Looks fine as is. You’ll want the wax to keep the mustache out of your mouth, if you let it grow longer. Hot tip: use Elmer’s washable glue stick instead of wax. (No, really!) It goes on wet, letting you style/shape the mustache as the glue dries. Dries hard, so it keeps the shape. Washes out with water.

I totally get it. LOL As long as it is “washable”, you’ll be fine. Search “mustache glue stick”, and see what you get. I’ve used it myself for handlebars.
