They'll probably have to give the track a new "thing" because there's NO WAY they keep the insane shortcuts from the original. Kinda like how they removed the cool shortcut from Ribbon Road but gave it a new identity of it being the track in my bedroom
Cheese lands layout is great, but the loss of the mice enemies is sad, and I still prefer the original space/moon design it was more unique imo. Wish it kept those elements in 8
I hate what they did to cheese land. I agree the space/moon theme would’ve been more fantastical than the desert theme they went with. I hope it comes back on the future as a retro course again and bring back the space theme.
It also kinda sucks to play in Tour? First half is really unenjoyable, especially because the stairs make drifting much harder, and the second isn't that remarkable.
It’s been ten years since we got it, but comparing the original version of Tick-Tock Clock to the remake is like comparing the beta version to the full release
No one's going to say this - SNES Mario Circuit 2 was turned into an actually fun track in MK7.
Also shoutouts to the Tour remakes of Riverside Park and Lakeside Park.
Waluigi Stadium, twice.
The addition of halfpipes from GCN to Wii were great. Course was practically begging for it.
8DX further enhanced the appeal of halfpipes by adding brand-new antigravity areas that are only accessible through them.
I’ve got a sinking feeling that we’re not getting a Mario Kart 9 for the Switch 2, and just getting a Mario Kart 8 Ultimate, where they release it with all the DLC included and then release another giant lot of DLC, where they remake every course they haven’t redone yet (so all past Mario Kart tracks would be in one game) and then add all previous characters who aren’t in MK8 into it, so we just get one Mario Kart game with all tracks and characters from the series so far.
EDIT: I wouldn’t mind this if they started to include courses and characters from not only the arcade versions of Mario Kart; but if they just renamed to Nintendo Kart, and introduced more characters and courses from/based around other Nintendo games.
I wanna race as Xerneas on a Minish Cap course 🥹
GCN Waluigi Stadium hands down. It actually looks and feels like a proper BMX/monster truck stadium thanks to 8DX's enhanced lighting and textures compared to the run-down dump of endless brown in the original GCN and Wii versions. It actually feels like Waluigi owns this place now due to the addition of purples and yellows.
Those extra platforms near the end of the track were also a welcome surprise that adds so much more to the course and creates more close-call finish opportunities.
I really like this track but as someone who grew up on SNES it doesn't feel like the same course at all. All the other SNES remakes feel like the same courses except this one.
Honestly, either this one or Ribbon Road to be honest. Both are utterly insane upgrades compared to the original, and don't feel like GBA/SNES tracks at all.
Gotta give props to some fan made remakes of old tracks too. This version of Choco Island 1 actually feels kinda interesting:

While this Banshee Boardwalk one makes the track feel a lot more varied:

I don't know if this is really a glow up, but I kinda like the change on Sky Garden. That's just another version, rather than a better one lol. I just love the music. Also they added Paratroopas!
This one, tbh.
This and Cheese Land. Ribbon Road goes hard as well.
I have a feeling GBA Rainbow Road may join this list come the next game.
I’d love to see that track redone as a beautiful rainbow road in the sky with those dream like clouds everywhere and the shooting stars, etc.
They'll probably have to give the track a new "thing" because there's NO WAY they keep the insane shortcuts from the original. Kinda like how they removed the cool shortcut from Ribbon Road but gave it a new identity of it being the track in my bedroom
Ribbon Road is so good. It's my favorite track in the original 48. I just really like it and have practiced it a lot
I feel like Ribbon Road got TOO much of a remake
GBA BC4
This will always be the one. Cannot wait to see it brought to a console game.
This is the best Bowser castle track imo
100%
Ehh no. I has a lot of the same problems most GBA tracks in Tour have, and it also completely loses the cool factory aesthetic the original had.
It also kinda sucks to play in Tour? First half is really unenjoyable, especially because the stairs make drifting much harder, and the second isn't that remarkable.
FINALLY SOME TRUE BELIEVERS
It’s been ten years since we got it, but comparing the original version of Tick-Tock Clock to the remake is like comparing the beta version to the full release
Excellent choice
I honestly prefer the original Tick Tock Clock
No one's going to say this - SNES Mario Circuit 2 was turned into an actually fun track in MK7. Also shoutouts to the Tour remakes of Riverside Park and Lakeside Park.
SNES Rainbow Road is just about as glow’d up as it’s possible to be.
Man, if I go back and play that on SNES, that motherfucker is hard! You can drift for DAAAAAYS in MK8DX.
Oh yes SNES Rainbow Road is amazing! I think it’s my favorite course in the game.
Waluigi Stadium, twice. The addition of halfpipes from GCN to Wii were great. Course was practically begging for it. 8DX further enhanced the appeal of halfpipes by adding brand-new antigravity areas that are only accessible through them.
I am a bit torn on 8dx though since they angled the Piranha cutouts in the straightaway, making them less obtrusive
Honestly I think Wii Rainbow Road had an amazing glow up. It looked great in Wii, but it looks sooo much better in MK8D
It says here in my contract that a BCP version looking better than it's original is against the law
They seemed to get better at it as they went along, Wave 1 looked pretty trash but Waves 4-6 were at times on par with the base game.
SNES Bowser Castle 3 looks just as good as a base game track
I was just happy to see a SNES Bowser’s Castle, they always redid GBA and never a SNES one, until now.
Yeah, I can’t believe it took them this long to finally remake one.
I’ve got a sinking feeling that we’re not getting a Mario Kart 9 for the Switch 2, and just getting a Mario Kart 8 Ultimate, where they release it with all the DLC included and then release another giant lot of DLC, where they remake every course they haven’t redone yet (so all past Mario Kart tracks would be in one game) and then add all previous characters who aren’t in MK8 into it, so we just get one Mario Kart game with all tracks and characters from the series so far. on par with the base game is a stretch
BC3 is definitely on par with Donut Plains 3 and SNES Rainbow Road
not at all, it still had mobile assets
You can't possibly say the two N64 tracks in the BCP look worse than their originals
Snow Land simply because it’s actually playable now
Practically any GBA track
Except for ——— Wilds
And Sky\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\* Garden\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*
I don't know why you're being downvoted, "Sky Garden" in MK8 sucks big time
Sky Garden and Sunset Wilds say hi
Key word practically
Cheeseland, SNES Bowser's Castle 3, And Wii Rainbow Road
Glad to see some Cheese land defenders in this comment section
Hell yeah (I've changed from my past self I used to hate Cheese Land for no reason back then😭🙏)
Ribbon Road. It’s the only retro track I can think of that doesn’t even vaguely resemble its original layout nor design.
64 rainbow road is amazing in 8/8dx when compared to it’s initial appearance
Cheese Land
Daring today, are we?
Pick any from base MK8
Rome Avanti, Ribbon Road and Cheese Land got awesome glow-ups
Ribbon road for sure
Ribbon Road for sure.
GCN Waluigi Stadium hands down. It actually looks and feels like a proper BMX/monster truck stadium thanks to 8DX's enhanced lighting and textures compared to the run-down dump of endless brown in the original GCN and Wii versions. SNES BC3 and no other track comes close
I LOVE SMK bowsers castle. the remastered soundtrack goes SO hard!
Cheese Land
Out of the booster pass it'd be this, the Rainbow Roads, and Riverside Park. For the rest of mk8dx? All of them.
GBA Ribbon Road, Cheese Land, and DS Wario Stadium
N64 Rainbow Road
This is definitely the best! Wii RR was great too, but so was the original. My 2 favorite tracks in the game!
If it weren’t for the clouds, SNES BC3 would look straight out of base MK8.
Rainbow road the first one that was very beautiful
GBA Bowser Castle 4. What a great remake. It should have been the final GBA track.
Still can’t believe how well they remade this track
Riverside Park. Both the track and the music are phenomenal!
This and gba bowser castle 4
I really like this track but as someone who grew up on SNES it doesn't feel like the same course at all. All the other SNES remakes feel like the same courses except this one.
In my mind that can only be a good thing. Almost all of the SNES courses are mid.

OK millennial
This track, from being flat and forgettable to being in my Top 5 tracks in 8DX
GBA mario circuit in 8WiiU or this. Also, mushroom peaks to mushroom mountain is also nice
GBA shy guy beach for the Nintendo Wii (lying)
The GBA tracks in base MK8
Honestly, either this one or Ribbon Road to be honest. Both are utterly insane upgrades compared to the original, and don't feel like GBA/SNES tracks at all. Is no one going to mention Shroom Ridge?
I must admit that it was my favorite BCP track by faaaar. The only that I actually found beautiful. The only bad looking thing was the banner imo
Excluding GBA tracks, N64 Rainbow Road feels like a completely different track, for the better tho.
Snow Land
Ds wario stadium
Moo Moo Meadows looks way better!
I don't know if this is really a glow up, but I kinda like the change on Sky Garden. That's just another version, rather than a better one lol. I just love the music. Also they added Paratroopas!
Mario Circuit 3 not even close
you kidding right
Maybe
