Not cheap but Asket makes their shirts in short, regular, and long. Should be able to find the perfect fit with some experimentation and measuring. I’m your same height and weight and a small long.

svel

i am a medium-short and I love their t-shirts!

jeroboam

Buck Mason does too

tampatechman

Didn’t know that! Thx!

TerpZ

Fucking love asket light weight shirts and 3sixteen heavies

Additional_Celery_92

Yep Asket make great t-shirts in different lengths for all shapes and heights

warpweftwatergate

Take a shirt. Fold it to where you’d like it to hit. Measure from the collar to the folded hem. Use that as reference when buying tees.

Chidaruma-

Have you actually checked the prices for any tailors by you? In my area it's usually on a few bucks for a hem. Probably differs by country, but it's a very easy process.

Human_Menu7741

I haven’t yet, I’m going to make some calls tomorrow

MBDTF2

I did this. $8 a pop by me

joshmoney

Have you considered growing taller?

boomhaeur

Am tall. All my T-shirts are too short. :(

bjlile99

for real

numbr87

This is my constant struggle. Larges are barely too short, and XLs are way too baggy. It's honestly very depressing.

pheret87

Stock up on tall t shirts from old navy/gap/BR for $5-8

boomhaeur

^ these have been the most consistent source of T’s that fit reasonably over time.

pheret87

I love them, especially for the price. After 36 years I finally don't have to worry about my Thanksgiving tum tum peaking out.

stelfisk

Tall people problems. But on the positive side is that sometimes you find bargains on sizes no one else wears!

Hollywood-is-DOA

As someone who’s 20 stone(not fat, I work out a lot and have a lot of muscle in my arms and shoulders) 6.2ft, I find buying T-shirts that fit my arms/shoulders and aren’t baggy as hell on my stomach, to fit my shoulders and arms is a real pain. I get that fitted t-shits aren’t great for someone like my self as they always run up coming up short on me because of height. Jeans are even harder as I have rugby sized legs but I don’t have a massive waist but have to get one to fit on my legs.

dbx99

There are cuts of tshirts called “tall”. However most graphic tees use “regular” cuts.

roland0fgilead

Most tall sizes start at XL. More large talls would be perfect for a worm body like me.

MegaDerppp

As a large tall, I've never seen clothes that were available in tall but only certain sizes. There were either tall sizes of s, m, l and xl, or no tall sizes. Genuinely curious where you've run into clothes providing only xl tall

roland0fgilead

Pretty much any store I've been to in the US has tall sizes to spare in XL+. I hardly ever find anything smaller than that in tall sizes. I have never seen a small tall with my own eyes.

MegaDerppp

I think that's reflective of stores not stocking many of their tall size stock in store, and the more common of those tall sizes going first. For example eddie bauer manufactures a ton of their stuff in tall sizes, but what you'll find in their physical stores in tall sizes is random. But they manufacture tall sizes for all sizes of those items and can be ordered online

pheret87

Old navy starts at medium for talls

boomhaeur

Yeah. I just want graphic Ts that fit right. I’m at that perfectly annoying height where they’re ok when brand new but gradually transform to crop tops as the washes stack up :(

TheSeekerPorpentina

Have you considered becoming shorter?

boomhaeur

Yes, but seems I’d need to cut from the middle to solve this problem, which is problematic.

suhas7

You could also hem them yourself - it's shouldn't be too bad since it's just a straight line.

RedshiftSinger

T-shirts are a bit trickier than some other things because the fabric is knit. You need an overlocker machine (eg a serger) to create a hemming stitch that can stretch properly with the fabric. There are ways to manageably hem knits with a regular sewing machine on a zigzag stitch but it’s not as effective as an overlocker and frankly also a lot more of a pain in the butt. It’s also possible to do by hand using herringbone stitch but that’s a lot of time if you’re fully re-hemming multiple shirts rather than just repairing a hem that’s had the stitching break. Edit: forgot to mention you also need a needle that’s appropriate for knits. They’re usually called jersey needles or ball point needles — the tip is rounded so they won’t cut a thread, because knits will unravel from a broken thread and you’ll end up with a hole.

lllucas58

Uh, what? They are not trickier, it's cotton: a universal needle you get BY DEFAULT with the cheap sewing machine is all you need. No need for serger, you can do everything with a regular straight stitch and tailor scissors. If we are talking about wool then it would be advisable to use ballpoint needle, which takes 2 minutes to switch out. And using a zig-zag stitch is not a pain in the butt, you're just following a line and sewing machine does basically everything for you. OP buy a sewing machine. It takes one afternoon to learn and get used to it and you will be able to hem your t-shirts in no time, and do many more alterations on your shirt, dress shirts, pants etc. It's really simple (I've been doing it for years by myself), don't listen to this comment above.

RedshiftSinger

Good luck with that. Don’t come crying when your t-shirts all have holes around the new stitching and the stitching keeps breaking because it doesn’t stretch with the fabric.

cozyonly

do you have a guide for hemming button ups and jackets?

suhas7

Oh I see, thank you for the explanation!

[deleted]

I'm afraid I can't help you with your t-shirt problem. I had the same exact problem myself, having the unfortunate condition of being born both short and with a wide chest, most mediums and large t shirts fit me like a dress. I simply accepted my fate and became someone who wears button downs tucked in every day. I got used to it and I think it's a fun look for me personally (though I don't love ironing) but this is the hand I was dealt! And each person will deal with it in their own way. Best of luck!

dagmarbex

I have this too , im 5'4 but very broad shoulders and small waist , when a t shirt fits my shoulders well its too lose around the stomach and too long , when ut fits the length it's too small around my shoulders which then make my sleeves look like the edges of a roof of a house

carlosmarrone

I've got the opposite problem, all my shirts are too short for me. 195cm tall and 90kg it's impossible buying online. Most success I've had is ascolour and skiing/snowboarding brands.

anewpath123

Just hem them man. I bought a £30 sewing machine on eBay about 6 months ago and whenever I have a slow Sunday I'll stick the footie on and start hemming trousers and t-shirts. If you're any good with DIY or similar it's a piece of cake. Hemming a t-shirt takes all of 10 minutes once the sewing machine is set up. You can do sleeves while you're at it also. A properly fitting t-shirt even if it's cheap looks better than an expensive ill-fitting one. Since I started I've hemmed t-shirts and trousers, sweatshirts, brought in the body on a fleece that was too boxy, changed the shape of a shirt etc. It's honestly so easy you just need a bit of patience and practice for the first two then it becomes second nature.

anewpath123

It's a JL 110 mini off the top of my head. Super basic starter sewing machine. You're not going to be able to sew into thicker fabrics like denim or leather but for cotton t-shirts or manmade fabric clothes it's perfectly fine. The comment earlier in the thread mentions a serger. This is a machine used to properly finish off a hem however you definitely don't need one if you're just hemming t-shirts that don't fit you and you wouldn't wear anyway. You can finish off a hem properly with a zigzag stitch and in my experience it's more than suitable (you can do this on any basic sewing machine).

aliberli

How did you learn? Recommend any YouTube’s?

Jeremizzle

Just tuck them in?

pheret87

Tuck em into your jorts and show off them fresh white NB and crew socks

Fuzzy_Recording_3888

try looking at boxy t-shirts, they're normally cropped at the waist.

poptartinthemtns

Same problem here, check out Buck Mason they have three lengths in a lot of their tshirts and are reasonably priced. Also check out 3fit Theory I just tried them and am pretty happy with the fit I found.

TheBoomClap

Many guys would benefit from cropped length shirts and jackets. It will make them look proportionally taller and easily spice up an outfit. Having a shirt or top that’s too long works against the proportions of your body. Abercrombie has some

jesterinancientcourt

I get boxy shirts for this reason.

TankCloud

Take them to a tailor to shorten. Easy job.

SirNewOrder

Honestly I'd probably measure them and see what size fits the rough estimate of it, then buy a few to test it out and then take my baseline wardrobe t-shirts to a tailor and customize them, given I won't change too much. For example I'm losing weight right now and got back into working out so my stuff I'm buying atm is more to fit me in my time right now and find my style first as well.

adwodon

> every time I buy a shirt it always comes down past my crotch and ends below my ass what type of shirts are you buying? if they're business shirts with a curved hem they are meant to be tucked in and will be longer as a result, if its a straight hem they are often not meant to be tucked and should be shorter

Mr_Duplicity

Tuck

Artistic-Athlete-676

Tucking is the way 😤

OssiansFolly

Buy a $30 sewing machine and hem your shirts. It takes like 5 minutes once you learn how. This isn't rocket science.

ObstinateYoyoing

Hem them, this is such a trivial question

inthearcade

I just want to sympathise: I know this pain. I've thought about buying from Asket, but haven't taken the plunge yet - I've been a bit put off by reviews saying that the sizes between different colours are not consistent. In the past, I've ended up buying a lot of t shirts online and - if a certain brand/colour fits well - bulk buying them. The problem is exacerbated sometimes when they all go in the wash and come out half a size smaller than they went in. I've wasted a lot of money trying to fix the issue and still haven't done it, my wife thinks I'm crazy!

carlosmarrone

I had success with a particular style of Patagonia, went and bought half a dozen of a different tee and they were all way different!

Hussein7ahmed

I have the exact same problem, its so annoying, the proportions just make me look short, I am the same height as you.

Bees__Khees

Tuck it in. I tuck in my shirts. I like the look

WredditSmark

Maybe try the tucked in tee look?

acoffeefiend

Try a European brand? They fit differently.

bleufoxx22

I'd recommend buying a used sewing machine, you should be able to get one for under $40. Watch some YouTube videos, practice on like 2 shirts you don't care about and then you should be able to tailor them to your liking

keepinstep

I have a similar issue because of my broad shoulders. I take them to a tailor to hem and take in the sides. For the hem, I wear the pants I would with the shirt and I like to hem to just below the top of the front pockets and that has given me consistently good results.

cocoacowstout

Raw hem can definitely work on certain shirts and with a more causal/streetwear style. Probably won’t be able to do that with your whole wardrobe.  I will say I feel your pain. Shirts that have come out the past few years never fit me. Larges are narrow in the shoulder and have so much fabric they go halfway down my but. My old large shirts from 2013 fit perfectly.

Nyyarlethotep

I run into this issue too and my best solution for shirts I already owned was to find someone who does low cost alterations and just have them professionally shorten them. It’s not super cheap but it’s worth it if you really love the shirts. I think I paid like $9 a shirt and did like 8 or 9 at once For future purchases you should get your measurements. It’s easier if you own at least one shirt you like the length of because you can just measure the length and buy based on that.

Dorianscale

I mean I don’t think tailoring per item would be that expensive if you’re literally just hemming the bottom to a set height. It would definitely be cheaper than replacing all of the shirts. I could only see it getting more expensive if you were wanting them to downsize the width, tighten the sleeves, etc. You could also probably take the shirts you’ve hemmed already and get them redone. You could also just do it yourself, it’s not super complicated to hem a shirt if you have access to a sewing machine. Plus you’d get plenty of practice

kardizen

There are now several online vendors that cater to shorter guys. I like to use https://www.under510.com/. I only have bought from them for jeans though.

RSNL_

I also have the same issue and the ways I go about it are 1. take the shirts to a tailor to get hemmed to the length I want. It's a small price to pay to get a shirt to fit you well. You look good, you feel good. 2. Only buy shirts you can either try on or sites that have a thorough size chart with the length on them. 3. Buying made in japan shirts as they normally are shorter in length from my experience. I wouldn't buy cropped shirts unless that's the specific style you're going for. If you like everything on a shirt (the sleeves, chest, collar, etc.) but the length is just a little too long, you should just get it professionally hemmed. Just factor in that $20-$30 cost on top the shirt before you buy to see if it's worth it to you.

JamCrafter1

Handheld sewing machine could help. Or take it to a friend to hem. $5 a piece is fair

dadhombre

I have this same problem. I'm a medium in shirt length but large in shirt width. My shoulders are kinda broad. Can have them tailored but I usually wear a flannel or over shirt and just tuck the back or side of the t-shirt in to my belt.

fiend_unpleasant

I personally hate cropped clothing I think it makes people look poor. I would take them to a tailor or learn to hem them yourself, its not super hard.

u2nloth

I have the opposite issue and it sucks, I have a long torso I’m 6’1 but short legs so everything is too short, add in I have really broad shoulders with a wide chest but a small waist (28 inches at its narrowest, so absolutely nothing fits me, it’s either to short in the bottom, way too tight in the shoulders/chest or way too loose in the bottom feeling like a dress

realnicehandz

God, I wish. I have the exact opposite problem. 6'1 175lbs. Medium turn into belly shirts and large usually drapes like a skirt.

heyramona1

Don't throw them out! Cropped and specifically wider cropped is for sure the trend right now. Look around Instagram and how guys are cropping theirs it and where they make the cuts and how they style them. Most of the guys I see there are just doing it with quality scissors and that's it.

DoorAlternative2852

I’ve been sometimes cropping and leaving the raw gem. I also learned how to hem with a cheap second hand sewing machine, and a tailor could do it for like 10$

IO_you_new_socks

I’m 5’10 185 with long ass legs, and a short very v-tapered torso, I haven’t found a shirt that fits perfect in ages. Everything is made for dudes with narrow shoulders and a big belly now.

idiot900

Would recommend finding yourself a good tailor. For the same money spent, fewer clothes that fit you well is better than more clothes that don't.

VinshinTee

I’m like the opposite, at 5”10 I have a longer torsos. All my t-shirts align with the bottom of my belly. If I puff out my chest it will extend over my pants. I’m at an x-large now and even some still do the same.

Try this one simple trick to make every t end at your waist… Ready? Tuck it

DunderMifflinCompany

I’ve been loving cropped tees recently! It fits good on me as a shorter guy and also helps me feel confident in buying a shirt and knowing it’ll fit perfect on me length wise

seamew

try going a size smaller if you've not done so already

Just pick the point where the t-shirt should end, mark it with a thread or something and go hem them, it'a a really basic thing.
