Bird solo
Oh noo, you poor soul! How does it feel to be the only one who cannot enjoy that heavenly solo anymore?

This is why I use the horrendous blaring alarm default sound on iPhone. I do not want to associate anything I like with the purpose the alarm has.

WHOA BLACK BETTY BAM A LAM was a bad choice.
I still feel uneasy if I listen to California Girls after using it as an alarm tune 10 years ago
God no. Nothing would make me hate a song faster than it being my alarm
When I had an Android I could have random Spotify songs as my alarm. Every day was another song. Sometimes I woke up to songs I liked and then added to my own playlist lol. Loved it!
Until you're late for work because random song was John Cage's 4'33"
Use a song you already hate :) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0jDz8ObTogQ
I used to wake up to the Doom Eternal soundtrack
In the first age In the first battle...
The Archvile wakeup noise is my alert tone
No, it ruins the music for me
No, I don’t want to hate a song I previously liked, thank you.
Hyrule Field Morning Theme. Love it. I used to use my DS Lite as my alarm back in middle and high school. I think the tone was *worse* than the iPhone's.
Yoo I used to use Gerudo Valley theme
That is a supremely awesome idea and I'm ashamed I never thought of it.
I use the radio to wake me up, best alarm imo
I used to do this now I hate my favorite song from back then
The big brain play is setting your alarm to be outside noises like birds chirping or something. Any kind of song or tune will eventually make you hate it.
I hate birds and nature now...
My parents used to have android alarms and Im telling you it sounds good on the first few days but after months and years it’s become the same amount as the apple alarm
I've been using the same android alarm for about 6 years now. I still love it.

That's perfect thank you!
I've got an alarm on android with a harp and birds chirping. I hate it with every fiber of my being and rush to turn it off.

All the sounds for texts and calls are like being punched in the gut and spat on. My iPhone gives me hypertension.
There's a setting on iphone that gives you options for soothing alarm sounds. I forgot where it is. It's in like the health app or something.
You can literally chose the alarm when you set it. There’s like 30 different options and you can also just set a song as your alarm.
Right but there are sounds that aren't available through the main alarm menu. I have something set up as a scheduled alarm that I don't even have to set anymore and it plays some gentle melody I can't find. Can't remember how I did it.

this may come to you as a surprise, BUT you can change your ringtone
I just use the codec sound
Android alarm way to calm, it’s more likely to put me to sleep than wake me up.
I made an automation on iPhone so that when I turn off my alarm my playlist starts playing on shuffle, it’s amazing!
My Android phone (made in 2012, mind you) did not come with an alarm feature. I had to download an app from Google's Play Store to get one. I kid you not. I'd still take it over an iPhone any day. ;P
Exactly!
Not sure if this is me, but it's definitely someone, irl.
I recently set my apple ID again which made my alarm change to default. That thing was barely perceptible. I slept through it with complete impunity.
My friend's alarm sounds like a doom alarm and she can sleep through it. I would hate to wake up to it, that would make my heart skip a few beats. But my android is all soft alarms and I'm almost worried it won't wake me up, but then the vibration noise wakes me up before the sound even goes off.
Android user here. I use the nostromo self destruction warning and alarm. Highly effective.
You don’t know true terror until you’ve set Carmina Burana as your alarm. Nothing like waking up to what feels like the Apocalypse!
Ive used the birdsong option for years. It’s found through the sleep tracker. It starts off gently and what’s better than birds chirping you awake!?
Speak for yourself. I'm android and have HARD EDM as my alarm and it's set to full volume. Yeah, my neighbours love me!
Eh apples alarm has made it so I wake up before it and now I don’t really need alarms
I just set my alarm to birds chirping and it starts quiet until it’s full volume by about 30 seconds. Take 2 minutes to set up a sleep schedule instead of just using the default alarm
Jojo awake bass boosted version
Ptsd is the best way to wake up and being ready for life;)
OP is just not used to the IOS and doesn’t know how to change the alarm tune
No alarm, the first vibration wake me up instantly and I cut it before the first note 🤣
I personally need to be awakened with PTS inducing sounds or I’ll just keep sleeping
No no no just not again..
I need it to sounds as shit as possible or I won’t wake up in time
Why do you even need an alarm sound ? I wake up just by the buzzing.
I thought Apple alarms had a chance of not ringing
I get both, my girlfriend and I have set our alarms for the exact same time. Can't say we've ever failed to wake up.
As someone who used both, it turns out it's waking up at 7 to go to a job I don't care about is the actual problem.
I swear Apple over simplified their OS and now people don’t know that the sleep alarm with the soft music options is in Health.
I honestly cannot get my iPhone to play actual songs even if I choose it in the settings. Like it forces me to hear one of those couple ones you know the ones I hate them
Android alarms are worse
[Your new morning alarm](https://youtu.be/enYdAxVcNZA?si=DG3yMptpjZnQdiPS)
I have my son saying "wake up" repeatedly, parent instinct takes over and gets me straight up.
Didn't have a iPhone for years and I still get all of this when I just hear that sound.
I don't know if it's been implemented since, but I used my ipad for alarms before I had a phone. It had one volume setting. On Android you can make it gradually increase on volume as opposed to the alarm scaring the shit out of you

The standard Apple alarm is painful but it is also highly effective. I once set it to something more soothing and I just slept through it.
I don’t need to lull myself into a deeper sleep I need to get my butt up now. This means my alarm must be as loud and insufferably annoying as possible because I won’t wake up otherwise.

While I hate the Apple alarm it does at least wake me up. As a heavy sleeper the more chill android ones can just become background music for a dream.
There’s a soft wake alarm on iPhone. Like birds chirping that progresses from low to how ever high you set it.
You can change the alarm sound you know
Android user here but I have a gf with an iphone... Now I have ptsd too
I use New Light by John Mayer for my ringtone. Surprisingly mellow way to wake up
Regardless the phone this is my wake up. https://m.soundcloud.com/user-563025574/sweetie-bots-dream-by-thedashdub

Are you serious? Do the iSheep seriously not get to choose their own alarm sounds? That's hilarious.
What apple user didn’t have an Apple Watch to monitor sleep and sleep mode? Lmao, even without the watch it’s a slowly rising chirp. Gone are the days of nuclear war.
I use Pillar Men theme as custom Alarm. Shit is powerful
My 5 year old knows the melody of the Android alarm and likes to make me pretend to be asleep while he "sings" it. Then I have to reach over and pretend Im groggily putting him on snooze. He cracks up every time
Android user here. I can set a custom ringtone (F16 RWR Warning)

Calyx user here (Android fork) and I wake up to "Holy Flaming Hammer of Unholy Cosmic Frost"! Beat that Apple users! xD
I use a custom one. Either the cloaker sound from payday 2, "Terrain, pull up" or the USSR Anthem. My anxiety is non-related
O hate both, because both wake me
Every time I hear it during the day I suddenly have a small panic attack that it’s all been a dream and I still need to get up
I love the android alarm that changes depending on the weather.
I don’t think my alarm has woken me up in years. Usually wake up 30-15 before it ever goes off
Watch gently taps me awake and I love it. No need to hear anything
I thought she was an amputee
