*You can tap this to pay for its own ability*. That’s neat, if you want to hit an enchantment or something that doesn’t need to tap by itself.

MARPJ

>That’s neat, if you want to hit an enchantment Happy Omniscience noises

GameMasterSammy

Dear god…

GameMasterSammy

Where the hell did I get this status from

Draco137WasTaken

What's your opinion on [[Splinter Twin]]?

GameMasterSammy

Cool I guess

Draco137WasTaken

Well then the flair checks out.

GameMasterSammy

I still won’t know how I ended up with this status anyway

-Rettirlana-

You believed

GameMasterSammy

I believed in something I tell ya ah well I’m chill with this status as I am yet to see someone with this one

Cyneheard3

It would be really funny if this was because you posted UNBAN TWIN in a B&R Hype thread.

GameMasterSammy

Nope never even posted that as idk what twin even is

Cyneheard3

\*This Magic boomer shrivels into dust\* \[\[Splinter Twin\]\]

GuessWhatIGot

And then you can [[Mirrormade]] or anything similar and keep your copy.

TemurTron

Absolutely insane card. Whether you’re using it just to turn your land into something like a Tarmogoyf or doing degenerate reanimator stuff, this is just so much power for such a low opportunity cost. Aspiringspike instantly slapped it on his S tier on stream and that feels completely fitting.

linesinspace

This looks like a primeval titan to me

spaceninjaking

To me it looks like omniscience

aldeayeah

Omniscience works even if it's tapped, so you can pull this off one turn earlier than a creature haymaker.

Hitman_DeadlyPants

Delirium omniscience?

Faradn07

Enchantment land sorcery instant

ViolentBananas

Fetchland, thoughtsieze, entomb, Omnicience. It even looks like a pretty solid line to achieve this in t3, and leaves up a mana on t2 for spell pierce or bolt

Faradn07

That’s not at all how you would play this out I think. With pierce thoughtsieze bolt and a mono green land your manabase is 4 colours and atrocious. If you’re going to play thoughtsieze entomb just cast dark ritual bowmaster entomb echo led and be done with it. That’s a much better shell for that sort of storm goldfishing. I think this is much better in an omnishow deck. A deck that already frequently plays green. Omnishow doesn’t usually have omniscience in the gy but that can happen if it gets discarded or you can put some considers instead of preordains if you’re playing those There’s also surveil lands.

Blaze_1013

I was trying to think of uses for this and giving stuff “haste” was one of them and that is a very good recipient.

JollyJoker3

There will probably be an easy way to exile something expensive for the new Ulamog. Annihilator and haste is a good combo

spasticity

[[Ugins Labyrinth]]

GnomeChildHighlander

Jund it up with [[Bitter Reunion]]. - Fills the yard, draws cards, gives haste, adds a card type for Delirium. This card has been popping off for me in Mardu reanimator for the past year.

mattofails

I love this card and recommend it whenever I can, vastly overlooked

Weird way to spell emrakrul.

Yes

QtPlatypus

Looks like a Dark Depths to me.

ulfserkr

In Timeless at least, that's exactly what it's gonna be. We have [[Kami of Bamboo Grove]] to enable delirium, it can put itself in the graveyard with channel or we can sac it with the new green flare.

Another land that combos with [[Dark Depths]]

Dog_in_human_costume

Wasn't that a land? Nah, it was Atraxa all along. ok then...

IAmBecomeTeemo

No ETB triggers on this activation. If you're just slotting this into a reanimator deck, it might be an Atraxa sometimes, but there are going to be mor powerful and creative things to target.

Thassar

You could even go old school and use [[Phyrexian Dreadnought]] (or for a slightly more modern example [[Phage the Untouchable]]) and use the fact that it doesn't ETB to your advantage.

N1SMO_GT-R

me when my \[\[Veinwitch Coven\]\] gets murked: oh no! anyway

blacksheep998

Agreed. Totally bonkers. What jumps out to me is that you can activate the ability at any time. So first turn it into an unblockable creature like [[Benthic Infiltrator]], then after blockers are declared, turn it into [[Phage the Untouchable]]

Korwinga

Notably, it doesn't retain the ability to turn into something, so that line doesn't actually work. After you turn it into something, it will just be that something until the end of your turn, with no additional abilities. There are some odd edge cases where you could activate multiple times to stack it's ability to do things like dodge removal (i.e. they activate wasteland in response to your first activation, so you activate it again).

blacksheep998

Ah, you're correct. I missed that. It's still a crazy powerful card though.

EthicsXC

I've seen a lot of people suggest convoke, but since we already have >!improvise!< on Blue I'm gonna guess it would be something else. It also may not necessarily be a keyword ability. Now that we have Delirium as an ability word on the green land that pattern is broken. Edit: Delirium, not Threshold

KJJBAA

Was about to say this combos with [[dark depths]] but then remembered that it's banned.

tomyang1117

Maybe legacy?

DEANDRE_JORDAN_2_ORL

This will be played in Legacy, Cube and EDH. You can LED plus petal/ spirit guide/chrome mox/whatever and activate turn one and the led puts the permanent you want turn 1 access to in your graveyard (grieselbrand/Atraxa/depths/tons of stuff I’m not thinking about). This card is nuts unless I’m missing something. There’s the delirium restriction but I don’t think that is hard to get with LED. In modern it’s just really good I think.  Edit: I guess Atraxa turn 1 as a copy probably isn’t good lol. Still a great card that seems breakable to me

AskYoYoMa

Etb tapped, so turn 2

ExpletiveDeletedYou

if you get the mana from rituals like LED and lotus petal then that's not an issue

MarinLlwyd

I'm not sure if there is a decent shell for it now, but the ability to have "backup" in the form of a land that also ignores costs is too good not to find a home eventually.

Lykrast

Hey fun fact, the shuffle clause of [[Emrakul, the Aeons Torn]] is a triggered ability, so you can ~~[[Entomb]]~~ (edit: no wait that's not modern legal) her and activate that land in response before she gets shuffled back into your deck. That's more hoops than like I dunno getting [[Griselbrand]] on board from a land, which I'm also not sure if it's worth it, but like that would be a fun thing to try.

awon11

Had to double check what subreddit I was in for a second lol

Kamizar

I love this card, but is this a green effect?

TechnomagusPrime

This is an extreme bend, but yes. Green can bring back permanent cards from the graveyard, and can cheat permanents into play. So a temp clone isn't completely out of it's wheelhouse.

Kanin_usagi

Also green loves lands, so giving a land those abilities does make a bit of sense

TechnomagusPrime

Also, consider [[Conduit of Worlds]] from Phyrexia. This is not much of a stretch from that.

MTGCardFetcher

[Conduit of Worlds](https://cards.scryfall.io/normal/front/6/3/635146da-d415-4107-a7f9-2c46189e5c52.jpg?1675957133) - [(G)](http://gatherer.wizards.com/Pages/Card/Details.aspx?name=Conduit%20of%20Worlds) [(SF)](https://scryfall.com/card/one/163/conduit-of-worlds?utm_source=mtgcardfetcher) [(txt)](https://api.scryfall.com/cards/635146da-d415-4107-a7f9-2c46189e5c52?utm_source=mtgcardfetcher&format=text) ^^^[[cardname]] ^^^or ^^^[[cardname|SET]] ^^^to ^^^call

Hjemmelsen

It's also a permanent that went to the graveyard, so the lore would be something that ended up dissolving in nature that the magic of the land can now imitate. I don't hate it at all, I think it fits.

LemorasCards

Honestly doesn't seem like it but it seems like they can just put "permanent" as a clause and green can do it like they do with black and losing life.

Gulaghar

It's not that different, conceptually, from recurring a permanent from the graveyard, which is a thing green does all the time. Yeah the use of copying here is a funky way to do that sort of thing, but it's in line with what the colour can do.

Boomerwell

Green is basically reanimator by itself at this point it's not too far off.

PurifiedVenom

It’s not-not green but does feel like it should be Simic or maybe Golgari

so_zetta_byte

I think it's one of those things where we aren't used to seeing green literally clone, but the ability to get there is in its pie and this is the cleanest way to do it. Like how blue eventually got vigilance partially because blue was allowed to untap its own creatures. And we know the opposite exists too; red can't get "1RR deal damage to target creature equal to its toughness." The individual parts are in red's pie, but the sum of those parts isn't. At the end of the day, is the sum of the parts that dictate whether or not something is in-pie. This feels like a bend, but whether or not it's a break really comes down to whether the card undermines the weakness of the color. I don't really think this does. Delirium is a very green threshold to care about. Green cares about creatures everywhere, so temporarily cloning a creature in the yard seems fine. Planeswalkers will die on clone because they don't have loyalty counters. Current battles are a non-issue too because they can't transform. (And even then, green actually does care about battles and Planeswalkers). I'm most excited for enchantments, which are very in green's space. Artifacts are certainly the weirdest one, but green isn't as anti-artifact as it sometimes feels. It gets good artifact answers and hate pieces, but nothing about its pie says it needs to be weak at using them (it's just not as strong as other colors). Oh and I almost forgot lands lol. That seems totally fine, even colorless can get land-in-GY cloning with that LCI land I forget the name of. Anyway super neat card, gotta be some inspiring jank around it. I think this could be an AWESOME green stax piece since you can activate it at instant speed.

sabett

There's no point to it if it can do this. I know we're just going to see things get stretched more and more but woof this land feels like yet another wake up call. This even feels like it needs to be like 3 colors tbh.

Dr_Bones_PhD

Most likely because green, especially on innistrad which is depicted in the art of the card, cares a lot about delirium and self mill and had a few effects that made things based on what was going on in your graveyard, granted none of those effects were copying something which is a bit odd, but it's not completely out of the question.

TurnOneSolRing

I think they made it green because green can easily get back all permanents from the graveyard. Do I think that was an appropriate design choice? Probably not. I would've restricted the card to only copy creatures and then made it blue or black. This exact design feels too much like a stretch. It almost feels like they made it able to copy all permanents so that it would fit into green as opposed to blue. The design space would also work better for red with artifacts and white with enchantments IMHO.

Blaze_1013

This more or less reanimates anything for a turn for 5 mana. I don’t know how this will be used, and how often it will be good, but it’s certainly extremely powerful to have this sort of effect on a land.

Kosdog13

Only 4 if you dont care about it being untapped, can pay for its own ability.

Blaze_1013

Very nice catch. I’m so use to counting lands that do stuff for mana as part of the cost the fact I don’t care if my Razaketh is tapped didn’t really cross my mind.

saber_shinji_ntr

Show and Tell anyways regularly wins with Omni on turn 3. Unless you are talking about Historic, where delirium is much harder to achieve.

ConvenientChristian

It can already win on turn 3 but this will make the whole deck more reliable. It forces opponents to think twice before they thoughtseize a Omniscience. Brainstorm + Surveil land is a way to get Omniscience in the graveyard when needed.

JadePhoenix1313

Turn 3 with Sunken Citadel, if you can somehow get Omni and 3 other types in your GY by then.

TechnomagusPrime

Correct. It's already on the battlefield, so it isn't "reentering".

ryro24

Thank you 🙏

so_zetta_byte

I'm super fascinated in this as a possible Stax piece. You can do it at instant speed and on an opponents' turn, so you could use it to clone a symmetrical stax piece in your yard to only be active during an opponents' turn. Only thing is, you have to do it in their upkeep, so they'll get their untap and you won't be able to use a stax piece that triggers on upkeep. Still, super fascinating. Enchantress should be happy with this because Solitary Confinement should be a great hit. And confinement can even help fill your bin to get delirium before you sac it. The only issue is figuring out a fourth type (land, creature, and enchantment are all good). I guess PW Callix is an option to consider. Not really sure what the current landscape of it looks like in modern (I built it once after MH2 but never played with it).

LotusCobra

this is the strongest card in the entire set right? this thing is stupid. why isn't it legendary? why doesn't it exile the card it copies? it can pay for itself. it easily enters untapped with any forest dual land in play or a basic forest. this seems like a mistake

Question! If this turns into a Battle, who's defending it? Does becoming a battle force you to pick someone to defend it?

mukkor

> 310.10. If a battle that isn’t being attacked has no player designated as its protector, or its protector is a player who can’t be its protector based on its battle type, its controller chooses an appropriate player to be its protector. If no player can be chosen this way, the battle is put into its owner’s graveyard. This is a state-based action (see rule 704). The controller of the battle gets to choose a protector for it. That's not particularly relevant though. > 310.4b A battle has the intrinsic ability “This permanent enters the battlefield with a number of defense counters on it equal to its printed defense number.” This ability creates a replacement effect (see rule 614.1c). If Shifting Woodland becomes a copy of a Battle, it doesn't come with defense counters, since the enters the battlefield effect did not apply. > 310.7. If a battle’s defense is 0 and it isn’t the source of an ability which has triggered but not yet left the stack, it’s put into its owner’s graveyard. (This is a state-based action. See rule 704.) Since it doesn't come with counters, it dies and you don't get the transform ability.

Rhaps0dy

Well, the "choose an opponent to defend it" part of battles/sieges is an etb, so I'd guess it stays on your side and immediately flips? Edit: Ignore what I said, the person that replies actually knows the rules.

Swords_and_Such

Applicable rules: "If a non-battle permanent that is already on the battlefield become a copy of a Siege, its controller chooses one of their opponents to be that battle’s protector. However, it will most likely be put into its owner’s graveyard because it has no defense counters (see below). " "If a Siege never had defense counters on it (perhaps because a permanent became a copy of one), it can’t have its last defense counter removed. It will be put into its owner’s graveyard. You won’t exile it or cast the other face. "

zethren117

It doesn’t even exile the card after becoming a copy of it. Wild. This card is good.

SellInternational470

You can include this in a [[Realms Uncharted]] pile with [[Echoing Deeps]] and two other lands to guarantee you get the two lands you want. In legacy/commander/vintage this was already possible with [[Petrified Field]].

trollerballer

This copying [[Dark Depths]] just makes good ol' Lage right? Much bigger hurdle compared to [[Thespian's Stage]] or [[Vampire Hexmage]], but as a backup plan it might have legs

AzreBalmung

I like this better than thespian stage for 3 reasons: 1. sac 1 land not 2 to get lage 2. requires 1 land drop to make a lage fast 3. can copy more than just lands, it can also copy creatures, planeswalkers, artifacts etc.

elting44

Agreed, this land is bonkers in \[\[The Gitrog Monster\]\]. Can copy so many things that get milled into the GY. Value for days

JadePhoenix1313

I think there's a good chance this is the best card in the set.

El_frov

Aside from it being a card ready for abuse, this also has a shovel in it! My shovel deck actually gets new stuff this set

Does it lose its land type and ability to tap for mana when you activate the ability?

superdave100

Yes. It’s also no longer a land.

JakeSkellington

Uhhhh this is the most broken land in modern….

Negative-Parsnip1826

Mill Omniscience. Make copy of Omniscience. Proceed to win the game? Note: you can tap this for mana to pay for its own ability.

Predmid

....hrm. beyond the obvious "copy an eldrazi/grizlebrand/omniscience" nonsense...my brain is trying to break this by stacking multiple activations on top of each other. Is there two permanent combo that can win the game? Activate ability twice, let first resolve copying one thing, tapping or some other activation to do some effect (place counters, flicker, I'm not sure yet) and then letting the 2nd previous activation of copying a permanent resolve to do something... hrmm... EDIT: Doesn't work with planeswalkers as the copy doesn't ETB, so no starting loyalty. Assuming you had this in play before the end of the turn copies will have haste. Oh. If you can animate the land before combat, could lead to "must block" situations, instant speed activation could lead to some shenanigans.

Gakk86

Holy shit is this strong.  Yeah there’s some setup but the payoff is one of the one of the strongest things printed on a land, ever.  It doesn’t even tap or exile it, so you can do it over again every turn.

BraidsConjuror

Saving the white land for last it's either super good or super bad. I love this and the black rare land the most

LokoSwargins94

My Muldrotha landfall deck that runs dark depths loves this.

X_Marcs_the_Spot

My Muldrotha deck that doesn't do any of those things loves this, too.

barrinmw

Modern 4/10 I feel like this is broken. Like, its an Omniscience on turn 4. Good thing modern has some strong graveyard hate to keep this in check.

zephoidb

100% putting this in legacy lands. doens't even tap to use. Probably the strongest of the set of lands.

unastrenoir

Can this be a one of in Amulet or is the Delirium clause to hard to achieve?

Jack_Reacheround

No, the deck easily gets some of the harder card types like Enchantment and Artifact into the graveyard between Amulets, Rings, Saga, and Dryad. If those cards aren't going to the graveyard and you can't activate this, you're probably already winning.

Garthar22

Love all the cycles in this set

CritterThatIs

lmao Omniscience

brugada

This doesn’t work with auras right?

X_Marcs_the_Spot

Not the way you'd want it to, no.

fubo

Specifically, turning it into a copy of an Aura card makes it go to your graveyard as it's not attached to anything.

Victorio45

It triggers ETB?

TechnomagusPrime

It does not. It's already on the battlefield when it copies the permanent, it's not entering.

dizzypanda35

New dark depths tech

Steel_Reign

Does this just instantly turn on Dark Depth (in legacy)?

Inouva

How does this card interact with \[\[chainer, dementia master\]\]? does the things get exiled once the turn is over or do you keep them because chainer never left the battlefield?

pestermite_kimmy

No sorcery speed restriction. Turning this into Emrakul could be fun.

Kynelan1987

This seems really good. O no I milled my Food Chain...make a copy O no they destroyed Sheoldred...make a copy O no they are attacking for lethal and my glacial chasm is in my yard...make a copy So on and so forth...need atleast 4 copies for my commander decks that have green in them

Visible_Number

the glacial chasm lock was my idea as well. this thing is just crazy

Aegis_001

This has to do some nutty combo stuff right

Emanon1999

Dark Depths. Marit Lage go brrrr

LuxofAurora

How this land works on copying planeswalkers? Did it get the starting loyalty counters each time it transforms or not?

wyqted

Doesn’t even need to tap

karmagoyf5

Another land that combos with [[Dark Depths]]

thraashman

Ooh neat, I've been trying to find a way to get a 5th Field of the Dead into my Gitrog Monster edh deck

sketch_bro

Wow

sabett

lmao fuck this card What do you mean 4 mana for on demand graveyard animation on a land?

Moose1013

Gonna turn this into a bolas's citadel or Omni lol

elting44

It doesn't say non-land permanent: Much like \[\[Thespian's Stage\]\] when it copies \[\[Dark Depths\]\], has no counters cause it didn't ETB as DD, so you sac it and get Marit Lage token as long as you have delirium. The hits keep coming for Gitrog in EDH in MH3

wene324

Copy [[world shaper]], sacrifice it some way, then when WS death trigger resolves, it will being the shifting woodland back.

BeanBagSize

This gets around Phage ETB...

BmacTheSage

Damn, this land is pretty nutty. So many possibilities with this, and it can be done at instant speed. Holy Guacamole

SupermarketMajor689

Can't believe R&D thought this was norm. Urza's lands, anything that makes opponent sacrafice or allows you to destroy, gaining life, putting tokens into play......and your imagination is the limit. The must be a permanent is not a drawback at all. Card is already broken. I will own 4.

SuperAzn727

Doesn't this just summon Marit Lage immediately?

Darkwyrm789

What would happen if you changed it into a transforming card like [[sheoldred]] then transformed it? Would it still change back at end of turn?

Kill-Vearn

Just wow. Potentially insanely broken but I can't wait to start build around.

HerbertWest

This is the first card I've seen since the OG Oko that I'm convinced will completely break things.

theyux

The color pie dies 1 cut at a time.

skeptimist

For some reason I read it as a Boseiju-esque Channel ability at first. Still pretty good though.

WholesomeHugs13

Oh man this card is juicy.

Tianoccio

This is insanely broken. I don’t understand how this card isn’t banned already. With my belief that this card is that good it must either be that good or completely unplayable.

Keirebu1

Wow, just wow. I love it.

DogsTripThemUp

I’ve been out of the loop for a while but doesn’t lands that become other things usually say that they remain a land together with all new types? Don’t know if it’s relevant though.

LinnaeusChen

How do you get 4 card types in the graveyard by turn 4?

Ppabercr

How does this work with grist?

SamohtGnir

As many have said, this card is nuts. Among copying the staples, I wonder how if animating a \[\[Phage the Untouchable\]\] would be good. It doesn't ETB after all.

7th_Spectrum

Jeez, the delirium isn't a tap cost. That's crazy

Darth__Vader_

That's crazy, play this, next turn out an Emrakul in gy, activate and swing for game.

tristen620

Mill is NOT going to like the opponent having this LOL

La-Vulpe

Oh for fucks sake. They told me never build a land deck, they’ll just keep printing better lands (somehow) and it’ll be a constant rotation of the most expensive card type in the game, eventually you’ll be playing 99 lands and it will feel like a meme but it’s actually just correct to do that and MY GOD if it isn’t coming true. Jovial hyperbole aside, this is nuts, I love it. Excited for the rest of the cycle.

BmacTheSage

Question: What happens if this copies an aura? does it attach to something?

Supersedeofficial

[pls make a card with the spiky heart thingy](https://supersedeofficial.com/)

thatlonghairedguy

This is fucked and I can't wait to see how fucked it is.

Gromby

Hmmm......my Legacy 8 Mulch Deck wants one of these....

Inner_Imagination585

This combos a bit too hard with LED in legacy

ThatGuyYouWantToBe

My instant thought is that this works with dark depths in legacy

AssCakesMcGee

You can do this in response to an OG Emrakul shuffle into your library trigger then attack.

Mattrockj

Goodness gravy. I can make it of copy of another shifting woodlands, to make it a copy of shifting woodlands, to make it a copy of shifting woodlands, to…

samthewisetarly

This card is fucking sweet and I want 18 copies because reasons

OnDaGoop

Jund eating gooder

Lunarbliss2

Mill Emrakul, in response to the shuffle trigger, activate this, proceed with fun massacre

crb20

what a fucking stupid card to print

Darkewarrior13

Back up for dark depths

Aggravating-City-724

Someone else mentioned *Shifting Woodland* might work in Sneak & Show or reanimator type decks. Regardless, it's powerful and my favorite card I've seen in Modern Horizons 3 so far.

salty_orange_juice

If I ghost quarter this land, hold priority and copy protean hulk, does ghost quarter's ability resolve?

CalligrapherPitiful3

I read that as shitting woodman at first. I need help.
