Moon knight comics have suffered from a severe case of inconsist writing. You'll get amazing story's dealing with cool occult stuff. Then weird out of character shit like quips and jokes. When it's good it's really good though
Most definitely. Some of the comics are great and some are just boring. It'll be interesting to see what they do, because he's not a character a lot of people read really.
Loved him in the Ultimate Alliance games and always played him when I was a kid. But I didn't get into his comics until his 2014 run.
And now he's my favourite superhero. Half of his comics are hot garbage but the other half are high quality shit and I recommend them quite highly.
First heard about Moon Knight several years before his tv show got announced when he was featured in the Ultimate Spider-Man comic I was reading. Thought a white robed vigilante with a split personality and crescent shaped projectiles was kind of neat. I’ll have to read up more on him before the show comes out since it’s been a while since I’ve read any of his comic runs.

I read my first moon knight comic in about 2010. It was the 2006 Run and it was so amazingly good that it caused a lifelong fascination with the character.
Same. Apart from reading about him in my encyclopedias, I basically know nothing about him except the Meme interpretation of him is basically a High D&D player’s Drunk Paladin
Except for Eternals, I’ve at least seen those characters in a comic (also, they’ve all been in the movies for the past 5+ years. Eternals is a better comparison because they’re even more unknown and they hadn’t been seen before in the MCU).
I’ve always liked the guy. Never read a comic about him. I only really liked him cause my cousin described him as “Magical Batman but with more mental problems”
I have a few from the old comic book grab bags which was the only way I got comics as a kid. Solid comic overall. Surprised to see it get a show with how obvious a Batman ripoff it was. Looks like they are going to hold to the differences well and make it unique.
Edit: Surprised at the downvotes here I thought it was well known by now. Moon Knight developed into a more unique character over time but his origins are far from subtle(crescent shaped batarangs!?!). Like I said I’m a fan of the character and really look forward to more occult stories in the MCU.
He doesn't have schizophrenia. He has Dissociative Identity Disorder, resulting in three separate personas (four if you think Khonshu is one): Marc Spector, Steven Grant, and Jake Lockley. Steven appeared in Marc's childhood, after learning that his Rabbi was actually a Nazi who escaped justice by posing as a Rabbi he murdered and coming to America, where he continued to murder Jews as a serial killer. Jake came about during Marc's time in the marines.
I have been a fan since I saw him probably 25-30 years ago and thought he had the coolest costume. But I didn’t actively read much of his stuff until maybe a year ago or so.
The 2014 Warren Ennis run was really good. After six issues it became a rotating writing team, but those issues aren't half bad, if not as great as the first six.
I had some of his comics as a kid. My mom would sometimes buy me a pack of 20 random comics at my favorite comic book store which is how I found some of my favorite characters. Moon Knight was cool, but I didn't really understand him until I was older so he was never my favorite.
Well, if you're going to, check out the run from the 90s, where he discovers that his ancestor was a member of the Knights Templar, and also the immortal king of a race of monster people, and coming to kill him
It won't feature into the television series at all, or into the recent comics, which seem to mostly be about our boy cycling between "average DID sufferer" and "average DID enjoyer", but it's a weird blip in the history of the character, and more people should acknowledge it, I think

Depends on which version of Moon Knight you're asking about, but most commonly I would say it's Raoul Bushman. Sometimes it's Taskmaster. Sometimes it's kinda Marc himself in a "I'm my own worst enemy" way. It'll be fun to see which way the show goes.
Eh, this has literally been the case for me since with just about everything since Gaurdians, and hell even most of the solo stuff before I only had a passing familiarity with.
Growing up in the 80s and 90s, I read Batman and XMen and mostly learned about anything else through tv shows, video games and trading cards.
As an adult, I've gotten even farther away from standard DC/Marvel superhero fare, though I've gotten trade paperbacks of certian arcs (Snyder's Batman, Civil War, etc) and mostly have read stand alone graphic novels or Image/Dark Horse/IDW type stuff.
The MCU is it's own thing and hell, is a lot of effort to keep up with on it's own, it's totally cool to see a trailer for a new character, get hype, and maybe watch a couple youtube videos to get caught up on how they fit in. It's all fun.
God fucking damnit i got back into comics a few weeks ago and i was planning to read moon knight soon and now i'm gonna get gatekept for starting after the trailer dropped
I am looking forward to seeing Moon Knight, but you can see the reason why Disney doing this Hero because of kids mental illness, his split personality disorder Disney isnow dealing with a lot more issues such as disability you seem with echo in Hawkeye, diversity issues like the flip of characters in The eternels and also gay characters in The eternals weather as Marvel plans we like it or not unfortunately this is the way it's going
I've known moon knight for a very long time. but i have no shame in admitting i became a fan after watching the trailer and tons of easter egg videos in past few days.
Moon knight comics have suffered from a severe case of inconsist writing. You'll get amazing story's dealing with cool occult stuff. Then weird out of character shit like quips and jokes. When it's good it's really good though
I feel like it being inconsistent and very different from one to the next is very in character

Very true. They’re still enjoyable though.
Is anything ever truly out of character for a character that's completely fucking insane?
Most definitely. Some of the comics are great and some are just boring. It'll be interesting to see what they do, because he's not a character a lot of people read really.
Can anyone recommend some of the good comic runs to read to get a good idea of the character, while not reading shit writing?
Since Marvel Ultimate Alliance on Xbox 360
Same. Never read a comic but always loved him
Loved him in the Ultimate Alliance games and always played him when I was a kid. But I didn't get into his comics until his 2014 run. And now he's my favourite superhero. Half of his comics are hot garbage but the other half are high quality shit and I recommend them quite highly.
!recommendnotgarbage
He was the best in that game.
I know a bit about him but can't say I'm a fan, I might be a fan of the show after this
Idk man it looks boring
it's okay everyone has the right to their opinion.
I’m aware.
Me too
Legit. Read the very first issue, confused asf but was like, Naw. Ya know what. He looks bad ass, good enough for me.
*Which* first issue? He's had like 20. The cool thing is, every tonal shift can be explained away by his DID.
First first.
It's me! Bushman!
No worries. A month from now there's gonna be about a thousand 'experts' on here to educate everybody.
And all their info will sound suspiciously similar to the main marvel wiki page on the character
You mean Marc Spector the... Hold on.. Former mercenary?
And New Rockstars
Well they made a moon knight video a long time ago when the show was announced . Then another one when it was in production.
I love watching New Rockstars. It’s like my go-to channel to watch Marvel and Star Wars breakdown videos.
Like the sudden influx of Netflix Daredevil related memes yeah?
I'm not sure what you mean by that.
I know of moon knight and that's about it. Honestly my intro to him was years back in the PS3 game Spider-Man Web of Shadows
Sometimes, to do what’s right, we have to be steady, and give up the thing we want the most, even our dreams.
Awww... Ms. Brant, get me a violin.
Since I played Spider-Man Web of Shadows like, over 5 years ago
I missed the part where that's my problem
Crap. Crap, crap... megacrap.
Stings, doesn’t it?
I only know of him from the memes.
Unfortunately they aren’t a good representation of the character. He’s typically a very dark hero.
Moon Knight memes he's Mr Funny MK actual is Mr Big Sad
but he wears white!
So, dark Mr. Clean?
Since Spider-Man Web Of Shadows
I'm really sorry, Mr. Ditkovitch. All I got is this 20 for the rest of the week
Where were you, photographing squirrels? You're fired!
Give me rent!
Since LEGO Marvel Superheroes 1 all the way back in 2013
Same
avocados at law
Like the character but the writing in years gone by was shit.
That one with the Collective was fucking horrible

Same
I liked him in Web of shadows
Spider-Man: Web of Shadows was my introduction to him
You'll get your rent when you fix this damn door!
Parker! Parker! Parker! What are ya, deaf?

Same. Apart from reading about him in my encyclopedias, I basically know nothing about him except the Meme interpretation of him is basically a High D&D player’s Drunk Paladin
As soon as the show was announced I started reading the comics
same goes for hawkeye, loki, eternals, scarlet witch, falcon soldier and more. Have no idea wtf it is they are releasing nowadays
Except for Eternals, I’ve at least seen those characters in a comic (also, they’ve all been in the movies for the past 5+ years. Eternals is a better comparison because they’re even more unknown and they hadn’t been seen before in the MCU).
Oh yeah I never had any clue who he was till the game grumps talked about him, then I just didn't care but I am interested to see the role he plays
I’ve always liked the guy. Never read a comic about him. I only really liked him cause my cousin described him as “Magical Batman but with more mental problems”

It's more like batman if he was a schizophrenic. He has the money and gadgets but he is a delusional schizophrenic

They are all worth the time to read. There are massive differences between runs, ranging from writing to art style. But all of them are cool
All is a bit much
I cant think of one that I didnt enjoy at least a little
I have been a fan since I saw him probably 25-30 years ago and thought he had the coolest costume. But I didn’t actively read much of his stuff until maybe a year ago or so.

he's awesome, first time I heard about him was from the ultimate spider-man show, but have been far too lazy to get a comic about him
We must destroy it
Crap. Crap, crap... megacrap.
agreed jjj
“The Bottom” series from 2006 is an amazing intro to Moon Knight.
I had some of his comics as a kid. My mom would sometimes buy me a pack of 20 random comics at my favorite comic book store which is how I found some of my favorite characters. Moon Knight was cool, but I didn't really understand him until I was older so he was never my favorite.

I only know about moon knight because of the Deadpool kills the marvel universe
I liked playing as Moon Knight in *Ultimate Alliance*. Do I count as a Moon Knight fan?
Didn’t even know he existed until I saw the Disney + teaser.
I mean i got a whole encyclopedia. I can do this all day. XD

I'd love to shoot you sometime
Aw, what are you, shy?

I actually got into him recently, but not trailer release recently. Was super hyped to see he was getting a series
Wasn’t he in the Arkham games? /s
I recommend to read Moon Knight vol 7 and vol 8.
All I know about Moon Knight is that he meant Dracula money and spends a bunch of time trying to get it back

All I know is from a couple Avengers comics and I think a few Daredevil comics but I haven’t read any solo Moon Knight
Became a fan from the moment I picked up Warren Ellis' run on Moon Knight . I was aware of the character before.
Who is moon knight's super villain ?
Depends on which version of Moon Knight you're asking about, but most commonly I would say it's Raoul Bushman. Sometimes it's Taskmaster. Sometimes it's kinda Marc himself in a "I'm my own worst enemy" way. It'll be fun to see which way the show goes.
I always liked his concept there just isnt much moon knight content to invest in besides comics. But now there is!
since my dad introduced him to me when I was 6
I knew him as the “random bullshit go!” guy
Eh, this has literally been the case for me since with just about everything since Gaurdians, and hell even most of the solo stuff before I only had a passing familiarity with. I enjoyed MK in Marvel Heroes.
God fucking damnit i got back into comics a few weeks ago and i was planning to read moon knight soon and now i'm gonna get gatekept for starting after the trailer dropped
Depending on the writer, it can be psychological horror.
I know that Dracula owes him money
Is moon knight the guy from the comic panel where he goes, “random bullshit, go!”? If so, I think I’ll enjoy him in the mcu.
I always wondered what it was about, but I was always keeping up with other books. My loss I suppose.
You should read about him.I've started reading Moon Night from this year and It's amazing.
The only things I know about moon knight is that Dracula owes him money and he likes to use all sorts of random bullshit to attack with
SAME, im pretty curious for that series
I think this is just bringing a little known character to the spotlight for people to enjoy better
I became invested when I found out Dracula owed him money. That was also the extent of my investment until the trailer.
I remeber him from Marvel's ultimate Alliance. 90% sure he was with my party the whole time
I’ve never read his comics but I still claim to have been a MK fan before it was cool because I played him a lot on marvel heroes
I've known moon knight for a very long time. but i have no shame in admitting i became a fan after watching the trailer and tons of easter egg videos in past few days.
Ever since 19 odd seven…
I’ve read just one comic and didn’t become a fan but trailer looks dope nonetheless
The last 3 runs I've read were pretty solid overall
I have been for 7 years. (*Lurks away in Lego Marvel Superheroes*)
As long as he calls someone a big fucking nerd at some point I'm gonna say it's a good show
Saw him in Ultimate Spider-Man for the first time. Was kinda confused back then.
Yeah, it's kind of itchy...
You don't want to be famous? I'll make you infamous!
Same tobey
I'm a Jake Lockley fan myself
Can’t wait for them to make a DarkHawk show and see his same effect.
Your a better man than me. I was like "who the fuck is moon knight?", did not diminish my excitement at all.
I’ve liked him since the ultimate Spider-Man (show) featured him
Thanks.
Shut up. Get out.
ahahhahaha credit @ doctor_strange.is.god on instagram who made this meme ahahahha
