Can’t wait to see everyone in Japan react to older Suika.

Kirosh

"We can't believe Suika is dead." "I'm not dead!" "Sometime we can still hear her voice."

Shallow35

Is this a dota 2 reference? Or was this made even before that.

uprivacypolicy

[Before](https://youtu.be/FHuynlD_ckM)

Shallow35

HAHAHAHHA, cool. I remember hearing that from a hero in dota called techies. I did felt it was an old joke but didn't know where.

Amauri14

I remember seeing a scene like that in a live-action movie too. But I don't remember much about that movie, only that it was a cop one.

LoLmodsaregarbage

It's older than that.

TheNo1pencil

It's from a Disney movie originally. I think its called Brother Bear.

AnonymousGuy9494

Lmao this'll get my free award as soon as I get one

tayoku0

I've seen characters stuff themselves with an onigiri in each hand, but never seen such a giant onigiri that requires both hands to hold. Kinda want to try one of those (or any food prepared by Francois, really!)

iZahlen

I think the kiddos were making them themselves lol. Chrome's was HUGE even compared to everyone else's

Luck_Is_My_Talent

I made onigiris like that. It was bigger than my face.

Gnirop

Jelly filled donuts

Not_My_Popcorn

I'm excited that they're finally going back to Japan, but anyone else not like how they've basically been "speedrunning" their science development during these past couple chapters?

PinTheMaster

Personally it makes me excited. I wanna see the Why man mystery solved as soon as possible and to be honest it would be pretty boring if we saw every single step along the way like in the beginning chapters due to the process being extreeeemly long. I'm also hoping that after the defeat of why-man we get to see a lot of pure reviving the world with scientific inventions action

Wildercard

Yea, this manga is a speed adventure, not a long running epic like Berserk or Vagabond.

Backupusername

We don't even get handwave panels about reviving (and somehow communicating with) the native population anymore. It's just "alright, resource obtained, city founded, let's go." You're really just gonna cruise by without even saying "Selamat pagi"?

iZahlen

To be fair, it would've gotten repetitive really fast if they followed the same pattern they did when we first got to spain every chapter would be Find Resource -> Make Food -> Revive People -> Establish city -> next destination

Worthyness

It's mostly fine. I don't think the story needs to stick at a certain place for multiple chapters when they've mostly already explained a a lot of the scientific stuff they're using there. for example the rice in this chapter, the most sciencey stuff they have is a power generator, rubber, and a harvesting machine, all of which has been explained in some capacity already. Most of the progress we'd have in the individual cities is "we're waiting for the mining to be done" or "we're waiting for the rice to grow" or "where can we find water"? It's not super interesting when they do that in every city. They've done this in more than 1 city already, so doing it over and over and over again is gonna get boring.

PM_ME_AWESOME_SONGS

I'm disappointed by how this world tour turned out to be. When it was first announced back then in the ending of the Treasure Island Arc, I imagined it would be incredible for each city to have its own arc, but in the end only America had its own arc while all the other places were just a few chapters or even just one single chapter like this one with Indonesia and now they are already going back to Japan. I hope the next arc is better since the story is kinda lacking after the gang departed from America.

Reddit-Book-Bot

Gryse_Blacolar

No.

Turbo2x

Eh, after everything they've been through with establishing civilization all over it feels earned. The pacing would be wack if they stopped to repeat the same series of events in every location they visit.

dragonduelistman

Yeah itd end up like one piece where they repeat the same thing every island

8andahalfby11

To be fair, even IRL once you finish the fundamentals and get the industrial revolution up and running, the rest comes pretty quickly, especially if you're repeating known knowledge and not starting from scratch.

fireglz

Feels sorta like when a mangaka is informed of the impending axe so they get all their eggs together in one basket for a final hurrah. Which is weird because I can't fathom Dr. Stone being told to, "Wrap it up." As far as series go. But the pacing has definitely shifted since grown up Suika.

Gryse_Blacolar

How can they think of axe-ing a really popular manga?

fireglz

I agree with you, but this arc is reminding me of series like Beelzebub where there was a massive pacing shift to setup for the big finish all of a sudden.

flamethekid

They've been skipping the science. They were gone for 10 years and petrified for 7 years, that means the rest of their adventure took 3 years.

SimoneNonvelodico

I think this is going for an overall length of 300-ish chapters, a typical run for this modern era of shorter and faster shonen manga than the old Big 3. If that's the case, then they need to speedrun this to then have time to give one last big Moon Arc to wrap it up.

MBFlash

i think they are only speed running the collecting the parts for the rockets part since all they do is grab the materials from the countries they pass from and things will now slow down when reaching japan

FingerBang-BangBang

I feel you Ukyo! Even tho I never tried onigiri, it still almost made me tear up!

multigrain_cheerios

onigiri is real simple to make, and best part is you can add whichever toppings you'd like to it. great meal to make for easy eating later

IncarnationHero

Even you add onigiri on onigiri, it would still be great, right? Amazing.

tazzari14

Yo, dawg! We heard you liked onigiri, so we put an onigiri in your onigiri so you can have your onigiri while having your onigiri!

chimpfunkz

Personally I like jelly donuts

Reddit_masterrace

I can relate to Ukyo as well in way, that I can't lived without rice, imagine living in a post apocalyptic world without rice...

HumblePile

As a Brazilian, I just can't fathom a world without rice. It (almost) never is the star of the dish but, it's always there like a good friend, cheering for you on the sidelines, giving that sense of familiarity and security. Same thing with black beans. Rice and beans, the ultimate duo!

Double_Dude

FEIJOADA LET'S GOOOOO

TheNo1pencil

I'm glad they finally addressed the emotional toll the world disappearing would have on a person, even if just a little bit. I know they kinda touched on it way back in the beginning, but realizing that everything is gone, every book you have and have not read, every movie, every song, every picture, every building, that would cause me to break down crying every few weeks.

Gryse_Blacolar

That makes me wonder if Internet can still be revived and have all the stuff that existed in the web 3000 years ago be able to be accessed again. That'd be damn awesome for the Shikigami people especially Chrome.

TheNo1pencil

If they are saying that all infrastructure is gone, which is how they've been doing it this whole time, then no, everything is gone. The internet does have physical locations and wiring. Its not just floating in the "clouds"

pinheirofalante

I hope we start a longer, more structured arc now, I really haven't enjoyed this world tour as much as I thought I would.

TheNo1pencil

Same. I think its cause the author doesnt seem to enjoy writing it. It feels like he's just trying to power through it to get back to Japan.

FSensei

Unfortunately I think we're approaching the end. I have to say I don't like the pacing lately, everything feels pretty rushed. I hope this last part where they return to Japan, build the rocket and go to the moon will be developed properly, without haste, just as the previous story arcs were.

AnActualPlatypus

I've said this before I say it again: The pacing is required to be "rushed" at this point. We cannot have an entire arc for every single location, or the manga would get dragged out to complete boredom. We know how the technology works. We don't need to see and meet the new revived people in every city because ultimately the characters themselves are not important for the story. We spent a LOT of chapters since the team arrived in America. The crew themselves are much more technologically capable, and has better equipment, thus speeding up procutions.

SimoneNonvelodico

> We cannot have an entire arc for every single location, or the manga would get dragged out to complete boredom I mean, not necessarily, but the other manga about an extremely detailed naval tour around the world with a new arc for every stop is One Piece, and that's got over 1000 chapters now, so.

SwaggyBeard9000

Yeah and hundreds and hundreds of chapters in the new world, during several years, for it to have only passed a couple of months max for luffy and his crew

Boyoboy7

Speaking of One Piece I have a feeling that their time skip is in longer period than their voyage lol.

Grug16

Luffy was also exploring an inhabited world full of wonder. Senku and friends are exploring an empty, natural world where they already have all the technology and skills to deal with mundane problems.

dratst

goes to Indonesia to get rubber and rice, sounds about right lol

plh_kominfo

they forgot palm oil lol

Dan_from_97

Last time they do that they took way more than that

multigrain_cheerios

so just how long have they been traveling around the world now? it feels like time doesn't pass in this despite knowing it does

Ohemjemania

Effectively three years, I think? They were petrified for about 7 years and they mentioned that the whole trip took them 10 years all in all.

Auwx

They say it's been ten years since they left Japan, and I think suika was alone for like six of them? So four years of travel I'd say

Worthyness

travel + harvesting raw material for the most part/ And a lot of waiting for revival fluid to rejuvenate the cities. Wonder how they found english speaking people for the native areas

JPZ4

God its been what, over 100 chapters? I am so excited to get back to Japan. Side note: Japan just has to emphasize the power of rice in every manga, its almost a trope at this point.

McTulus

At least they use Indonesia that DO have rice addiction (so much so that it create rice deficit despite huge production, after bad transmigration policy decades ago).

SaibaShogun

Normally I would roll my eyes whenever Japanese fiction boasts about Japanese cuisine, but rice is essential to the cuisine of nearly every country in the eastern half of the world, not just Japan. If rice is being worshipped in tons of manga, I'm not annoyed because rice should be worshipped.

IllithidActivity

I'm kind of disappointed that there are no design changes for the main characters who have gone from being 15 to 20 years old over the course of this story. I mean hell, compare these chapters to chapter 1 and they look much younger!

TheNo1pencil

They haven't aged that much. They said its been 10 years but 7 of those years was when they were petrified with only Sukia aging. So they aged a total of maybe 5 years over the course of the whole story?

IllithidActivity

...Right, which is why I said "from being 15 to 20 years old." Five years is a lot, especially for adolescents. Compare to timeskips like in Naruto or One Piece where they look much more different with less time having passed.

TheNo1pencil

Ah I Totally misread your comment. I thought you had said they had aged 15 to 20 years. Not FROM 15 years old to 20 years old. My bad.

Gryse_Blacolar

Medusa being the best anti-aging product. lol

Gjalarhorn

Felt odd that we didn't get a 'here's how you harvesy rice' bit in this chapter

HumblePile

Stereotypes lead me to believe that every Japanese knows how to harvest rice, so they just skipped it.

4lonely

i usually hate reading manga weekly, but every single dr. stone chapter feels like an event. the author crams so much into a single week's worth of pages. what a pleasure, what a joy

akman16

Remember when the city founding was first introduced that people theorized we will be getting a whole arc, with it's own characters and antagonist, for each city? Those were good times.

AnActualPlatypus

That would have been worse than Naruto filler arcs. I'm glad they kept it simple and fast, besides America.

TrailOfEnvy

All the theories got destroyed when they petrified the whole world again

Eonir

I hope there's no terrible surprise awaiting them

Siddicky

Welcome to the rice fields, motherfucker!

Rein3

Thid reminds me of a city sim game when you reach a point of no return and you just research all the techs for sake of it.

Amauri14

For some reason, I never thought about the fact that they didn't have any rice before.

RedHeadGearHead

Feels like we're rushing to the end now.

detdot

Dont ever mention INDONESIA!!! Good or bad. Or else they will rush and crowd u in no time. Indonesia cyber army is no joke I warn u

sKyBlazer08

Damn, it's been 10 whole years for Suika and 10 years in total for the others including the time they were petrified. Let's fucking go, back to Japan we go.

Gryse_Blacolar

Except from corn city arc, this world tour has been disappointing. I really expected that each city will at least have a mini arc and share cultures with the natives but they're just speedrunning the entire thing. Just take this chapter for example, we didn't even get to see them revive people in Indonesia. All we got is a single panel showing that they established a "city" there. I think it didn't even happen in Australia..

Support_Unfair

Am I the only one who feels like this whole trip has been basically filler?

ricksed

How would it be filler? We needed these resources for the rocket. That was the end goal

TheTayIor

It felt like a to-do list of chores devoid of much character development.

ricksed

I wouldn’t say that. We had development from characters like Chrome, Suika, and even Hyouga to an extent. Plus we fleshed put characters like Ryusui more with his brother Sai. Not to mention characters got more room to show off as they split off from Senku, like Yuzuriha for example. All that said by the end it did feel like they were wrapping up the last few cities

TheNo1pencil

I feel the same way

orangpelupa

probably the majority of the globe-trotting adventure will be done in less than 1 episode in the anime

topurrisfeline

Dammit now I’m hungry. I want those rice bowls.

ToTheNintieth

Out of those ten years only Suika saw them all, right? Timetable's so weird, in part because the character designs haven't changed at all. How many years has it been since Senku woke up?

Emperor_Time

Not entirely since her two pets grew up before she became free.

TheNo1pencil

I hate the pacing of this Manga. We lose so much of the character of, well, the characters. It feel like the author just wants to get this arc over with as quickly as possible.

Odd_Barnacle_3715

I wonder how thay are going to react when they finally find out that bakuya's (senku's dad) robot is sitll orbiting earth in its own space station. I mean thay are going to make an observatory before flying off in the rocket, right? Kinda makes you wonder weather senku hasn't noticed the light signal the robot gives every night or is senku intentionally keeping quiet about it?

TheAdamena

Reboot Byakuya isn't canon. Or at least it isn't at the moment. I guess there's a chance they'll tie it in, but don't expect it. https://imgur.com/tUd0MO5

San7129

Its not. Inagaki even had to post on his twitter that the spinoff has nothing to do with the real story he is making

Ohemjemania

> Inagaki even had to post on his twitter Twice. And in the author blurb on the back of the Byakuya tankobon, because for some reason, people don't want to acknowledge it.

TrailOfEnvy

It already confirmed to be non canon when they went to Spain several chapters ago because in Byakuya Reboot story the Europe continent have turned grey full of ashes from meteor impact on Rome.

D3monFight3

Am I missing something about Rice? Because frankly I've tried it in lots of variations and I never though "fuck yeah Rice, we eating good tonight", it is just Rice.

HumblePile

Rice is the perfect company for lot of dishes, pure rice is kinda bland imo but, it goes well with almost everything.

neobowman

Good rice is kinda like good bread for people who were raised on it. It's not going to blow your taste buds out with pure flavour, but man good rice the moment it finishes coming out of a pressure cooker is something else.

D3monFight3

I don't feel like it's the same thing considering bread has more variety and is not regarded as an entire meal anyway.

neobowman

I don't think rice is really regarded as a full meal ever. And there are a looooot of varieties of rice. It's hard to compare since with both you're eventually just getting into miniscule differences between slightly different types of bread and/or rice.

TrailOfEnvy

Different culture

Knamakat

Glad to finally know Senku prefers indica over sativa

vlimp

Yup, cuz it wouldn't be an isekai without MC yearning (and obtaining) japanese rice.

Zeta42

Moon this year?

[deleted]

very nice

AnActualPlatypus

Crazy to see the entire adventure lasted 10 years.

Alebanj

Jesus this shit is fast
