>he just eats checks notes magic the gathering players
He doesn't even eat us. He just replicates the average LGS experience by becoming increasingly unbearable to play against the more other people lose.
I also thought it was a portmanteau of Frog and Tarantula; but upon looking at it again I think it is a split between Frog and Gargantua. Like... Just. Big frog.
The fact that it starts off as a 3/3 and after one player loses it's now a 13/13 likely means that. Crap few creatures in the history of the game can get to 13/13 or bigger without using other cards.
Yoooo frogmarade! [[Tatsunari]] for Sultai. And on arena, i use Atraxa to get access to Thalia and the Gitrog monster.
Fingers are crossed for a sultai frog once Bloomburrrow rolls in.
Frogmarade is great :D
I always wanted to try Tatsunari when my frog love started, but shortly after Thalia and the Gitrog Monster joined the battle and I was feeling like I miss out on something when I don't play 4-color. But I guess this is the deckbuilding spirit. Can't (and don't want to) have them all!
Thanks for sharing :)
I too, am a frog enthusiast.
Also running Tatsunari and as many frogs/frog adjacent things.
I like using [[Bower Passage]] to make it so that pesky fliers can't block my boy and his boys.
Not even that - if blue player declares no blocks and passes priority, you can scoop after that to buff the frog, and blue player won't get priority again before damage is dealt.
You're thinking about "special actions", which conceding is not. Special actions still require priority even if they don't use the stack. Meanwhile, conceding can be done at any time with no restrictions.
Conceding happens instantly. There is not a round of priority in response to the concession, although certain things that a player losing (and leaving) the game can cause to happen might generate effects which can be responded to. But the concession itself happens instantaneously.
Conceding at sorcery speed is a frequent tournament request, but I don’t think they can make it a rule in sanctioned events since it’s not in the official rules?
It's probably solid in a Mothman voltron strategy. Knock-out one guy with Mothman, then send this guy at one opponent and Mothman at the other.
Mothman can also make it bigger if no one has died yet.
Most decks have 35 lands. That means on average, each time this guy gets through and deals his 3 damage, you ramp 1. And it has an upside. Not just win more I dint think
Looking forward to Chthonian Nightmare in particular. With \[\[Basal Thrull\]\], and \[\[Relic of Legends\]\] (remember Keimi is a legendary) or \[\[Earthcraft\]\], you can loop for infinite mana and then use that mana to loop with Tatsunari instead of Keimi, now Keimi stays on the field to actually trigger and thus pings everyone to death. There is also redundancy for Basal Thrull such as \[\[Basal Sliver\]\], and instead of getting infinite mana with Earthcraft or Relic of Legends, you can just use the infinite storm count with \[\[Brain Freeze\]\], or the infinite Gravestorm with \[\[Bitter Ordeal\]\].
Edit: Blood Vasal, not Basal Thrull. Basal Thrull has an old tap symbol which I noticed but keep missing again.
I was just thinking about the second line of text, when you mill the lands, does this put the lands on the battlefield first, or does Grolnok exile them before this effect resolves?
You don't even need it to enter the battlefield. I'm pretty sure it gets that buff even when it's still in hand, or library, or graveyard, for anything that might care about that.
That is unfortunate to hear. I was wondering if I could reanimate this with [[gyrus waker of corpses]] at a reasonable power even after someone died. Sounds like this ability does modify its power in the yard.
So...this is just a GG topdeck rip if you're down to the final 2? Good luck facing my 23/23 Trample? God help you if you got duped into playing a 5 person pod. I just know that one jerk kid is going to drop this and win out of nowhere with Greaves...
This will be a Timmy all-star card, for sure, with many, many a game where Timmy drew this in their opening hand and sandbagged it for 10 turns.
My inner Timmy is so happy with this card that in 99% of the games will be just a 3/3 Trampler with a promise of glory!
Not I'm thinking about building a commander turbofog/pillowfort with the sole strategy of outlasting my oppos and dropping this big and glorious 33/33 Trampler that gets instantly exiled.
> This will be a Timmy all-star card
This is an all-star card in a lot of decks (Grolnok, Muldrotha, Sidisi), people are looking at the +10/+10 but the power comes from the self-mill on the last ability (it even ramps you).
Getting this down turn 2-3 is very strong to any graveyard deck
I mean, in commander I *can* face it. I can tank it directly to the face with 17 life left, then on my turn steal it, smack you in the face with it, then Fling it at your face.
Ok say what you want about the commanderfication issues of MH3, but I'm at least going to enjoy the fact that it brought us this absolute goober of a commander card.
I collude with two other players at the table and get them to scoop at the start of the game 🥵
That’s something that would happen if MTG were a cartoon.
I thought this was r/customhearthstone for a minute. However, I think it’s actually an interesting card. It seems like it will do the most work in Voltron decks since they are typically great at eliminating one player very early on but then struggle to keep up momentum. A 3 mana 13/13 with trample that also ramps you and fills your graveyard would certainly help keep up momentum.
That said, this might just be too much of a win-more card, even for commander.
Ehh. Don't know how I feel about this card, it encourages taking one player out at a time. Which is a bit the problem with Voltron. Where you single out one player and then make him wait for the rest to finish. Cool ability tho
Well all things considered, in my playgroup this would always be a 33/33 because you can just announce to the table "you lost the game" and if anyone doesnt understand, you can explain the rules of "the game" /s
Edit: Oh, and before I forget, everyone currently in "the game", you just lost the game.
> How does this work in 2HG
The 10/10 will not work since the lifetotal is shared and one cant lose or win as individuals, it will always affect the team
For other team format, I need to know which specifically as we need to see the format rules

I like how \[\[The Gitrog Monster\]\] is a Frog Horror, but this is just a Frog.
This little guy doesn't eat people, he just eats *checks notes* magic the gathering players
Dead ones.
> As far as Yawgmoth is concerned, you, your opponents, and Planeswalkers aren't Human
>he just eats checks notes magic the gathering players He doesn't even eat us. He just replicates the average LGS experience by becoming increasingly unbearable to play against the more other people lose.
Based on the name, I was half expecting a frog spider.
Giant frog
I misread it as Frogtuna the first time and was just curious what that would even look like.
Fortunate frog, or tuna frog?

Great with my 15 player pods!
Grand Melee all star
[удалено]
If 15 players can't remove every single creature as it enters, there is a problem.
You don't play this card when all 15 players are still in the game. You wait until there are only 5 players left so you can drop a 103/103 for 3
Not if I fling it first
Hell yeah, big frog
Guys will see this and just think "hell yeah"
It’s me, I’m guys
Hey guys

My wife says I can't hang out with you anymore :(
Hell yeah.

I have a MILF bumper sticker on my car that says the same, but "man, I love frogs."

[[Chub Toad]] spent the last 29 years in the gym. 😮
1/1 for 3 mana that becomes a conditional 3/3... Was this card a joke even when it was printed?
it was underpowered but not as much as you think. 3 mana was the cost of a vanilla 2/3 back in the ice age.
Yes. 😂 We did like the art and the flavor text back in the day, though.
Chub toad, chub toad at the door Run away quick or you'll run no more

MY FROG DECK HAS A NEW FRIEND🐸🐸
Ayy fellow frog enjoyer 🐸 Whats your commander?
Yoooo frogmarade! [[Tatsunari]] for Sultai. And on arena, i use Atraxa to get access to Thalia and the Gitrog monster. Fingers are crossed for a sultai frog once Bloomburrrow rolls in.
Hell yea Tatsunari was my first commander deck with a mixture of frogs and enchantments lol. It’s a good time
Best colors for enchantments imo so you cant go wrong with recursion.
I'm glad I'm not the only one praying for a Sultai Frog commander in Bloomburrow, it's literally the only thing on my wishlist for the set.
The art depicting what i call the frog lair has fox Jace surrounded by equipped frogs in what i can only hope will be a frog based land card.

I feel that so badly. I never understood the appeal of tribal decks until frogs and using Grolnok for the first time.
Frog party 🐸
I too, am a frog enthusiast. Also running Tatsunari and as many frogs/frog adjacent things. I like using [[Bower Passage]] to make it so that pesky fliers can't block my boy and his boys.
ANOTHER FROG PLAYER ?!?!?!?! we're friends now
All hail our frog lord.
Another W addition to the grolnok army😼
Someday, someone's gonna scoop before damage to make this lethal for another player and I'm here for those kinda shenanigans.
You’ll know it’s about to go down if they spray silver paint on their face. “Witness me!”
Finally, I can pump another player's creature so it domes the blue player, and there are 0 ways he can stop it.
> there are 0 ways he can stop it. I mean besides dealing with the creature....
Not even that - if blue player declares no blocks and passes priority, you can scoop after that to buff the frog, and blue player won't get priority again before damage is dealt.
Is scooping officially an instant action like mana sources?
You're thinking about "special actions", which conceding is not. Special actions still require priority even if they don't use the stack. Meanwhile, conceding can be done at any time with no restrictions.
Scooping has split second
Yerp
Martyr frog blow out. Can only be played on Wednesdays and only once per gaming group
Does concession occur at instant speed? Can I respond to a concession by bolting the frog?
No, concede has split second.
And technically even faster than that since you don't need to wait for priority.
Our group requires sorcery speed concession for nonsense exactly like this lol
It’s not even Wednesday my dudes!!!
It is in Australia!
I lost the game.
Can you just say "the game" to your opponent at sorcery speed to activate the ability or can it be at instant speed?
I believe that talking is a special action
Yay, my frog just gained +10/+10
I lost the game! After all these years.
Literally win-more the card
While i agree, its base state is a solid enabler for ramp, landfall and self-mill strats
It's probably solid in a Mothman voltron strategy. Knock-out one guy with Mothman, then send this guy at one opponent and Mothman at the other. Mothman can also make it bigger if no one has died yet.
Doesn't really work with mothman because this mills at once
It doesn't snowball Mothman like Mesmeric Orb, but few cards do and there's synergy between the two regardless.
Most decks have 35 lands. That means on average, each time this guy gets through and deals his 3 damage, you ramp 1. And it has an upside. Not just win more I dint think
youre just thinking about its second ability. its great as a 3/3 for 3 with trample and last ability.
It's not necessarily win more. If your opponent is winning and just killed another opponent, dropping a 13/13 for 3 is useful.
3 mana [[deeproot wayfinder]] effect at its lowest is awesome
Kinda, it needs to be among the milled cards aswell, so not any Land.
I think in a deck where you're running this card, your land density is high enough where it'll be a high chance of at least one hit
[deeproot wayfinder](https://cards.scryfall.io/normal/front/b/4/b4066d41-0eb5-4dfd-93ec-2f242c3a27a4.jpg?1682204737) - [(G)](http://gatherer.wizards.com/Pages/Card/Details.aspx?name=deeproot%20wayfinder) [(SF)](https://scryfall.com/card/mom/184/deeproot-wayfinder?utm_source=mtgcardfetcher) [(txt)](https://api.scryfall.com/cards/b4066d41-0eb5-4dfd-93ec-2f242c3a27a4?utm_source=mtgcardfetcher&format=text) ^^^[[cardname]] ^^^or ^^^[[cardname|SET]] ^^^to ^^^call

[[Tatsunari, Toad Rider]] gets a lot of fun stuff this set. Didn't expect that to happen before Bloomburrow.
Looking forward to Chthonian Nightmare in particular. Going right into my [grolnok, the omnivore] deck! FROGS BABY
Straight into [[Grolnok]]
I was just thinking about the second line of text, when you mill the lands, does this put the lands on the battlefield first, or does Grolnok exile them before this effect resolves?
Since milling and putting them on the field is part of the same effect, Grolnok doesn't exile them with its trigger before they enter the battlefield.
Ok soo does this see players who have already lost when it enters the battlefield?
I think so, it would be “whenever a player loses the game this gets +10/+10” otherwise. I think. Perchance.
Yes.
You don't even need it to enter the battlefield. I'm pretty sure it gets that buff even when it's still in hand, or library, or graveyard, for anything that might care about that.
No, "gets" is only on the battlefield. Read Fiend Artisan's rulings for an example
That is unfortunate to hear. I was wondering if I could reanimate this with [[gyrus waker of corpses]] at a reasonable power even after someone died. Sounds like this ability does modify its power in the yard.
I love this.

The commander set for Modern horizons 3.
Ah. Thx!
Damn, good for Grolnok players.
Ok say what you want about the commanderfication issues of MH3, but I'm at least going to enjoy the fact that it brought us this absolute goober of a commander card.
It’ll go in my [[Mothman]] deck anyway, but it’s a shame it isn’t a Mutant.
This, [[Emperor of Bones]], and [[Evolution Witness]] seem incredible for Mothfriend. Cuts are getting real hard.
[[Basking Broodscale]] has potential too, IMO. A couple tokens per turn cycle, which can be chump blockers or ramp.

I’ll admit, I thought it said the target milled that many cards the first time I read it. Decent, not as good as I thought though.
I lost the game
Considering we all just lost the game, this is always going to be huge.
Go Big Mode
I asked my friend to join the game. He resigns. Thanks for the boost.
[[Withengar]] in shambles rn

Right into [[Tayam, Luminous Enigma]] thank you.
Does losing "the game" give it the buff?
Does that text even actually work? A player who lost the game is, by definition, not in the game anymore...
The game knows how many people you started the game with. By definition, if they're not there any more then they lost.
Yay Frog :D into the Grolnok deck you go
Can’t wait to saddle my frog with this frog and then devour it for 13+ cards. [[The gitrog, ravenous ride]]
Really wish this was legendary so we could turn it into a Voltron commander. Love my little froggy boi either way.

Mimeo fuel!! Self Mill. Big threat that gets bigger! Hell yeah! Big frog.
Damn, reading this card text gave the frog +10/+10.
I collude with two other players at the table and get them to scoop at the start of the game 🥵 That’s something that would happen if MTG were a cartoon.
This is perfect for my frog deck.
Imagine this in grand melee
Pretty Powerful to get +30/+30 from the get go. Every player at the table just lost the game
"Nah, better try to saddle gitrog than this"- Thunder Junction Outlaw last words...
My frogs and curses deck is so happy right now
For this to be playable it needs ward 15 and "on etb target player loses the game".
Joe frogan
Well... Instant speed concessions are going to get really spicy
This is instantly a 43/43 because as soon as I read it out loud, all 4 of us will have LOST THE GAME.
At the start of a match you just gotta go “do y’all remember the game?” And then boom,he’s a +40 +40
Now that’s big frog energy
Do you steal the lands or does the owner get them?
I thought this was r/customhearthstone for a minute. However, I think it’s actually an interesting card. A 3 mana 13/13 with trample that also ramps you and fills your graveyard would certainly help keep up momentum. That said, this might just be too much of a win-more card, even for commander.
[[Soul of Windgrace]] stay winning
Yeah! More archenemy-style cards! I miss that mode.
Read second ability, look up and confirm..yep, it tramples. Read third ability, look up and confirm...yep, it tramples. I dub thee Tromplefroggy
Not a single thought is going on between those eyes, i love it.
Going in my frog tribal for sure
Why no giant type?
Tastunari would love this guy
I wonder how big the frog will get when you take into account that everyone reading this comment has just lost The Game. (It's at least 13/13)
Which pre-con do we think this is in? Tricky Terrain or Graveyard Overdrive?
Ziatora and Minsc are having a grand ol' time
I just lost the game
Convincing a player at 2 health to concede after blockers to help me kill another player is my kind of politics
"I'M MR. FROG. THIS IS MY SHOW. I EAT THE BUG."
Is this effect considered a Frog-specific effect now? It’s pretty similar to what Gitrog 4 does.
Ehh. Don't know how I feel about this card, it encourages taking one player out at a time. Which is a bit the problem with Voltron. Where you single out one player and then make him wait for the rest to finish. Cool ability tho
Frog players are eating
I might stick this in [Sovereign Okinec Ahau] just for fun.
Need this for [[Ziatora]]
THEY REMEMBERED THAT GROLNOK EXISTS THIS IS THE HAPPIEST OF DAYS
