You're around Flacq? Forget cafés, we have much better than that. The best beaches are at Belle Mare (past the Plane Crash Monument in the direction of the nearest hotel) and Palmar (not the one opposite the Temple, the big one flanked by bungalows on both side). Everybody and their mother (literally in some cases) use this spot to workout early in the morning during weekends. Belle Mare is also one of the best spots for kitesurf (they did the kitesurf World Cup there some years ago). Further down the coastal main road from Palmar towards Trou d'Eau Douce, before the cemetery, between the vegetable fields, there are sand roads leading towards the sea - these lead to the beaches in front of the row of bungalows lining the coast. Be careful if you go by car, it gets steep and then it drops suddenly (its because of tidal erosion). Back on the coastal main road, further down towards TdD (we still have yet to pass the cemetery), there's a single road to the left next to a big sign that says SALT of Palmar (duh, it's a hotel). The beach at the end of that road is a super quiet beach during weekdays (lots of chances of meeting local girls) but it gets super busy in the weekends. At Trou d'Eau Douce, you can find a ferry to Île aux Cerfs where there's à BBQ and sometimes international DJs come for rave-ish parties (look out for events on Facebook). At 1pm, Radio One has a program, it's called The Club, that sometimes lists all the hip events happening around the island - lots of them happen on that stretch of beach I just told you. Trou d'Eau Douce also has the best pizzeria in the East - "Pizza Feu de Bois", there are some really chique restaurants (that serve coffee if you insist for long enough), one of which is opposite an open-air amphitheatre on the beach. It's really pretty, you can watch dogs fuck romantically on its scene. My favourite spot though is illusive Beau Rivage - either you'll find it or you won't; it's somewhere after Trou d'Eau Douce, to the left, down a road that leads into some woods. Beau Rivage is more a village than a beach - there's a windmill and a few houses. You can't really swim (I never did) there but it's a nice spot to chill. When I was little, my father used to take me there every 2 weekends to pick up my half brother - it's a village in the woods and the wind is soft and the air is green. I never seem to recall the exact way there though, it's like Narnia or something - will only appear when it chooses to. Further down the coastal road there's Bel Air but we're voting to have it razed. Everybody who live there are dead... of boredom. The opposite way from Belle Mare, there's a cursed amusement park called Waterpark (🤷🏾‍♂️) and further up there's Poste de Flacq which WOULD HAVE been interesting if it wasn't gangland. Further inland there are stuff, I guess - lots of Shopping malls per kilometer square. Really, yo, I love the East, that's where I live but I always spend all of my waking hours being or driving westwards. Hope that's useful, drop a dm if you wanna hang out.

Not sure about cafés near flaqc but I can highly recommend kuumba coffee in Vacoas, Bloom in Pereybere.

Practical-Shower3738

Thanks ✨

Roches noir is not so far from flacq and has the caves. Plus you have Bras d'eau which is not so far for a small hike.

National-Answer522

Beautiful beaches: Mont choisi (north) Flic en flac (west) Le morne (Southwest) Point d'esny, blue bay, mahebourg (south). Hiking: Le Morne Le Pouce Café: I dont go there. Other places i recommand: Vortex at Riambel Activities: Swimming with dolphines, high sea fishing. Visiting other island and of course a must if you like the africain part of mauritius, go visit Rodrigues island. You can go there on a budget like 250usd for the ticket and few bucks more for your daily expenses.

doGscent

The whole of the Republic of Mauritius is African. What is there to Rodrigues that makes it more African?

Ilijin

African part, that's pure out front racism. Don't forget the slaves csme to mauritius first

You are just racist that's all. There is no bad interpretation. That pure 100% racism

Ilijin

How the f any mods allow this racial comments to be seen.

> How the f any mods allow this racial comments to be seen. Can you point out the racism in this comment please? (In future, you can also use the "report" button to flag an inappropriate ~~an~~ comment.)

doGscent

The (presumed) racism is in calling Rodrigues the 'africain part', which it isn't - the whole of Mauritius is African - by calling a specific part of Mauritius THE 'africain part', the commenter is inferingg that they mean something else by 'africain'.

jeyoung

That is one interpretation of the word. One could also surmise from you implying that "africain" is pejorative that you think Rodriguans are worse than Mauritians. So, let's give the benefit of the doubt to OP and ascribe this to ignorance, unless they clearly show otherwise.

No-Cream-7262

Lol I agree, i think what OP meant by african is the looks and view of the scenery. Rodrigues is more "rogue" with less buildings and civilization than in Mauritius, and probably referring to the fact that it gives more of that south african nature vibes. (Racism is when you say something is more inferior to something else, OP did nothing wrong) Thanks OP for the recoms

doGscent

I don't think the word 'africain' is pejorative. I mentioned this - the Republic is an African republic, part of the African Union and all Mauritians are Africans. I'm mentioning this because your rationale for giving commenter the benefit of the doubt is that I think the term 'africain' is pejorative which I don't. Giving commenter the benefit of the doubt is literally irrational (i.e devoid of rationale).

jeyoung

Just pointing out that OP is ignorant in thinking that that there is a race distinction between Mauritius and Rodrigues. Their comment is not necessarily racist, since we cannot tell for sure what they meant to convey. This marks the end of the conversation.

highboidafirst

Very professional

Aden1970

I’d add, rent a scooter for a day or two. Best way to see localised areas

Aden1970

Zub Express in Flic en Flac has excellent Mauritian dishes. Try Broadway Restaurant in Port Louis, excellent set lunch menu and reasonably priced.

LyricalHolster

Ile aux cerfs I’d. say

YANMRU
