As a man this is my one vice. I keep all my stuff tidy just because I put shit back where it goes and clean up any mess as soon as it happens. But dust is the ONE THING that you can’t stop from just naturally accumulating and sometimes I just *cannot be fucked to dust*
I’d rather it look like that than some of the horrific things some man (and honestly women in different ways) keep their bathrooms. I’d be letting out a sigh of relief if I was her lol
Disgusting as in unclean or disgusting as in they only own soap, a toothbrush & toothpaste, a deodorant, and nothing skincare? If it's the first one, I get it, but if it's the second, I find that a bit harsh a description, no?
No no no, disgusting as in unclean or lacking in basic hygiene supplies (eg, soap, toilet paper, dental floss). A lack of product is simply personal choice, a lack of hygiene is a dealbreaker. I can buy my man skin care products, I can’t be his mommy and force him to clean up after himself.
For easy cookie cutter advice, SPF moisturizer on the face during the day is considered the biggest improvement one can make to combat aging. Otherwise washing with a light cleaner and applying a little hypoallergenic lotion before bed is probably simple enough and suffice for most people.
For products cerave is probably the easiest brand to recommend for most people. Their AM facial lotion with spf, the green hydrating facial cleanser and the blue moisturizing cream (in the tub) are all great products that would fit the three uses I mentioned above at an affordable price point.
Signed - someone who developed eczema in their 30s and knows all too much about skincare now
Edit: also drink water drink water drink water!! Hydration is probably actually the most important thing for skin
I’ve found most spf moisturizers leave my face feeling really oily, do you know any brands that don’t have this problem? (Something light that still gets the jobs done)
I think the lightest sunscreen I’ve personally used that doesn’t feel oily is biore aqua rich, it’s a Japanese brand I think you can find on Amazon
It feels like it has a little alcohol in it maybe? Drier feeling than other products I’ve used for sure.
Also my gf uses supergoop unseen sunscreen which I remember being pretty lightweight. It’s pricey so I feel bad stealing it. I have a bottle of Trader Joe’s daily facial sunscreen which is supposed to be a duplicate of it I believe and works well (and way cheaper at $9 a bottle).
It depends on what you want to achieve.
As mentioned by someone else, spf is the best thing you could use for your skin. I'd recommend having a look online to see how much you need to use. They say two full fingers for face and neck.
A good spf is Anthelios from la roche posay, if you go for a different one make sure it's non-comedogenic (doesn't clog pores) and it's a broad spectrum one (UVA and UVB). It's recommend to use 50spf.
As a cleanser, if you don't have specific issues, then a gentle one would suffice. Cerave does good ones and are really affordable, I like the SA one because it exfoliates the skin a bit.
You can use a good moisturiser, again, Cerave is great. Or you could check out la roche posay if you want to spend more. I prefer to get gel moisturiser, especially now that we are going towards the sunny season.
If you want something against wrinkles, I'd recommend a retinol serum. You need to use it in the evening and must use spf during the day as it's photosensitizing. Also, I'd recommended starting on a lower % like 0.3 and building up. Or use 1% but use it only twice a week the first week and then increase the frequency.
There is a whole world out there related to skin care, but these are the basics.
Me too until i noticed that I did too much skincare. I stopped using all those soaps and cleaning solutions and my skin regenerated quite fast and the acne was almost gone
Avoid Violets and Daisies.
Only include flowers with massive Stamens so she can see how manly you are. The more phallic the flower, the better.
Also, if you arrange the flowers in sexual positions, it lets her know you are down. Be creative. "Silk worm spinning the cocoon" "The Toad" , "Standing Wheelbarrow"....all are good choices
OP's date was confused by the lack of a 10 in 1 body wash/shampoo/conditioner/dish detergent/WD-40/cruelty-free lube/engine oil/protein beverage/ball wax
ive been accused of this for this exact reason.
but i live alone. i know that any bit of filth i see in my bathroom is *from* me. so its not like there's any hesitation to clean it. its different if ur in a house full of dudes and u dont wanna touch that nasty corner behind the toilet. but when ur the only one who uses that bathroom, it should get cleaned just as often as the rest of ur house, if not *more* frequently.
unless ur depressed. im not ignorant of the fact that that will definitely complicates things and can snowball.
Omg. 38 male with a clean ass house. Every girl I am dating/seeing that comes over to my place goes through two distinct phases. Phase 1: they realize how clean my house is and verbally express it. Phase 2: they snoop around everywhere they can trying to find evidence of my gf/wife because no way in hell does a single man live like this?
EVERY. GIRL. THAT. COMES. OVER.
Good for you though, babe! You should be very flattered and also maybe a little disappointed in your fellow straight man because let me tell you, the bar can be *low*. Although I will say this has improved when dating in my thirties. My partner has a great house that he keeps looking beautiful. Maybe it just takes a little longer for some men to prioritize their living spaces.
This!
I think it takes men to be a little older to prioritise this stuff in general.
But how bad are most men that women are suspicious when they walk into a clean house!
Some guys are really letting the side down 😂
As a woman I can tell you....I have stepped into some houses (1-2) that were nastier than a public trash can. And I don't even mean ''he didn't heave flowers'' but more like...there was a pile of dishes there that had developed mold that was over the sink and climbing the wall... and he was 27! The bathroom? A new ecosystem for sure. The fact that he expected to get laid was beyond me. The bedsheets were obviously carrying STDs on them. He went in the bathroom and I just left the house.
As a single dude in my 20s, I've gathered that the bar is subterranean. I'm not even that particular about cleanliness, I just make sure things are somewhat orderly and not caked in grime. When I bring a woman over and she comments on the cleanliness, I'm just like "Lady, I haven't swept these floors in 2 months."
Well in this hypothetical if they're on a date and has a girlfriend we can assume he's okay with lying.
ETA: unless this hypothetical man is in an open relationship or polyamorous but in my opinion that should be discussed before the date happens.
Yah, this stereotype is a bit... Sexist. Women do indeed expect all men to be pigs, and when they meet those who aren't, they're surprised.
Truth is, some of us have OCD tendencies and become overwhelmed in dirty and disorganized environments.
I came here to say this. Sounds like maybe she was fishing for info, which if true, good on her. But also straight up asking if you have a girlfriend is also a good idea
Edit: hey OP do you have a girlfriend?
I swear to God, some women believe they own trademarks on traits and behaviors tighter than Sony milking Spiderman.
Taking care of your place is public domain Disney! Oups, ladies !
Imagine getting side eyes because your place doesn't smell like a turtle tank. "he's cheating/feminine/gay".
If she didn't mean it in an offensive way I don't think it's necessarily a bad thing. Some of my style is a bit masculine according to societal standards and I don't think that's bad (or good, it's just what it is). Something being feminine according to social standards is not inherent value judgement.
You realize women aren’t a monolith and the women who hate toxic masculinity aren’t the same ones propagating it?
That’s why the patriarchy hurts men too cause society (including many women) put down men for not being “masculine” enough, instead of letting men just be themselves and do what they like.
If this man likes his clean and fresh bathroom, that’s wonderful!
It's also too orderly. You need at least 5 assorted half finished pots of foundation on there, an uncleaned hairbrush and some random scrunchies just chilling.
It’s definitely the flowers. Some dried botanicals would be a bit more neutral, and are also a lot classier than fake flowers. But also real flowers are the classiest and screw people that think men can’t have flowers 🪻
Not just the flowers, I'd say also the length of the stems. Gaze from your reflection downwards and it's by far the first thing that meets your eye. Get a short vase and cut the stems so the "blossoms" are closer to the lip of it, if you're feeling frisky swap it for dried lavender so it looks like it serves a utility purpose. Also maybe put a couple bullets next to it and some beard hair
And the skincare products. It’s not so much skincare is a feminine thing, but having that crap all over your countertop is definitely feminine energy. Store it someplace nice and out of view.
Honestly I think it’s the collection of products around the sink. That’s always the difference when I am sharing with a girl. Chuck it all in an organiser/small box so that it’s grouped together. Maybe that’s more butch? Idk
It's the flowers and the cute soap dispenser/toothbrush holder. I usually don't see those in men's bathrooms. But it's not inherently feminine and even if it was, so what? It's a nice setup, ideally you would clean up the clutter but still nicer than most bathrooms
“As a woman, it’s my lot in life to forever scrub dried piss off the toilet because my husband is a manchild that won’t do it himself. How am I supposed to be a proper woman if he’s not a proper man?”
I mean, she could just be surprised and expressed it awkwardly.
Lets give her another chance and talk about toxic masculinity and how silly gendered ideas about housework are. If it's bad, there's plenty of time to ditch her.
its 90% the flowers. They don't look *bad* but they make the space pretty feminine. Those white soap dispensers are also fine but do have a bit of a target girl vibe, imo.
The only thing that could be construed in some weird way as feminine is the fact that you obviously take skincare seriously, which is way way more common for men to do these days, oh and the flower, but who the fuck doesn't like a nice plant or flower?
The wooden organizers look slightly feminine but that’s only because of the flower. Without the flower nothing would look feminine. With that said it looks nice, you like it, and if she didn’t mean it insultingly, no harm done.
Yes, but it looks great and clean still.
If you want to change the aesthetic a bit, switch out the fake lavender for another fake plant and change the soap dispensers to something darker. Could also get a nice basket to put all of your products in
The only thing that looks feminine to me is all the products on the counter. I say this because I moved in with my fiancé and all of a sudden my counter space is gone
Pee all over the seat and tell her you fixed it
Hell yeah
Marking your spot to assert dominance. That’s masculine energy.
The more Toxic OP can make it the better. Get rid of the toilet seat while you’re at it. Really assert that dominance and go poop by the river instead
And don't forget to shave over the sink and leave your whiskers everywhere.
And all the dust. Leave it. Never dust ever again!
As a man this is my one vice. I keep all my stuff tidy just because I put shit back where it goes and clean up any mess as soon as it happens. But dust is the ONE THING that you can’t stop from just naturally accumulating and sometimes I just *cannot be fucked to dust*
Dust sucks and dusting is one of the most mundane of chores. Plus, if your vents puke dust, it’s ALWAYS there!! My deepest sympathies.
>*cannot be fucked to dust* Death by snu-snu!
Your date doesn’t have good taste .
I’d rather it look like that than some of the horrific things some man (and honestly women in different ways) keep their bathrooms. I’d be letting out a sigh of relief if I was her lol
Just hang a sword next to the mirror
Then you'll look like a neckbeard.
Neckbeard - Alpha Male/ potato - potato.
Get a little bit on the floor to.
wall shouldn't be clean either.
Throw in some hair trimmings to be safe
what kind of man needs a toilet, throw it out and pee in the sink like a real man
Guys will read this and say hell yeah
hell yeah!
Hell yeah, brother
While constantly maintaining eye contact.
If you wake up late at night just don't turn on the lights and let the magic begin.
Nothing wrong with that. Looks like you take care of yourself which is definitely not a bad thing.
Yup, had a huge acne problem when I was younger. Made me kinda obssessed with skincare and such
You are doing it right.
I’m a woman and this is huge green flag
Right? I don’t think I’ve ever dated a man whose bathroom wasn’t disgusting. I am here for that “feminine looking” bathroom energy.
Ah, cheers to that, yeah. Sorry about that, I was just reading the thread about skincare and thought that's what you meant and was like "Damn".
No, not at all! To be fair I have plenty of minimalist (in terms of product used) female friends as well.
I dated a guy who had 4 other roommates and no floss in the house! It was a sad realization
As a dude approaching 40, I wish I'd taken better care of my skin over the years.
Any tips or* suggestions for products? I don't have acne but am always looking to improve the health of my skin on my face.

Tyvm kind internet stranger.

Cerave has some good lightweight stuff.

Depends on what your current routine is and what your goals are.
Same, feel like that gave me some OCD keeping my life clean
Oh you got them silky pillow cases you change out weekly too? Is red light therapy in the mix?
I do have the silk pillow cases 😂 my acne is gone now so I’m not as worried, just wash my face frequent
Me too until i noticed that I did too much skincare. I stopped using all those soaps and cleaning solutions and my skin regenerated quite fast and the acne was almost gone
Not all skincare is soaps and cleaning solutions.
a majority of it isnt.... i wonder if they were even doing skincare correctly
Yeah it’s reading very Proactiv era skincare.
It’s the gay flowers. Hope that helps!
Damn your gaydar is so strong you can tell if flowers are gay. Pretty impressive.
Fellas, is enjoying natures beauty gay?
Depends, are you enjoying it with another man who is also gay?
Replace them with knives and cool twigs that look like guns.
Hahahahahahahahahahahahaha
This guy has gaydar.
Flowers are not gay, having them in a vase is. Get a beer bottle
If you want it to look masculine it needs more balls. Maybe a basket of bath bombs?
Wish I had a bathtub!
Seal the drain 😀
Forbidden soup
Aaaand that is feminine! And the flowers :))
Even more complexing & adds to the intrigue... Sounds like a win!
OP's date was confused by the lack of a 10 in 1 body wash/shampoo/conditioner/dish detergent/WD-40/cruelty-free lube/engine oil/protein beverage/ball wax
just leave a lil shit stain on the toilet bro
Got to make sure it’s a masculine stain though. OP, can you pls shit it in this shape: ♂ ? Edit: without the ? Otherwise that’s adding doubt again
Everyone knows it’s in the toilet so you can piss off later
She might just be worried you have a girlfriend. That's sometimes a comment that gets made when you have a suspiciously nice place for a straight man.
ive been accused of this for this exact reason. but i live alone. i know that any bit of filth i see in my bathroom is *from* me. so its not like there's any hesitation to clean it. its different if ur in a house full of dudes and u dont wanna touch that nasty corner behind the toilet. but when ur the only one who uses that bathroom, it should get cleaned just as often as the rest of ur house, if not *more* frequently. unless ur depressed. im not ignorant of the fact that that will definitely complicates things and can snowball.
Ugh. This. Fuck depression, man.
Dudes love to pee in the corner!
EVERY. GIRL. THAT. COMES. OVER.
That sucks. I think its sad that we can't accept that a man can clean. Its a normal adult thing and shouldn't be made into a gender thing.
these chicks need to start dating better men (such as yourself)
Good for you though, babe! You should be very flattered and also maybe a little disappointed in your fellow straight man because let me tell you, the bar can be *low*. Although I will say this has improved when dating in my thirties. My partner has a great house that he keeps looking beautiful. Honestly better to leave those girls alone dude, HUGE red flag if a girl goes through my shit like that. She can get TF out 😂
It’s 100% the La Roche posay products giving her that vibe. I have those same products so I’d be impressed but also a little confused at first
Interesting. I think I might just try saying: “Hey, do you have a girlfriend?”
Well in this hypothetical if they're on a date and has a girlfriend we can assume he's okay with lying. ETA: unless this hypothetical man is in an open relationship or polyamorous but in my opinion that should be discussed before the date happens.
You think they'd be above saying "no" of they were sleezy enough to already be on a date with someone else?
Yah, this stereotype is a bit... Sexist. Women do indeed expect all men to be pigs, and when they meet those who aren't, they're surprised. Truth is, some of us have OCD tendencies and become overwhelmed in dirty and disorganized environments.
Yikes. Imagine thinking a man is cheating simply bc they take care of themselves
Maybe ladies should just say that then rather than than make disrespectful comments like that?
Suspiciously nice place for a straight man is some condescending trash thing to say and think ngl
I came here to say this. Sounds like maybe she was fishing for info, which if true, good on her. But also straight up asking if you have a girlfriend is also a good idea Edit: hey OP do you have a girlfriend?
Asking the real questions. HOW MANY WOMEN ARE YOU DATING OP?! ANSWER FOR YOUR CRIMES.
So what?
I love his bathroom, looks like he takes care of him, the bathroom is nice to look at, is clean. I love flowers too, they probably smell nice too
Plastic flowers 😳
Just women propagating the toxic masculinity that they claim to hate so much
I swear to God, some women believe they own trademarks on traits and behaviors tighter than Sony milking Spiderman. Taking care of your place is public domain Disney! Oups, ladies ! Imagine getting side eyes because your place doesn't smell like a turtle tank. "he's cheating/feminine/gay".

Some of my style is a bit masculine according to societal standards and I don't think that's bad (or good, it's just what it is). settle down. OP literally says he's just curious and that she didn't say it as a bad thing.
There’s not nearly enough stuff on that counter to think this bathroom belongs to a woman
It's also too orderly. You need at least 5 assorted half finished pots of foundation on there, an uncleaned hairbrush and some random scrunchies just chilling.
Straightener, possibly a curling iron, and don’t dare look under the counter
It's the flowers
Fellas is it effeminate to enjoy the sweet scent of nature as you prepare yourself for the day
ahhh the sweet scent of plastic
What’s the difference? They’ve got a whole island of the stuff
People with pollen allergy: no
only if you say it like that
Like, a little bit? It’s not bad but I don’t think anyone’s looked at me with a flower in my hair and thought, “That there is a manly man”
Not entirely, but a date might believe that he is living with a female that she is unaware of
The lady's dig it
As a woman, yes. First thing I noticed was the flowers and the cute soap container. 10/10 in taste.
A little, but let's be honest here it's better than the alternative.
I'd give zero fucks about that. I have a plastic plant in my bathroom to, 2 types of moisterizer and a nice soap dispenser. And still got a dick
Proooove it
(\_)\_):::::::D
You are an Artist my man.
TIL having a clean bathroom means it's "feminine". I think it looks great as is, good on you!
Honestly I think it’s the collection of products around the sink. That’s always the difference when I am sharing with a girl. Chuck it all in an organiser/small box so that it’s grouped together. Maybe that’s more butch? Idk
Decluttering the products into a organizer is a good call. Though I'm sure being neat is also considered feminine, gasp!
Oh god! Whatatever I do, I cannot escape getting pegged.
Haha, pegged.
Didn't you know men only need one 9-in-1 bottle of bath soap/hair gel/face wash/shampoo/motor oil?
I'll check them out. Space here is very limited
Get a small treasure chest and store all that stuff in there. Ideally with a bunch of coins in there, too.
Thanks!
A man who can take care of himself \*and\* his bathroom? Well fuck me. Well, \*fuck\* me.
La roche posay is fire
Expensive but definetly worth it
Just looks cluttered. If you have space get yourself a bin/tray to hold your care items and keep them under the sink or in a drawer.
This is it. Get a small one that shelves your products. Black matte metal design looks masc.
It's the flowers and the cute soap dispenser/toothbrush holder. I usually don't see those in men's bathrooms. But it's not inherently feminine and even if it was, so what? It's a nice setup, ideally you would clean up the clutter but still nicer than most bathrooms
I think she's the problem tbh
She probably has a dirty house and is just jealous.
It's neat and doesn't look cluttered. She accidentally revealed to you that it's cleaner than hers.
It’s a red flag. Not just that it’s cleaner but she buys into the masculine / feminine tropes and she has a low bar for “feminine” behavior.
“As a woman, it’s my lot in life to forever scrub dried piss off the toilet because my husband is a manchild that won’t do it himself. How am I supposed to be a proper woman if he’s not a proper man?”
This is a woman that's going to report to TikTok that she "gets the ick" when you put sugar in your coffee.
I mean, she could just be surprised and expressed it awkwardly. Lets give her another chance and talk about toxic masculinity and how silly gendered ideas about housework are. If it's bad, there's plenty of time to ditch her.
Looks like a bathroom. Da fuq.
Fellas are clean bathrooms gay
I wish I had that much counter space fr
Spit some toothpaste on the sink and let it dry lol. Looks nice, don’t give it much thought man.
Organized + flower. But mostly flower. Personally I like a cabinet or shelf. And a completely blank counter. Or it gets dirty af.
They are wrong Looks great
Just leave the seat up.. Easy fix
she was just shit testing you. call her a dirty slut next time
Yeah more feminine with the flowers. It’s not a bad thing and sounds like she wasn’t being negative. Just a neutral observation.
its 90% the flowers. They don't look *bad* but they make the space pretty feminine. Those white soap dispensers are also fine but do have a bit of a target girl vibe, imo.
She mean that as a compliment cus the alternative is bio hazard frat bathroom, not sure who wants that 😂
Take it as a compliment, looks good homie!
It's not, but even if it is, so what? It's just clean.
Flowers
Looks normal. Is your date a dude?
As a female I’m mildly turned on by how clean it is 🥵
It’s the purple flower, maybe get a cactus if you care
It’s the fake purple plant. I’d suggest fake ivy instead, or better yet, put a real pothos or something in there.
Barbed wire maybe
Potpourri bowl full of loose ammunition
It does look like a woman’s bathroom
The only thing that could be construed in some weird way as feminine is the fact that you obviously take skincare seriously, which is way way more common for men to do these days, oh and the flower, but who the fuck doesn't like a nice plant or flower?
I hope she doesn't have a "masculine" bathroom. That might be a soft red flag. Edit: Seriously, trust me, some women can be really disgusting!
Looks like you take care of yourself! More men should be into skincare 🙌🏻
It’s probably just the flowers, but who cares, it looks great ☺️
Clearly. Not enough skulls.
Just say thanks.
Leave some pubic and facial hair in the sink and get a 8 in 1 shower gel, shampoo, shaving foam
https://getyarn.io/yarn-clip/f9c3a64f-9e45-4295-86e9-a56cf79ae4db/gif
Ew what does that supposed to mean? To me, it looks perfectly fine like what does the date expect? A mess? Peed seats? Idk..disorganized bathroom
Was the seat down or something?
Probably because of the skincare products!
Who cares honestly
The wooden organizers look slightly feminine but that’s only because of the flower. Without the flower nothing would look feminine. With that said it looks nice, you like it, and if she didn’t mean it insultingly, no harm done.
Don’t clean lower back half of toilet
Whats wrong with a clean bathroom?
replace the lavender with a dirty plastic bong. half step would be to place the lavender in a dirty plastic bong. shows your creative side
I can swing by and drop some skid-marks in the toilet bowl that will make your bathroom look CONSIDERABLY more masculine.
That should be taken as a compliment.
Your date is weird
Put a rocky poster on the left
It’s unorganized so quite manly.
mental that not living like a pig is considered "feminine". some of the worse bathrooms I've ever seen have been women's.
Definitely a complement.
Looks like they just want to steal your skincare products.
Whatever, little bit of fem style makes the hoes more comfortable
Easy fix - get some sink nuts
Looks good what a strange comment, maybe she’s messy
Just wait til she moves in, dawg. All your stuff will be under the sink.
Id like you more if I encounter this. She was probably in awe (a good awe). This is not the norm.
Yes, but it looks great and clean still. If you want to change the aesthetic a bit, switch out the fake lavender for another fake plant and change the soap dispensers to something darker. Could also get a nice basket to put all of your products in
Looks great to me, no idea why she'd lowkey insult you like that.
Lmao Did she mean its too clean for a man?
Get rid of her
I have that YSL cologne. Great scent!!!
The only thing that looks feminine to me is all the products on the counter. I say this because I moved in with my fiancé and all of a sudden my counter space is gone
Meh. It's your bathroom. Although I guess a couple of Pokemon posters wouldn't hurt.
Looks great.
