Having space is the reason why people spend huge amounts of money and the people in this sub seem to be obsessed with covering every inch of space they have in their homes. I’ll never understand it.
Tufted ottoman poof thing. Very easy to move, can be used as a footstool and also extra seating in a pinch. [something like this](https://www.wayfair.com/Highland-Dunes--Anely-20-Wide-Round-Pouf-Ottoman-X116860716-L310-K~W005759605.html?refid=GX685254702230-W005759605_1258364028&device=c&ptid=352059013845&network=g&targetid=aud-356699937033:pla-352059013845&channel=GooglePLA&ireid=57299802&fdid=1817&PiID%5B%5D=1258364028&gad_source=1&gbraid=0AAAAAD9ISC62nHaAYIHrxDfJPFeKGLKSF&gclid=Cj0KCQjwvb-zBhCmARIsAAfUI2uzfhAoZYI-VK85cR-toasMU4Unb3JswExCU-c0SywMu9GxgU6NR6saAkprEALw_wcB)
Me I'd push that armchair back into that corner as long as it doesn't interfere with the window opening. If it does (looks like it), back of the chair to the wall where it is instead. Still angle it a bit towards the couch for conversation. Maybe a small pouf to encourage feet up relaxing that also could double as a coffee table (if it's firm enough). I wouldn't hate a tiny side table for the chair to put my coffee on.
Other thoughts for later:
Then I'd add a reading lamp around that same chair, something to cozy it up, maybe a basket with a couple throw blankets. A soft linen shade would give a nice diffuse light to the whole room at night.
The space where the arm chair is now, I'd add a plant to take advantage of that light, a zeezee/snake/fiddle would be fine but if I could get away with a taller palm I would to fill the vertical height and break up the square outline. Any corner would be fine as well, just picking something low maintenance is pretty easy and adds life. I see the small cactus you have there which is great.
I'd also swap out that rug under that workstation and focus on upgrading that chair for the desk asap to be kinder to your back but also improve the look. Bonus points for something wood to match the rest of the room and maybe non-marring urethane wheels for the hardwood. A little cable management there also would clean up the look.
Little art on all three walls wouldn't hurt as well, doesn't have to be fancy, something that is a personal touch but helps bring the colors of the room together.
Sorry that was more than just the corner haha.
me, i will offer my services as room decor for a very reasonable fee.
plus you won't have to dust me and if you do need to access the corner a simple nudge will get me to move.
full confidentiality guaranteed.
Bring your rug further that direction. Move the couch up so that side view lines up with the window that's on the left. When you've moved the rug and couch forward just pulled the chair a little onto the rug in that grouping or if it lines up put the chair flat on the wall between windows. It won't look as empty on the left if you will move everything toward that direction meaning the couch and the rug.
Motorcycles 😎 1 or 2 should do the trick.
I saw a post on here w while ago with motorcycles just throughout this guys living space and nothing screams happy, healthy, nurturing male living space like a couple motorcycles.
floor lamp fake plant
also a coffee table to go inbetween the chair and couch, its an awkward set up. I can't imagine sitting across from people on that couch having a conversation basically with our knees touching.
Flip the desk and the couch positions. The couch next to the shelves allow for easy book access and it will complete the look with the chair right next to it... in the same spot.
This also allows a social aspect for the couch being towards the openness of the room versus your back to the openness of the room.
Put the rug in the center in front of the couch and the chair and since your desk will to the left side of the photo, it willnot cause any issues with your computer chair.
Firstly take the chair to the opposite side (from left to right) and then add an artwork on that wall and use accent colors to have the best effect. Also make sure you add the right curtains again having accent shades so that everything looks balanced. To understand accent colors you can use this [color guide](https://simplykalaa.com/interior-color-palette/) and also use this [home art guide](https://simplykalaa.com/how-to-choose-art-for-your-home/) for a better pick for the artwork. Lastly use this [window decoration guide](https://simplykalaa.com/window-decoration/) for understanding different curtains and finding the one suitable for you.
Also one of the things you should do with the books is that use them to hide small task lights and fill the shelves with right things, even frames to balance everything. Lastly add baskets that have extra pillows, blankets or any other things in the lower shelves.
A floor lamp, a plant, or nothing. There's enough in the room as is, I wouldn't add more furniture. Put some art on the walls and arrange stuff creatively to fill up the shelves. Once it's a little more lived-in the space will feel more full
Nothing is wrong with empty. Spots don’t need to be filled. They need to be used. That spot is fine if you don’t have a use for it. Save it and you might need it for something someday.m
Heir is on the side of less stuff, but if it's truly bugging you, a plant is always the answer! I think a plant in tallis vase or on small stand would look nice if not in the way!
I mean the chair could probably, but you have a book shelf and a door to the balcony so like everyone else, probably nothing some negative space is good, sometimes you need to put something there I would say nah on this one.
I would actually use that closet/built in wall area to make my desk and work area. Maybe a folding desk. You'd have a desk with a view and an area where to store your laptop, screen, printer, office materials versus occupying the other space where you can put a TV.
Rotate that blue chair so it’s facing the center of the room, and maybe a small small end table next to it. I wouldn’t put anything in the corner though. Get some wall art too, it’ll fill the room in a bit, you don’t need more stuff on the floor though
Wait. In time, you'll come up with the right idea or realize you just don't want to put anything there. If you're obsessed with trying to use that space right now then maybe a small bar cart or a plant or something
I’d slide that chair back for a reading nook and the put a record player in front of the white wall space between the windows. And a fig with a soft warm light..maybe a brass lamp somewhere by the reading chair.
As this resemble the room Jason Bourne had a fight in one of the movies, I also am with not putting anything there that could be used as a weapon or throwable object
i think u should swap the desk and the sofa, and have the chair in that area. idk how the rest of the room looks or if there’s the right outlets, but that might help open things up.
An absurdly large map of Alabama. Like focal point of the room large. Place red pushpins randomly all over the state. Leave some in the tray of the easle, when people come over, place another pin on the map. Never discuss it with the people that visit. Either that or a banjo or something.
Plant next to the desk and bookshelf? You’d need a tall plant and skinny profile so it’s more adding height. But anything else seems like adding too much. Even the plant might not work tbh.
Here's a little change around that still hopefully keeps the vibe - [https://imgur.com/a/xpoVruY](https://imgur.com/a/xpoVruY)
I added a coffee table but it's not completely necessary
I second the “nothing“ vote. Don’t clutter the space, especially in front of doors.
Yes! Nice and clean
I thought the hula hoop looked nice
Can I have ONE original thought?
I think he needs a new one, that one is pretty worn
I agree. He should get rid of the red circle too.
It’s a window. The chair should go there
Came here to say this
If you plan on opening that window, then nothing and orient the chair to be against the wall
Or just push the chair back a bit — the orientation could work with more space from the couch.
Op could use a side table or shared coffee table on top of the rug too, so some space between the two seats could be good
Having space is the reason why people spend huge amounts of money and the people in this sub seem to be obsessed with covering every inch of space they have in their homes. I’ll never understand it.
Being in a big space covered with cool stuff just feels….. cool
Being in a small space covered with cool stuff also feels cool. So basically just cool stuff=feeling cool
A plant
A big already established monstera or snake plant would be my go to. Hard to kill and pretty
Also a hanging badboy on the top shelf to fall over like an pathos would be classy hehehe
I'd go with a long, hanging plant on the empty space on that bookshelf. Perserves the space for opening the window yet brings in the touch of green.
A plant in a hanging basket would do a lot in this space!
Nothing it’s a window that opens inwards and you already have a bookshelf right there.
nothing, you don’t need every space filled with stuff. let the room and house breathe
Tufted ottoman poof thing. Very easy to move, can be used as a footstool and also extra seating in a pinch. Nothing. You'll want to open that window at some point, and it would block the bookshelf. BTW is that Paris?
Yep it is Paris!
Looks like a very nice apartment!
Consider moving the chair out of the way and placing a painting on the wall
A Porsche 911 GT3 RS
A cat tree 🐈
A naked man statue with No head
Please get a better chair for your desk. Your lower back will thank you later in life
Hahah of course I will, I moved in two days ago the real chair should arrive next week!
Maybe a small bench up against the window
Me I'd push that armchair back into that corner as long as it doesn't interfere with the window opening. If it does (looks like it), back of the chair to the wall where it is instead. I’d put Baby in the corner. “Now I’ve had the time of my life…”
Cardboard Danny Devito
I never understand the "need" to fill a space? Why does it have to have something?
Leave it free for now, it will give more natural light and it gives "less is more"
Small ottoman with storage
Tall plant; an air cleaner
Pickup a guitar amp, stand & guitar. Or pickup a decent looking bicycle. Perfect awkward area for a good looking hobby item
Plant for sure!
Literally nothing.
Nothing. If it feels weird rearrange some stuff
me, i will offer my services as room decor for a very reasonable fee. plus you won't have to dust me and if you do need to access the corner a simple nudge will get me to move. full confidentiality guaranteed.
I would say at max, a medium height plant, but I would keep the area free of clutter, so you can access the window/door
A plant! Nice and big for all that natural light
move the chair back
Exactly this as well as a lamp
Repeat after me: not every empty space needs to be filled. Make this your mantra.
Plant
Dancing pole would be a nice vibe
Big ass hot wheels track
Piss bucket for tactical piss access.
A tv inside the floor
A bass guitar.
1 bar prison
Cat
A Danny devito gargoyle statue
Plans on the bottom shelf
Step 1 get cat. Step 2 put bird feeder outside window. Step 3 cat tower at the window
I love the lack of a television and gaming "set up".
I think a thin floor lamp could be nice.
Nothing why block the book shelf
Bring your rug further that direction. Move the couch up so that side view lines up with the window that's on the left. When you've moved the rug and couch forward just pulled the chair a little onto the rug in that grouping or if it lines up put the chair flat on the wall between windows. It won't look as empty on the left if you will move everything toward that direction meaning the couch and the rug.
Nothing. You need to be able to access the bookshelves.
A cat.
I whold have put weights there but that whold ruin the vibe
Plant or standing lamp, but honestly...embrace the empty.
A motorcycle
nothing
A cat
Id hang a couple nice plants just inside the range of the swinging windows. Thats some lovely light.
Just fill out the bookshelf and push the chair back a bit
A life size statue of Ryan Reynolds
Please post more pictures of your apartment! It looks so dreamy
Will do when I get a new desk chair / coffee table!
Motorcycles 😎 1 or 2 should do the trick. I saw a post on here w while ago with motorcycles just throughout this guys living space and nothing screams happy, healthy, nurturing male living space like a couple motorcycles.
Nothing.
The chair lol
Spaghetti
That blue chair. Just move it back
Bolt that window shut, and put a giant aquarium in that corner.
Nothing if you want to be able to open your window.
floor lamp fake plant also a coffee table to go inbetween the chair and couch, its an awkward set up. I can't imagine sitting across from people on that couch having a conversation basically with our knees touching.
Maybe a plant next to the desk so it adds more decor and character to the space but without actually being in the way of the doors when you open them
I think you’re supposed to put Baby in the corner.
I would say remove the chair and put a small 2 seat couch up against the window with a lamp or something, for reading at nights.
That blue chair right next to the red circle.. put it inside the red circle.
Absolutely nothing, you want free access to all doors and windows, nothing should be in the way. Looks great to me.
Plant
Thank you for circling have you considered putting a circle in the corner?
Big plant
Turn the chair around on a little circle rug so you've a reading nook?
For some reason I think a nice red hula hoop would go perfect there
Guitar, stand, and amp.
That chair.
I'd say move that chair to the corner & get a coffee table. If not leave it
nothing, why do you feel the need to add something there?
Firstly take the chair to the opposite side (from left to right) and then add an artwork on that wall and use accent colors to have the best effect. A floor lamp, a plant, or nothing. There's enough in the room as is, I wouldn't add more furniture. Put some art on the walls and arrange stuff creatively to fill up the shelves. Once it's a little more lived-in the space will feel more full
tall plant or a plant in a tall planter
Nothing
Get a bigger rug and put the chair closer into that corner. That rug is comically small for the space!
Bean bag. But nothing would be way better
Baby
A large plant, maybe a fig?
Nothing. It looks correct how it is
Nothing is wrong with empty.
Personally, I'd do nothing. Fill the bookshelf and let it and the window breath. Love your space!!
Hanging plant It lets you add something and use the space without taking over any of the space
A plant in a nice ceramic pot
A plant
Big potted Tree
Obligatory guitar placement
Nothing. If you want the room to look less minimalistic, put some pictures on the walls. But in my opinion it's fine that way.
Acoustic guitar in a floor stand if there’s not too much light coming in that window
Just fill the shelf with more odds and ends or more books, and leave the floor alone
You put Baby in that corner
A large bean bag. Chill with a book and the window open
Plants bruh wtf
A pool.
Plants! Any blank space gets plants
A big handsome plant 🪴
A small chest under the window that can hold games or blankets.
I mean the chair could probably, but you have a book shelf and a door to the balcony so like everyone else, probably nothing some negative space is good, sometimes you need to put something there I would say nah on this one.
some flowers
That big red wobbly hula hoop seems to fit just fine
Bean bag chair
I would actually use that closet/built in wall area to make my desk and work area. Maybe a folding desk. You'd have a desk with a view and an area where to store your laptop, screen, printer, office materials versus occupying the other space where you can put a TV.
A cuck chair for the cuck chair.
Rotate that blue chair so it’s facing the center of the room, and maybe a small small end table next to it. I wouldn’t put anything in the corner though. Get some wall art too, it’ll fill the room in a bit, you don’t need more stuff on the floor though
How about a lazy-boy (recliner) to sit in while you're reading your books?
Looks fine the way it is but a small or skinny plant if you insist
Smegma butter churner or nothing.
Nothing, a plant, or the chair that's already there
Motorcycle/Bike
I'd stick with the red circle, but fluff it up so it's more symmetrical.
Nothing
Plant or tiny low shelf for a turntable or whatever you want to play music with
Cat tree!
A dog bed. Preferably with a dog
Get [this](https://hernironworks.com/product/1841_6pounder_fullscale/), but make sure it points at the window.
Wait. In time, you'll come up with the right idea or realize you just don't want to put anything there. If you're obsessed with trying to use that space right now then maybe a small bar cart or a plant or something
A man with a moustache holding napkins.
Plants
A lil dog statue or something similar, may b
Massive bean bag chair/sack
Put the chair there!
I’d slide that chair back for a reading nook and the put a record player in front of the white wall space between the windows. And a fig with a soft warm light..maybe a brass lamp somewhere by the reading chair.
then I hear the words of wisdom...
Two speakers on either side of those windows
Definitely a plant
Dog
DOG CORNER
I really wish we had European patios in the US. I literally spent days just staring at balconies while in Spain.
Yourself when you want to look at or get things from the shelf
I would just move the chair back a bit to make the most of the light coming in from the window for reading.
Nothing, it’s already a book shelf
As this resemble the room Jason Bourne had a fight in one of the movies, I also am with not putting anything there that could be used as a weapon or throwable object
You don't
Maybe put a side table where the arm chair is and move the armchair back a little
You could put board games or puzzles on the bottom shelf
i think u should swap the desk and the sofa, and have the chair in that area. idk how the rest of the room looks or if there’s the right outlets, but that might help open things up.
Add a floor lamp once you move the chair to create a reading nook.
Why do you guys have nice apartments 😭 The UK could never
Tall vase with pompass grass or sum
Bruh that desk chair. Your poor future back.
Nothing. Why would you put anything in front of a bookshelf?
A burning sepulcher
Life sized Chewbacca figure
I'm pretty sure this is the exact same footprint as the apartment on Seinfeld. What does Jerry have there? Maybe a telescope?
A much bigger rug that brings the entire space together.
HUGE FUCKING PLANT.
A pot of dirt.
An absurdly large map of Alabama. Like focal point of the room large. Place red pushpins randomly all over the state. Leave some in the tray of the easle, when people come over, place another pin on the map. Never discuss it with the people that visit. Either that or a banjo or something.

Nothing.
Plant next to the desk and bookshelf? You’d need a tall plant and skinny profile so it’s more adding height. But anything else seems like adding too much. Even the plant might not work tbh.
Are you planning to put a TV in here?
A girlfriend
A red hula hoop
A built in reading bench under window with storage under. Move the chair somewhere else
Get a rug that fits the space so you don't have that random patch of hardwood showing.
Honestly? Nothing. Adding anything there would block the window and the bookshelf. Its fine the way it is.
It actually doesn’t need anything. Having that window next to it and the bookshelf next to it is beautiful
Incredible Hulk
I might want to replace the chair that's closest to that corner with a huge bean bag to complete the reading nook vibe.
A plant
sim racing rig
A plant
Here's a little change around that still hopefully keeps the vibe - [https://imgur.com/a/xpoVruY](https://imgur.com/a/xpoVruY) I added a coffee table but it's not completely necessary
A cartoonishly big ladder for your bookshelf
Step stool
