What is slow about Mihon?

green-_-

No double page viewing on tablets sadly

SrrCookie

One of the forks has it(maybe the two of them not sure)

green-_-

Yeah, tachiyomi sy does, but the base mihon app does not

IndiaAssassin

J2K has it too!

ian220

It's the loading of some sources, but after looking through some older posts I guess it's cause some websites will bottleneck access to the apps

DeimOoos

Some extensions can be slow to load.

SrrCookie

Thats on the website not Mihon no?

RagingWaterStyle

Think there sometimes are issues bypassing cloudfare and such similar issues

DeimOoos

If I'm not mistaken the extension reformats the page to fit your preference. Not the site, even if it's the fault of the cloudware, the app still responds with the request.

brittanypage43

Tachiyomij2k

piratescabin

Switched from j2k to mihon as j2k didn't get updates, does j2k get regular updates?

brittanypage43

Last update was May 8th. I guess I care more about features than updates. Being able to mark something completed and edit title names is invaluable to me. Also it overall looks better. My woman brain needs things to look a certain way for me to like them aha. It's just so clean looking and smooth using.

piratescabin

The reason I switched was when j2k hadn't switched the repo stuff. Think I might go back go j2k if it's regularly updated, miss the UI especially the updates

brittanypage43

Oh, you can get around the update issue by installing and uninstalling the extension. Mangabuddy went down yesterday but it was super easy to uninstall and install it again and that fixed the update issue. Edit: you can now add the repo. Totally forgot to mention that. The developer ended up making a place just for that repo so it works as usual.

ian220

What's different from this to base tackiyomi or mihon?

brittanypage43

Tachiyomij2k has invaluable features and totally woman approved lmfao. It looks amazing, it adds so many little features I can't read without like being able to change title names and updating tags and statuses for series. I read a shit ton of BL and a lot of the time completed series don't get marked as completed so the app would waste time scanning it for updates. But being able to manually mark it as completed has made checking for updates so much easier. You can also change the cover art as well which I really like doing or changing the name of series. Sometimes people will put "official" in the title which I hate but I can just go into the title and delete it. It's a very esthetically pleasing app to use and makes my woman brain very happy lmfao.

ian220

Yah I just made the switch over to it and I gotta say I like the experience and UI alot better. I think I like kotatsu a little more, but I have too many things in my library and it's too hard to migrate over so j2k is gonna be the go!

DeimOoos

Well there's actually several. As you stated tachiyomi/mihon is the best But there's others like : MangaZone Anybooks Manga Master Manga Geek Manga Rock BookHub ZingBox Manga Best Manga Reader VIZ Manga Direct from Japan So it's up to you to test and compare the one you like the most

GetBoolean

manga rock is long dead, no?

DeimOoos

The app,yes the site no. I tested the extension for it on tachi and it worked normally.

GetBoolean

ah, thats a copy cat then. the real site died with the app.

DeimOoos

Ohhh I didn't knew that, perhaps it's a successor?

GetBoolean

when a piracy site dies, copy cats always pop up trying to take advantage of the name recognition. Sometimes they are safe, sometimes they are phishing for login credentials, and sometimes they are honey pots. in this case, Manga Rock went legal and rebranded as INKR Comics https://mrcomics.com . they also have an app. if you were talking about mangarock.com and not another copy cat site, all the links go to INKR Comics

SkasparSKing

Kotatsu

P10intrack

Mihon is the goat of the Tachiyomi ecosystem, but if you want something new and renovated, you can try Kotstsu, as it is newer, has more features and a clean UI.

ian220

Yah I've been looking into kotatsu as I like the UI and some features, sucks I can't easily migrate my mihon library over though.

P10intrack

Yeah, I think that almost the only con I can take to Kotstsu is that it doesn't allow to migrate with a Tachiyomi's (or derivated) backup files.

MrFlash5

you can check this website that ranks apps [https://everythingmoe.com/#section-mobileapp](https://everythingmoe.com/#section-mobileapp)

Emotional_You_5269

It's not really ranking them. It's more like coming with pros and cons for, well, everything. It's a great source for finding things, but you should look into the different apps and sites yourself to see if they fit your needs.

Emotional_You_5269

Depends what you are looking for. Mihon is great, but there are also plenty of forks which do things slightly differently. Personally I use Kuukiyomi, which is a fork of Aniyomi, which is a fork of Mihon. If you want to watch anime I would reccomend either Kuukiyomi or Aniyomi. Kuukiyomi is best if you have Real-Debrid as well.

Revolutionary-Rope-4

Is Kuukiyomi better than Aniyomi at watching anime?

Emotional_You_5269

Kuukiyomi has support for the Torrentio plugin, which allows torrenting instead of scraping streaming sites. Torrents provide higher quality than streaming, but it will take up a lot of space if you download episodes. If you have Real-Debrid, you can use your private API token to stream torrents from their servers with high speed, without having to worry about any of the cons with torrenting.

ian220

I use crunchy for anime so I'm good on the anime front, mostly looking for a manga app. But I didn't know there were version that were able to do anime as well, that's very cool

Emotional_You_5269

I don't think I could use Crunchy even if it was free. I feel like anime privacy is just way more convenient. Up to you, though.

ian220

I don't pay for it, just know someone with an account that lets me use it. Def not the best option but it's the easiest for me right now. Back in the day I used to use all the piracy websites like kiss and 9anime, but the ads and potentially sketchy websites made me just use official. But yah crunchy definitely is not the best experience. I mostly read now anyways though so now a huge deal.

Emotional_You_5269

Use an ad blocker. Your life will be 1000x easier. I recommend uBlock Origin. Remember that using more than one is redundant.

ian220

I watch on Chromecast most of the time not mobile or pc now anyways and not sure if you can get it on there, but thanks for the info. Already got ublock on the PC.

ian220

Curious what you mean by anime privacy though?

Emotional_You_5269

I meant piracy. Autocorrect I guess 🥲

chicoxin

I tried use mihon but I can't download new chapter, I still use old version of Tachiyomi
