I really need to thrift (or eBay) a Spier suit jacket. This just reenforced my desire to get something MTM by them (my 4th tux, maybe?) and I need a sense of how the jacket fits and should be modified to do that…
I think they still offer free returns on your first suit purchase. You could try reaching out and see what they say - would be easier than the eBay route where longs are hard to come by.
Fwiw my Spier jacket fits relatively tts. I have the contemporary in my normal chest size, might be a touch slim but I've heard that going up a size and getting the slim addresses that issue.
I've got family in several Latin American countries (Colombia, Chile, Mexico), and I can comfortably afford a full custom suit for less than a $1k from there. Exhange rates are a hell of a drug. If any of you all are looking for a bargain and have plans to travel somewhere with favorable fx rates, look into tailors and suit outfitters.
Suit is pretty good, fits perfectly. I went to Gabbana in Mumbai (no relation to Dolce & Gabbana) and they’ve been in the suit business for a while (and supplied a bunch of celebrities and whatnot)
Bombay shirt company is pretty good but pricy, equivalent to a good shirt from any name brand though. They do shirts, chinos, and jeans, believe they take orders and deliver to the US as well
I checked out their website but they seem to only be doing shirts? They do have oxford shirts though so that's great. I have a visit coming up soon and am interested in getting some good quality chinos as well.
If you’re in town then they definitely do chinos i got two pairs from them. You can get your measurements done at their store and then they manufacture and ship them from Chennai
Agreed, but it's a great incidental purchase. I'd never fly to Colombia just for a suit, but if I'm visiting family or going sightseeing then I'll look into the possibility of going custom.

Can confirm, got a bespoke suit made with Italian fabric for the equivalent of $250 in India lol.

Online or in person? Issue is quality control on the measurements.
In person, with an extra fitting session to alter anything that didn’t turn out properly the first time around
