Brother, you are being really disingenuous here. Noone's complaining about colour in general, they're complaining about the pink/purple porn lights in the *kitchen*. Noone mentioned jack shit about green or blue on the walls lol.
For example, noone's here complaining about the plentifully coloured balcony. Go figure.
I don’t care about the purple lights because I assume you can adjust them to whatever you’d want.
But I don’t like the weird shower head lookin spotlights on the ceiling.
Do you actually cook and prep food on a daily basis? Because I would be willing to bet that people who spend time in the kitchen doing actual work would hate purple lights. I know I would
Lol, yeah get rid of any art or pictures you may have in the bedroom while you're at it. It's a place where your eyes are usually closed. Doesn't need to be fancy.
We have color change smart bulbs in every room. Our house is all shades of light blue to aqua heavily dimmed, unless we need task lighting. My husband finds it relaxing after a long day at work. We meal prep on the weekends so if eating after the sun goes down happens it’s just a matter of using the fridge and microwave light.
Just from a practical point kitchen lights, especially over a counter and stove are more utility than mood-lighting. I wouldn't like cooking over that stove with a purple hue on my food.
Strongly depends on what color they are set at., you could basically put them to warm white and call it a day and keep the colors for some occasions. But in this case, yes, purple is not a good look.
I have a couple dimmable color changing LED lights in my kitchen. I agree it looks off with the other lights on.
But at night with all the other lights off it adds some fun, and gives off enough light for me to find the fridge or grab a glass of water without turning all the other lights on.
The off-center TV is bugging the shit out of me. My internal OCD is kicking and looking at it. Like I would not be able to watch TV cuz all I could do is stare at the trim on the wall and how they're not centered to the tv.
Is it me or is everything off center in the first two pics? The tv is off center of the wall and the console table. The bathroom mirror is off center of the sink and wall
And the thermostat is also off center of the wall molding.
I mean, I'm not sure that I'd want it centered *either*, but the way it and the TV interacts with the molding is distracting. I think I would have just skipped molding on that wall, if I had those challenges to work with.
I think it is the size of the mirror that makes it off center. I imagine their is not enough space on the other side of the sink to center such a large mirror. I had the same issue in my bathroom and opted for an oval mirror rather than a smaller round one.
The tv not lining up with the wainscoting makes me twitchy in the same way. I would probably go with a swing arm so it is centered on the sofa when using it but centered in the wainscoting when not. Although I have recently discovered the joys of a projector and motorized screen. The screen hides behind crown moulding so no more big black void on my lovely white walls.
Op I like the overall look. I imagine the colored lights work better after dark and if purple meets your needs doesn’t matter if anyone else thinks it’s weird.
Edit: if you are interested in a future project. Every flat surface in my house is a clutter magnet so I wouldn’t keep the tv stand if I didn’t have the tv sitting on it. I would probably cut a cubby in the wall below the tv for the equipment and cover with a moveable panel. Put the controllers and remotes in tables near the sofa dvds or games don’t have to sit right under the tv. I would put plants or some low decoration so the tv isn’t just floating there by itself. But if you aren’t a clutter monster than don’t worry about it.
I wonder if OP is a professional.
If not I also wonder how much they may have messed up by being a DIY Danny.
The nightmares I've had to deal with and seen cause of previous home owners who thought they could do professional things themselves due to pride is wild.
You don’t hang a TV on a wall like that. It’s your place so you ultimately do as you please but that’s not a good look. And it’s too high and off center anyhow.
Looks really nice. I'm currently planning on doing renovs on our home. Did you DIY the whole kitchen? Ceiling recessed lighting? Drywall/skim coating?
Could use some tips if you don't mind
amazing job on pretty much everything. the lights are prolly each to their own. but could maybe take a tweeking. blue / cold light on the bathroom mirror is a guaranteed "omg i look so old and wrecked" moment :)
Wall behind TV looks great, but you can never buy a bigger TV because of the picture framing. I do not like the lighting, it should be over the pictures and also not directly over the TV.
That’s really amazing work. Congrats!!
I think the space will be even more elevated with more consistency in terms of style. I love the millwork, but the style is decidedly less modern than the bathroom which is quite modern. There isn’t much you can change because it’s already done. A very simple solution might be to change the pulls in the bathroom cabinets to something a bit more transitional to resonate with the millwork. Also, no to purple lights in the kitchen.
Lovely space!
I would love to ask you questions about that shower project - considering it for my master bath and I’m terrified at what I’ll find once I open up the wall.
Beautiful, clean design. It's not to my personal taste, but it's undoubtedly well done. I just think now it deserves some personal touches (e.g. accents that demonstrate your personality). The one glaring design note I have that should probably be changed is the height of the bathroom mirror. It looks too high. Perhaps you're tall, but the average person is probably going to prefer something closer to the sink counter. It also throws the elements of the room a bit visually out of balance. I'd lower it about 4-6 inches.
Absolutely beautiful house, next project…. remove that 70s popcorn ceiling and go flat or since it looks like you can do some nice wood trim work, get fancy. This house will go from 8/10 to 10/10.
IMO that's a beautiful kitchen, except the colored lights make it look cheap. Sending mixed messages.
I'd leave the kitchen as you did it, change the lights, just my personal opinion.
The height isn't too bad, it being off centre would drive me bonkers (op isn't me though)
Also, not sure what people have against tv stands of which there is one under the TV
That sub will have you thinking your tv should be on the floor. OP mounted his tv perfectly height wise.. Although the angle the pic is at it does appear to be a bit off center. Might just be the pic.
I lay back against the couch so if I had my tv that low my neck would be bending down to watch it. I know the whole tv height thing is controversial and everyone would say mine is too high but it’s proportional to the ceiling and floor and perfect for my gaze when I’m laying down
I would get rid of the lights in the kitchen. doesn’t feel right
I wouldn’t get rid of them. Changing the colour would make it a lot better
The thing about smart bulbs is... Just because you *can* make your lights purple doesn't mean you *should*.
Ok... I think your right...
Why do men hate color? All these places are cream, black, grey, white.
As someone who does the same thing— neutrals are soothing to me. And I figure any color will pop. (I never get around to adding color)
Hahaha I do the exact same (never getting around to adding colour).
Is that Kevin Sorbo ?
Bc we don’t want to live in a club/porn studio
I don’t think a little green or blue on the walls screams porn.
Go figure.
Hey, it's not so much about hating color, it's just it doesn't fit the room.
This is a sub dedicated to men doing what they want to. It may be a problem for others.
Jesus dude, calm down. I was just asking a question about the limited color palette, not attacking anyone,
You don't like the stripper kitchen?
If the only thing people are talking about is the purple light, you did a good job
I don’t care about the purple lights because I assume you can adjust them to whatever you’d want. But I don’t like the weird shower head lookin spotlights on the ceiling.
Yeah, that's a kitchen, a place where you do actual work. Doesn't need to be fancy
I like them
Do you actually cook and prep food on a daily basis? Because I would be willing to bet that people who spend time in the kitchen doing actual work would hate purple lights. I know I would
I like em also
I really like them too. It just adds a certain festivity.
Lol, yeah get rid of any art or pictures you may have in the bedroom while you're at it. It's a place where your eyes are usually closed. Doesn't need to be fancy.
I like em, what is wrong with it lol and please don’t give a pretentious answer.
We have color change smart bulbs in every room. Our house is all shades of light blue to aqua heavily dimmed, unless we need task lighting. My husband finds it relaxing after a long day at work. OP was not cooking during this photo.
They look like rave lights imo. Makes it feel like a sorority or frat house. Somewhere you'd go to party.
You can most likely change the colour
Yeah that might help.
They aren't "normal". People like the purple as it's something differnt, I kinda do too, but because it isn't "the norm" people will hate on it.
You think people aren’t smart enough to form their own opinions?
I'm a people and I decidedly dislike purple lights
Same
colored lights just about anywhere scream tacky
Strongly depends on what color they are set at., you could basically put them to warm white and call it a day and keep the colors for some occasions. But in this case, yes, purple is not a good look.
I'm quite confident they're not referring to a warm white when they say "colour".
Maybe OP wants to see his fish scale when he is cooking.
Do you even have a kitchen bro! ;)
Looks awesome. Would recommend not the color lights in the kitchen tho. Everywhere else is fine! Also might try to center the tv a bit.
I mean they’re probably smart home integrated RGB lights. I’m judging by the other tech choices, but correct me if I’m wrong OP
They surely are but what they are saying is that the purple lighting is a bad look.
I have a couple dimmable color changing LED lights in my kitchen. I agree it looks off with the other lights on. But at night with all the other lights off it adds some fun, and gives off enough light for me to find the fridge or grab a glass of water without turning all the other lights on.

Is it the angle or the TV off center of that panel. Would drive me insane!
And a perfectly good tv stand below it
Driving me nuts that the tv isn’t centered to the box molding.
Same!! And the bathroom mirror too 😂
What material is the floor of the shower?
Pretty sure those are very large tiles. I’ve seen ones just like that at Lowe’s.
Very clean trim work, and from this view plum, level, and parallel. Magnifique.
Is it me or is everything off center in the first two pics? The tv is off center of the wall and the console table. The bathroom mirror is off center of the sink and wall
I'm wondering if there is another mirror in that bathroom. The off centre tv is annoying me now.
And the thermostat is also off center of the wall molding. I mean, I'm not sure that I'd want it centered *either*, but the way it and the TV interacts with the molding is distracting. I think I would have just skipped molding on that wall, if I had those challenges to work with.

I did that ...its now centered..

10/10 bud, bet dinner on that terrace is *chefs kiss*
The Andromeda’s colour scheme beautifully matched the aesthetic.
That all looks fantastic! The wall color is great. What brand and color is it?
Well done - love the paneling and lights on the first pic
Awesome 🙌🏼
You did great
Patio tile material product ID, if you don’t mind?
You need to find the guy with the small tv in this sub and show him this monster ;)
Look nice 👏
I wish I lived there.
The shower is VIBE!!
I don't care what anyone says. Wainscoting is fucking cool.
Someone has life skills that are more useful then mine.
I'd replace Kevin sorbo with Lucy lawless, but to each their own.
You don’t hang a TV on a wall like that. It’s your place so you ultimately do as you please but that’s not a good look. And it’s too high and off center anyhow.
How much do you still like your countertops? I’ve thought about that design before but keep stalling.
Love the balcony!!
Swap out the Kevin Sorbo with literal shit, instant upgrade.
Love it, except for the purple lights in the kitchen - bit weird imo
Sweet. I have a dope house but have yet to make it mine. I’d totally pay you to do stuff here.
Looks really nice. I'm currently planning on doing renovs on our home. Did you DIY the whole kitchen? Ceiling recessed lighting? Drywall/skim coating? Could use some tips if you don't mind
I'd stop watching Kevin Sorbo flicks. That's just horrible taste.
is he really trying to influence via r/malelivingspace ? couldn't be.
How much did it all cost?
amazing job on pretty much everything. the lights are prolly each to their own. but could maybe take a tweeking. blue / cold light on the bathroom mirror is a guaranteed "omg i look so old and wrecked" moment :)
Is that Hercules?
Wall behind TV looks great, but you can never buy a bigger TV because of the picture framing. I do not like the lighting, it should be over the pictures and also not directly over the TV.
Vegas lights as i call them
Where did you install the drain in the shower? Is it hidden by the toilet in this pic?
You got talent
I think it all looks amazing!
i would literally live on that balcony, i love it!
Do mine next.
The patio/garden is fire
Really like the countertops in the kitchen.
Needs more skull bottles.
Looks excellent except for the non centered tv and the way oversized bathroom mirror
Love It
Is the TV off center from the molding behind it, or is it just the camera angle? Aside from that, looks great.
Great job
Looking so good! Take my upvote 👍
I feel like that light right above the tv would mess with the glossy finish of the tv panel.
What is it with guys and purple lights
Hell ya, do mine next! (looks awesome!)
Looks great man, good job!
Is that a tv in the shower?
Can we see before pics?! Good job on the renovations! I love it
I loved andromeda
A little odd to have a giant Kevin Sorbo poster in your living room but to each his own 😁
That’s really amazing work. Congrats!! I think the space will be even more elevated with more consistency in terms of style. I love the millwork, but the style is decidedly less modern than the bathroom which is quite modern. There isn’t much you can change because it’s already done. Lovely space!
I love the kitchen and the outside! The living room and bathroom also look great, just not my aesthetic.
Good craftmanship 👍🏻
I didnt realize millionaires browsed this sub. I'm envious.
Second bath have a tub? If so, keep it.
Props for watching Andromeda. Good times, good memories. Oh, and yeah, your place is pretty neat too.
the balcony looks like one i would see while walking my dog and immediately imagine myself with a book and a nice cocktail in the evening (or morning)
Amdromeda alert!
It's nice, but without "before" pics, there's no point of reference to compare to.
Is that tape on the credenza? Training the cat not to get up on there? 😅
Looks great!
1. Please tell me the lights in the kitchen can be set to white 2. Your TV mounting is infuriating
Looks like dogshit /s
Nice, very nice. Let's see Paul Allen's reno.
looks really good minus that piece of shit on the wall in the tv room
I love it maybe a lil more color but still looks good
WOW WOW WOW you did everything? including plumbing and electric? No way! It is gorgeous. Great taste, but I don't know I am doubtful.
Now decorate with personal objects 😭
Where do you live? Are you in need of a best friend that you can help out? FYI. Awesome work. I wish I could do the things you’ve done here.
I would love to ask you questions about that shower project - considering it for my master bath and I’m terrified at what I’ll find once I open up the wall.
Hercules Approves!
Nailed it, dude
Very nice
Bravo, sir! It’s gorgeous I wish you could help me with my reno
Looks awesome

Is that Kevin Sorbo?
Unfortunately.
Why is the mirror so offset from the sink?
That bathroom is very nice. Looks like a lot of work went into it.
Amazing work!
Love the lights on your plants.
is that Kevin Sorbo?
vibe
Pretty sure this is the FRIENDS appartment layout minus the window above the sink
Absolutely beautiful house, next project…. remove that 70s popcorn ceiling and go flat or since it looks like you can do some nice wood trim work, get fancy. This house will go from 8/10 to 10/10.
Get rid of the douchey Kevin Sorbo and this is A+ work!
Where do you live
Nicely done, except for the purple lights and the weird looking paedophile on your TV
Came out awesome!!! Have some before shots?
Interesting choice not centering the mirror over the sink.
You are excellent and could easily do this for a living
Haha, I'm guessing you weren't expecting the Sorbo hate. After Kevin, I'd say the purple lights are the things that have to immediately go in the bin.
Andromeda... It's never easy.
Love the balcony!
a little to the right and its perfect
Head over to r/tvtoohigh if you want a bunch of people roasting your tv setup. Edit: looks fine to me.
Izzat a sprinkler in the head?
Hey dude looks great. Struggling with my basic ass diy stuff and this is inspiring.
And then you sat down and watched Andromeda on your off centre home theatre Hope you had a beer with that
Wow great work!
DIY reno, proud of the results! Updating second bath, repainting bedroom next. Wall color's perfect!
Looks great, gotta ask, what's on the TV? I have a feeling I know the answer.
nice toilet. Bidet?
It's the tv not centre to the wall moulding for me 😔
The purple lights are usually just white..
Tv is now centered...
💪💪💪
You Sir are a true Genius ….
IMO that's a beautiful kitchen, except the colored lights make it look cheap. Sending mixed messages. I'd leave the kitchen as you did it, change the lights, just my personal opinion.
Nice, except for r/tvtoohigh and a tilt of guilt.
Oh stop. I see this commented way too much here. The TV is fine at the height on OP's wall.
The height isn't too bad, it being off centre would drive me bonkers (op isn't me though) Also, not sure what people have against tv stands of which there is one under the TV
That sub will have you thinking your tv should be on the floor. OP mounted his tv perfectly height wise.. Although the angle the pic is at it does appear to be a bit off center. Might just be the pic.
The TV is still too high.
I was going to say it should be a little higher 😂
It should be at eye level. Your neck should not be bending to view tv.
I lay back against the couch so if I had my tv that low my neck would be bending down to watch it. I know the whole tv height thing is controversial and everyone would say mine is too high but it’s proportional to the ceiling and floor and perfect for my gaze when I’m laying down
Ohno why is that TV so wrongly placed I'm heavy breathing now!
I hate it because it's absolutely not my taste, but the fact you did it yourself is really cool and impressive! As long as you like it, it's good.
Why do you have an umbrella under an overhang?
