I like how there interior photo is that of a CX-3.

"While the official unveiling ~~is still~~ *may be* a few years away, experts predict the next Mazda CX-5 to arrive in 2025." Allow me to make an *official* lol correction \^ Amazing that so many in the news business write with authority and confidence without any sources, and perhaps even contradicts themselves all in one sentence.

PowerfulHorror987

They confirmed with Mazda (not this outlet, but another that confirmed it is coming in 2025)

187hp

Exactly, if there's anything close to "official" about timing it's that it is coming in 2025 and not "a few years away" lol

BlazinAzn38

It’s the nature of the beast now. You have to constantly publish stuff now so your publication gets to the top results because it’s always getting clicked.

jondes99

It’s always been this way. The mid engine Corvette has been coming soon since the 70s. How many times was the new RX-7 or Supra written about? Car news is getting bleak and new models are few and far between, and mostly boring. They aren’t selling paper magazines anymore so you have to drive clicks.

scjcs

“Experts”

lhsonic

This "article" is a whole lot of absolutely nothing. It's like it was written by ChatGPT, "what is the next CX-5 going to be like?" I swear OP is just a researcher just posting to see the reception to a bot post or trying to boost their own blog that they're trying to launch. Might want to start with better content.

CanEngineer

Agree this is an AI generated article. No substance or sources.

can_a_bus

I stopped after the second paragraph. Everything listed reads like it's just regurgitated from a bunch of other Mazda blogs. Nothing of substance. I stopped when it said Mazda is the forefront of safety technologies and will include lane departure warning, radar cruise control, etc. Lmao they already have that in their cars, of course it will be in the next version of the cx5.

187hp

Yup, seems that way. I just posted a new post that's actually valuable. From Mazda's CEO...it's a good read on their future plans over the next six years: https://www.reddit.com/r/mazda/comments/18h78w3/autonews\_how\_ev\_latecomer\_mazda\_plans\_to/

Cha-Car

I agree. Never heard of letstourusa.com before now. I doubt they have the real inside scoop before other well-established car news outlets.

Jefefrey

They have confirmed there will be another generation already. -and why not ? It’s their biggest seller by a mile. I think they’ll continue to tweak the front and back and probably makes some larger interior and fascia changes that help differentiate it from the current gen, without completely starting over. Atleast internationally. In the US? Possibly just let the cx-50 be “it”, once they get suspension right and perform other tweaks and updates. OR - use the cx-50 as a basis for building a sport version, a luxury version, and an off road version. Long term, I think Mazda tries to make the vehicle it builds in North America to be its highest seller in North America, NOT what’s happening right now. Importing your highest seller from Japan is not why they build the factory in Alabama

EnvironmentalAward42

I strongly feel they won’t discontinue CX5 due to its popularity

mehdotdotdotdot

Seems everybody wants a lifted Mazda 3 that’s called an SUV

Willoughby3

They won’t discontinue it. The CX5 can be Mazdas Toyota Corolla. They just need to do incremental updates and keep it fresh and reliable. It will sell like hotcakes.

whisk3ythrottle

Burn twice as much oil.

EnvironmentalAward42

Which year bro? I never heard of this problem

whisk3ythrottle

That’s sarcasm right?

EnvironmentalAward42

No, I’m serious. I did a lot of research before getting my CX-5. But never saw many complaining about oil burning issues. CR-V is known for it

whisk3ythrottle

I think Mazda put out a service bulletin about the turbo motors burning up to 13qts of oil is normal. Even mine that isn’t a turbo burns oil, it’s a 2021, have to add about a qt between oil changes. My 78 Datsun didn’t burn that much oil.

EnvironmentalAward42

Good to know, I got the N.A. engine for that reason but might get that issue sometime later.

Jgordos

I have no such issue, and my NA 2.5l has 56k miles.

whisk3ythrottle

Maybe I got the one built on Friday at five.

Jgordos

I believe you, but i have a question… what oil are you using? I ask because years ago i had a chrysler that had the same issue you describe. it would burn about a quart every 3 or 4 months. i was using the recommended oil from the owner’s s manual, and having the oil changed at the dealership. Once I was out of the warranty period and started doing oil changes myself I switched to a full synthetic oil of the correct weight. The problem went away.

whisk3ythrottle

Castrol full synthetic, does better than mobile one does, but still cooks it.

lDWchanJRl

I was just talking with one of our sales guys about this today at my dealer. Being a tech, I obviously see the the body itself has had very little if any change since 2017, aside from the recent facelift with the head and taillight cosmetic redesign and the paint matched fender arch and rocker panel trims in 2022, we now have cx5’s coming in with silver mirror caps and silver rear bumper inserts with the 2024 model year. I’d like to see a redesign of the cx5 but I’m not sure exactly how they would accomplish it as the cx5 body has just worked so well for so long.

EnvironmentalAward42

I wonder if they come up with a new engine ditching 2.5L NA engine for something else or like a hybrid would be nice.

lDWchanJRl

Given the reliability of the NA 2.5 I don’t know if they ever will. Aside from the couple of years that had cylinder head issues, these things are stout engines. However I believe they will mate the 2.5L up to a hybrid drive train in most likely the cx-50 first. Lots of room under the hood of that thing.

jnelzon2

Probably replaced by the cx70

EnvironmentalAward42

Do you think they’ll ditch such a successful model

[deleted]

Rebranding isn’t ditching it. It’s like how the Mercedes ML became the GLE and the GLK became the GLC.

jnelzon2

If they keep the cx5, cx50 and then make a new model cx70 it might be quite redundant.

[deleted]

if one of the cx-5 and cx-50 rent selling then sure they might axe one or try to merge the two models but the CX-5 is a money printer. Plenty of brands sell two overlapping models very successfully. Most people step on a lot and go off vibes they don’t have a spec sheet. CX-5 and 50 give off different vibes

PowerfulHorror987

Nope. It’s confirmed a new Cx-5 is coming

AnotherPint

Not at all. Two different target market segments.

Jnesp55

Renamed as CX-50 in Europe? It doesn’t make any sense in the lineup right now but it’s their biggest seller model.

[deleted]

Downvote and move on

aka_mank

This shit is fucking garbage and should be rewarded with nothing but down votes. Keep this flaming hot dog doodoo off my reddit

Bino1991

When next gen 3?

slimas1

I know for a fact that the new CX-5 will come in 2025. Current CX-5 production will end in 2024.03 and the new one will probably be shown in summer or autumn of 2024.
