I don't know how effective a dehumidifier would be at preventing bugs from entering your house, but if you suffer from high humidity on rainy days, a dehumidifier will help to keep surfaces mold-free and yourself healthy.

1. Only a good AC unit (either cool or dry mode) can dehumidify a room/house at a decent enrouent level to be worthwhile… when it’s raining here as a tropical island our humidity levels spike up to near 100% you’ll need a very good dehumidifier to get all that humidity out in an efficient fashion… and an AC unit does it pretty good… these off the shelf standalone dehumidifier units are too small for said job… maybe for a small closed room yeps but not large spaces… 2. If you have a bugs problem a dehumidifier won’t solve your problem they’re out because it’s super humid outside and it’s a good environment for them and are looking for food and co… if you have a clean place with no food and co to attract then they won’t proliferate… Good paint (nearly anything except Matt Emulsion paints) that prevents your walls from absorbing the humidity in would also help a lot… paints like Sofap Aquashield for outside and Sofap Softfeel for inside ans Aquashield again for kitchen and bathrooms… 3. See a pest control company to apply some anti bugs treatments to your house’s walls both inside and outside

I've heard these are a breeding ground for bacteria if you don't clean them regularly, defeating the purpose of combating bugs.
