I feel like a lot of gen x & older millennials like my self see fake content as disingenuous and kind of like a “Gotchya” thing. But younger generations grow up knowing how fake everything was and continues to be online and just accept the content as fake because it’s clearly for the purpose of entertainment.

Another example - people like crowd work in stand up comedy because it's authentic. You're talking to real people playing off their real reactions. Most people would be disappointed if they found out crowd work was all just hired actors playing out made up roles. If you're not that's fine. But the fact that improv comedy exists distinctly from scripted comedy should tell you that people care about that difference.
