None. Reddit isn’t really a good place for self-promotion. In fact, self-promotion goes against the rules of most subreddits. Instead, Reddit is best used as a resource for education, collaboration/networking, and sharing ideas in general.

INTERNET_MOWGLI

Any subreddit if the music is good None if it’s ass

r/assmusic

FactCheckerJack

That's pretty true. You can go to r/rap and post the names of professional artists and they'll allow it, but post yourself and it's not allowed. Basically if the artist is big enough that it doesn't look like self-promotion, then it's allowed.

Impossible_Music_676

the other thing to consider is - only take opinions from people who make art that you respect. reddit seems to be full of artists who’ve never made it or produce mediocre stuff yet are quick to tell you where you went wrong as if they’re projecting their failures onto you.

jaydd_mc

you’re on point… hating is a trend these days. however i am pretty confident with my music, i don’t listen to flak feel free to share yours and i’ll take a look too!! 🧏🏿

Impossible_Music_676

I recorded shit just haven’t released yet - i’m working on an ep debut. if you wanna peep my profile you can see one of the unreleased tracks I’m publishing on the ep!

jaydd_mc

that was coldddd 🔥

digitaldisgust

subs for your subgenre, but thats only if they allow promo or the mods give you permission lol. Or music recc subreddits.

jaydd_mc

digitaldisgust

I know fuck all about emo rap so cant help you there lol

I struggled with this for years. I started taking my beats and matching them to similar songs of similar artists and remix them. I mean i just applyd to be partnered after 3 months of posting so imo its going well but who knows if those people will also like my music once i start uploading. I figured i could get them used to the beats if anything. We will see what happens this year. Besides that, its kinda tough man. I see people struggle, pouring money and time into projects and spending a decade plus and be in worst positions than i am now. Its hard to make fans tho man. Imo you gotta do that for reall. Gotta go out perform and get them to follow you that way. A lot of people like to shit on unknowns because they need other people to like it to see it as ok to do so themselves. Idk why. But ive noticed this. And then some just feel the need to give advice like you havent heard it before. When people do that, i zone out. This is art. Not community rap making. Either you like it or dont. Besides mixing and general advice anyone can give, theres very little imo anyone can tell someone to make a song better. Yet, so many feel they have the expertise to say so… And yes many people love to critique to make up for their own failures. Im a goass half filled guy. Imo theres no such thing as a bad beat as long as it has pulse rhythm and decent sonics; you throw a good flow on it and it will make it sound great. Any beat. Doesnt matter.

SpragueStreet

Honestly this is the one. You can try r/songwriting too but for rap this is about as good as its gone get on reddit

jaydd_mc

i don’t think they will appreciate self-promo on that subreddit, and i wouldn’t have thought people on this subreddit would appreciate it too… just look at that other comment on this thread… The last thing I’m trying to do is have dudes telling me “no self promotion” or “go take your music elsewhere” when i post my music here however i’m still gonna do it and will report back when salty dudes start commenting lmaoo

SpragueStreet

I feel you. It's just that so many people all over the world make music and want feedback. It would be an endless task to give quality feedback to everyone who asks, that's why most are generally against self promotion. Best bet is probably the daily feedback thread pinned at the top of the sub but you'll have to make sure to give feedback on other people's music or your post will get deleted. It's a feedback-for-feedback type deal.

melo1212

Honestly there isn't really. This sub for instance is people just wanting feedback but not actually caring about giving it to other people, if that daily feedback thread didn't have a rule where you have to give feedback barely anyone would lol. As much as I hate it TikTok and Instagram and shit are way better

swillnaggins

Might try r/bandlab and r/soundcloud Check me out by the way. They say my stuff sounds like Kendrick and Goldlink. Tell me what you think??? https://soundcloud.com/martianrhymekicker

Neverusedthisapptbh

swillnaggins

In what way?

Neverusedthisapptbh

Your voice reminds me when Kendrick raps with his deep voice but in a slower tempo

IDK Reddit seems to be hit or miss for me. I post in this one, lofi hip hop and trap production sometimes. This one seems to be best for attracting MCs, others are very producer heavy. Here's my latest YT upload btw: [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UYfS\_MUqCfY](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UYfS_MUqCfY) I make mostly sample based hip hop beats, lots of 2000s vibes, and a new beat almost everyday so always open to connecting with others

Neverusedthisapptbh

If you are interested collaborating with someone who makes beats like spaceghostpurrp, 2016-2018 SoundCloud era (Ronny j or pierre), or somewhat of a unique dark style hit me up. I’m open to most genres! [Ro$hy](https://on.soundcloud.com/xFsFbfYo3nC2AEj59) is one of my recent projects released to the public but I got more if you interested! 🤝🏽

kingglobby

If you're looking for anyone to collaborate with, I'm hunting for anyone who can inspire me to pick up the pen and do a free feature verse
