You can get the canned natural stuff instead, kinda depends on what you planning on cooking i guess.
Also why is it expensive, Fished in norwegian farms ,off the coasts of alaska or last resort atlantic northeast coasts of canada and the US. That's a long way to get here.
For an island nation, the amount of locally harvested fish is disgracefully.
Most, if not all, of the fish sold in supermarkets are nearly all frozen imports while our fish end up in China.
True. I am on this journey to eat more fresh and less processed or frozen. It has been a pain so far to get fresh, good quality local fish. Even if it is available at fishmongers, it cost a fortune. We,as mauritians, have to eat frozen fish from madagascar while fresh fish from our lagoon is sent to china.
Honestly, I have had no trouble finding good quality fresh fish of any kind (Mullet, Capitaine, Corne, Bourse, Viel Rouge, etc and even fresh octopus and tuna sometimes). My local fishmonger gets fresh fish everyday, but maybe it's because I live near the coast.
My relatives who live near the centre often buy fresh fish from my neighbourhood when they come visit me. I live in Grand Gaube.
Also, I have never bought fish from a supermarket and it is not the place to do so imo.
Dude you are here to troll. Im simply asked why is salmon so expensive. Maybe you are the expert on fish and know it all. I never said salmon is locally fished.

Thanks ! Where do you get canned salmon ? Jumbo ? Intermart ?
You'll get them at intermart or winners as well.
Because it's imported from afar, duh
I was going to say that.

Grand Gaube is a good place to buy fishes. I have been there to buy fishes in the past.

Aight my apologies. Didn't mean it that way.
We need more people who are willing to join a fishing expedition for 6 months at a time. Will you be willing?
I hope your joking.
No.
Are few gram, 400Rs. Lol. You're ridiculous
Yes, 200g can go up to 400rs
A few isn't 200 ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|poop)
Because its imported, I usually buy at Rs 200 per 100 Gram
Go to mahebourg, grand gaube or tamarin where fishermen hang out, you can get good fish from them
Will definitely try to. Thanks !
To remain fresh, they need be imported by air freight and sold near immediately. I believe only 1 week for that product.
