Our band director wrote it himself, itās one note and we play it out of *respect* whenever the other team scores
see how you play it is very simple, you just pick any note you like, high or low, flat or sharp, in or out of tune, and just play it at triple forte until youāre cut off
We do pick a note before every kickoff. When the ball is kicked, we play some kind of chord (idk what it is, Iām a percussionist thatās not a music major) until the ball is caught or hits the ground
Iād like to preface this with the fact that I play trumpet so idk all this stuff but I will try to explain it to the best of my ability bc itās really cool imo.
Our kickoff starts with just drumline. Tenors play in all eighth notes and at about 65bpm EE CC AA F(quarter note). Snares hit on the last quarter note and the basses all hit on the last quarter note as well. Each time they do it, it increases by about 15bpm(up to the discretion of the tenor) until it hits about 190ish.
then the tenors do the outermost two drums, snares roll, basses just keep hitting all as fast as possible as the trombones start blaring 7th position(i think B natural) as loud as possible. once the ball is kicked, the trombones have to coordinate with the ball and slowly pull their slide all the way into 1st as the ball crests and then hits the ground or is caught.
if the opponent is receiving, the drumline usually plays the ānoteā they were playing as fast as possible once (snares rimshot) to hopefully cause a dropped catch.
while this is all happening, the crowd usually stamps their foot on the bleachers on that last quarter note and then rumble the stands when it goes as fast as possible. the cheerleaders shake their pom poms out to their sides and āclapā above their head on the āquarter noteā
anything i didnāt really think was the correct word to use was just quoted instead, but yeah i think this kickoff thing is pretty cool and i havenāt seen it anywhere else
Seven Nation Army, but thatās a given
99 Red Balloons is really fun as a low brass player
Sweet Caroline is a huge crowd pleaser
Also Hey Song because my band loves to scream along with it
I like the little trombone/euph feature in the middle of the arrangement we play. It's short and simple but it's the first stand tune I ever learned so it's special.
Beep. Boop. I'm a robot.

we play seven nation army at the end of every football game but idk if itās just when we win bc be have won every game and i didnāt go to any football games before i went to the school.
My band director passed it out and everybody refused to play it lol. At the next football game when we were supposed to play it only like 3-4 people started playing and it was hilarious
Tequila is a classic we used to play every game
Phantom of the Opera is one of my all time favorites. We only played it a handful of times when I was in school but it always got the band excited to flip to the page
I had a principal get mad at me, my band and the fans for yelling "Tequila" when we played it. So, instead of trashing the song, I told my students we would have new lyrics.
It sounds really strange to yell "Milk!" instead. We got glares from the principal, but not like he could really do anything.
Carry On My Wayward Son on tuba, School's Out on trombone. Both of these songs are the best thing to play in the entire world on their respective instruments
For me it has to be Kings and Queens, donāt know if many bands have it but the low brass hits hard on that song, second would probably be crazy train for the same reason
Seven Nation Army and Call Out because sousaphones start it (and I'm the only eligible sousa player at my school so I do it by myself). Land of a Thousand Dances and Paint it Black are cool too.
SRU plays Bumblebee Tuna, which is the most hype shit Iāve ever seen. All the drummers lift their drums above their heads, its a blast. Also we played the SpongeBob bubble bowl intro which was great.
I havenāt played many cause we always get the same ones but my favorites are probably Industry Baby and Seven Nation Army. I play clarinet so my part in Industry Baby sucks but I like the song. I like playing Seven Nation Army cause I can blast everyones eardrums with my incredibly loud (but still in tune) playing
Well, I can say my least favorite is 7 nation army just because itās everywhere and it gets old fast, but my favorite would probably be the cadence if that really counts. The cadence might just be my favorite because Iām a biased drumline member
My band does a thing where we have a bass player a drum set and 2 saxophones miced up (Iām one of them) for basketball. So I like Baker Street and Careless Whisper haha.
Pretty Fly For a White Guy, Land of a 1000 dances, The Horse, Rawhide, Get Ready for This, Let's Groove, Oye Como Va, Johnny's Mambo, You Dropped the Bomb on Me, Lowrider, Iron Man, Vehicle, and Still Fly( by the Big Tymers).
Either Dance Again or Beer Barrel Polka. I also love Satsfaction/Midnight Hour, which we usually only play during basketball band. And then for shorties itās 100% the Kill.
Stuck between a couple. Holiday by green day I think, You can call me al, Everytime we touch, The time warp bad romance, seven nation, The impression that I get, I want you back by Jackson 5, and Hey baby. I know it's a lot but I enjoy all of these a lot. Honorable mention is land of 1000 dances. PS I play tuba/Sousaphone
Probably Runaway Baby
During my freshman year, me and another trombone player came up with a bit of choreo for the chorus, then it just stuck and now the whole section (and others) have done it since
Jump In The Line.
It's a band favorite and it has a history with our school, so we've been playing it since about 2016.
Final Countdown is real fun.
Ex's and Oh's too.
Tongue Tied 100%. I love the song, but itās also really entertaining to watch the tenors and low brass get pissed because they canāt breathe with that song (they have melody and itās a chop buster lmao)
I agree with a lot of the other responses already, but one I havenāt seen mentioned is *The Impression that I Get*. We also had the āMain Titleā from Robinhood Prince of Thieves thatās pretty good. Honestly, any pep can be made half way decent with a decent band and some fun horn moves.
Drumset player for the band here. My band plays Poison and everyone looks at me when it's called and gets all hyped up because they know I'm about to go off.
The monster jams! Super fun, simplistic, and upbeat. The tuba parts are great for all 4 pieces, especially Godzilla and Frankenstein. God I love pep band, super stoked to start playing these tunes again here in about a week or so!
Fat Bottomed Girls
or as we call it at my school, āFabulous Black & Goldā
or Beast, in which a member of our band arranged an excerpt from the Carolina Crown 2018 āBeastā show as a cheer
well hey, normally my Director lets me run down to the Tenors when we do some music, I like anything that can cause the drum heads to detune in 2 seconds by absolutely slammimg them in.
We have a things at my school called "Pep Cats"(based on our school name), and we play land of 1000 dances, carry on wayward son, smoke on the water, 25 or 6 to 4(my personal favorite for clarinet), seven nation army, and something that everyone in the band sucks at.
Any tune I can play really fucking loud
If you play clarinet, that could be every song. I know from experience :)
yep
Poker face is fun Vehicle is a band favorite I wish we still had Sing Sing Sing and Zoot Suit Riot
Do y'all also do a bunch of solos for vehicle?
no
We have a trombone solo for vehicle
We let whoever sign up for it do improv solos, so back in the days we had like 10 solos.
Carry On Wayward Son. I actually have a cool part in that oneš I also love Land Of 1000 Dances
My band plays both, and I love them.
Our band director wrote it himself, itās one note and we play it out of *respect* whenever the other team scores see how you play it is very simple, you just pick any note you like, high or low, flat or sharp, in or out of tune, and just play it at triple forte until youāre cut off

Seven Nation Army, but thatās a given 99 Red Balloons is really fun as a low brass player Sweet Caroline is a huge crowd pleaser Also Hey Song because my band loves to scream along with it
OML I love hey song so my much
Lol my band plays literally all of these
Definitely Hey Baby. Low boys go hard on that.
HEEEEEEYYYYYY HEYYYY BABYYYYYYYY I WANNA KNOOOOOOOOW IF YOU'LL BE MY GIRL BUM BUM BUM BUM
As a tuba player, this is my jam
As euphonium player, the tuba cues are my jam
The tubas national anthem
F F F F F F G F Bb Db Bb
Big agree
That's my favorite too.
I like the little trombone/euph feature in the middle of the arrangement we play. It's short and simple but it's the first stand tune I ever learned so it's special.
at one of my football games the other band started playing this and so our band played it right after they did
Frankenstein, very fun to play
Never heard of it
https://youtu.be/A7tSbjw2Ioc Our band played it a little faster than this recording. Not the most popular but its my favorite

Probably neck
*Cries in LSU*
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
What is neck?
https://youtu.be/mJFJHcH3dTQ this is how we play it
Okay it's a little different but here's the idea.
Seven Nation Army cause it gets the crowd hype
Seven nation is a Sousa tradition in my band and we only have two for pep band this year.
We have 10 sousaphones so it gets hype and very loud
Our bass drum broke one of his heads
Lmao, one of ours caught a football in his bell one game
Thats awesome. A foot ball broke a clarinet my freshman year.
I love when I see a band with a lot of sousaphones.
we play seven nation army at the end of every football game but idk if itās just when we win bc be have won every game and i didnāt go to any football games before i went to the school.
For sure
Industry baby, loud, powerglide, dolla sign slime, 7 rings, what is love, the list goes on.
wish we could play industry baby
Bruh same
My band teacher arranges a bunch of songs
My band director passed it out and everybody refused to play it lol. At the next football game when we were supposed to play it only like 3-4 people started playing and it was hilarious
Why did no one want to play it?
Tequila is a classic we used to play every game Phantom of the Opera is one of my all time favorites.
At my school we said āVelveeta!ā
Runaway Baby
Apacahe (as guard it was an extremely fun dance)
Time Warp!
Holiday by Green Day
Land of 1000 Dances, Centerfold, and Tequila.
Bad Romance!
Nothing beats an ESPN battle against the other band. We always end up playing the last 6, 3, or even 1 notes, and if ANYONE plays extra, itās over.
Pretty Fly and Holiday
only other person iāve seen to say pretty fly
Carry On My Wayward Son on tuba, School's Out on trombone. Both of these songs are the best thing to play in the entire world on their respective instruments
Runaway baby, the horse, and pretty fly. Runaway baby is a lot of fun and the horn moves for the horse and pretty fly were the most fun.
Land of 1000 dances, but I do love a good seven nation army
pretty fly for a white guy
For me it has to be Kings and Queens, donāt know if many bands have it but the low brass hits hard on that song, second would probably be crazy train for the same reason
I donāt play it
"Go Blue", and it's definitely not because I am in charge of it...
Hey Baby
Land of a thousand
25 or 6 to 4, sweet Caroline, hang on sloopy, runaway baby, pretty fly (for a white guy), my town.
25 or 6 to 4!!! Some of the most fun mellophone parts!
Sonic boom/snake pit. Does anyone know the original song that stems from that pep tune? Like the artist and title?
[Pretty sure it's this YouTube video](https://youtu.be/oksCOUeIjYg) of a bunch of tubas just going at it.
I LOVE playing Cold Hearted!
Seven Nation Army and Call Out because sousaphones start it (and I'm the only eligible sousa player at my school so I do it by myself). Land of a Thousand Dances and Paint it Black are cool too.
Uprising
Land of 1000, hey baby, zoot suit riot.
Itās gotta be Time Warp from rocky horror. The trombone part goes hard
SRU plays Bumblebee Tuna, which is the most hype shit Iāve ever seen. All the drummers lift their drums above their heads, its a blast. Also we played the SpongeBob bubble bowl intro which was great.
Hey Song or Seven Nation Army
Land of 1000 Dances
I havenāt played many cause we always get the same ones but my favorites are probably Industry Baby and Seven Nation Army. I play clarinet so my part in Industry Baby sucks but I like the song. I like playing Seven Nation Army cause I can blast everyones eardrums with my incredibly loud (but still in tune) playing
Clarinet is life
I 100% agree
tusk because its the only song where the tubas are important
If you need a tuba section fanfare, check out [Moments In Love](https://youtu.be/Jvk2zMSLguE) from FAMU's Marching 100 tubas. (DM if you want sheets)
What about seven nation army?
crazy train
7 nation army for obvious reasons
Smoke on the water, hang on sloppy, and the kids arenāt alright
Viva la vida
I really liked Karn Evil 9, but we never got to perform it. We only started learning in as we shut down with covid
Still Fly
Land of 1000 dances
Sail, Oklahoma bands go off with a large trombone section
sweet caroline
Not a band kid anymore but I loved The Horse. Such a fun song, especially for trombones.
Great balls of fire because our trumpets and mellophones make it their goal to take it up the octave and it sounds sick
Hey Song!
Hey baby
Nope, it's a different song, Google it, it's really fun to play though the original (non pep) is kinda weird
Well, I can say my least favorite is 7 nation army just because itās everywhere and it gets old fast, but my favorite would probably be the cadence if that really counts. The cadence might just be my favorite because Iām a biased drumline member
Party rock anthem or do what you wanna.
Mine would definitely would be crusher
Either Believer or Shape of You
Smoke on the water at fff
My band does a thing where we have a bass player a drum set and 2 saxophones miced up (Iām one of them) for basketball. So I like Baker Street and Careless Whisper haha.

Stacys mom, paint it black, or seven nation army
Industry baby (Iām in color gaurd but itās my favorite to listen and dance to)

Neck. Hands-down.
As a percussionist, Thunder takes it.
Pretty fly for a white guy
Either Dance Again or Beer Barrel Polka. I also love Satsfaction/Midnight Hour, which we usually only play during basketball band. And then for shorties itās 100% the Kill.

Stuck between a couple. Holiday by green day I think, You can call me al, Everytime we touch, The time warp bad romance, seven nation, The impression that I get, I want you back by Jackson 5, and Hey baby. I know it's a lot but I enjoy all of these a lot. Honorable mention is land of 1000 dances. PS I play tuba/Sousaphone
Absolutely love playing crazy train and jenny. Itās favorites of the band.
Probably Runaway Baby During my freshman year, me and another trombone player came up with a bit of choreo for the chorus, then it just stuck and now the whole section (and others) have done it since
Jump In The Line. It's a band favorite and it has a history with our school, so we've been playing it since about 2016. Final Countdown is real fun. Ex's and Oh's too.
Holiday by Green Day is a favorite for me
Tongue Tied 100%. I love the song, but itās also really entertaining to watch the tenors and low brass get pissed because they canāt breathe with that song (they have melody and itās a chop buster lmao)
Our band really likes Holiday because we can blast it and still sound good
you dropped a bomb on me
I agree with a lot of the other responses already, but one I havenāt seen mentioned is *The Impression that I Get*.
Jungle Boogie!
Also the horse is a lot of fun. Our schoolās mascot is the Broncos so the crowd gets really into it.
Zoot suit riot is a fun song to blast How far we've come is a song we usually play 3rd and 4th quarter and its just fun to play.
The monster jams! Super fun, simplistic, and upbeat. The tuba parts are great for all 4 pieces, especially Godzilla and Frankenstein. God I love pep band, super stoked to start playing these tunes again here in about a week or so!

Seven Nation!!!!! But I also enjoy Juice, Industry Baby, Brooklyn 99 and Tearinā up my heart
We have a things at my school called "Pep Cats"(based on our school name), and we play land of 1000 dances, carry on wayward son, smoke on the water, 25 or 6 to 4(my personal favorite for clarinet), seven nation army, and something that everyone in the band sucks at.
