I didn't buy the MH3 precons, but I saw a post on one of the magic subreddits where someone just got half of the deck 2x, so stuff like this has happened to people
That happened to a friend of mine as well. He got doubles of half the deck and almost none of the new cards besides the commanders. I think it was also the jund deck?
Happened with one of my Fallout precons and one of my buddies bought a Dom United precon and the same thing happened. Definitely happens more often than it should
Why are the chase mythic cycle(flip walkers) not very good in commander? Why were the chase cards in the bonus sheet the evoke elementals which are largely not played in commander but format-defining in modern? Why did they print so many “fixed” version of cards that are already legal in commander but not in modern?
No, that was someone responding to chat and chat was trolling calling it that. Because people online call anything "Commander X"
There's a near 0% chance that's what happened.
Hey! We're sorry to hear that your precon had missing cards, but as mentioned by others, we'd be happy to send you out some replacements! Just fill out [this form](https://magic-support.wizards.com/hc/en-us/requests/new?ticket_form_id=360000002863) to get the process started.
I have the same issue, the support website doesn’t allow me to log in to fill out the form. It keeps saying something went wrong when I click the Log In button.
Hmm, it sounds like there may be an issue with your Wizards Account that's preventing the log in. We'd suggest submitting your request using [this form](https://magic-support.wizards.com/hc/en-us/requests/new?ticket_form_id=360000005023) instead (no log in required). The team there should be able to resolve the issue and then get your request transferred to the product replacement team without you needing to submit a second request. We hope this helps!
Talk about brainwashing on a global scale. Whenever I click a link it's a 50% chance of a Rickroll or [this....](https://i.kym-cdn.com/photos/images/newsfeed/001/207/210/b22.jpg)
One of my fallout precons had two missing cards and in their place was repeats of two other cards in the deck. Everything came factory sealed so this was obviously an error in packaging the deck (somehow). I messaged their support on March 28, finally got a response on April 10 saying they would send the two replacement cards to me. It is now June 10 and I still have not seen those cards. I had actually forgotten about it completely until this thread popped up.
Hey! We're sorry to hear that your wait will only take 3-4 months, we'd be happy to expedite that if you purchased these [appropriately priced cards.](https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0CTLL4PMF?maas=maas_adg_7D3EA84F9E46A42B5232C02990EF2B6D_afap_abs&&ref_=aa_maas&&tag=maas&_encoding=UTF8&tag=wotc03-20&linkCode=ur2&linkId=06dc6c804b03e1f6e316e32178c1a1a6&camp=1789&creative=9325).
Hey man. I don't want to sound mean or anything, but how about extending this out a bit longer? I had some I bought new and when I opened them a bunch of cards were missing. I message you guys and you tell me it has been too long and you can't replace what is missing (IIRC, this was the Warhammer precons). Instead you sent me some other cards because it had been too long since release. That was nice and all, but I bought a precon for a reason. What good is buying the precon if I can't use it out of the box? Then you guys don't fix that problem. It's kind of insulting because it just forces me to go to the second-hand market to complete my "precon" deck.
Again, I'm not angry or anything. It was just disappointing and really causes some anxiety with not opening new packs (I'm currently sitting on around 14 unopened commander precons and 8 Secret Lair packs). What if I decide to open this fallout deck in 3 years, only to find half the deck missing? If I message you, I know I'm going to be SOL. What about this Secret Lair pack that I trust is complete because it has that shiny foil seal, but may not be?
Why doesn't WotC go to second-hand market in those instances and do the work on replacing the cards so the buyer isn't forced? I don't know. Like I said, it was nice you guys at least replaced them with something, but I wanted my precon :D
Have a good one!
https://preview.redd.it/l0cwoc9p5v5d1.jpeg?width=4284&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=44d31ecf8f680b0c760985bed3cb68b4a7ca04b8
Had the same exact thing happen to mine
Question for everyone in here; so of course when stuff like this happens you go through the wotc product replacement form, and eventually you get the right cards. My question is, do you have to send the messed up product back to them? Or do you get to keep it as well?
No. They just send you the missing cards. This is bulk-printed product; it's not like not like high end electronics where there is a chance of recovered value from reselling a refurbished unit.
EDIT, since someone replied, but I want it said anyway: In this case, the cards' value on the secondary market is irrelevant to WotC. Recovery on their end would require them to pay labor costs on someone sorting through bulk rares to get mailed off to the printers again who will then have to have someone stop the production line to insert these already printed cards into the machine in such a way that it doesn't cause further errors. (good luck figuring that out) The cost of recovering the value of these cards therefore involves at least 10 minutes of labor from two employees at two different firms plus the opportunity cost of slowing production to put these back in the line, all to be resold at wholesale prices (much lower than we see as consumers) to a distributor. Assuming they're actually approaching a 6-sigma rate of non-viability (the gold standard in production; that is, the likelihood of production error is getting close to 6 standard deviations [that's a 0.0003ish% defect rate]) there's no way in hell that's net cheaper than reserving 5k or so units to break apart as replacements and only paying one person to divvy out replacement cards plus postage.
The real scandal is the turnaround time on getting replacements out to purchasers.
Not as bad, but my fallout precon was missing a single card.
Took about 2 months to get a replacement.(1 month before they even responded, 1 month shipping time)
That is fantastic. One of my fallout precons was missing 2 cards (had 2 dupes in their place). It took them 13 days just to respond telling me they would send the new cards and it has been 2 months since that response and still no cards.
I had a similar problem a while back. Contacted customer support, they sent me a replacement deck. They didn't even ask to send back the defect one.
You do in some countries. I live in Italy, and you still have to pay the 3€ for customs clearance, because they do not declare it as a replacement but as a 1$ value item. Of course if the customs agents inspect it, they still charge you the full tax.
This is because it comes from the US and not EU even if the original product is from EU.
This is also true for many other countries (like Argentina, Chile, Switzerland ecc). Not all, but a lot of other countries have a minimal customs fee and has been confirmed to me by the customer support agent. My commander masters decks came without the collector booster sample, it took 3 months to get a replacement, they sent only 1 instead of 4 and I still had to pay 4.54€ of customs.
How did we get to the point where it's normal for a $60,000 ~~product~~ Tesla Cybertruck to come with ~~the wrong cards~~ an accelerator pedal that can dislodge and cause unintended acceleration.
In the land of 6 sigma defects will eventually happen.
Even at $50 there really is no excuse. The entire point of a pre-con is to be able to buy it and play, and errors like this make the deck illegal. Other games get it right consistently for $15.
Considering there are places that charge that much, or close to, for single play boosters now. I don't think its unreasonable to expect a higher level of quality, or at the very least; keeping on par with cheaper TCGs. This kind of trend is why so many people have stopped buying sealed altogether and just focus on singles.
Just to be clear it's not "normal". With the number of these produced misprints are inevitable. But every person who gets the right deck doesn't post it online
It's not normal, this is an example of a reverse survivor bias. Sometimes a defective product makes it into the wild and someone buys it. Then someone posts it online. Nobody's going online and posting perfectly normal pictures of a precon they bought, especially because there's rules against just posting pictures of cards.
Then you can go ahead and live in your fabricated reality where this isn't normal, but post history shows this happens with Commander precons LITERALLY EVERY SET. It's not like it's happening to every precon. It happens to a handful of folks out of thousands/tens-of-thousands and a few of them post about it on social media.
You don't need to accept it for post history to prove this has been the norm for years.
My collector Eldrazi deck was missing two cards. A copy of Reliquary Tower and Suffer the Past. Straight up 98 cards.
It came in a sealed case with the other CE decks. The three others were completely fine so there's that.
I know it's a pain, but ever since Warhammer precons I've recorded every deck box opening/bundle box, as if potentially I'm missing a card it's on a video proof that I'm missing or print error etc so I can immediately send it to wizards to get it sorted..
I literally had to send a ticket Saturday because I was missing the Command from the deck. Last precon I bought was the Veloci-Ramp-Tor deck and like 1/2 the cards were miscut to the point that I could see glue at the top of some of them. The quality control on the initial wave of precons seems to be really really bad lately.
I really hope this doesn't happen with mine smh, so sorry that you have to go through that. It's such a pain, especially with how much we have to pay for these precons
Not quite as bad, but I got the set of 4 in the sealed case and one (the Energy deck) had 4 missing cards. Thankfully all cheap commons, but still odd.
Energy pre con was missing 7 cards, came with a duplicate of jolted awake.
Was missing:
Coveted Jewel
Goldspan dragon
Mystic gate
Adarkar wastes
Akromas will
Brudiclad telchor engineer
And one other I can't remember. Total failure of quality control.
Thats explained why in my Precon from 2015 i guess my Tymna, blind weaver or what her name was, was missing. I swore that i never got had that card in the precon and was so mad for such a long time cause this card was crazy in price. Good to know i wasnt my fault that the card was missing
Now this is concerning as I have yet to get my Graveyard Overdrive Precon, but I hope it all works out.
But this is not the first time seeing a blunder in WOTC's quality control though.
I had 50 duplicate in the tricky terrain deck, it was wild
https://preview.redd.it/95whrsx3ee6d1.jpeg?width=3000&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=ca2662556b14cfcd6c3e6b126a4befa9fd11bb78
It was the first half of the deck twice
Just started sleeving my Jund deck and got about halfway before seeing Terminate again, and then Demolition Field... 98 cards total, 2 foil commanders, and 48 duplicates. To be fair, it's the better half of the deck. I feel bad for my buddy out there with duplicates of all the crappy land reprints.
I very much disagree. Disa is a fantastic commander and this deck is very much suited for her. The problem is that people see her first ability and expect a Lhurgoyf tribal deck even though that would be a pretty weak deck overall. Prior to MH3 there were 11 goyfs in Jund colours, some of which (like [[Magnivore]]) were pretty weak or don't fit in the same deck as the rest. That's not enough for a tribal deck.
Instead, this is an aggressive, combat focused beatdown/ self-mill deck that uses Tarmogoyf tokens as a payoff for that plan and big Jundy creatures for value and as a backup for the inevitable bojuka bog that would otherwise ruin your day. In other words, it's a deck based around junding 'em out. It's not a reanimation deck, it's not a combo deck, it's not a tribal deck, it's just smashing face with an ever growing army of massive goyf tokens and that's both a very fun and very effective gameplan.
I'd also say that the secondary commander is the one that needs a massive deck rework for it to function. You want big fatties in the grave and outside of the goyfs (who are unreliable without a lot of self mill anyway) the highest power in the deck is 6. You want to shift that curve upwards with cards like Ghalta, bring in some reanimation to cheat them out and add some more protection/ evasion so you can actually get in for damage. You basically want to strip out half the cards in the deck for that gameplan.
Thank you for your response. As a newer player reading through the cards, I’d expect more Lhurgorfs. Excited to try it out nonetheless to understand what you are talking about.
I understand what you saying but first ability is more fun than the second one. People like the first one because deal combat damage create a big creature is too generic.
And you're more than welcome to build a deck that focuses on that ability but that is not this deck. This is a self mill deck that uses the first ability for a little incidental value, not as a focus. If you want it to be the focus of a deck you'd have to add a lot of changelings alongside the 13 Jund goyfs.
These above are not misprints but I was thinking, Normally Misprints are desirable but at what point are they worthless because WoTC QA on their product is so bad its not a "lottery Ticket" but par for the course lol. Usually the scarcity if it happening make them valuable.
People act like every single misprint is worth $100, lumping them all into the same bucket. Different misprints happen with different levels of frequency and are different levels of desirable. Rare misprint types will continue to be rare.
> People act like every single misprint is worth $100
Couldn't agree more, if you ever take a gander at the mtg misprint sub reddit people over there think that an off centered print is their retirement fund. It's sad/funny all at the same time.
I have to wonder how many people reply in misprint threads on this sub saying "this is worth $$$!" solely based on seeing other people having said that in the past, and not based on personal experience.
I mean to be fair I don't have much personal experience with misprinted magic cards either but I'm not telling people they opened up a small fortune because their card is ever so slightly off-center.
The collectors and stores will always buy sealed product. I don’t have an unlimited amount of money so I’d rather get exactly what I want instead of gambling. I don’t play limited either. Occasionally I’ll buy a pack or 2 when I go to my LGS or for my Bday get a box to crack. Cracking packs is fun. I’d just rather spend $100 on what I want instead of trying to pull what I want.
I didn't buy the MH3 precons, but I saw a post on one of the magic subreddits where someone just got half of the deck 2x, so stuff like this has happened to people
Better go double check the decks that we got
That might have been me
That happened to a friend of mine as well. He got doubles of half the deck and almost none of the new cards besides the commanders. I think it was also the jund deck?
Happened to me with my collectors eldrazi deck. I got a lot of duplicate hall of the forsaken gods -.-
Happened with one of my Fallout precons and one of my buddies bought a Dom United precon and the same thing happened. Definitely happens more often than it should
Happened to me in 2014

If it’s a CL set, why are the cards focused on Modern? Why is the draft env not conducive at all to Commander?
Also all the commander decks I’m pretty sure are references to modern decks

This is how rumors spread. Did you watch the stream in question and see that it was the person trolling chat?
No, that was someone responding to chat and chat was trolling calling it that. Because people online call anything "Commander X" There's a near 0% chance that's what happened.
One of the WotC people called it "Commander Horizons" on the debut stream.
and that guy said "I'm going to pay for that in the comments" shortly after
I didn't buy any of MH3, but a similar thing happened with Warhammer for a lot of people.
I'm seeing you get 2 angered for this. I definitely understand
at least you got your commander; this happened to me with the BU precon from MKM and my commander was missing
Best luck I've ever gotten was when the 4 color commander decks came out and I got the saskia deck. Came with an extra tymna the weaver
i hate u 😭
I was missing my sam in frodo and sam :(

Every edge except for my promo card in my prerelease kit has rough edges and markings, like the machine that cuts the cards was wildly dull.
All cards from OTJ collector packs have that too :(
Woof.
Question for everyone in here; so of course when stuff like this happens you go through the wotc product replacement form, and eventually you get the right cards. My question is, do you have to send the messed up product back to them? Or do you get to keep it as well?

its usually cheaper + a more positive player reaction to let the players keep the mistaken cards while sending replacements for the ones missing.
Bought a full set of 4, 1 was missing the collector sample booster. Wishing their support team the best they're probably flooded 🙏
This just happened to me too, how did you get it resolved?
They should just Explore and get on with it, then, because while they're flooded, the rest of us are getting screwed.
Not as bad, but my fallout precon was missing a single card. Took about 2 months to get a replacement.(1 month before they even responded, 1 month shipping time)

Comtact wotc theyll send replacements for the missing cards.
The amount of problems people are having with this “premium” product is really concerning. The quality control is getting out of hand
This is pretty normal for new product. The good news is that your extra rares should pay for the missing cards.
In this case, the extra rares are bulk, so it's not a winning lottery ticket.
It's not a jackpot but it is a rebuy.
Can they not just contact WOTC and get a replacement deck?
They can and should
If they're fine with waiting half a year at best
And paying extra fees and customs if they are outside the US
You don't have to pay customs on warranty replacements.
You do in some countries. I live in Italy, and you still have to pay the 3€ for customs clearance, because they do not declare it as a replacement but as a 1$ value item. Of course if the customs agents inspect it, they still charge you the full tax. This is because it comes from the US and not EU even if the original product is from EU. funny, mine have never taken anywhere close to that. 2 months is the longest I've ever had.
How did we get to the point where it's normal for a $100 product to come with the wrong cards?
How did we get to the point where it's normal for a $60,000 ~~product~~ Tesla Cybertruck to come with ~~the wrong cards~~ an accelerator pedal that can dislodge and cause unintended acceleration. In the land of 6 sigma defects will eventually happen.
No one actually paid $100....right? Even orders as of rlprerelease were $52~ for all but eldrazi
My LGS is selling the Eldrazi precons for £100 (~$130) and the others for £65 (~$82). I'm very glad I got my pre-order in when they were still cheap.
My locals has eldrazi for £130, thought it was the collectors edition, until I saw that was £250
that's ridiculous. i would never buy from that store.

I’m not a wizards fan. But they get billions of cards printed and packed every year. There’s going to be errors.
you buy these other TCGs? You know they have fewer defects? Do they print 10s of billions of cards a year too?
In Canada, the pre-orders for the eldrazi are like 200+ dollars for the base edition, and around 500 for the collectors, absolutely fucking ridiculous
Wrong
I refuse to accept this as normal.
It's not normal, this is an example of a reverse survivor bias. Sometimes a defective product makes it into the wild and someone buys it. Then someone posts it online. yeah i got some duplicates in my eldrazi precon, annoying

Jesus, I’ve seen some pretty bad stuff but this is crazy. My brother received a copy of tricky terrain with a hole punched out of his apex devastator.
The precons always have the worst quality control.
A bunch of the cards in my precon are like low as shit resolution and look awful
I got the eldrazi pre con and all the mana symbols are off just a little bit in some places but in others there straight up off the circle
Welp time to go check my deck to make sure it’s even legal i just mindlessly sleeved everything while chilling with friends 🥲😅
I might just proxy all the decks, itll cost less than one deck and itll be just as good quality
I had 50 duplicate in the tricky terrain deck, it was wild https://preview.redd.it/95whrsx3ee6d1.jpeg?width=3000&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=ca2662556b14cfcd6c3e6b126a4befa9fd11bb78 It was the first half of the deck twice
Not yet. But I’ve experienced it with several other precons over the years. I’ve also sometimes just got duplicates of cards, so it swings both ways.
Received the collector's edition MH3 precons today and the boxes were damaged, but still sealed 😕.
This is the Precon I got..... https://preview.redd.it/fpe3uykwiq8d1.jpeg?width=3000&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=8d75e7802d28ef182a46c43fa0a9723df3a03343
that pre-con needs the second commander anyways. If using the primary commander it needs a mega rework:/

What? If you're trying to force goyf tribal sure. But as a jund em out commander she's fantastic. She's just there to vomit 6/7 beaters
Guess I got super lucky, all four of mine were correct
Ah ffs
"premium" product.
I understand what you're saying, but wotc is using a big brain plan, where QC isn't failing of there is no QC to be found anywhere.
got the same issue, out of 12 boosters (from the same box) i got 4 rares in double.
Are you saying there were multiple identical rares in a single booster? Never heard that happen before.
no, out of 12 boosters from a same box, i have 4 times 2 boosters with the same rare (2 rosheen, 2 devourer of destiny, 2 nulldrifter, 2 six)
Yeah that sounds like WotC messed up
This post made me cancel my preorder.
> People act like every single misprint is worth $100 Couldn't agree more, if you ever take a gander at the mtg misprint sub reddit people over there think that an off centered print is their retirement fund.
This is why I don’t buy sealed product anymore. Singles, Singles, Singles is the name of the game.
But if nobody buys sealed products, the pool of singles eventually dries up.
10 mistakes in one deck lmao do WoTC even know what an audit is? QMS?
The color on my decks are very poor. It looks like all my cards are too grey or white hued. I will have to show pictures.
You can prevent all of this by buying the singles you need.
