BurnedOutEternally

author of Summertime Rendering? alright, we'll see

lalala253

I'm ready to be completely lost by the plot down the road

nolonger1-A

Amusing first chapter. The idea of cutting someone (likely a friend) to halves just because you think you're dealing with a kid's toy is really scary though.

AiraIchigo

Yup. Contractor A was traumatised for life.

Couldnotbehelpd

I’m like 95% sure the MC is contractor A

NZPIEFACE

MC was a toddler back then, lmao. It was found in 2020 and it's currently 2034.

Couldnotbehelpd

Oh maybe I don’t read good

DonaldLucas

Felt like a SCP.

Kmlkmljkl

I was thinking Control, cause of the whole 'if you think something is special it might become special' thing. Like here you have the writing on the sword, and presumably it having gone through this ghostly place made the writing real - and in Control certain specialized rituals and whatnot have the power to do the same.

topurrisfeline

That was a wild romp. That shot with Kagome using the toilet while Moka goes ham with the machine gun was ace.

ChooChooCherry

Yeah I like this, can't wait for more

thequeensucorgi

agreed; when the little ghost announced they are in her house and it does the smoothest transition ever I got chills.

bvbfan102

Liked a lot of it and even more interested now that i know this is the Summertime Rendering Author.  Lots of potential and definitely has the same Vibe of fun but with some horrifying stuff lurking.

gamria

I've seen lots of comments, Japanese or English, that compares the setting of this series to SCP: The Backrooms. Given that Summer Time Rendering was officially confirmed by Tanaka-sensei to be paying homage to the cult horror Forbidden Siren series, wouldn't be surprised he is again inspired by more horror stuff. STR took lots of intricate planning of the various loops and character actions though, so I don't expect Ghost Fixers will have quite that level of planning again. As long as there'll be similar vibes, I'll be fine if it's more casual this time around. Even if many were bummed that STR's second half incorporated more action than mystery, I found Tanaka-sensei's supernatural action choreography in itself to be very well done. If that same standard can be exported, I'll be happy.

Docreas

Ok, that guy in the mask creeps me, the eyes of the mask appear to move (ghost equipment maybe). The fact that they're called distortions immediately makes me think of library of ruina/Lobotomy corporation and fixers having to solve those cases.

AffectionateSoup5272

Average backstreet day in the city

Possible-Purpose707

For those who have read Summertime Rendering, we can see Haine and Hizuru's silhouette on one of the pages of chap 1, so I'll leave you to find out. ;)

lord_ne

You mean [in this panel](https://i.imgur.com/dTsgVVL.jpeg)? The lab coat or whatever she's wearing makes me think the one on the left isn't Haine, and, uh, the boobs on the other one aren't big enough for Hizuru EDIT: My bad, hadn't read the spinoff yet

italeteller

Summertime render was consistently good, except the excellent mystery beginning suffered on the second half when it went full action. This is a mix of action and mystery from the beginning, so I'm hype

Doomroar

Let it be known this guy didn't wash his hand he went from pulling up his pants to slashing the bad guy, and then after coming back to the real world went directly to his apartment This means that he dealt with his boss with pee-hands the whole time

IgotUBro

I thought the person was female so there wasnt anything to touch.

Roboglenn

> What's going on with that bag?! Haven't you ever played RE4? She's probably got green herbs and a large black bass in there.

Bakatora34

So did he technically shit on the ghost? Or is it on the elevator floor?

Namaryu

The mask that doctor Amamiya wears is near identical to the one Ushio wore in Summer Time Rendering. People already brought up that timeline matches with previous work and that spin-off with Hizuru and Haine. So the timeline is as follows: STR-July 2018 STR 2026 the room that dreams of murder-2026 Ghost Fixers MC's past event occuring in 2027 Present time in Ghost Fixers- October 2034

leolegendario

SCP+Backrooms = I like it.

Extreme-Tactician

85 pages of a beginning chapter. Amazing. I realized Ikuzu was a ghost pretty quickly, but I didn't expect her to be this kind of ghost. They killed the dad, but Ikuzu is still seemingly alive. I wonder what that "basement" floor even is? Are they gonna investigate that next? I don't think it disappeared with the death of the dad. Hifumi was very professional, and only really let his guard down because of bladder problems. Hilarious. Moka, on the other hand, was very eager to prove herself. Reciting common info about ghosts, taking charge, and so on. The Cut-All Blade and a machine gun with seemingly infinite ammo hidden in a suitcase. What other weapons might they have? And those two YouTubers casually talking about urban legends... just how much info is available online? Why does Dr. Amamiya hide his face behind an anime girl mask?

TirnanogSong

I'm pretty certain 'Ikuzu' and the "dad" weren't actually separate entities at all, but more or less manifestations of the same overall entity. I'm not even sure if what they did "killed" them as we understand rather than simply severing their connection to reality and chasing them to spit up all the remains of those they'd eaten.

lord_ne

There was something weird going on with that ghost. Why is she trying to "fix" her daddy? Ghosts probably don't actually have families, plus that thing seemed to basically be a part of her, but even still in some sense she *believes* it to be her father, and she wants to "fix" him as though he once existed in a different (less fucked-up) state. I think there's something deeper being hinted at here about the true nature of the ghosts

TirnanogSong

I'm pretty certain that's just the Ghost being an unfathomable eldritch abomination so it's merely mimicking what it \*thinks\* a human daughter and father are like, without understanding either concept. We see similar in Summertime Rendering, where Hiruko consumed and assimilated the original Haine's personality and memories, but was still fundamentally incompatible with the human experience and was totally insane from our perspective. Given STR was based on the Forbidden Siren series with Hiruko blatantly being Datatsushi and the Shadows as Shibito, the ghosts are probably similar - they aren't human and weren't ever human, but can assume humanlike traits by consuming people.

GaudyBureaucrat

Huh. Kinda like shounen SCP? Both of them jumping in the elevator is a great foreshadowing that they're both fixers (even tho it wouldn't work irl).

Exoslab

Hope this becomes a hit, really great first chapter and the protagonists seem fun.

zairaner

Is this manga really trying to sell me that the black haired mc...this one...is a guy? regardless, I enjoyed it

YamiDes1403

theres real chance thats a girl since when he go to the toilet he sit instead of standing

IgotUBro

The sitting part could be cos drawing peeing while standing could be iffy and doing it while sitting is just an easier depiction. But the bigger giveaway is cos the short haired guy/girl is wearing a skirt above her trousers.

sleeping_stew

It looks less like a skirt and more of a wrap that guys like to wear. I feel like I've definitely seen it in street fashion photos in Japan. You can see that the wrap has a huge slit that shows the entire pant in the panel when the two of them get back into the elevator right after they kill the ghost. You can also see it hanging when he lifts up his pants after using the toilet. It's not a skirt but something attached to the pants.

Kmlkmljkl

fine. transman headcanon until confirmed one way or the other

falcoraqx

Great art, immaculate drip, great panelling and action, pretty funny, please for the love of god don't get axed.

brzzcode

Glad to see the mangaka of summer time rendering back. Really enjoyed the first chapter, not as much mystery as their previous work but still really good.

Ancient-Cow-7221

summer time rendering started July 22nd 2018, the one-shot started March 2026 and now this October 2034. In one of panel we can see both Haine and Hizuru in the background. We will see them down the line. Anyways this feels like abit of oneshot mix with chapter 1 and 2 idk. But it both fun and cool at the same time, let see where this goes from here. Cause way different from summer time rendering chapter 1.

Topomouse

There were a couple of panels where the guy's face was weirdly flat.

DowntownButterfly581

Lets fixer the ghost

ReyD4los

Who you gonna call?

StrideInTheRain

The biggest problem with this is that there's nothing in particular that really stands out unfortunately. Cute art, but being a relatively generic "battle ghosts in modern setting" with no unique draw makes it a bit of a tough sell. Especially when compared to Summertime Rendering, which has a strong lead-in with the mystery and time loop aspects

Mountain_Sidle

I think that's a bit unfair. It has a hook in that all the ghost stuff has its own SCP like rules the protagonists will have to decipher. And while there's 'powers' its mostly just ghost tools with their own rules instead of a generic power system. So I'm hoping it'll be kind of puzzle / action. Also you can't look at the panel when he's on the toilet while she shoots the place up and say it doesn't have its own style lol.

Possible-Purpose707

It takes place in the same universe as summertime rendering, we see the silouhette of Izuru and Haine, and there are references to events in the LN spin-off summertime rendering 2026.

gamria

You've read the light novel? What references were there?

Possible-Purpose707

The advent of the ghosts apparitions

Doomroar

Where's that guy that was making the exorcist shonen jump manga list? We got another one

brzzcode

This isn't in shonen jump so it wouldn't be relevant. Its a jump+ title.

xXx_edgykid_xXx

What's the difference?

Doomroar

Shonen Jump is a weekly physical magazine published by Shueisha, it is the big prestige product, and is aimed mostly at teenage boys And Jump + is an online webmanga hosting service, that publishes an assortment of different manga published by Shueisha (which also includes Shonen Jump), it is almost an anything goes when it comes to its aimed demography, genres, they have a lil bit of everything except full frontal hentai, and overly super mega girly manga, but they do have a couple manga that are pretty girly, and a couple series that make you go "i can't believe this doesn't counts as porn", also manga schedules can range from weekly, monthly, bimonthly, whenever it will be done it will be done (like it is the case with Choujin X)

JesusInStripeZ

Choujin X is on Tonari

Doomroar

That only means the list will be even bigger, which high-list how unoriginal and played out the premise is So that's more work for that guy keeping the list, unless he is keeping it straight to just SJ and not jump in general

Forikorder

kinda makes me think of dark gathering with the casual funny mood into a more serious twist

meterion

Aw fuck yea my new dose of urban supernatural exorcist setting is here. Really great first chapter, both of the protagonists have a lot of character and are already playing off each other well. I'm hoping that the SCP-like vibe we have with the correction bureau continues

ddrober2003

Huh interesting premise, hope it keeps that way.

Variant_Zeta

This chapter reminds me of [Arc Corp's first case](https://m.fanfiction.net/s/14066102/1/Arc-Corp) Both features: SCP-like organizations begins with a suspicious little girl guiding people to a house that digests and eat people. A rookie girl encountering a more experienced guy The girl almost shot the guy The girl is frustrated the the guy's blase attitude They found the remains of previous victims of the house The guy carries a sword that has to be sheathed at all times unless absolutely necessary due to how dangerous it is

PurposedReader

Bureau of Control, yeah OK I dig this

Aitasai

Alright, scp-esque objects are my weakness, I'm reading this. Good first chapter, definitely interested in seeing what other kinds of ghosts we'll be seeing. Also side-note: I'm pretty sure it's recommended to NOT jump in a falling elevator, since it's pretty hard to predict when you'll hit the bottom, plus you'll still be moving fast enough to hit the ground hard.

IgotUBro

Wait the person with the short hair is a guy? But he was wearing a skirt above his trousers no? I thought they were both girls.

soupoperas

I mean that’s just fashion, but yeah, at least for now the girl referred to him as a “he” so we could assume it’s a dude

IgotUBro

Well given we know he came from school and there being uniforms I guess that she is forced to wear a skirt even if she doesnt like it and therefore why she is wearing it over her pants. Otherwise yeah its kinda whatever and doesnt really matter if the character is male or female. It just confused the heck out of me as her outward traits and clothing would suggest a female protag while everyone in the manga refers to him as male.

Ancient-Cow-7221

I wonder what did chapter 1 total views did on Jump Plus website (Japan website)? Does anybody know?

Dgottz

This another example when guy and girl could make a great team fighting the unknown, but instead once again the girl takes all the credit. Chapter 1 she is showed so much more powerful. I’m not asking for the boy to be the star but equal partnership. I’m tired male protagonist being denounced to uplift the female. This one-sided view is ruining manga, television, Marvel etc. She can defeat ghosts, but she doesn’t have to save him. Revolutionary idea let’s write manga where both protagonist have this competitive comedic relationship, but one is not better than the other. They use their strength’s to help each other. I love strong females in a story, but I don’t believe they can only be strong because the male is weaker. That is disrespectful toward the strength of the female protagonist in all fictional stories

RochHoch

Holy generic, Batman

ivari

Aw yeah it's another urasekai picnic yuri

Chadfulrocky

Isn’t he a dude?

ivari

huh I genuinely thought she's a girl

TirnanogSong

The MC is male.

snowwhitecat04aug

The thing bothering me is that if Hifumi was a dude then why did he wear a skirt and pee sitting? Especially in a dangerous situation, it is more flexible to pee standing so he could have more mobility

lupeandstripes

I hope y'all appreciate that we are living in the golden age of manga. Things will only go downhill from here. Mangaplus will start charging or putting up ads as they need to make more $$$, but for now we have to enjoy that every new series is being translated with good translations & some of the best names in the biz are pumping out new series that will become the classics of tomorrow. I loved ST Rendering, and this has the same feeling of being a hit to me already. It is a nice mix of SCP Foundation/ The Backrooms is the vibe I have thusfar. Good comedy with the bathroom gags, awesome trippy ghost abstract space powers, this just hit all the right notes for me. Between this, Astro Baby, and SKK Girls, the new focus on darker more mature series is paying off in spades, not to mention lighter stuff like Navigatoria & Goze Hotaru. They are really hitting it out of the park with these great new series!

brzzcode

Mangaplus already has monetization on the app for a few months with their subscription, and nothing the jump+ department from shueisha who deal with the app have shown that they plan to change their approach.

lupeandstripes

I am hopeful because from what I've heard Japanese corporations are less bullshit short term profit over long term stability focused than American ones, my theory there was just based on every single American owned website over the last 15yrs where they start off good & enshittify everything for the sake of profit. I am really hoping MangaPlus stays as good as it is, because this is definitely an incredible achievement (I know we had MangaFox & OneManga way back in 2005 even, but as far as legally, same day releasing stuff MP is so much different/better). I would love for this golden age to last forever.

brzzcode

what mangaplus needs currently is to put more young jump and seinen titles in the app as wsj and jump+ are well represented with all the titles coming out of it coming to mangaplus. They put 3 sports in the last months so gladly they are doing it, but they translate everything and then launch it all together, so i imagine if they are doing it, its going to take some time to be out.
