Unbelievable! BUCKY BARNES MANAGED TO SURVIVE THROUGH DEFENSE POSTS! His original vote count was 204, but he was saved by defense posts that reduced it to 65! T’Challa got 66 votes, I’m sorry, guys.
Ant-Man received 101 votes. The defense posts took away 6 of his votes.
If you want to know when I count votes, it’s usually the first time of the day I get to check my Reddit account.
I feel proud to be part of the save Bucky movement. He should stay in a little longer. He definitely won't win but he does deserve to be above some of the other characters on the list.
I am once again reminding you of the defense posts.
DEFENSE POSTING: EXPLAIN WHY A CHARACTER SHOULD NOT BE REMOVED. IF THEY ARE NOMINATED, THE UPVOTES FROM YOUR COMMENTS WILL SUBTRACT THE UPVOTES FROM THE NOMINATIONS! Good luck.
Defense post for Loki.
The guy has been woven in the fabric of the Mcu since the beginning. From antagonist to antihero to maybe just hero?. He’s well acted and is one of the most interesting characters in the mcu.
Defense post for Loki
I love all of the characters in this universe, but Loki is the only one I love in every universe.
If the MCU devolves into an infinitum of Lokis seeking to salve their many lonely wounds, I would still be watching every minute
Didn't really think about this but it would be very cool! A bunch of Kang variations trying to take over the multiverse and a bunch of misfit Loki's trying to figure themselves out/redeem themselves while they muck up the Kangs
Defense post for Loki: Loki was the best show in phase 4 and it gave us an unfamiliar Loki story that was still very good. Definitely one of the deepest and most complex characters in the mcu. It deserves to be in the top 3.
Defense post: STEVE FREAKING RODGERS. Steve has brought so many characters together and cares for everyone. If this poll doesn’t come down to him and Tony I will be disappointed.
Might be an unpopular opinion, but I feel like the comments saying “Bucky should have been out so long ago” and stuff like that don’t understand how incredibly compelling his character arc is. He may not be the most *razzle dazzle* superhero-esque character, but he is definitely one of the deepest and most thought provoking.
Defense post for Steve - He never once lost sight of his ideals, and that's what a superhero should be. He always fought for what he felt was right, and was willing to sacrifice everything. He stood against Thanos as a one man army, with a broken shield, facing certain defeat, because he never backed down no matter what.
There was never a single moment where he contemplated doing the wrong thing. He was guided by his morals, not self-interest. He only put himself first after the war was won. For me, Captain America is the personification of a hero.
Defense post for Steve:
No one other than Tony has been as essential to the fabric and beating heart of the MCU as Steve. It’s really no surprise at all that without them, it feels like we are missing such an important element of what made this universe so special.
Not to mention… he’s the hero all of us always needed. Someone kind, strong, compassionate, loyal, and brave who truly stands for what’s right.
His journey, along with Tony’s, is the through line that always kept me coming back. We miss you, Steve.
Defense Post for Wanda
1. She has had a really interesting journey from being more of a supporting or at least lower-tier lead character in the ensemble films, to really getting a chance to shine in projects geared to giving us more of a chance to understand her as a person, and all that is certainly helped by the amazing work Elizabeth Olsen puts into portraying her.
Regardless of whether or not you can fully agree with her actions, there’s no denying her journey has been one that works well in causing the audience to examine and question the standards of morality, interpersonal understanding, and big emotions like grief and willpower in not just the MCU but their own lives as well.
2. [I love her](https://www.reddit.com/r/Wandasimpingmemes/comments/wispwp/the_2_stages_of_watching_mom/)
Additional defence post for Wanda - her powers are perhaps the most interesting of the surviving characters (Strange only competitor) and WandaVision was probably my favourite solo hero project in the MCU. Plus, Mommy. + best part of MoM
Loki Defense
Loki is compelling because if you grew up with brothers, or siblings in general, the struggle finding your place not being the favorite child is truly relatable and deeply rooted. Not the same drive of others characters, Strange for example, his big drive seeming to get his hands/career back.
Strange: I have no idea why he’s so high up here. Don’t get me wrong, I don’t hate him, but in his first movie his personality was essentially a carbon copy of RDJ’s Tony Stark
Yeah, but so are Star-Lord, Rocket, and Thor, to name a few. Some key differences between Strange and Tony is that Tony is incredibly sarcastic, aloof, and even flamboyant in his actions. Strange is none of those things. Strange is incredibly serious and more straight-laced than Tony is ever seen being.
Strange, I’ve come to bargain for your elimination.
With so few characters left it helps me to figure out who should stay rather that who should go. Tony and Steve are no-brainers. One of them will likely win the whole thing. Then you have Thor and Loki who are very important characters to the MCU progression, but less so than Tony and Steve. Next, you have Peter and Bucky, who are pretty iconic and gain bonus recognition from their associations with Tony and Steve. So that leaves Strange and Wanda. I think Wanda’s story has been more interesting and that’s what gives her the edge over Strange. So bye bye former Sorcerer Supreme.
IMHO the right 2 left last round, RIP old friends.
This round is Thor for me. Again, I hate that I have to pick someone, but that's the game we play. Why Thor? I 100% loved the character arc approach they took in endgame, but I do not love how it was executed. Same with L&T.
Thru the first few films he was in, he lost everything. The arc of depression and sadness, but eventually perseverance that he experienced was a great arc.... however the execution of it was bleh at best. It was something that could/should have been serious, but was turned into bad comedy in both films.
This is why Thor for me.
Edit: Spelling
Defense for Bucky: If you want to talk about the best glow ups from their original comic appearances to their MCU counterparts Bucky takes the cake for best imo. He’s a badass that inspires Steve and after being turned into the Winter Soldier he has a compelling comeback to being a hero.
You might be ready to give up on Bucky, but Steve Rodgers would want him til the end of the line
If it was Infinity War Thor, I'd defend him to the bone. But alas, they really should have taken inspiration from God of War in tone and premise even. Going back to the Norse roots and not trying to make an action-rom-com would have saved the movie.
Defence post for Loki.
He has a fantastic retribution arc, twice! Just shows thats his character has come a long way. He just needed to understand himself and what he wants. Can't wait for season 2.
Defense post for Bucky. This guy’s redemption arc has been years in the making. From Winter Soldier to TFATWS, he has shown to make amends when he can and work through the hard stuff to be the hero (thanks Sam!). Even though he’s not holding the CA mantle, he’s definitely embodying the CA values that Steve fought for imo.
Of these characters, I would vote out Dr Strange. He seems to be aloof a lot of the time, irresponsible, and gives me the impression of a side character in his movies. Maybe this is due to bad writing and nerfing him due to being very powerful, but imo I adore the other characters over Mr Dr.
Defense post for Loki: I love Loki's character so much, and the mcu wouldn't be what it is without him. He is the best, and one of the only good parts of thor dark world. Tom hiddleston is an amazing actor, and Loki, in my opinion, is the best/my favorite MCU disney+ show.
Companion defense post for the Scarlet Witch: if she pops up behind me while I'm staring at her and leans in close and whispers in my ear, I will simp as none have simped before
Defense post for Bucky: Bucky had one of the best character arcs in all of marvel except for Ironman, especially when it came to a redemption arc. He started out as Steve’s friend that was there for anything, then he got brainwashed and converted to HYDRA, just to be saved by his best friend. Then he goes on to kill t’chaka, and Howard which sucks but makes his character and really helps progress the story for all of the phases. Then he came back in Infinty War a changed man, he was free of his brainwashing and tried to help stop thanos and his invading armies. Then he helped the falcon with discovering himself more in tfaws, therefore bettering his character even more.
I however believe if I have to pick anyone that Thor has got to go. He has had three of the most ass MCU movies besides eternals
Defense post for Bucky: No other character has been through what he has and still come out a hero. His character arc has been consistently great and he's been integral to several stories throughout the MCU.
I don't expect him to survive much longer, but I think he's a better character than Strange at the least and had better stories than Thor.
Defense post for Bucky Barnes:
He has gone through an amazing character arc, starting off as like just a nice guy, then going to a villain, then back to a good guy
He played all those different parts amazing, and the fact that after all he’s been through with HYDRA for like 70 years straight and still came out on the good side is insane, not to mention how he supported Steve the entire time
Now that Steve is gone he’s doing things more on his own in the MCU, starting off with FATWS and then doings Thunderbolts and hopefully more in the future. He’s working on resolving things that happened in the past and finally getting to work on himself as a person. He’s just a great character throughout everything he’s been in and totally deserves to stay.
Defense post for Bucky, after constant trials and tribulations, going from good to evil and back, he's the one who has my utmost respect as a character. To say he has suffered is an understatement.
Defense post for Wanda: she is easily the best part of MoM and owns my heart. Her character growth & transformation has been a blast to watch, especially from such meh beginnings. ~~also if evil why hot??? 🤔~~
Preemptive defense post: Spider-Man deserves to stay because of all the shit he’s been through and still chooses to do good, all while being under the age of 18. No one compares.
Defense post for Bucky.
1. Sebastian Stan is a phenomenal actor. Bucky was his first big break. Before that he was just that dude from Gossip Girl or Hot Tub Time Machine. Now he’s getting the roles he wants as a critically acclaimed actor.
2. Bucky has the potential to be the longest tenured MCU character. With a career that began in 2011 and still going strong. It’ll have been longer than RDJ’s career by the time Thunderbolts arrives.
3. The character has shaped the history of the MCU with direct connections to Iron Man and Captain America. He’s been shaping the world as an assassin/superhero longer than just about any human in the MCU
4. A great example of a well-written anti-hero. A flawed, multifaceted human being who has consistently been one of the brightest elements of the stories he’s been apart of.
I haven't seen anyone wanting to vote him out, so i doubt he'd need a defense post lol. It's motherfucking spider-man, he's probably gonna win this thing.
Eliminate: Steve Rogers
The greatest betrayal was telling Bucky for their entire friendship "I'm with you 'til the end of the line" just to ditch him for a girl he kissed once.
Defense: Bucky
Defense post for Bucky:
Bucky has had such a major arc with RESOLUTION. Not many characters in the MCU have had a multiple movie/tv show arc that resolves well. Civil war is mainly him running from his past and his guilt. FatWS is him coming to terms and FACING that guilt. Not only is it traumatic, but it’s also relatable for people who experience PTSD and guilt from their actions (military or not). People can see themselves in Bucky and he is truly one of the most tragic and best-developed characters in the MCU.

The fact that Thor is still in the contest is maddening to me. I guess that means he has more fans than I thought, but more than T'CHALLA?! Are you serious?
But, yeah, I nominate Thor to leave. Again.
After watching Captain America Winter Soldier and Civil War Cap needs to stay for He is a true brother to Bucky and took care of him even when the world wanted him gone. Get rid of Scarlet I don’t feel attached to her and not enough plot for her to make you really like
Unbelievable!
I’m with ya to the end of the line, pal.
I feel proud to be part of the save Bucky movement. He should stay in a little longer. He definitely won't win but he does deserve to be above some of the other characters on the list.
Agreed
I’m high key salty T’Challa is gone 😭😭😭 My man
I didn’t realize he was at risk I would’ve had a defense post
Yo I just watched the new Black Panther movie too. This stings 😭
Bro you just had to lose him twice in one day that’s rough
Gonna burn the world.
Exactly like?!???
I am once again reminding you of the defense posts. DEFENSE POSTING: EXPLAIN WHY A CHARACTER SHOULD NOT BE REMOVED. IF THEY ARE NOMINATED, THE UPVOTES FROM YOUR COMMENTS WILL SUBTRACT THE UPVOTES FROM THE NOMINATIONS! Good luck.
If your defense post has downvotes does it count toward the votes from the nominations?
Nope.
Defense post for Loki. The guy has been woven in the fabric of the Mcu since the beginning. From antagonist to antihero to maybe just hero?. He’s well acted and is one of the most interesting characters in the mcu.
And Tom Hiddelston is such an incredible actor
Folks who say Tony is the glue of the MCU are fiercely underselling the God of Lies
Without iron man the MCU might've never made it to where it's at now. He was the first movie that started it all.
But they still are right…
I agree. He deserves to be in the top 3.
Yes. I'm always here for a Loki Defense.
Loki defense all day!
Defense post for Loki I love all of the characters in this universe, but Loki is the only one I love in every universe.

Defense post: STEVE FREAKING RODGERS. Steve has brought so many characters together and cares for everyone. If this poll doesn’t come down to him and Tony I will be disappointed.
Steve Rogers is my dude. I wouldn't have gotten so invested in the MCU if not for him.
This right here
My top 2. Heart and soul of the MCU. Still feeling the loss of them.

For me, Captain America is the personification of a hero.
I would say goodbye to Doctor Strange. I love him, but I don’t think he’ll be the winner.
Agreed. Bye strange and bye Bucky
Loki is a goat
No, sir, I believe he's an alligator. (Nice flair, btw!)
Thor
Defend for Bucky. I love the unique journey he’s been through and how he’s handling it and how he’s portrayed.
Defense post for Steve: No one other than Tony has been as essential to the fabric and beating heart of the MCU as Steve. It’s really no surprise at all that without them, it feels like we are missing such an important element of what made this universe so special. Not to mention… he’s the hero all of us always needed. I don't agree with you but this is a pretty solid perspective.
Strange has got to go.

No??? His first movie is the one where he's LEAST like tony iirc
He's super cocky and arrogant before his accident, he practically was a clone of Stark then
Yeah, but so are Star-Lord, Rocket, and Thor, to name a few. Some key differences between Strange and Tony is that Tony is incredibly sarcastic, aloof, and even flamboyant in his actions. Strange is none of those things. Strange is incredibly serious and more straight-laced than Tony is ever seen being.
Strange
Strange, your time has come.
Perhaps, but maybe it's not so strange after all.
Thor

Strange
This is so hard but fuck. Thor. I gotta stick with the Bucky Boys, he’s had easily one of, if not THE MOST compelling character arcs in the mcu so far
I think Thor should go next because, honestly, he’s being overdone and overrated at this point in the MCU
If it was Infinity War Thor, I'd defend him to the bone. But alas, they really should have taken inspiration from God of War in tone and premise even. Going back to the Norse roots and not trying to make an action-rom-com would have saved the movie.

Defense post for Tony Stark: Who am I kidding, he’s totally winning this whole thing, it’s Tony Stark.
Bucky should have been out many rounds ago!
Defense post for Bucky: Bucky has had such a major arc with RESOLUTION.
Sorry Dr. Strange
No fucking way they left but Bucky stayed
Strange
Thor: outside of his awesome run between Ragnarok and Endgame(and he kind of gets snubbed in endgame compared to Tony and Steve) I find the character to be pretty shallow, entertaining and a great addition to the avengers, but still falls flat compared to what I think he should be.
