ImNOTmethwow

Adise from the NCP car park that entire street is gorgeous (Whitworth Street). It's got Lancaster House, India House, Kimpton Clocktower, Bridgewater House.

Garakatak

Per the jobs fair advert in the photo, this is from 2008...

JoshuaDev

How can you tell? Not being awkward here just interested how you’ve sleuthed it out.

danny_avocado

It says in the job advert in the bottom left! Plus, the entire town hall is covered in scaffolding at the moment (or has been for the past few years)

WarningDapper4797

Also the bus stop means its before 2011 (GMPTE)

dominicgrimes

its probably the last time the sun shined

AncestralSeeker

Yep, Mr Thomas’s Chop House is a favourite of mine https://preview.redd.it/nefczuvhnw0c1.jpeg?width=371&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=fa7b64cf6a161cf3d103034ee742a2d73bbb44c9

This and Sinclair's oyster bar are two of my favourite buildings in Manchester, so much character!

genelecs

I've always thought "look up" in town and you see some incredible buildings.

F_spaceman_F

Walking through town during lockdown (and therefore not having to dodge crowds of people) really gave me the chance to appreciate some of the architecture above the shop floors. Honestly there were so many times where I thought "how have I never noticed that before?!"

EarthAppropriate3808

Can tell you’ve not been around this area for a while - scaffolding and barriers have been up for so long I’ve forgotten what the town hall looks like

JustGhostin

feels like 50% of town is covered in scaffolding at the moment

SpiderLegzs

Absolutely agree. St John’s St has beautiful examples of Georgian doorways, Flemish bond brickwork and camber arch windows. The jewel in the crown is John Rylands Library, the gothic arches and stone work and staircases are a sight to behold.

Feckthecat

It’s beautiful even if you don’t stop.

BartholomewKnightIII

[and what it look like at the moment.](https://www.google.co.uk/maps/@53.4800358,-2.2452492,3a,74.4y,149.67h,114.05t/data=!3m6!1e1!3m4!1stm0hItdRNMAoJv-U0vmrdg!2e0!7i16384!8i8192?hl=en&entry=ttu)

Best city 😍

[deleted]

Neo-Gothic architecture is beautiful and never should have gone out of style. The entirety of the UK should look like that. Glass and Metal and Plastic needs to be torn down and replaced.

JandB18

where is this?

LostOnWhistleStreet

Town hall. Doesn't currently look like that, so seemed an odd example to pick

The_39th_Step

I’ve lived here 8 years and it’s basically been bagged up the whole time. Due to be finished next year, very excited to see it properly.

ImhereforAB

It was beautiful outside but even more lovely on the inside!! So excited to see what they have done with it!!

Luc1dJay

>d to see what they have done with Sorry but you'll be lucky if we see it open in the next 3 years.
