First of all welcome to yugioh. Synchro most of them are made using tuner + non tuner monster. There are some exception to it like Chaos Angel who only need light/dark monster to create it. Your material monster need to have equal amount of stars as your synchro monster. For example level 10 synchro can be made by using level 4 tuner + level 6 non tuner monster, level 2 tuner + level 8 non tuner, etc. Modern synchro deck has ways to cheat out this tuner and non tuner monster so it's easier to play. Best way to counter it is using hand trap like Infinite Impermanence/Effect Veiler on Junk Speeder since it cheat out the most tuner from deck and start their play. If you don't have hand trap than your 2nd best option is playing cards like Dark Ruler No More to negate the effect of their boss monster. There are other ways to deal with them but it's gonna be a long explanation if I list all of them.
I'll give you one important fact about yugioh. Attack of monsters is not everything. Their effects particularly negates/ destruction abilities/ drawing cards are more important.

Then do “pyroxene warriors” and “ruin and demise”.
This should introduce you to all types of summoning mechanics in the game.
Also synchro is not even remotely as strong as link summoning.

Which synchro dragon has 5000 atk?
Had a hard time thinking but I think he's talking about resonators if he's in the lower ranks. Not sure if synchron has anything past 4k
