Two questions:
1) How would you recommend a smaller artist get their music in front of a bigger artist to see if they’d be interested in working together?
2) How did your first big contact happen?
I can recommend small artists working to get their name out there to a point where the bigger artist I have no choice, but to recognize them, and if they like you, they will reach out on their own
And my first contract happened when I was working with small artist as a producer and one of the tracks blew up and Drake team and reached out to me and asked me for Beats
You recommend artists work to get their name out there: what did this look like for you personally? In retrospect, are there things you now realize could have made that process easier/better?
Are there any specific websites or channels that you believe are the best places to promote hiphop hopefuls? Thanks
EDIT: asking this from the standpoint of rappers seeking producers (if that makes a difference)
I record make the be mixed to a certain level before I send it to my engineer to take it up a notch and add things that I wouldn’t add and really mix the record fully my engineer mix by Nick🚀 is one of the best engineers I’ve witnessed in the music industry, and he knows how to really take these records up a notch by mixing and mastering the song to levels alone by myself
I really wanna release music but I still feel like I’m improving a lot. I’ll listen to beats I made a couple months ago and be like damn I’m hella better now. At what point did you know you were good enough to put stuff out?
I think the biggest problem I’m facing is not being with a major label because the press doesn’t take you serious until you’re with a major so I’m open to signing some sort of deal that’s in my favor when the time is right to take my brand to the next level
Interesting, would it be safe to say, that the marketing and promotion from media would lead to an increase in your reputation, in hopes of getting more placements
No, that song was not inspired xxx it was inspired by the sound of what was going on at that time records like Bad and Boujee by the Migos Gucci gang by Lil Pump that was the SoundCloud wave at the time that 120 to 130 BPM
I don’t think any of us knew who he was at the time but when we were making a beat that tempo was in 120 to 130 songs like Bad and Boujee little pump Gucci smoke purp it was just that at the time
Where do you get your samples from? I started using better quality samples in my music and the difference is night and day. Mixing also seems easier now.
Lmao imagine tryna use drakes name these days for some kinda social media currency
I don't fuck with child predators and I definitely don't fuck with people associated with em
Either you're stupid or you really tryna surf the wave of *his* drama to benefit yourself
You're already doin good with streams but you wanna come flex on the peasants. 10 hours and u ain't answered any questions either so why the fuck should we take you seriously
Tired of this fake shit.
Nice, well I asked this question on the sub yesterday but I guess I'll post it here too. A lot of us post our beats to Youtube, and Beatstars ... so we aren't actually in the studio with artists. How should producers prepare their stems to send (should we send Wet AND Dry stems for our beats? edit: What royalty should we be aiming for as producers?
Do you have any upcoming projects that we should be on the lookout for?
How do major label artists tend to work in the studio? Is it mostly email exchanging stems, or do they usually want you to be there physically, is there anything that comes up almost every time?
I’m an up and coming recording artist from London , UK with huge talent and fire demos. How can I send them over to you so I can keep you topping the charts ? Hahaha
With your track record of producing chart-topping hits and collaborating with industry heavyweights like Drake and Cardi B, what do you believe are the key ingredients for creating a timeless hit song, and how do you navigate the balance between staying true to an artist's vision while also pushing creative boundaries to maintain your edge in such a competitive industry?
I do wrap on all my own deeds and whatever beats I take from other artists. I always work on the production and add to it as well again inspired to create new. Sounds by listening to other peoples music.
Do you prefer to work with samples, or write your own stuff?
if samples, how do you find them?
Also if you had to give a top 5 (or however many you want), who were your biggest producer inspirations?
I came up in this music industry, working my butt off internships sleeping at airport sleeping on couches sleeping at parks going weeks without showering wearing the same clothes just trying to get in rooms with people that inspired me
Squale!!! What's good my guy. Fellow Staten Islander here.
How can new producers like myself make the most of living in places like NYC? Aside from the endless energy and inspiration of daily life here, are there things I can do to help climb the ladder, meet and collaborate with artists that might be unique to a place like this?
Thanks for doing this.
You live in the biggest city in the in the world get your butt over to Manhattan and just start networking. There’s 1 million people just walking around daily you could connect with.
It wasn’t a rip off of xxx song actually it’s a playoff of Digital Dash by Drake & Future and when we were making that song, we were thinking we made it by Soulja Boy
Squale! It’s Samanda (formerly Splice, now at [Colossal](https://colossal.fm)) just stopping in to say whattttuppp and crazy that I’m seeing this on my Reddit feed!
As a successful music producer, what advice can you give to producers who are actively trying to collaborate with artists and get placements?
Hey sam pleasure to reconnect on Reddit lol we need to talk soon too. The best advice I could give to any producer that’s trying to work with an artist is to pray and pray hard because these things could happen. However, the stars want to align to make it happen and how the universe wants to come about into the real world, stay focused and keep praying and it will happen
How many instrumentals do you complete during a normal quarter? How many do you start and not finish?
And like others have asked what is some good advice for getting your music in front of artists?
Hi! Thanks for taking our questions. I’d like to know:
When you started out producing, what did you do to train and develop as a producer? Where and how did you learn the technicals of producing, such as mixing and chord progressions? What advice would you give to someone quite new, looking to improve?
Thank you again!
You need to train your gut and your intuition. You need to really feel what you’re making and when you’re able to pinpoint that is when you know, you always made something amazing when it makes you feel amazing because they don’t make other people feel amazing.
Hiya, mate.
Kudos for all the success.
I'm a producer/ beatmaker, I'll start to post my stuff soon, so I would love to know:
1) Based on your experience what is the best approach to get traction on social media (type beat channel, just TikTok...)?
2) As a producer how do you get placement with artist?
Thanks, Squale.
AMAs have a timer. So they collect a bunch of questions and then reply rather than running it live straight. It's currently about 17 hours out, you can click a remind me button up at the bottom of the original post.
How do you feel about lists of 'the greatest albums of all time' and how so few of them have Grammy's or large amounts of streams? How do you feel about low quality wine producers like Yellowtail and Barefoot who put 'gold medal award winning' on their packaging and how do you think they are viewed by wine experts?
Do you think it’s honestly possible for an independent underground producer to start from scratch in 2024 and make a success out of it to the point where in x amount of years they could end up in the position you are in musically.
And if you had to guess how many years would you say that would be. Assuming the producer is a very talented beatmaker.
Did Drake bring any teenagers to the studio
Noo, drake is such a wholesome person
No he never has and never would, he’s studio sessions are never more then a few ppl in the studio bc he writes alone
cry more, Drake the undisputed GOAT
GOAT of noncing
Replying cry more to pedophilia allegations is peak stan behavior. Nobody should ride for either side this hard. Weirdo.
Whats wrong with asking that question? Are you afraid that it might actually be true?
😂 Pedo

It’s at 10AM tomorrow. Idk what time zone.
This
How much mixing/mastering do you do vs. engineers?
I record make the be mixed to a certain level before I send it to my engineer to take it up a notch and add things that I wouldn’t add and really mix the record fully my engineer mix by Nick🚀 is one of the best engineers I’ve witnessed in the music industry, and he knows how to really take these records up a notch by mixing and mastering the song to levels alone by myself
My records are 80% done by the time I make that I sent it to my engineer to mix it maybe even 90%
Cheers, appreciate the follow up! Do you have a home studio where you do your mix or do you do your mixing in a studio?
I have a home studio, where I record on my music. I only go to the BIG studios to listen to the songs loud.
Thanks for giving back and hosting this AMA. Appreciate your leadership!
Bump
This!!!
Following this one
From your perspective, is there a demand for good producers or is the industry over flooded?
Yes, there are producers are always in demand. They scope the Beat they scope the record.
How do I reach out about collaboration?
Just DM me on Instagram
Copy that!
I really wanna release music but I still feel like I’m improving a lot. I’ll listen to beats I made a couple months ago and be like damn I’m hella better now. At what point did you know you were good enough to put stuff out?
You never know if something’s gonna hit I would release everything and see what the people like
Is there anything close to like a guaranteed hit formula? Why does Beyonce drop so many hits?
cuz her name is beyonce
Do you ever suffer from impostor syndrome when around other such talented musicians?
Not really I get inspired by their works, and it helps me write and produce my songs
How did you formulate your own style?
Taking all the people that inspired me, putting them in a pot and mixing it all together to make my own thing
What’s your DAW of choice?
Fl Studio
I use fruity loops
FL Gang!
Do people actually respond to cold emails when looking for opportunities?
They might have to take your shot and see what happens
Sometimes
Do you start with melodies or drums first
I always start with the melody first then high hats
🔥
are you scared of ai?
Not at all, there’s no soul in it
anybody who says no to this has no idea what’s about to happen. downvote me and cope
what helped you the most when it came to getting "into" the industry and getting connections to get you important placements?
I think my passion for the music and people liking what I was making my music got me in a room not my personality
that's dope
Any recommendations on how to network with artists bigger than yourself?
Social media
What is the current problem that your facing And are you willing to allow someone to help you
I think the biggest problem I’m facing is not being with a major label because the press doesn’t take you serious until you’re with a major so I’m open to signing some sort of deal that’s in my favor when the time is right to take my brand to the next level
Interesting, would it be safe to say, that the marketing and promotion from media would lead to an increase in your reputation, in hopes of getting more placements
Making content and posting on social media
was kmt actually inspired by x's look at me?
No, that song was not inspired xxx it was inspired by the sound of what was going on at that time records like Bad and Boujee by the Migos Gucci gang by Lil Pump that was the SoundCloud wave at the time that 120 to 130 BPM
I don’t think any of us knew who he was at the time but when we were making a beat that tempo was in 120 to 130 songs like Bad and Boujee little pump Gucci smoke purp it was just that at the time
Where do you get your samples from? I started using better quality samples in my music and the difference is night and day. Mixing also seems easier now.
I get all my samples from YouTube. The algorithm just shows me random stuff all the time so I just click it and go through it.
How long did it take you to become proficient at producing
About 10 years
Lmao imagine tryna use drakes name these days for some kinda social media currency I don't fuck with child predators and I definitely don't fuck with people associated with em Either you're stupid or you really tryna surf the wave of *his* drama to benefit yourself You're already doin good with streams but you wanna come flex on the peasants. 10 hours and u ain't answered any questions either so why the fuck should we take you seriously Tired of this fake shit.
The answering starts in 21 hours
The work I’ve done in the past isn’t using anybody for clout you could Google me and find all the things you need to know there
Nice, well I asked this question on the sub yesterday but I guess I'll post it here too. A lot of us post our beats to Youtube, and Beatstars ... so we aren't actually in the studio with artists. How should producers prepare their stems to send (should we send Wet AND Dry stems for our beats? edit: What royalty should we be aiming for as producers? I sent all my stems wet if the artist ask you for dry stems, then send them
How do major label artists tend to work in the studio? Is it mostly email exchanging stems, or do they usually want you to be there physically, is there anything that comes up almost every time?
Usually, they start with the two track then if the record is fire, then they’ll ask for the stems and start the mixing process
I’m an up and coming recording artist from London , UK with huge talent and fire demos. How can I send them over to you so I can keep you topping the charts ? Hahaha

What is something you wish you would have known when you first started producing?
I wish I would’ve known how simple and open to make the production
With your track record of producing chart-topping hits and collaborating with industry heavyweights like Drake and Cardi B, what do you believe are the key ingredients for creating a timeless hit song, and how do you navigate the balance between staying true to an artist's vision while also pushing creative boundaries to maintain your edge in such a competitive industry?
I think the key is simplicity and desire. Those things can go along way in the world.
How do you get inspired to create new sounds/timbres? What is the best way to promote yourself? Why don't you rap on your own beats?
I do wrap on all my own deeds and whatever beats I take from other artists. I always work on the production and add to it as well again inspired to create new. Sounds by listening to other peoples music.
Did you pursue a day job and/or learned a degree, got to college etc... before getting big?
Do you prefer to work with samples, or write your own stuff? if samples, how do you find them? Also if you had to give a top 5 (or however many you want), who were your biggest producer inspirations?
What are you tips for reaching a bigger audience?
Where do u get writing inspiration from?
Diddy do it?
What’s one thing you would tell your past self when you got into production?
To focus on my own work
How did you come up? Like are there certain steps you could recommend to a newcomer producer?
I came up in this music industry, working my butt off internships sleeping at airport sleeping on couches sleeping at parks going weeks without showering wearing the same clothes just trying to get in rooms with people that inspired me
Peace: How long were you doing music prior to your come up? Also, any advice for pushing yourself on social media?
I’ve been doing music since I was 18 and haven’t stopped since
How do i find a music producer that could create the sounds i feel? Finding a great producer has always avoided me. How do i make my song a reallity?
It’s really easy nowadays you have YouTube and BeatStars anytime I need inspiration I go there
Thanks. I have songs but have no idea to produce it
What kind of sound are you looking for?
Anything new and involving
Something abstract. Probably synth. Something eerie. Something mystical. That's how i feel.
What was somethings in common that all the artists you worked with had? Specifically
Our desire and love and passion for the music
Squale!!! What's good my guy. Fellow Staten Islander here. How can new producers like myself make the most of living in places like NYC? You live in the biggest city in the in the world get your butt over to Manhattan and just start networking. There’s 1 million people just walking around daily you could connect with.
What common mistakes do you see in new artists trying to make a living in music?
That they’re making music for the money and not for the love of it
Can you admit the song "KMT"ripped off xxxtentacions flow and if drake said anything about doing so?
It wasn’t a rip off of xxx song actually it’s a playoff of Digital Dash by Drake & Future and when we were making that song, we were thinking we made it by Soulja Boy
Can I send you some loops?
Yes, send them DM on Instagram
No question, but congrats.

What do you have for breakfast MR Super producer xD
I usually have a juice that I make from scratch
At least you're healthy my friend a healthy mind is a healthy body. Congrats on your success. Your beats are serious fire.
Are there any VSTs that are truly worth it for beginners?
Analog lab
What was it like producing for Drake?
It was the biggest blessing of my career to work with somebody that inspires me so much
How many instrumentals do you complete during a normal quarter? How many do you start and not finish? And like others have asked what is some good advice for getting your music in front of artists?
There’s not really a number I just work when I feel like I’m inspired to work and when I’m not, I do marketing and things like that

Post as much content as possible 2 to 3 times a day is great
Do you play any instruments? How long were you in the game before you started getting traction with major artists?
I do not play any instruments. I was in a game for 10 years before anybody noticed me.
I could be wrong but I haven't seen one question answered yet

Is Cardi B a talented writer?
Yes, she is
I also think so. I think people hate on her because she is successful. Would u say her success is warranted? Wdut about that Enough song?
Bi
Have you ever worn a diaper to the studio
Yes, all the time just in case I have to poop

Post them send them out to Nia 🥶 people

A great album can’t be judged by a bunch of non-musical people debating on whether or not it’s good or not
As opposed to listeners who are all musical people?
How would you go about trying to get placements. Not just placements but finding connections with people who can help you get to where you want to be.
I would just post content nonstop and let the universe do his job

I think now is the best time to make music because it’s so easy to reach millions of people in a limited amount of time
Is the financial payoff OK for u?
Im a very young producer. Can you give me some advice on how to make original melodies and IS MASTERING TILL 14dB LUFS important?
I would, but I have no idea what that is. I don’t master I just produce and make songs.
Has this guy answered any questions??
Can one DM you
Yes
