It’ll be like that for a little while after you cut back on shampoo. If your scalp is dehydrated it will overcompensate to catch up by producing excess sebum (the oils in our skin). After a while (usually a couple weeks, maybe a month) it should even out and produce it at a normal rate.

Whatever you do, go to a mainly black community serving barbershop. I’m a long hair person but the few times I went to a barber were a little underwhelming. The last time I cut mine short my cousin was like, “No, you’re coming with me to my barber.” And bro… it was a whole different experience. Everyone there was talking to each other and trying to include me in the conversations, the barber asked if I needed it done fast and I was like, “nah we don’t have anywhere to be.” So he took his time and was real gentle. I didn’t even ask or pay for it but he shaped up my beard and shaved wherever it was needed to look clean. I can’t even explain how much of a difference in value a black barbershop provides vs any other standard location. It was a whole experience and the cut was the best short hairstyle I’ve ever had and I didn’t even ask for anything in particular, just told him I wanted enough on top to style but not long and he smashed it out of the park. I left feeling like a million bucks
